The food was some of the best I've ever had! So delicious
The food was some of the best I've ever had! So delicious and fresh. The reason I'm not getting five stars is because of our service :( Our waitress (whose name started with a K) was very rude and was annoyed with us for seemingly no reason. She had two other tables she was taking care of so I don't understand why she was so upset with us. I'm a server myself which is why I'm confused. I wouldn't come back if she was our server. The kitchen though, is phenomenal!! Thank you etta for the food!
Etta was recommended by a friend, but it did not live up to
Etta was recommended by a friend, but it did not live up to my expectations. The space and service were both good, but the food was very overpriced for what it was. We got the oysters, charred broccoli, diavola pizza, and radiatori bolognese. For example, the bolognese was $24: it had a highly mediocre flavor and the portion size was a small bowl. There are higher end places in the city with similar prices that do both portion size and flavors much better. The oysters were probably the best out of all that we got. Overall I was very underwhelmed with the food. Additionally, it's also always strange and slightly irritating to me when an entire restaurant is pretty much empty and a group is still sat RIGHT next to your table instead of being spaced out better.
Food was excellent.
But the server really wanted us to buy the steak dinner. Almost was pushy but overall he was a great waiter. The focaccia was the best part!! Excited to go back!
Really cute rooftop spot to eat at, but not a place to get
Really cute rooftop spot to eat at, but not a place to get full unless you have money to spend. It makes sense that there are small bites as most folks seem to come here for drinks. Compared to the location in Scottsdale, AZ, I was a bit disappointed in portion size. Ordered the cacio e pepe and grilled beef. The pasta was great, not too salty as some places do it. Unfortunately, the grilled beef was so little food for $47. It was also under the "For the Table" category so I thought the portions would be larger - if not put it in the "Starters" section! We were still quite hungry after but decided to go somewhere else instead of order more. Overall not a bad place, we just had the wrong expectations going in.
Seriously the best pasta I have ever had.
Etta is a beautiful two-story restaurant with an outdoor balcony to dine at. To me, the perfect place for date night. We had set reservations prior to our dinner, but I believe you will be fine if not. We ordered the focaccia appetizer to start, and when I tell you that I have thought about this appetizer nonstop since I have left Chicago... It is so crazy good! It's warm and crispy focaccia bread that is served with the most delicious and smooth honey and truffle whipped ricotta. For my entree, I ordered the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe, and it was one of the most beautiful plates of food I have ever seen. So simple yet so glossy and elegant. It was incredibly rich and creamy, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Cannot wait until I get to come back.
Sure, the Food and Ambience were nice.
However, those elements were overlooked by the poor service that my friend and I received. Our waiter appeared to be uncomfortable on waiting on us. My only guess is that he expected us as black women to not tip him appropriately for his service, and subsequently ignored and neglected our table throughout our dinner. it is safe to say I won't be returning to this restaurant.
After a couple of years, some friends wanted to try this
After a couple of years, some friends wanted to try this spot back in December and I was in the mood for pasta so we came back for lunch and I was much more impressed this time. It was a weekday lunch so a little more quiet and our server was still attentive and friendly. Booth seating and decor is very nice. Gin drink - would skip, could only taste the gin and even then it was slightly watered down. Ricotta Pillows - delicious, ricotta was soft and the sauce was sooo good. I liked the spiced black walnuts on top and fresh rosemary. Farm Greens Salad - refreshing salad, the apples were really crisp and vinegrette was light Chitarra Cacio e pepe - perfect creaminess and the shaved parmesan on top was. shaved so light so it melted in which was really nice. Pappardelle alla bolognese - was decent but I wouldn't feel inclined to order again DIavola Pizza - absolutely delicious. The pizza is thin, the meat has a kick and the calabrian chile honey was perfect. What I loved even more was the sauce and spice pairings! The giardiniera pepper was amazing - could buy a jar of that home and spread it over everything. Personally, I'd skip the brunch and go to lunch!
Etta is one of the few places where the Yelp reviews were
Etta is one of the few places where the Yelp reviews were not representative of what our experience would be. My friends and I had high expectations given the wonderful reviews, but left greatly disappointed. We made a dinner reservation for 6pm and were seated without a wait. The restaurant is beautiful. Walking in, you can see their food preparation area with the cute pizza oven and tiles. They have a variety of seating options - booths, tables, and bar seating. We started with drinks. I ordered and loved the avec hibiscus & pomegranate spritz with vodka. This drink has a nonalcoholic option and if you would like it alcoholic, you get to choose the alcohol (vodka, gin, tequila, etc). My friends got the baddest boy and that's fetch, which they really enjoyed. For starters we ordered the house baked focaccia and bubbling shrimp. The focaccia was absolutely delicious. The bread was flavorful and airy, but the ricotta and honey whip was what elevated the dish. All of the reviews had recommended the bubbling shrimp. I'm not sure if it was a bad night, but our bubbling shrimp dish was flavorless and watery. Our table agreed that it could have tasted better if the dish was cooked longer for the sauce to simmer to flavor the shrimp. I would not recommend the bubbling shrimp. For entrees, we ordered the Wild Mushroom pizza, Radiatori Bolognese, and Squash Ravioli. The presentations were beautiful and the food looked appetizing, but everyone was disturbed by how all of the entrees lacked flavor. The small serving sizes or prices were of no concern when compared to the shocking absence of flavor in each dish. We didn't want to risk ordering other menu items and left to finish dinner elsewhere. I trust Yelp reviews and I truly can't help but to think that we came on a bad day. Etta has the nice atmosphere, creative menu items, and amazing plating. However, given my experience with the bland food, I cannot bring myself to return. If you're headed to Etta, the only thing I can recommend is cocktails and focaccia.
Very cute atmosphere in a great neighborhood.
Ordered a bunch of items to share and there wasn't one bad dish!

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
