Fiola Mare Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Came here for brunch for their brunch menu.
It's $85 for appetizers, entree and dessert and a pastry basket for the table with unlimited brunch drinks. I will say it's a lot of food so come hungry and is beneficial if you like 2-3 drinks like mimosa, Bellini, bloody Mary's. I think if you drink well and eat well $85 is a deal. When we first walked in it felt a little stuffy for me, I think the restaurant makes a huge effort to display elegance but there was a lot of standing around on guard waiting for picking up something or bringing items. Is that a bad thing- not really but idk I just felt a little nervous and watched. Our waiter Matthew was very nice though he answered any questions we may need including what someone else got. The burrata I think had a cool dry ice display and we didn't get and he offered to do smthing for my son who is 4. I declined because I didn't know how my son would take as scary or cool . I got the Hamachi which was very bright. I didn't love but it's a matter of preference honestly. My guest got the colors of the garden salad I think it was called. It was vibrant and interesting. Next I got the salmon scramble - let me say most restaurants do not know how to serve a proper soft scramble. This place did- but it's a whole lot of eggs and super rich I wish they did a little smaller and maybe broke up the richness with greens or a potato. My guest got the ravioli which was smaller and lighter and I think appropriate mix of flavors. The bread basket was nice and mimosa and Bellini were good. I got the donuts to finish and they were good. Again a ton of food so come hungry and leave happy and a little tipsy maybe
Perfect experience
The service and server were top notch. David made our private event perfect. He was so attentive and accommodating and we were not an easy group! We had many food allergies and diets. The food was perfect as well. It was a meal we will all remember for a very long time. And Cristina was terrific with helping g go set all this up for us. Thank you all for making our son and daughter-in-laws wedding dinner a very special and memorable event.
It sounds frustrating when a restaurant experience is marred by poor management.
Our recent visit to a restaurant in Washington, USA, was thoroughly disappointing, primarily due to the behavior of a blonde-haired manager. We were eager to try the place with my wife and kids, but the manager refused to give us a table, citing some flimsy excuses. Despite one staff member's efforts to calm the situation and understanding our hunger, especially with the kids eager to eat, the overall experience was ruined. In a country known for its hospitality, this kind of attitude was unexpected and disheartening.
My friend and I went to Fiola Mare.
We ordered 2 Gin & tonics, one order of scallops, one Spanish fish. The price was $53 for just 3 scallops, which was too salty and the chimichurri sauce was even saltier. The only flavor was salt, nothing else. My friend ordered the Spanish fish, and she paid $78 for it...without the sauce. We later found out they charged $15 for a sauce. They charge a good price for gin and tonic, which was okay because the price was listed there, but then when we inquired what is this additional charge for, we were told it is for the tonic water. That was very cheap and low for this restaurant to add that. Once we pay for Gin and Tonic, we don't expect to also pay extra for tonic water. We go all over the world to fancy restaurants and don't see these sneaky charges anywhere else, not to mention, the food was mediocre.

Deliciousness - 5/5 Happiness - 5/5 It's always nice when expensive restaurants live up to the price. And though I dropped a good chunk of cash here (with no alcohol, it was still over $100/person), I thoroughly enjoyed my time. We sat outside, which I highly recommend when the weather allows. You get a very close view of a pretty stretch of the Potomac, not to mention plenty of fun people-watching given the close proximity to booze cruise boats! And I never tire of sitting waterside. There is a lot of really high end options you don't get at many places. I splurged on caviar (their kaluga black diamond) which was comparatively affordable for caviar (and if your tastes are more fancy, they have higher end/more $$ caviar on the menu too). It was a generous helping that was delicious, especially paired with a sourdough milk toast that was an excellent compliment and tasty AF on its own. My wife got duck-filled ravioli that she quite enjoyed, and I opted (mainly for price) to go with the eggplant/mushroom dish and was not at all disappointed. Not only did the entrees taste great, but they looked fantastic too. A couple at a table next to us got a shellfish appetizer that looked fantastic and came with a very generous helping of oysters. Not everything was A+. I found the Pane Sfogliato (think a croissant shaped into a bun) to be too dry and crunchy (my wife liked it more than me) and the roasted potatoes with added truffle shavings sadly underwhelming (particularly the truffle, which didn't pack the umami punch I look for with truffles). But the food overall was a standout, I'll just plan to go more entree heavy (or add a drink) next time! The servers certainly deserve a shout out. They were quick to serve, very friendly, gave solid recommendations on the menu, and carried on a nice conversation with us as we finished our meal. They are also dressed stylishly and really made us feel special.
