Fhior Edinburgh Reviews from The Last Year
Many happy returns.
A spectacular lunch. Very nicely balanced and imaginative menu, excellent service. The wine list is small but interesting with very good quality unusual wines at a reasonable price. The Sommelier is very helpful. This was our second time here and we will certainly return when back in Edinburgh. It is one of the very best restaurants in the city.
Extraordinary
Friendly and expert service, not stuffy or snooty. Great food beautifully presented. Very creative and satisfying. Highly recommend for special occasion.
Special experience
Went to restaurant for our wedding anniversary. From the moment we entered the restaurant we were made to feel special. The food and service were excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant
7 course menu
The 7 course menu was very delicious. The tast and the arrangement was very good, and the waiters are professionals. The sommelier give us a good recommendation.
Relaxed and enjoyable anniversary dinner
We headed to Fhior to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We watched the rugby then headed over. Welcomed in and given a lovely card from the Fhior team, v.thoughtful. Clean, simple decor and relaxed atmosphere which allowed for the food and wine to be the stars of the evening. I particularly enjoyed the music! Service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. If i asked an annoying Q about feremntation or commented on the cutlery they got me an answer without issue. Big shoutout to the Sommelier who was great! We opted for 10 courses and paired wine and where happy to be surprised by the menu. My husband has a shellfish allergy and that was catered for without any issues. With any tasting menus some dishes shine brighter than others, the two light bites were a great why to start. We particularly enjoyed the vension tartare. I loved the scallop/prawn toast and my husband looked on longingly. I am not a fan of pudding, but the rhubarb /meadowsweet dish is now #1 on my favs. The sea buckthorn dish was a surprise big hit too. The paired wine worked beautiful with each dish. After a recent 🌟 dinner where the wine could only be described as challenging this was a very pleasant experience. Overall, relaxed, chilled, fun eating and drinking experience. Nice way to spend your anniversary.
They don't use yelp in Scotland as much as we do in the US.
I wanted to leave this review anyway because this was one of the 10 best meals I have had in my life. I also attempted to Yelp as we were planning our trip. I saw this place on Men in Kilts and I had to take my Mom. Reservations are required and they ask for a credit card hold. The chef here is very talented and has the art of balancing a meal mastered. If you have the opportunity to travel to Edinburgh you must not miss this place. If I had to name the ambiance of this place it would be Cozy Elegant. Let the wine pairing happen! You will not be disappointed. The scallop appetizer is a must!
Amazing night out with outstanding food and service
One of the best meals I've ever had. The service was outstanding and the wine pairings with the 10 course meal were perfect. Each dish was so well done in it's own way, my least favourite dishes of the 10 were still great compared to most other places I've been to. Pricey but definitely worth the money if you're wanting to have a fantastic night and try dishes that you wouldn't see elsewhere.
Wonderful food, great experience, orange dessert to die for…
We’re been a few times now for the four course lunch and it’s always been excellent- great food, great service and interesting matching wines. The info on the food and wines really helps one enjoy the meal- although sometimes it’s hard to catch all the details because of the rapid delivery…yesterday the orange dessert was outstanding! Absolutely delicious combination of sweet and sharp flavours. I believe it was its first “outing” …. I hope it comes back! For me the only thing is that the rooms lack “atmosphere” - this isn’t the Witchery but …Overall wonderful lunch experience.
Perfection
Perfect in every way. Elegant, refined and yet friendly and relaxed. The food was so beautiful, the matched wines actually matched and the service was spot on.
I'm really fussy!
I'm the fussiest diner I know and it takes a lot for me to write a glowing review, but I loved everything about lunch today. The service was relaxed and fun, but professional. The staff were very knowledgeable, the food was outstanding and the pairings were interesting and very well matched. The additional 'cheese toastie' course with Perry is a must! Get a table if you can!
Fhior is true to its name
Truly, a very special anniversary lunch for my wife and me - true to the Auld Alliance in combining French and Scottish elements/tones. Our French friends are now hooked on skirlie. Excellent ambiance: stripped Scandi as the pro reviewers say but elegant, comfortable (we were in the window double seat) - and intriguing dishes accompanied by excellent wines and, in my case, a naughty cider to go with the cheese. Staff suitably chatty but not importunate in any way: professional but friendly.
Delicious! Where to start? Everything was outstanding.
The Smoke cocktail was perfectly balanced, showcasing the peaty flavor of the Ardbeg Whisky. The Scallops might have been our favorite course of the tasting menu - although everything was memorable. The small printed map of Scotland with the source of every ingredient reinforced the farm to table orientation. The service was attentive and helpful.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at The Kitchin in
We recently had the pleasure of dining at The Kitchin in Edinburgh. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we felt ensconced in the atmosphere and genuine hospitality the restaurant provided. It was apparent that great care had been taken to create a place that was pleasing and comfortable as the interior décor was cozy and intimate. The Surprise Tasting Menu was diverse and the dishes were crafted with the utmost skill and creativity. Each of the seven courses that we indulged in was a true masterpiece (including the vegetarian versions) because the favors were exquisite and the presentation of each dish was a work of art. The staff was very knowledgeable in describing each dish and you can taste the thoughtfulness and care in every delicious bite. We were very pleased that we decided to also include the wine pairing because we enjoyed learning about each and they complimented each dishes perfectly. The only glitch was that the optional cheese course took a lot longer to be served than the previous courses and then the rest of the courses took longer than usual, as well as receiving our bill at the end, and the dinner service ended up taking 5 hours. Regardless, we had an exceptional meal that we thoroughly enjoyed and will never forget.
This Scottish Michelin star restaurant owned by Tom Kitchin
This Scottish Michelin star restaurant owned by Tom Kitchin of Edinburgh, did not disappoint! The service was impeccable, the food clean and delicious in a contemporary, relaxed ambiance. We arrived for our lunch reservation and were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. Our server greeted us with a daily menu, recommended favorite dishes complete with cocktails/wine pairings. The baked scallops were presented in a scalloped shell and served steaming hot in a creamy white wine sauce. The scallops were fresh, large and tender without a trace of sand/grit. That being said-- you were tempted to throw your head back, and drink the very last drop of gourmet cream sauce straight from the shell! The cheese tray offered an array of tasty morsels with a depth of flavor complimentary to our meals. Ahh-- and the desserts were lovely! They were pretty and delicate... leaving us with 'sweet' summer memories! I'm happy to share, the food and experience were both so good, I simply forgot to take photographs until dessert arrived! The expertise of the chefs, blended with the personable professionalism of the front of the house, made our dinning experience five star. When the chef visited our table to inquire if we enjoyed our courses... we knew we would visit again! Thank you...
A fantastic lunch from nature to table.
The food and service were both wonderful. We started with champagne and light appetizers and then moved effortlessly through the meal. We enjoyed scallops, grouse and venison each dish was fantastic Ly prepared and cooked to perfection. We finished with a lovely soufflé. Definitely a place to savor and enjoy one's meal with friends wine and wonderful food!
Absolutely fantastic.
We were fortunate to get a table for 4 for lunch. From entry to the restaurant to the walk back along the water of Leith it was a great experience. The physical space was lovely with the natural wood elements on the walls and the tartan backed booths. The service was professional and kind. We ordered the fixed menu with wine pairing. I enjoyed the ravioli, beef and lemon soufflé while our party similarly enjoyed the mussels, venison and strawberry dessert. The wine pairings were delicious. Tom Kitchin was in the restaurant and made the rounds through the dining room. Which was the cherry on top of the experience. Highly recommend.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
