Fausto Reviews from The Last Year

Made a reservation for a large group of 13 people about a month out and had a great night. I haven't been to the restaurant on a normal night so I only have the menu that we were given as reference. For larger tables, they allow you to choose from a three, four, or five course set menu. They have salads, pastas, and mains for you to choose from to curate your own dinner. We first went with the Beet Salad, rice balls, and the cauliflower salad. The Beet Salad was nice, fresh, and seasonal. The rice balls were a nice texture for an arancini, not to soft and not too cheesy. Paired with their homemade red sauce to cut through with a hint of acid made for a great start. The second course we went with a Tagliatelle, the Bucatini, and a Chitata which, paired with a fresh herb and butter, bolognese, and a white sauce with egg. Each pasta was very fresh and wonderfully balanced. Our only complaint was that we wanted more! For the main courses, we had the sea bass and chicken which were crispy and unctous in all the right ways. 5 stars for exceptional service with two young children in the party, responsive emailing with the front staff, and delicious food!
We LOVE this restaurant.
We come here for special occasions and are happy every time. The food is wow. Love it. The only thing we didn't like was a pea pasta dish. But so far whenever we've explored the menu we've enjoyed it a lot. The cocktails are really nicely balanced and delicious. I truly have nothing bad to say about the service . Everyone is very attentive, available, and knowledgeable. Ambiance is intimate with a nice glow for special occasions

One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood, hands down. I always love visiting here for special occasions - birthdays, anniversaries, any celebration really. Have been here a few times more and loved it every time. Fun to grab a seat at the bar and have a nice solo dinner or a quiet table in the back. The cauliflower salad is a can't miss for me. Perfectly salty anchovy dressing, a nice mix of crunchy raw cauliflower or tender roasted cauliflower. Rockfish with squid ink pasta was a familiar combination but delightful and delicate. Don't be afraid to order a focaccia to wipe the plate clean. And cant go wrong with the classic roast chicken salsa verde with potatoes. Good luck saving room for dessert. But you'll find it in you to at least top it off with an affogato.
Came to Fausto for the first time on date night with my s/o.
It was obvious that several of the adjacent tables were also couples on enjoying their 'date night.' And I can see why. The ambience was classy yet comfortable. The food is prepared in an open, spotless kitchen. Our server, Nick, was superstar; taking the time to explain the menu and always making himself available. But the true star of the show was the food. The pasta was outstanding. I ordered the black bass and was blown away. Even the side order of potatoes was out of this world; possibly the best potatoes I've ever had. And our desert, the olive oil cake, was likewise delicious. And I'm not a desert-guy by any means! 5-stars all around.
Fausto totally blew us away with their awesome homemade
Fausto totally blew us away with their awesome homemade focaccia and arancini! Seriously, those starters set the bar high. Then we dug into the tagliatelle veal bolognese and black bass with crispy potatoes--talk about yum! Those crispy potatoes were like heaven, basically crispy mashed potatoes. And dessert? Don't even get me started! The olive oil cake was to die for, and the vanilla bean panna cotta was insanely good. We were stuffed but couldn't resist! Plus, their wine selection rocks, and the staff is super friendly and on point. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with an open kitchen adding to the lively atmosphere. 5 stars all the way!

Love the food here - must haves: shrimp appetizer, mushroom pasta, and sugar snap pea stracciatella. Service is attentive yet unobtrusive, one of my favorite places in the neighborhood.
Too salty.
Too pretentious. Too expensive. Food was all very good, but too salty (and I love salt). Arancini, focaccia, beet carpaccio (the best) for apps were all delicious. Olive oil was perfect, we asked for more. Service is nice. Always around. Checking water and wine. Silverware changed (my fav). Two of us shared dinner: bass and orechiette. (We told them we were sharing and didn't split in the kitchen) but did bring extra plates. I guess that's something. The pork chop was a good size but was raw inside so we sent it back and then it was perfect. Slightly pink and juicy. The crispy potato side dish is wonderful. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Also too salty. Dessert was cherry sorbet (real sour cherries) amazing. And olive oil cake that I did not care for. Would I go again? No. Should you try it and decide for yourself? Yes. PS: they really do open at 5:30 during the week and not a second earlier!!
Great food and great service.
Everything tasted amazing. The menu was interesting and seasonal. Would highly recommend.

