I had such an amazing experience here! The staff were amazing and the food experience was unbelievable! It was creative, well executed, not a single detail was spared or went unnoticed. The tasting experience went in so many exciting directions and the wine parings with it were unbelievable! The sauces were to die for, and everything was cooked to perfection! Everything was exceptionally sophisticated and well thought out. All the dishes were very technical and impressive. The chefs were amazing and always eager to talk about their process. The head chef really knows what he's doing and keeps a very organized and refined kitchen. I was so happy to hear that most of what they served was locally sourced or foraged, as a local it made the meal so special. I will definitely come back!

Be the first to ReplyMy husband and I went here for my birthday dinner.
It was absolutely incredible. The sommelier & the servers were engaging, friendly, and knowledgeable. Each of the dishes were so delicious and paired well with the wines. I couldn't pick a favorite, all of them were! They gifted me a signed menu for my birthday. We felt so special. It was intimate and romantic as well.

To welcome in the new year, I enjoyed a relaxing stay at Farmhouse Inn, a luxury boutique hotel tucked away in Sonoma Country's Russian River Valley. The charming property is owned by fifth-generation farmers, Joe and Catherine Bartolomei and features 25 guest rooms and two farm-to-table restaurants. As equally impressive as the rooms and property, is the onsite Farmhouse Restaurant led by chef de cuisine Craig Wilmer, a Bay Area local with kitchen experience at high profile restaurants including Petit Crenn and COI. After the retirement of founding chef Steve Litke, and a remarkable legacy of 13 consecutive Michelin stars, Farmhouse Restaurant had a couple transitional years before they found Wilmer last year. While I didn't get to experience Farmhouse Restaurant prior, I very much enjoyed the current iteration under Wilmer's lead. The seasonal 6-course tasting menu was made even more decadent for New Year's Eve, with caviar in each course. A champagne-focused pairing was the perfect celebratory compliment. I was beyond impressed with each dish, the extensive wine program, and the knowledgeable service. Dinner started off strong with three amuse bouches and two lighter dishes, including a crab salad with fennel, avocado, and caviar. Normally modest braised rainbow chard was elevated with golden osetra caviar. And the seaweed butter that came with the bread course was addictively good. The Mt. Lassen Trout was perhaps the most stunning dish in the beautifully presented meal. Different root vegetables were cut and arranged to resemble colorful fish scales. Duck-fat fried potato squares and a bright, citrusy sauce with calamansi completed the trout. Classic, tender steak au poivre rounded out the savory courses. Even the banana and ice cream dessert had a generous dollop of caviar and gold flakes. A satisfyingly sweet and salty ending to a memorable meal. We were given a couple mignardises, as well as madeleines and chocolate chip cookies to take away. At $275 for the tasting menu and a $150 wine pairing, dinner is certainly a treat, but one I highly recommend for a special experience. I wouldn't be surprised if they receive a Michelin star again!
Be the first to ReplyWe've been coming to the Farmhouse for a long time
We've been coming to the Farmhouse for a long time (annually since 2015, but our first visit was in 2008). The fine dining has been through a few iterations but this latest experience was beyond amazing. We have eaten at top restaurants in NY, SF, LA, and throughout wine country (including Cyrus and Single Thread). This meal was the best I've ever had, hands down. I couldn't pick a favorite course if I had to. The wine pairing is always perfection (Jared is absolutely gifted), and every dish was beautifully presented, an adventure to dive into, and extremely delicious. Everything was so elegant but also approachable--reminiscent of comfort foods at times but vastly elevated. I took pictures of every course, because I know word will spread and it will be harder to get a table. Chef Craig is truly gifted, and the staff are incomparable--friendly, knowledgeable, and so skilled at what they do (Akram, Sam ... everyone!). My husband has celiac, and Chef Craig was able to adjust as needed to give him an equally incredible experience. We had a chance to speak to him afterwards, and his explanation of the changes he made to keep my husband safe but immersed in this culinary delight demonstrated Chef's passion and depth of talent. I'm so excited to see what our next experience here will bring and am already spreading the word to my friends and loved ones who appreciate fine dining.

