Celebrate my birthday here with my boyfriend.
These past is so amazing lovely stuff good why and very very very good food. If you're looking for a place that very nice for your birthday or date night with your love one this place is a must try.
Be the first to ReplyClearly deserves the second star.
Great staff, amazing food, incredible attention to detail. I seldomly go to Michelin star restaurants in NYC thinking it was worth it, but in this case I left thinking about when I can come back next. Congrats to Franco, Emiliano and the whole staff!

Frevo was a work of art! I arrived at the entrance with several paintings on the wall and a group of people were waiting there. Then one of the paintings opened and we walked into the actual restaurant. I thought this was the most unique and entertaining entrance! We sit down on the bar and were able to watch the chefs do their magic. Our servers were very attentive and nice. Their food were really pieces of art, my soup truly looked like a painting in the bowl as you see from the photos. The taste was so carefully planned out between each course and each combination. It was truly a wonderful experience to be able to dine at Frevo. Very deserving of its Michelin star. I would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale yet unique and interesting dining experience!

We came to Frevo for a birthday celebration, and when you arrive, you'll have some time to appreciate some of the artwork in their art gallery. Once your reservation is confirmed, you're led to an entryway behind one of the portraits - HA! The menu is a set tasting menu that implements seasonal ingredients. Our menu included: +Shima-Aji - with shiso and trout roe +Artichoke - with shitake, truffle, and the option to add Hokkaido sea urchin +Broccoli - with orange and blue crab +Naan - with tofu and shabazi +Amberjack - with jalapeno, curry leaves, and almonds +White Asparagus - with cashew and an option to add caviar and white asparagus ice cream +Madai - with shimeji and yuzu kosho +Zabuton Wagyu - with maitake and chives +35-month comte cheese - served with honey and truffles +and, ending with Chocolate - with wasabi and porcini There is also a wine and premium pairing, in which some of our guests partook in. Being seated at the counter is best, as you can see the chefs prepare and assemble the meals. Service was friendly and attentive. +hidden restaurant in a gallery +friendly service

A special occasion dinner for sure and would highly recommend. I would say the "art gallery" element is way overplayed. There's a handful of paintings scattered throughout but none that a lay person would be impressed by. You're here for the food.
Be the first to ReplyBrought my friend here for her birthday.
The restaurant is in the back of an art gallery which rotates along with the menu each season. The venue is medium sized with a long chef counter and several tables in the back. We sat at the counter watching the chefs prepare our meal. Overall, the tasting menu was good. The food was well prepared with some inconsistencies between taste profiles. The milk bread was my favorite o I hope they keep that on the menu. Service was great as everyone was attentive. Would recommend trying at least once.

My friend brought me here for my birthday, and it was such a lovely night! When you get to the spot, you'll be greeted by someone in the gallery space, where you can admire some of the art pieces. Once confirmed, you will be led through a hidden entranceway behind one of the portraits. The space itself was stylish - very cool and minimalistic. My friend got us a spot at the counter, which let us watch the chefs in action. The courses were all really well done and delicious. While some of the dishes were a little overpowering (specifically a bit too tart or salty), there were some standouts. I especially loved the Madai and Carrot courses, and my absolute favorite from the night was the Milk Bread. The service was outstanding, as expected. And to keep things interesting, they change up their menus every season. All in all, it was a great experience, and I'm definitely curious to try some of the other seasonal menus in the future.
Be the first to ReplyI was fortunate enough to make it in to Frevo with friends
I was fortunate enough to make it in to Frevo with friends to celebrate my birthday. We had the 9pm seating and showed up right around time to wait inside the gallery. After the exciting entrance (via a picture!) we were seated at the bar and the experience got started. We had the July 2023 menu with the wine pairing, so enjoyed a series of 10 courses. I really can't say that anything was a negative. From the truffle shitake donut and naan to the lamb and aged cheese, everything was well presented and tasted amazing. The wine pairings were also great to enhance the flavors of each course. Service was exceptional. The servers and sommeliers did a great job of explaining everything and were attentive throughout the evening. We really felt taken care of! The ambiance is also on point. Apart from the speakeasy restaurant vibe, being able to sit at the bar and enjoy the action made for an even better experience. Overall, I can't recommend Frevo enough. If you want to have an unforgettable experience, run to make a reservation!

