My favorite Greek restaurant and last night reminded me it isn't just about the food. Our waiter maybe sensed my second date anxiety or whatever, with a light touch he helped me relax, then left us alone. Much appreciated!
The place seems unsanitary as our new plate had food crusted on it and the knife we received had a glob of butter on the handle. Our waiter was staring off into space while we were ordering and messed up our order twice. The food took forever to come out and was subpar. We were charged $10 for "bottled" water even though it was clearly tap water.

It's probably been over 5 years since I used to frequent this location at least twice a month and sometimes weekly. Either the quality has really degraded or other food options have exceeded this place. My experience was below average for sure. Why has it been so long since I have been there?1. The location is too small to easily accommodate a family of 8 with last minute reservations 2. I found another place with the same menu and higher quality food ( Dio Deka )What went bad?1. Service was sub-par. We needed more sparkling water and it took forever. My wife's knife was dirty and also took a while to get a new one. My Greek coffee was forgotten and received after I finished my dessert2. Food wasn't that great. Octopus appetizer came lukewarm. Fish was over cooked. Lamb was not hot enough and really wasn't too tasty3. Outdoor heater went out and no replacementWhat was nice?1. I really liked the warm feta 2. I like the new outdoor seatingThis is very unfortunate, since this place was a hit before, but thank god for dio deka. Never again.

Best Greek cuisine in the heart of Palo Alto downtown.
We went with fellow yelpers suggestions. For appetizers we had the roasted mushrooms (surprisingly good) and the fried octopus (bit underwhelming) and for the main course we went with the lamb chops (bit pricey as to be expected for this place) recommended by many and was cooked the best succulent and juicy full of flavors. Overall a great experience

Went for a friends birthday party, ok incredible.
Ordered the lamb, medium, amazing. Most impressive was the artichoke and the fried cheese dish as an appetizer. We also ordered the smelt with tons of lime. The whole fish, sea bass was incredible as well. The service was on point and all servers were super attentive! Will be back. 5 stars for food, service, ambiance

Delicious Greek food in the heart of downtown Palo Alto! I heard Evvia is one of the best Greek restaurants in this area, so I was excited to try it.My friends and I made a lunch reservation in advance for this past Saturday. Highly recommend you make a reservation in advance, as it can get crowded! Here is a breakdown:AMBIANCE: There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I was really impressed with how nice and fancy the parklet was designed-- definitely one of the best I've seen since this trend started recently. White tablecloth restaurant. Great for dates or larger group gatherings. FOOD: For an appetizer, we ordered the Saganaki (which is fried cheese). I'm lactose intolerant so I try to avoid dairy, but I could not resist when I saw this come out. It was SO GOOD -- super flavorful and creamy. For my main entree, I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki. The portion size was pretty big! Chicken was perfectly seasoned and well done. All ingredients tasted fresh. It was a delicious meal, and I would definitely order it again. We ordered the baklava for dessert -- super yummy, had a bit of a crunch, and was not overly sweet. SERVICE: This is sadly the only reason I'm giving a 4/5 rating. Although our waiter was attentive and friendly, he and the other servers were too eager to quickly take away our plates.. even while we were still eating off of them! This continuously happened during the appetizers, main courses, and desserts. If the plates looked even a little bare, I felt they were in a rush to sweep them away from us. We all felt rushed, and it took away from the dining experience. Overall, I may return if I'm in town again, as the food was really good. I am hoping the service will be improved and less rushed next time.

There's a reason this place is always packed.
Great menu and wine options. Elevated Greek cuisine at its finest without being stuffy or pretentious. OpenTable didn't have an opening the day of, so I called and spoke so the manager who was able to squeeze me at an outdoor table since weather was nice. When I arrived 10 mins early, he remembered me as well and I was seated right away. Only downside at the sidewalk table is that it is in the middle of people traffic. But that wasn't enough to kill the experience. Although our waitress was a little rough on the edges and not too good with recommendations, it was a great dining experience and I will be back to try the dishes I didn't order.

I was very excited about the positive reviews but for me this place was just okay. The only real saving grace was the food, but since I could find just as good for cheaper, I don't know that I will be very eager to return. Last week I came in to join a group of friends and upon greeting the hostess and saying I was looking to join a group of two, I got a confused, judgemental stare. This woman legit WORDLESSLY stared at me in a "what are you doing here" fashion. It made me feel really uncomfortable and honestly irritated. I literally greeted her and asked how she was doing, and she just stared at me like I had no business addressing her. After several moments of her eyeing me disdainfully, I got tired of her nonsense and sidestepped past her to find my group. Only then did she she eek out an anemic greeting in the same confused, abrasive tone. Our servers while less pugnacious were just okay definitely not as bad as the hostess, but definitely not anything to write home about. I got the salmon with mashed potatoes which was lovely, but definitely not worth the greeting I recieved or the accompanying price tag. I'm totally fine paying a premium for good food, but good service should definitely accompany it. Maybe I came on an off day, but I won't be rushing back. Word to the wise, please don't eye hustle your patrons like they're beneath you! Makes us prone to indigestion and spending our money elsewhere.

One of the best meals ever.
Absolutely recommend this restaurant. Interesting menu, everything was delicious, wait staff was friendly, helpful, and pleasant, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. We had grilled fish, beet salad, and arugula salad--all were delicious. Our waiter brought dessert with a candle and sang along to wish my husband happy birthday!
Been here twice now and very good both times. I mean this restaurant alone speak its name. Everything on the menu so good, I enjoy trying their specials. Had dolma with lamb, cauliflower with capers. Steak and brazino is amazing... I have enjoyed my waiter both time, same one. Definitely a top notch restaurant, many host and hostesses as well as floor staff. Probably the only thing I would ask to change up is warm bread... then it would be to die for hahaOh--- reservations are always booked up way in advance. Many businesses come here for dinner.

We have dined here several times, and each time it has been an absolute delight. The food is delicious, but the staff and management go out of their way to make the experience truly special. We brought four relatives here with us this time, and they also loved with the place. I would highly recommend Evvia to anybody looking for a dining experience that is a cut above the rest.

Amazing food and such a surprise as normally I'm not a huge fan of Greek food. We came when they opened Sunday morning and decided to order a bunch of apps (highly recommended if you want to try a variety of dishes). We ended up ordering too much food for 2 people as the app portions are pretty generous and can definitely be shared among 3-4 people. - Taramosalata (cod roe dip): Super yummy! Similar to a lox cream cheese spread but very unique and amazing with the pita or complimentary bread they serve- Lamb Riblets: A great option if you don't want go for a lamb entree! Super tender and crisp on the outside. The highlight of our meal!- Roasted Mushrooms: Delicious with greek cheese on top. A little oily but delicious and filling- Prawns: Loved the chili butter which adds a kick to the prawns and the tomatoes are a great accompaniment- Fried Smelts: Large portion good for 3 - 4 people. We enjoyed it with the sauce and ask for extra lemon but otherwise the smelt itself could have been better seasonedWe'll definitely be back to try more apps and the entrees as well!

Great Greek restaurant in downtown Palo Alto
First time i had visited this great restaurant in 15 years but was good as i remember. They have one of the best greek salads i have ever had and i had the whole sea bass. It was very good as long as you remember there is not a lot of flesh but still very good.