A truly memorable experience. The fine dining was superb. Chef Craig Wilmer and his team exceeded our expectations. We loved everything. Anne K
Be the first to ReplyNot a great experience.
Over engineered food that lacked any kind of vision and was woefully light on flavor. A lot of technique for techniques sake not for the betterment of the dish. Dehydrated, rehydrated tomato in the middle of summer when fresh vegetables abound - why? Tile Fish cooked with the scales on, again why? They claim to be farm to table, local ingredients but sure didn't seem that way. In fairness there were some high notes but all in all a lackluster dinner at a premium price.
Be the first to ReplyGreat date night.
Small and quaint. We had a small issue with our meal and they fixed it, and removed the charge from our bull, as well as included dessert for everyone at the table as an apology. Totally wasn't necessary but it is really nice to experience overly great customer service, because it is so lacking as of late. I'm coming back next weekend for a facial, massage, and meal at their fine dining restaurant and I'm much looking forward to it. The property is beautiful, and we have gotten so many ideas for our yard renovation. Lovely all the way around.

Amazing night, chef Wilmer gave us faith again on high end cuisine. He is a magician in the kitchen. Each dish had amazing flavors, textures and senses. We love every ounce of it with a superb wine pairing. The staff was at the level of the cuisine. I highly recommend this experience. My wife and I are foodies, chef Wilmer deserves his Michelin stars hands down.

A must come and visit before they get their Michelin stars! Chef Craig Wilmer and fabulous team are amazing! Creative forward with delicious outcomes! A hidden gem you'll want to experience before it's too late and you can't get in! Cozy and welcoming ambiance and great staff! I can't say enough great things about the tasting menu and sommelier wine pairing is a magical experience traveling through all your senses and worldly touches. We loved it so much we booked two nights in a row to come and enjoy the menu, cuisine, and service!

Delicious food and excellent service! I WILL BE BACK!!Customer service at this restaurant is unmatched which is what lead to a second visit (after my first experience) to try the new menu. And it did NOT disappoint. Every course was delicious and the portions were more than enough as left feeling full and satisfied. This is definitely a place to go to celebrate a special occasion or for a romantic night out. It is a bit pricey but worth it for the food, service and ambiance.

First time visit to Farm Stand, the Farm House Inn's all-day dining option with farm to table small plates. We ordered a Shaved Vegetable Salad with citrus vinaigrette and Warm Castelvetrano Olives to share as starters. She ordered a Mediterranean Pizza, similar to Margherita and Half Chicken with Meyer Lemon and Kale. Unbeknownst to us as it wasn't listed on the menu that roast potatoes accompanied the chicken, we ordered the side of roast new pptatoes with leek cream and fried leeks. To finish, we ordered the Meyer Lemon Custard Tart. Service was friendly and professional, and the dining room was comfortable. Our only disappointment besides the confusion about the potatoes was that the menu does not include a fish selection among the Mains. My wife is vegetarian except for fish, which she loves. She does not tolerate any shellfish. The food was delicious, the chicken may have been the best seasoned and juicy chicken I have had in a restaurant. If they add a fish selection, we will be regulars.

Being a foodie, I was very excited when a friend made a reservation for us to join her to dinner. I had recently read an article talking about Chef Cabrera's new menu and it sounded so exciting. Come to find out, he is no longer there and the menu is pretty much Sonoma County's greatest hits. The service was very slow and cold. Why are they still boasting the Michelin star they no longer have? The best interaction I had was with the Somm, Jared who walked us through all of the pairings. After the mediocre food that took a good 3 hours of my time, the biggest kick was the cringe of paying the bill. At these prices, I could've gone to an actual Michelin star restaurant like Cyrus!
Be the first to ReplyTop notch service, amazing food.
We have severe food allergies/reactivity to gluten and dairy and can't always enjoy eating out at restaurants like most people. At The Farmhouse we know we don't have to worry. We always sit with Rebecca - she is on her game with remembering our orders, special dietary needs, has incredible knowledge of ingredients & specials, and always makes us feel so welcome. Love love LOVED the salmon salad and the almond cake with marshmallow fluff. This place never disappoints...Will definitely be back very very soon -- Thanks for another fabulous dinner!!
Be the first to ReplyFood and wine were very good.
Service was slow, and in my opinion way too casual for the price to dine there and certainly not up to Michelin standards.

If you're going to charge $1000 for four people (no wine tasting) you would think the food would be outstanding and impressive. Instead we were disappointed and hungry by the end of the meal. Maybe lower your prices until you get it together???
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful tiny portions-not worth $590 for 2 of us.
That included the $175 each for fixed price meal, $80 split of champagne, and $50 corkage for our own bottle of Pinot we brought. We probably won't ever come back which is sad because it didn't use to be like this. The other two times we've been here we spent $300 total but left with full bellies.