Unique /true Italian style , with great service The menu is only one page but has nice variety of platters As appetizers we get the cauliflower and the stracciatella both were tasty full of savory flavors And then capellini Nero ( delicious black squid ink pasta with shrimp :was delicious but has a bit of spicy flavor. The oreccietta was delicious as well , whole wheat chitarra( this platter was amazingly delicious with egg yolk Black bass was ok For dessert olive oil cake covered with marmalade and vanilla panna cotta was outstanding Recommend!
gorgeous italian restaurant near barclays.
it's modern, sleek and elegant. i recommend a res - you may be able to even get one day of if you're flexible on time. the food was phenomenal. we started with the mixed chicory with the chilled red - a zinfandel blend - then had the orecchiette with a full bodied spicy lombardi. we then got the scallops, reverting back to the zinfandel. it's a great place for any special, romantic occassions
Love, love, love Fausto.
My fave restaurant in Brooklyn. Great food, cocktails and service every single time.
Quality dining with truly Italian fare.
Bolognese is authentic, not just meat sauce. Wine list is off the charts, somewhat expensive but you'll find bottles very hard to find elsewhere. Atmo is upscale/casual. Fun to pop in at the bar for robust cocktails and appies!
I don't say this about many places, but I'd 110% go back
I don't say this about many places, but I'd 110% go back here especially for this pasta. Ambience was also great! Very cozy for a winter night out.
First off, I can't believe this place only has four stars.
Dined there Thanksgiving weekend and I was so impressed that I immediately booked a table for a birthday two weeks later. Where to begin! On a menu in which everything sounds outstanding, the house-made pastas are the stars. It was tough settling on just one, but I had the tagliatelle w/ veal bolognese (basically licked the bowl), while my friends had the pappardelle w/ lamb ragu and the whole wheat chitarra w/ wild mushrooms & egg yolk, both of which were just as delicious. In fact, I liked the chitarra so much, I got an order to go and had it for lunch the next day! The cocktail menu provided another dilemma -- they all sounded so good! I had the Paper Plane, a bourbon-based concoction with several other ingredients that sounded fancy and Italian, none of which I had ever heard of in my life. It was scrumptious. Oh, and let's talk about the service for a second... So when I booked the birthday dinner, I mentioned that we were celebrating. As soon as we were seated, a waiter came over and poured us each a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. See, it's touches like that that make people love a place and want to return again and again.

Fausto was lovely! We made a res for a party of 4 on a Saturday evening day of, though it was the weekend following Thanksgiving so maybe normally this wouldn't be possible. We ordered a couple apps (cauliflower, arancini, and focaccia) and 4 pastas (pappardelle, paccheri, capellini nero, and chitarra) to share. This was a perfect amount of food. Mt favorites: the cauliflower (loved the anchovy caper vinaigrette) and the paccheri (delicious lemony flavor) I'd say our experience was a 4.5 out of 5 because we had to wait a little while for our table to be ready despite having a res, and the coursing timing was a bit off (we had to wait longer than we waited to between the first and second round of pastas). Otherwise everything was fantastic. Would recommend and would go back!
Our neighborhood go-to.
We find ourselves going back frequently. The servers are always attentive and friendly, and the food is very good. I recommend the chicken entree, but the pastas are always a winner as well.

I ordered the antipasto Cauliflower salad and I'm so glad I did! It's a great mix of flavors with cooked and raw cauliflower. I've had cooked cauliflower flower that was flavorless and too raw; this dish is the opposite. Flavorful and crisp without being too raw. The sauce/dressing is a great complement.
