Loved this spot! The service was incredible.
We interacted with about three or four different waiters, all of whom were so nice, welcoming and helpful. The pasta was so fresh and delicious. (Recommend both the cacio e pepe and carbonara as well as a short rib pasta.) But even as great as the food was, it really was the staff and the vibe of the restaurant that made our experience. They all went so above and beyond and were just so kind to us which I feel like can be hard to find in the city nowadays. Would recommend this to anyone as a cute date spot.

I had heard amazing things about their food, so made a reservation on Resy. My plans changed and I emailed their reservations desk 11.5 hours prior to the reservation time. They still charged me $100 for being within the 12-hour cancel window. Will never go here. Their lack of flexibility is unfortunate.

The food, atmosphere and service were fantastic. Small and quaint, this was the perfect spot for a relaxing dinner with my daughter.

Super cutesy spot for a date! We loved everything we order from app to pasta. The service was attentive and not pushy. They have some interesting mocktail/zero proof wine options. We did a la carte but you can do a prix fixe menu as well. The menu is highly seasonal I think so you can always try something new when you go.

5: Forsythia is described as a Roman trattoria offering a menu that highlights seasonal ingredients. They have a fixed menu for dinner, in which we were able to try: +asparago - asparagus with brown butter and preserved lemon; this was a great starter and an option for asparagus lovers +piselli - peas, ricotta salata, and pistachios +suppli - risotto with buffalo mozzarella and cacio e pepe crema; this was a bit too mushy for our taste +broccolo - with Calabrian chilis, herb aioli, and cured egg yolk +agnolotti - braised short ribs, duck jus, and chives; supposedly the most popular dish here +tortelli - with crab, mascarpone, and basil +pappardelle - with ramps, morels, and mushroom brodo +bucatini - with tomatoes, guanciale, and black pepper The interior is cute, with the exposed brick and the arched sills that held vases. Service was okay. +fixed menu offers +okay service

The restaurant is nicely decorated and quaint, although servers are constantly walking out the door to the kitchen which is nextdoor. For starters we shared the supplì which is a fried risotto ball. It had a nice cheesy flavor, however the risotto itself was overcooked so it was more like a cheesy rice donut since the individual risotto grains were indistinguishable. Given the single fried ball was $29 a more proper doneness was expected. We split three pasta dishes for the main course. The agnolotti with the braised short rib filling was slightly underdone and incredibly salty which masked the complex flavor and effort that would have gone into the short rib filling and the pasta itself. The tagliatelle was nicely cooked with a simple but very tasty veal ragù. This was our favorite dish. Finally the tortelloni in brodo which again a little salty but had a very nice herbaceous broth which had great complexity of flavor. For dessert I had a limoncello gelato that was very light and airy. This was nice tasting but it was not gelato given how much air was whipped into it. I hope if I return in the future that they let the beautiful hand made pastas and fillings speak for themselves with proper doneness and seasoning. Make the trip a couple blocks over to the lower east side for better Italian food at a better price
Be the first to ReplyPastas were fresh although a little thick and doughy.
Sauces were better than ok but lacked depth and missed flavor. The porchetta is out of this world delicious. I mean it is incredible. The service is outstanding and everyone is very kind and welcoming.

We woke up with food poisoning after eating here. And this place is a rip off. The waiter was pushing us to spend more money after we already ordered a bottle of wine, two main courses, and an appetizer for two people, he said "are you sure you want to eat that light tonight? You should really consider getting something else too." The bread is free but the butter that comes with it is 5$? The appetizer (fried risotto) came and it was only one tiny piece to share between two people. When we asked for gelato at the end, the waitress brought two scoops over without checking that we each wanted our own scoop. So many subtle ways of penny pinching and it's just so obvious and off putting. Never once experienced this level of price gauging at i sodi or il cantinori or any other "fancier" italian place. Also they made us leave our table after an hour and 20 minutes because another party was waiting. Just horrible service. To wake up with food poisoning was a great touch. Never returning here

