Honestly, I did expect more out of this restaurant.
I don't think any of the dishes were bad, but I did not find anything above average, except for the crab fried rice because the green sauce was delicious. The rice salad and chicken wings were a little too salty for me, but the crunch to the chicken was really good. The coconut crab curry and fried fish weren't as flavorful as they could've been. I expected the curry to have more coconut flavor, but it seemed watered down. Overall, I think everything was average. The waiter was incredibly nice and attentive. He gave is good suggestions on what dishes to order and how many for our party of six. We sat outside and it was raining but the patio had a solid roof so the vibe was pretty nice and it was easy to have conversations.
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of the best restaurants in noho.
The whole fish is so good. The staff are very warm and welcoming, gave awesome recommendations. The drinks we had were good, spicy mango and tongue & cheek. I will be back for the Happy Hour for sure!
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant was amazing, it checked out all the boxes
This restaurant was amazing, it checked out all the boxes of great service, food, atmosphere! Prices are pretty on par for New York prices, but with the quality of the food, I would say this place is so worth the price! Even writing this review is making me wish I could be eating here again right now. First of all, make a reservation!! We tried to make a reservation two weeks before on a weekend lunch and there were no reservations. We decided to try our luck with a group of 4 and got there right at opening and were greeted right away and they were able to get us a table as long as we finished up before 1:30pm, which I assume was the next reservation for a table. We were thrilled, as the place quickly filled up after opening. Lots of food items here had the spicy icon next to it, and I don't do the best with spice but it was doable and totally worth it. For appetizers, we did the grilled pork cheeks were delicious, so tender and juicy as well as the corn, which was super good and refreshing. For entrees, we opted for the coconut crab curry and steamed fish which were both delicious!! I feel like it's not often that all the dishes are a hit that we order, but everything was great! I would get everything again and looking forward to coming back here asap

The ambiance here is wonderful, and the staff is very welcoming. I ordered the poached monkfish as an appetizer, and while it was a bit too limey for my taste, pairing it with jasmine rice helped balance the flavors. Overall, it had a pretty good taste, resembling crab more than fish.
Be the first to ReplyWent here for an early dinner last night.
They make you wait for the whole party to be there and I was nervous because I was running 15min behind, but they had a table for us when I got there! Happy hour 7 days a week goes until 6!! We got in at 545 so put in for HH cocktails and oysters right away. Even though it was early and a Sunday this place was still packed (and apparently had a 1 hour wait time for walk ins). The first cocktail I got was the tongue in cheek which I didn't love, too floral tasting for me. My date had the specialty martini which was delicious and I ended up ordering for my second drink! The oysters were average tasting, small in size. Enjoyable enough but certainly not the reason to come here. We then had the wings, which were enormous, hot and juicy haha, with a dry rub that tasted like a more complex version of what's on those "hint o lime" tortilla chips. The crab Woonsen was just okay, kinda just a bowl of noodles with a few pieces of crab, wouldn't order again. However the fried fish was PHENOMENAL- perfectly cooked with all these fresh herbs and vinaigrette, this dish definitely made the meal. Vibes were good, busy and loud but not to an unbearable level at all. Service was pretty good too! Waitress was attentive and nice... there was a weird moment where I followed up on my cocktail order and she was like, you never ordered a cocktail, and I had to be like haha no um er we actually had a whole conversation about it hah - it's like, just say you forgot don't gaslight me! But she was so nice otherwise. Even though I only found half the dishes to be really good, I'd still want to come back and try more items, because the menu looks amazing and the food that was good was SO SOOO good!
Be the first to ReplyI was really excited to try Fish Cheeks as I had heard so
I was really excited to try Fish Cheeks as I had heard so many great things about the place. We got outdoor seating in the outdoor tents they have set up which was really lovely and private and perfect for my date night. Our server was incredibly attentive. We ordered a Thai iced coffee, Zabb chicken, and the famous spicy crab curry. I thought the Zabb chicken was good, an interesting and unique spice blend I've never tasted before, but I wish it had come with a sauce. The flavors were kind of overpowering and overwhelming at times and it would've paired nicely with a sweet and sour sauce or an egg roll dipping sauce. The spicy crab curry was also very good but I found it a small portion for the cost. Everything was pretty pricey for the size and that was my main gripe with the place, especially for all the raving reviews I had heard about Fish Cheeks previously. Overall, great food but not worth the price.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Food.