Waiting to travel, enjoy the best cuisine, or any experience for that matter until you're entangled in a relationship is just wasting the limited precious time you have. That time is finite, at least until we develop Altered Carbon. One aspect I admire & follow from the leaders I seek to emulate they always carve their own path even when solo. In fact, a large amount of data exists that demonstrates that being successfully independent, happy, at peace, outside the constructs of a relationship will yield a far more successful partnership when one decides to pursue it. It took me too long to realize this. Now I regularly practice self-dates that include all sorts of variety. I value peace over chaos. So when I came across a concept that merges cuisine and modern art at the @michelinguide Michelin Star level I had to experience it, to feel it. @frevonyc in Manhattan from Brazilian chef Franco Sampogna and Portuguese restaurateur Bernardo Silva absolutely blew my mind. It felt like I was dining in an exclusive underground room at the Moma. The food was exquisite, and perfectly paired with the best compliments of wine I've had from a sommelier. I'd list the entire fixed price journey of tastes but I included a picture of the menu this time. This spot is a true gem my friends. It was the perfect self date! Perfect flavors! Most importantly, your take away from this, never wait to live, ever! You could die today. Now I need to find those wines here in Vegas.
Be the first to ReplyShould be two Michelin stars.
Love the speakeasy entrance and the art. Definitely one of my favorite experiences in the NYC tasting scene so far. Each dish other than the amberjack was delicious.

Semi-hard to get into. Interesting menu with I would say primarily French influences with a good amount of Japanese touches. A lot of nuts in dishes so if you have a cashew allergy I would definitely stay away. Mostly worth it for $198 though I think the cheese course could stay a supplement like before.I was at this interesting 1 Michelin Star restaurant with two/three others two nights ago. Several others were dining and people were dressed nicely with a few eating solely and it was pretty quiet with a relaxed atmosphere. The space is nice and the staff who was my primary waiter was friendly. Our first course or rather first bite was Shima-aji or striped jack with shiso and trout roe which was served in a miniature nori shell. This reminded me to an extent of the beginning of 63 Clinton thinks to the smoky tasty trout roe but in this case it was even tinier. Outside of this, the fish was of course fresh and the shiso added a wonderful freshness and I would describe this more as an amuse-bouche rather than a first course. The 2nd course was Artichoke with shitake and truffle which had an available supplement of Hokkaido sea urchin for $35. This was served as a donut with the other person getting a pretty substantial amount of uni on theirs but there better be for that supplement price. The donut was light but the topping was a bit too salty. The third course was Broccoli with orange and blue crab in this case served as a soup. The broccoli added crunch and a nice texture but the orange didn't work as I believe it was was candied as it wasn't really necessary with the already sweet crab. I think a more citrusy fruit would work better (perhaps passion fruit) and balance the crab better instead of putting sweet on sweet. The 4th course was Naan with tofu and shabazi which was essentially their bread course. I was surprised it was served this far through the meal. The naan was soft and delicious and better quality than most fancy Indian restaurants I've been to outside of it being less oily. The tofu was very soft essentially being a silken tofu spread and the shabazi (which is similar to zhoug, a Levantine hot sauce) added a little bit of tartness and spice but it could have used a bit more. This was alright but I think it could have been much earlier in the meal. The Amberjack with jalapeno, curry leaves, and almond was the 5th course. This was served raw and the fish had a good texture. There wasn't that many jalapenos so it kind of lacked the spiciness I would have expected and there was a little bit of sweetness (I believe online lists that there's also cashew cream in this) which works here. The almonds added some light crunch and the curry leaves were fried adding another nice texture. This was a pretty good Dish as well. The White Asparagus with cashew was a surprising highlight and was the other dish with a very expensive supplement (caviar white asparagus ice cream for $55.) The asparagus just like the dishes after this was perfectly grilled and the sweet cashew paired quite well and reminded me to an extent of Moqueca. The Madai with shimeji and yuzu koshu was made on a Japanese grill which caused a little bit of steam in the air. This consisted of a nice sized piece of fish and it was perfectly grilled possibly better than the other place I've been to. They listed that it was done on a Japanese Grill (or shichirin.) The shimeji added good flavor with my only complaint that the yuzu koshu was light resembling more regular yuzu than the former. The Zabuton Wagyu with maitake and chives was another pretty good dish and was made on the same grill. The name of the cut refers to the cut also known as a Denver steak and is part of the chuck and the flavor and spices reminded me a little bit too much of brisket outside of of course it's tenderness. The maitake was made into a foam which added some earthiness and the chive was a light sauce; perhaps too light with the rich beef. The first dessert course was 36-Month Aged Comte Cheese with honey and truffle. I watched the effort of one of the chefs shaving the cheese into small pieces per order which looked quite tiring and the cheese in particular was delicious. The truffle in this case was honey and the ice cream was also honey. I think a bit more of the ice cream would pair better. This used to be a $30 separate supplement and I think it could stay as such. The Chocolate with wasabi and porcini was the other dessert. The wasabi was an ice cream and the porcini was turned into an earthy tasty caramel and there was also a chocolate shell which I believe had some hazelnuts or some other type of nut and it had a good crunch. I generally don't like wasabi at all and thankfully there was that much of it on the plate. I mostly had it separate and after merging, it partially worked. We ended with pretty good petit fours (salted caramel choux and cardamom tart) but just like our meal, I'm out of space to write more. Mid 4.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best dining experiences in New York City.
Expected very little and was blown away. Inventive but delicious. Every course was outstanding. The staff was attentive without being fawning. A repeat. I strongly recommend but not inexpensive.