Yes We did the prix fixe option which allows each person to choose 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert. We were SO FULL after. Everything we tried was impressive - zucca, suppli, agnolotti, tagliatelle, maritozzo. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I'd skip the venison tartare just because there's prob more exciting things to try. Restaurant also has a cute vibe going
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful pasta dishes.
Our fav is the agnolotti. Good service, cozy vibes. The giant meatball was okay.. arancini is good. Overall, pastas and dessert are the winners.
Be the first to ReplyThe place is fine.
We had the pre-fix and honestly it was not worth the expensive tag. Nothing in the menu was so good that it would justify the price but nothing was bad either. I have had way better Italian elsewhere and did not hurt my wallet. There is no Ambiance to judge its a very small place. Service was great since it really did not have many tables to serve.
Be the first to ReplySuper fire meal.
.. pre fixe dinner was AWESOME. Everything i tried was awesome-- salad with the caciocavallo & fried shallots, cacio e pepe fried risotto, braised short rib agnolotti 10/10!!!!! Giving 4 stars for 2 reasons-- because carbonara was 9/10 only because im picky and ate carbonara nearly every day when i studied abroad in Italy & nothing will ever compare (still really good though) , and second because i wish the menu was a bit more diverse regarding the sauce types of the dishes. Everything was amazing but every course was a cheesy dish which eventually just became too much/too rich. There were multiple options per each course of course, but i had wished there was a red sauce dish, or a lighter brothy dish, etc. Overall though 4.5/5 stars and 9/10 meal. Amazing service also!!!! And gave me complimentary tiramisu for my birthday which was greatly appreciated

I was super excited to try out forsythia and was really hoping for yummy Italian food which I was missing after our trip to rome. However forsythia disappointed. 1. We got seated near the exit where the servers were constantly going back and forth and creating disruption, 2. There was no amuse bouche, 3. For the third course we got the foglie d'ulivo which was very bad, it felt like eating boiled pasta without any flavor, 4. For the fourth course I got the tortelli di castagne and my husband got the carbonara. The tortelli was probably the highlight of our dinner and the carbonara was equally disappointing and was way too cheesy. 5. The desserts were below average too. One was cream puff and the other a chocolate sorbet which wasn't great. All in all it was an average experience.
Be the first to ReplyMy fiancé and I had the best meal at Forsythia.
We made a reservation for their outdoor patio (which was very cute) but when we got there, we asked if we could be seated inside and they accommodated us immediately in the section of their restaurant that is typically used for classes (very cool). We ended up being the only ones in there for more than half our meal which was honestly very nice and intimate. All of the food was unbelievable, the waitress was so nice and perfectly attentive, and we even saw one of their employees (shout out to Nick) preparing some of the fresh pasta. He was nice enough to answer some of our questions and really made the meal special. Would recommend to anyone looking for a delicious italian dinner.

Has the opportunity to do a pasta making class with Jason and it was amazing! The experience is about 2-3 hours and we made our pasta fresh, cooked it & ate it afterwards. We learned how to make 5 different shapes of pasta and the evening included wine and fresh bread as well. The class was intimate and in a really cute space. Highly recommend for a girls or date night! Please support your local businesses!