Cool Ambiance. Excellent Service. I don't know about others but most of the time I would think of Thai food it would be a quick lunch or a casual dinner. This is neither a quick lunch nor a casual dinner. Food is top notch. The Manhattan gives its corrections to the pricing obviously but this place still is worth every penny. Prawn Karee that my daughter loved. The Panang Negroni and Spicy Mango cocktails. Pork Belly Pad Kaprow, oysters, Rainbow Trout all delicious, all wonderfully presented but make sure you have the reservation because the place gets really really really busy.
Be the first to ReplyWe managed to get a walk in table on a Friday night.
The service was quick and helpful. It was def a bit crowded and hectic but the meal was so fantastic that we didn't mind. All the dishes we got were incredible but the seafood focused stuff was the highlight for sure. We will be back again soon!
Be the first to ReplyCoconut crab curry was a Thai hug in a bowl.
Spicy, creamy, rich, and complicated flavors all over perfect sticky jasmine rice. Attentive and kind waitstaff
Be the first to ReplyHuge restaurant and was very excited to try as I usually
Huge restaurant and was very excited to try as I usually don't have much Thai food! Servers were especially friendly and happy to provide recommendations and describe the dishes. However, for the price the portions are definitely way too small. We got the Thai tea - 3/5 standard, good not great. Sweet Zabb wings - 3.5/5 really nice seasoning and very sour! Only ranked lower because I was not used to eating wings so sour so more of a personal preference. Cook was great too Coconut crab curry - 3.5/5 was excited for the spice as it's one of the spiciest items on the menu and they warned us it's Thai level spicy. It absolutely is not Thai level spicy. It does have a kick but I would say more like a one pepper level and not even close to Thai spicy. Besides it not being spicy, the curry has wonderful soft crab chunks and really nice curry flavor! Lobster tom yum - 3.75/5 this was my favorite item but I don't think I'd get it again due to the price. It does have a bunch of great quality mussels and lobster was yummy too! It was less sour than I expected and had a really nice balanced seafood flavor throughout that I enjoyed. My friend who loves Tom yum said it is missing some oomphs but me who never has Tom yum thought it was still pretty yummy
Be the first to ReplyGet the crab fried rice it's so good.
I'm happy they expanded I love to see a great restaurant thrive and grow. Service is good here very attentive. It's a cute place for a girls night out or a quick date
Be the first to ReplyFish Cheeks is the place to go for high end tapas.
I hadn't tried many of these dishes before, but this restaurant was the perfect way to introduce myself to tasty new foods. Portions were just right, and they were great to share with a group of people.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to eat fish.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food, my only complaint is that portions are tiny
Amazing food, my only complaint is that portions are tiny and prices are high, I usually have to spend $100+ without alcohol to be full here.

Spent some time in New York this past weekend and stumbled into this gem. This place got recommended a few times, and we were in the neighborhood, so we decided to give it a try. We managed to sneak in before the the end of happy hour, and boy are we glad we did. $9 for 1/2 dozen oysters and $11 dollar cocktails (that's basically free). We ordered a couple of entrees with our drinks, but the star of the show was by far the Calamari. The Calamari was for sure the best dish I've had in the past year; perfectly cooked with cilantro, pickled garlic, chilis, and a tamarind and fish sauce glaze. Everything else was delicious and unique as well. If I lived in NY, this place would definitely be in the regular rotation.

Had a dinner with my friend who hasn't seen each other for 7years. We ordered the fried fish and pork cheeks kinda like port belly) so tender! and Crab fried rice which tastes so savory! They all tastes satiated! I'd love to come again! The service is nice as well. Ambience is cosy.
Be the first to ReplyBest place to go when you're looking for seafood.
I enjoyed my time there, and the food was outstanding.
Be the first to ReplyBest food I've had all year.