Fantastic.
I love this place! Went with family (toddler in tow) they sat us more towards kitchen, which was smart on their end since I had a toddler who is High energy. But that didn't affect the ambiance set up since it is an open kitchen. Service was great as expected and food was amazing. Had several dishes as we did a family style order and everything was delicious.
Why Spoil A Class Restaurant with Terrible Loud Music?
This is a special occasion restaurant in a lovely location with quite good food. We save it for splurges given the expense. But the last two times we've gone, we were so disappointed to sit outside and have speakers piping in terrible 80s music (I mean, the absolute cheesiest with awful lyrics blaring ... LOUDLY! Completely spoiled the atmosphere. Fiola Mare, you can do better for your special occasion guests!
I can't report on anything but the service, which was
I can't report on anything but the service, which was nonexistent. Walked in at 1230 on a Wednesday to get cocktails. The hostess required us to leave our bottled water at the front since they sell bottled water, but she provided us with claim tickets, so all good. We were seated immediately on the patio as requested. A young lady served us water. We asked if a beer menu was available for a member of our party. She said she didn't know what that was but would ask our server. A manager asked how we were. We said fine. Ten minutes later, he stuck his head out, saw we were still unassisted, made eye contact with someone (we assumed the server), and went back inside. After another ten minutes without a soul stopping at our table, we went inside to collect our waters and leave. The hostess seemed surprised and offered to send someone out to the table. If you're charging $25 for cocktails, I shouldn't have to ask the hostess for someone to come to the table after 25+ minutes. Disappointed, as the drinks and ambiance looked nice, but unwilling to sit with a water for an hour waiting to be acknowledged.
This place is just so so so good! Was looking for a place
This place is just so so so good! Was looking for a place to go to for a business dinner and this stood out. Went on like a Tuesday or Thursday night- I think Thursday and it was easy to get a reservation. It was also easy to change this particular day because I had to push it back twice and was able to do this online: Ambiance is cute. And great views being by the water. Honestly ordered a bunch! Couldn't decide so got what the heart desired. The Bronzino was so yummy! The drinks were good! The food was all so Tasty. I loved the rolls and the service was extremely good! Server was on it. Oysters tasted fresh. I would definitely go back again! Parking can be a hit or miss but I found parking fairly easily. I believe there's also valet option. But this place is amazing!
Love it here!

Sat on the patio with my Fiance and the ambience was so lovely! It was so much fun watching the boats pass by on a warm, breezy Sunday. The food was delicious and the waitress was so kind and recommended some great sights to see in DC.
Fantastic selection of wines and seafood.
The location is on the water, so patio or indoor seating are both good. It is pricey, but worth the experience.
I will preface this by saying it has been a little bit
I will preface this by saying it has been a little bit since I went here, so the menu is probably different from when I went. The food was really good. We started off with the spirale di pane, which were delicious and perfectly flaky. I didn't like the tuna crudo appetizer we ordered, but that is mostly because I don't love raw seafood, but other people at the table really liked it. The burrata appetizer was also not as good as we were hoping. I ordered the pork belly as my main dish, and it was tougher than I would have liked. I thought it had really good flavor, and it went well with the peach and vegetables that came with it. I loved the truffle pasta, and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The restaurant was nice enough to give us a complimentary dessert, as we came for my mother's birthday. It was a small lemon cake, and I was told that it was very good. The service was excellent, and I thought the restaurant was beautiful and it is located at a great location near the water. The food is a little bit pricy, and while some of the food felt worth the price, some of the other dishes did not, which is why I gave this restaurant 4 and not 5 stars.