Came here for dinner with a friend and everything was superb, from the food to drinks to service! We ordered a la carte from the holiday menu and got the scallops, a Japanese steamed egg appetizer, and two pastas (would especially recommend the mushroom ragu, but all the food was amazing). I liked that the bread also came with 3 different spreads which was a fun touch. The service was really friendly and not snooty like some more upscale restaurants in NY can be. I will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for the holiday tasting menu.
Overall really delicious Italian food, veal ragu pasta and tortellini in brodo were two of my favorite dishes. They cook it perfectly. The only downside was restaurant is quite tiny we were sitting outside patio so you are basically having fine dining on the street. After the couple appetizers we were waiting 35 minutes until they bring out one pasta dish. They said it was the first night of their tasting menu so they were trying to figure out timing, understandable.Black truffle suppli- GreatScallop with caviar- Amazing ,very fresh not fishy at allChawanmushi- Didn't care about this Pasta with veal ragu- MUST order Chestnut tortellini- Delicious Tortellini in brodo- The best I've ever had, must try
Be the first to ReplyMy friend hyped about this place for a long time in front
My friend hyped about this place for a long time in front of me so ofc I had to come try it, we ordered several plates including:1. The short rib agnolotti: (Agnolotti Di Coda Alla Vaccinara): this one was my fav of the night, it literally melted right away in my mouth and i absolutely love the taste. BUT it's almost 40 dollars but it's also 3 spoonful size so it's pretty outrageously overpriced in my opinion. 2. Corn and mushroom ravioli: (doppio ravioli di mais e funghi): my friend came here last time and have tasted this before, the corn was way burnt this time and it actually ruining the dish, we tried to ask them because the corn was all completely burnt and got no apology but just bunch of "oh we made this like this all the time" yeah right so u under burnt the corn last time? 3. Roasted squash appetizer: this one is so interesting, im a big fan of squash and mushrooms, it combines both, u need to eat it all in one bite, and the sauce the seed would work it's magic. 4. Pistachio cake: okay so, their pastry chef wasn't there and they only had one small dessert for choice, it wasn't even good.it's legit dry and small.Atmosphere is good, food wise Im sure it had better days but I didn't experience it at all.

Came here with a friend on a Tuesday at 545 where we were able to get a reservation for 2 for the a la carte menu. Dishes are about 30-40$ each and they recommend 2-3 dishes per person. Definitely good for a special occasion. I would suggest the mushroom pasta and the scallops! The pasta is a broth base reduction so the flavors of the mushroom was stronger and more flavorful. The veal pasta was a bit more bland in comparison but still pretty good. Overall a good experience and the service was great.

Heard a lord of good things about this place and it did not disappoint. There is a pre fixe menu that includes 4 courses and dessert. Honestly you get a lot of food for the $75. The octopus was okay, nothing crazy special about it but it was decent. The cacio e Pepe arancini however was amazing. I'd come here you again just for this dish alone. I also got the potato dumpling dish and the carbonara. Both were really tasty. The tiramisu sundae for dessert was phenomenal as well. Will definitely be back.

What's not to love! The hospitality, the home made pasta, the quaint & cozy atmosphere. This place has never disappointed me and I will continue to come back! The owners are always coming up with something new and truly make the experience worthwhile. I dream about the suppli & mezze maniche alla norma servers are also super knowledgable about the wine and make amazing recommendations.
Be the first to ReplyService is really good here which makes the experience
Service is really good here which makes the experience pleasant but food is just average (or below average for some items) IMO. Polpetta was good but too salty. I have low salt tolerance but it was even salty for my friend.Zuppa was nothing to write about.Agnolotti was good not mind blowing but good.Carbonara was just bad. I don't understand the hype about this place.
Be the first to ReplyArguably the best homemade pasta in New York City.
Indisputably my favorite restaurant. Have been here 10+ times. The food is consistently superb, the staff is attentive, the atmosphere is cozy, and the menu changes frequently. The restaurant recently moved to a pre-fixe menu only format, allowing you to choose 4 savory dishes and a dessert for $75. The portions are modest given the price. Highlights: the Polpetta dal Santo Polato (braised and then Fried short rib meatball) is a must. The Suppli (fried cacio e pepe risotto, mozzarella di bufala) also hits the spot. The seasonal salads are always a hit. The Agnolotti stuffed with short ribs are heavenly. The Carbonara is another favorite of mine, but is certainly rich. I'd also recommend their homemade gelato to finish the meal off with something sweet.