The oysters with green sauce was amazing. I wish I could take the sauce w me everywhere. We had the steamed fish, crab curry, prawn curry and crab fried rice. I couldn't decide which was my favorite. Every time I took a bite of something the food tasted better and better.
Be the first to Replycrab fried rice is my go-to.
The sesame cocktail and fish sauce cocktail are surprisingly so good. The only flaw is the wait for the restroom is ridiculously long. Maybe they should add another toilet.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is not worth the price, even for happy hour.
We made a reservation for 5pm happy hour on a Thursday night. We ordered 4 drinks ($44), pork cheeks ($17), coconut crab curry ($30), and one other thing I can't remember because I started writing this review months ago and just decided to finish it. All I remember about this dinner is that was overpriced, there were barely any vegetables in the already over priced dishes, and finally our waiter put on an overly excited fake waiter voice that was frankly condescending and annoying. There are plenty of more authentic options in town that taste better and have better value.
Be the first to ReplyThis is my 3rd time coming to this restaurant and it never
This is my 3rd time coming to this restaurant and it never disappoints, I ordered the steamed fish with Thai herbs, zabb wings and 3 dozen oysters. The subtle kick from the chili lime wings is always amazing, the fresh oysters with the fried shallots and green salsa are the perfect combo and fish is great too, def alil spicy tho with the red peppers so just make sure to not eat that if you don't like spice. For the drink I ordered the pandan lemongrass iced tea, it wasn't my favorite but I wanted to branch out a-little bit, I love the ambiance and service. My friends also got some drinks and extra dishes that I didn't fry but they all enjoyed it. I do have to say though since the last time I was here the prices have gone up but I guess that's not surprising. Also it was for my birthday so they brought out 3 ice creams for the table. Only downside I have to say is that they didn't ask if we wanted that many but it was a nice gesture. and they put the ice cream on the bill and auto charged 20% gratuity and NY tax so it definitely is a little pricey~ bill came out to about 460 dollars. But other than that great food and great service
Be the first to Replycame by during happy hour for $18/doz oysters.
they had shallots and a unique green sauce that went really well together. the oysters were good but pretty small, I would probably only get them during happy hour times (usually $34/doz). We also ordered the coconut crab curry and steamed fish. Both dishes were on the spicy/tangy side, so I would only recommend it if you enjoy spice! I loved both dishes -- will definitely be back!!
Be the first to ReplyOK I have now been to fish cheeks 3x and loved it every
OK I have now been to fish cheeks 3x and loved it every time, so I'm finally writing a review of everything I've gotten to eat. It's a long one.APPETIZERS: Grilled pork cheeks - these are the single most delicious things I've ever eaten. If you go here, and you don't order these, you are wrong, and I am judging you (unless you have dietary restrictions and don't/can't eat pork, in which case it's fine). They are so TENDER it's like eating meat butter, and the sauce is so delicious that we literally drink it. Crispy rice salad & pork - DELICIOUS, just the right amount of spicy, so many fun textures. I just had this last night and I want it again like, right now.Manila clams with sweet basil - 0/10 would not order again. The only disappointing thing on the menu. Not because they're not delicious - they are SO good - but because we paid $18 for 5 tiny tiny clams. That is absolutely absurd and was wildly irritating, but I was having such a nice time it didn't matter too much. The sauce is also divine. But not worth the money.Zarb wings - the lemongrass powder they use on these is the kind of thing you will lick off of your fingers. I was a little skeptical of dry wings and I was proven wrong (though I wish they came with a dipping sauce just because that would be fun). They are so crunchy and delicious, and the taste is absolutely magical. Somtum corn salad - it's fine! It's not super exciting, but if you need a vegetable it is there.ENTREES:Coconut crab curry - I do think this is worth the hype. It is SO spicy it will have tears rolling down your face, but you won't be able to stop eating. I love the creamy curry and the juicy crab. I wish there was slightly more crab, because it's kind of like, a soup where you have to find crab meat sometimes? But all in all it is delicious. Khua Kling - omg, I tried this for the first time last night and was totally blown away. The meat is so juicy and the spice