Food, service and ambience were excellent and it was great
Food, service and ambience were excellent and it was great for special occasions like anniversary. See my food pics. Will definitely go back.
Maybe off their game a bit
Lunch for 3. My salad was of romaine lettuce. When it arrived, I noticed the lettuce had red marks on it. You could easily see it as the romaine heads were cut in quarters. These are oxidation marks, indicating the lettuce was old. Since the waiter did not stop by, and I was with friends, so I ate around it. When I next saw the waiter, I asked him to show to the chef. The chef then sent out some sautéed calamari to make up for the mistake. Since I go there only occasionally, I wondered if the kitchen staff thought they could foist old lettuce on me? The grilled fish I ordered was 2 X 3”. Incredibly tiny. The spirale de panne bread was just as delicious as ever.
Amazing Italian
The location of this restaurant is great-walking distance to the Kennedy Center and beautiful Potomac River views. The service is perfect, as is the food. There is an incredible variety of fresh seafood all prepared to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our seafood and pasta dishes, as well as the waiter-recommended burrata with nitro pesto. Highly recommend.
A great sommelier
The view on the Potomac is superb, particularly Arlington across the river at night and the staff very friendly (except for the receptionist who sounds like an IRS agent…..). They have excellent fish and the East-Coast oysters were very good too. Some bizarre features by European standards were that there is no bread but some burned toast they call « focaccia » and a tendency to add things to fish that are splendid if simply grilled and served with a bit of olive oil and lemon. A special mention for the wine sommelier: a true wine connaisseur - I did not catch his name unfortunately - and a man with a passion for wine, he answered all my questions with competence and precision and knew a lot about French, Italian and Swiss wines. We drank a Loire wine that fit the sole perfectly. Prices are abominable, but what the heck, the view is great and life is short anyway……
Meh....
We went here for my sister's birthday, and I wanted to treat her to a special meal. The bar was nice, and drinks were excellent. Dinner wasn't so great--the food was overpriced and my filet mignon was overseasoned (the rice in particular). We also got the sense that they were trying to upcharge us--offering us bread for $10. At restaurants of this caliber (and price point), you shouldn't experience that pressure. Also, we had no view at all, which is why we chose this place. I wouldn't go back.
Words Cannot Do This Pace Justice
This place is expensive. This place is worth it. If you are going to be totally blown away by the bottom line, eat elsewhere. The atmosphere is perfection. The service could not possibly be better. The wine list is extraordinarily extensive, and just a handful of bottles have two digits to the right. Still, we were able to find some excellent bottles that did not require us to skip a mortgage payment. As for the food . . . Have you ever looked at a plate of food and thought, "This is so beautiful, it's art. I cannot possibly eat it." Well, that's what things look like here. You can overcome your fear of eating art, I hope, and have the first taste. Commonly heard: "This is by far the best [fill in the blank] I've ever had." It's not much having dinner out as it is having an amazing experience. Catered. We chose Fiola Mare to celebrate our anniversary. What a great decision. As always, THANK YOU FABIO!
Disappointing and overpriced
dmittedly, this restauran’s claim to fame is a seafood venue, but they shouldn’t pretend that they cater to vegetarians. My pescatarian friend and I went tonight. My friend got the salmon, which was beautifully displayed and served with all the flair and garnish you’d expect from a restaurant at this price point. I made the mistake of getting the vegetarian risotto, which looked like a boring pile of white rice. It did not taste like risotto, and it was visually offensive. If you are a vegetarian or lean towards plant-based dishes, do not go to this restaurant!

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
