We had an early reservation (5:30) to have a nice long dinner and still make our show. And there was a line to get seated! Very busy place. We were greeted kindly, and asked if it was a special occasion. Nice touch. Seated promptly, and at a decent table. The water was Fantastic! Knew his wine and food. I ordered the dry aged prime rib-eye, and mom ordered the 11 oz filet mignon, both medium rare. I was happy that mine came out just shy of medium rare (which I like), and hers was perfectly cooked. HUGE portions, and we took home leftovers. Sides were a very shareable creamed spinach, which was delish, and the roasted asparagus, which looked a little overdone, but wasn’t. Very tasty, and nicely seasoned. The bread. The bread is an excuse for the champagne-Brie and the smoked cheddar butters. They brought a second loaf and more butter, AND the young man who boxed up our leftovers boxed up another fresh loaf and more butter. The waiter (forgot his name) brought Mom and I a little box of chocolate truffles to finish with our very nice bottle of red wine. No charge. The only reason I dropped a star….was my dry aged steak. It didn’t wow me. The meat itself was very good, and had the real “gamy” beef flavor of a dry-aged beef. BUT, you gotta be careful with it…or the fat will turn a little rancid. I got a couple of sour bites in my fatty parts off the steak, and it wasn’t as tender as I had expected. Still, I just cut off the fat parts, and all was well. Seared the leftover piece, and ate it with the bread and butter and leftover spinach, and I’m happy. Would I go back? Likely not, but only because there are so many other steak places to explore. Now, I WOULD go back to Gordon Ramsey’s Steakhouse, but only after I save a few more $$. All in all, a nice time, nice ambiance, wonderful staff, and decent food.