is incredible. I thought they did a really good job of balancing a ton of flavor with the four-chili-pepper spice rating. Grilled king mackerel - to be honest, this wasn't my personal favorite thing. I wasn't really getting any of the fish sauce caramel/sweet and sour dressing. To me it was a little boring. However, I was in the total minority, because everyone else at the table thought it was amazing, so I have to concede that I'm probably just wrong. The fish was perfectly cooked in terms of texture.Steamed fish with Thai herbs - Having tried this, and also having tried the mackerel above, I really prefer the steamed fish with herbs! It's so juicy and flavorful and brothy and phenomenal. I love the medley of flavors and how well they blend on your tongue with the fish that is just flaking apart as you eat it because it's so soft and steamed so nicely. DRINKS:Thank You Kha - I keep on trying other drinks that are not the thank you kha, and they're great, but then I regret not getting the thank you kha. Every time. Have also tried the Soi 38, the Panang Negroni, and the Nam Gin Martini, and they are all delicious! But just get the Thank You Kha. It's the best drink on the menu by a long shot. DESSERT:I get the mango sticky rice every time. I know there are other things and they look great, but I am a fiend for a mango sticky rice and theirs is perfect. The rice is the ideal salty/sweet/sticky and the mango is so soft and juicy. SERVICE/VIBES:I have really never had a bad experience here. Our servers are always so kind, friendly, and fun. Last night, we had Clement (I hope I'm getting their name right) and they were amazing. When. I was eating the crispy rice salad last night, I was so over-enthused that I accidentally ate an entire dried chili pepper. Safe to say my tongue was burning. Clement very kindly brought me a literal shot glass of milk, as well as several cups of ice cubes, so that I could keep enjoying spicy food without totally dying. They were super nice and their service was exemplary. Also, every person working there is so friendly and wonderful and ready to help you out. I love the vibes here, it's such a great time. ALTOGETHER:I know some dishes are a miss, but I cannot help myself from giving Fish Cheeks 5 stars, because almost everything is like, the most delicious thing I've ever tried. This restaurant is so fun, the atmosphere is loud but not too loud and beyond wonderful, the food is great, the spice is out of this world, and the service is amazing. Sorry this was such a long review!

From the lemonade to the crab curry, a surprise and delicious. Light, airy vibe with superb service. Great happy hour oyster special too!!!

OMG DELICIOUS!!!!! Had reservations for Friday at 5pm, which I completely recommend if you can get there that early because there's a Happy Hour from 5-6PM ($9 half dozen oysters, $11 cocktails, $10 wine). I absolutely loved everything I ate here and am still craving those Zabb wings since I've left. Service is also super nice and attentive. Here's what we ordered:- Oysters: Super fresh. I loved that they were the smaller oysters vs large blue points. They were mild and clean. I would caution (similar to other people) not to add too much of the green sauce because it will completely overpower the mild, clean taste of the oyster. BUT SAVE IT FOR THE WINGS!!!- Zabb wings: DROOL WORTHY. They were savory umami with a little zest from the makrut leaves and lemongrass. Not oily to touch, but still super crispy and moist on the insider. Definitely takes skills to make well. Make sure to dip the wings into the GREEN SAUCE from the oysters!- Coconut Crab Curry: Really creamy and good chunks of crab meat. A little kick. Not the most memorable, but it is still a really good dish.- Khua Kling: This is SPICYYY. I definitely still loved it and it was so so good. It was savory and delicious. I may have looked like I was dying, but I still wanted just one more piece. Our server did suggest to order something a little less spicy, given the crab curry also has a kick, and I admit I did not listen, but no regret! Painful, but still delicious.- Pandan ice cream with coconut and taro: It is mild and nothing mind blowing, but definitely needed something to calm down my tongue after I ate 5 too many pieces of Khua Kling. Cocktails: - Spicy Mango: Wish they put a salt rim to make it like a margarita. Refreshing, not too sweet, and a little kick at the end- Panang Negroni: Strong on the campari and vermouth. But if you like a negroni, it's good! - Soi 38: This was interesting. Can't put my finger on it, but it was very unique. A little pandan scent, but not sweet. Overall, I LOVED Fish Cheeks. I'm so happy our friend recommended us to try it. It was not gimmicky or catered for IG influencers. It was unique and delicious and I can't wait to come back soon!