Wow, what happened to the Farmhouse? This was one of my all time favorite restaurants. Service was very good and attentive. Food was a complete disappointment. Portions were tiny and aside from the cod, it was mostly unremarkable. We were, however, served large pieces of bread seemingly as a filler. As tasty as it was, it seemed misplaced and weird on the menu and at the $600 price point. I read some of the other reviews and it seems the management is trying to make improvements. I hope they do, the Farmhouse used to set the standard.

A short update to acknowledge that the owner and GM both reached out to offer apologies on our dining experience. I consider that a good sign, and hope that future diners will find things have improved.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent service.
The food was overly precious and flavors not dynamic. I don't feel the value is there for the price.
Be the first to ReplyI 100% recommend this hotel, but 110% recommend AGAINST
I 100% recommend this hotel, but 110% recommend AGAINST eating here. You couldn't have found two happier, more patient, and more carefree people on the planet. We were so relaxed and excited about the meal, nothing could phase use. However, somehow this restaurant really chipped away at us and destroyed the experience. -- Seated 35 minutes late. -- Extremely small portions. We understand fine dining (small portions, high prices etc), but this was insane. 5 of the 6 courses were actually only 1 bite each. We couldn't even let each other try a bite. -- 3.5 hours at the restaurant. Are you kidding? 3.5 hours for, no exaggeration, about 8-10 small bites of food. -- The wait between each course was really rough. We had plenty to talk and laugh about, reminiscing on our first year of marriage, but we eventually ran out of things to say. Inevitably, between each course, we would end up looking around, commenting on how empty the restaurant was, and wondering how/why they could be so slow. These "wonderings" gradually turned comical, and eventually to hunger-derived anger. -- $400 for a few bites of food? Really? This didn't even include our wine! -- After all this, the restaurant still had the nerve to charge us a $60 service fee, in lieu of tipping. $60 for what? A horrible wait and ruined evening?I've never complained to wait staff. Ever. I always assume they're doing their best. This is the first time in my life that I actually couldn't contain my frustration. I was still very courteous, but as soon as my wife went to the restroom, I complained to the server. He 100% acknowledged everything, but only said "yes, I won't lie to you, we are really dragging tonight". Unfortunately, by the time we left, all other local restaurants were closed so we couldn't even go find more food. They clearly knew they messed up, because they comp'd our wine, but the damage was already done. The only reason I gave 2-stars instead of 1, is because the pork loin was incredible, and I appreciated the honesty/candor from the waiter.

I am glad that my friend and I were able to get a reservation here, semi last minute ish and on a weekend. It was a pretty special experience. $150 for the tasting menu, which has a vegetarian option, and $130 for the wine pairing. We split a pairing and was glad we did cause it certainly accentuated the food and wine. Every dish and it's pairing was delicious, the two most memorable for me were the scallop in asparagus gazpacho and the lamb dish. The scallop dish was cooked just right and tasted fresh with a nice acidity. The lamb was juicy and scrumptious. As for the rest, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Be the first to ReplyThe calming colors, rustic-elegant décor, and crackling
The calming colors, rustic-elegant décor, and crackling fireplace in the dining room make this inn, which is nestled away in a rural corner of Sonoma County and is surrounded by forests, quite popular with guests. In addition, this inn has a number of secluded areas perfect for a romantic evening, including a patio with a roof. On the menu, there is a distinct emphasis put on the use of fresh foods, and there is an obvious fondness for anything that is connected to the state of California. When the kanpachi is served with crisp watermelon radish, juicy avocado slices, and celery leaves in a bright and zesty yuzu vinaigrette, the presentation is stunning and is guaranteed to wow. In the meanwhile, the antelope tenderloin has reached the ideal doneness of medium-rare and has a texture that will make your mouth wet. The restaurant's trademark dish is called "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit," and it consists of a leg cooked in confit, a loin wrapped in applewood-smoked bacon, and a very small rack of rabbit chops. Additionally, the dish is given the appellation "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit." In addition, the meal is served with a rack of rabbit chops cut into individual portions. You have access to a significant variety of wines from both the United States and Europe, and you may pick a bottle of wine from this collection to go along with your dinner.