If you have a controlled sodium intake diet this isn't the place for you. We arrived first yet we were seated later on in the worst seat with the speakers blaring. Kindly asked to switch seating and was able to get a open kitchen facing seat in the center of the bar. The pour of wine is very stingy. Each plate from start to where we decided to end our meal was beyond salty. So salty my throat and tongue was numb. Now for the worst of it all.... The cooks have stainless steel containers on their counters and they use and reuse the same spoons to stir, taste, plate and serve. All 5-6 cooks just grab the same used spoons to slurp, stir and plate. The wave of nausea came over me when I saw this happening. So if you need to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level and you like to not consume everyone's mouth germs in your food then avoid at all costs and the cost is not cheap.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing.
We have been to multiple other similar cost tasting menus in the city and Frevo blows them all out of the water. Every course was delicious. The service, the ambiance, the presentation and all were amazing. One of us did the wine tasting pairing (+$135) and the other did by the glass, I will say by the glass was probably better and also definitely a better value. Everything tasted as good or better than it looked!! If you want a special occasion meal and have the splurge budget this is an amazing restaurant!!
Be the first to ReplyI recently dined at Frevo in New York and was blown away by
I recently dined at Frevo in New York and was blown away by the delicious food and excellent service. To start, the Shima-Aji - Shiso, Smoked Trout Roe dish was a great way to kick off the meal. The combination of flavors was unique and really stood out.Next up was the Corn - Foie Gras, Eel dish. It was truly a decadent experience with the foie gras and eel perfectly complemented each other. The butternut squash - Sage, Parmesan, Waffle was a delightful surprise and added a touch of sweetness to the meal. The Laminated Olive Bread - Smoked Tofu was a hit as well. The bread was fluffy and the tofu was perfectly smoked, making for a great combination. The White Truffle - Agnolotti was a delicious pasta dish with a rich truffle flavor that I loved. For the main course, I tried the Madai - Koshihikari Rice, Saffron, Mussels dish. The rice was cooked to perfection and the saffron added a nice touch of flavor. The mussels were also cooked to perfection and added an extra layer of flavor to the dish.Lastly, I tried the Zabuton Wagyu - Maitake, Chives dish. This was a standout dish with the wagyu cooked to perfection and the maitake adding a nice texture to the dish. To finish the meal, the Apple - Buckwheat, Vanilla, Wasabi was a unique and delicious way to end the meal.I must mention the wine pairing was great and the cute touch at the end of the meal where we received a copy of the menu as a souvenir. Overall, Frevo exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a delicious and unique dining experience.

VIBES: Everyone waits together in the gallery space, then each party is seated by order of arrival. It's a nice way to make sure things aren't hectic, and that people are paced for dinner. Once you get inside, there is a long bar where you sit while the chefs prep and cook. It's darkly lit and not the best lighting if you want pictures, but romantic and quiet and intimate. So intimate, in fact, that my partner proposed during dinner and no one seemed to notice! It's a good middle between too quiet and too loud. SERVICE: Service was great, with attentive soms and chefs and servers. Occasionally a chef would explain a dish to us, while usually a server did. Also, my boyfriend secretly reached out to the restaurant to plan the proposal dessert, which was thoughtful of them. Sadly, they didn't let our friend come inside to take pictures, so he ended up waiting for an hour outside... and we ended up with no photos of the proposal. But it ended up being lowkey and quiet, which I prefer. DRINKS: We did the wine pairing. The sommelier explained each wine to us and tried to keep us on pace even as I fell behind. Mostly white wines. One was a Santorini wine that we had just drank during lunch at Milos, which was a cute coincidence. FOOD: Frevo is probably one of the best restaurants I've been to in the past year, including the fine dining restaurants I visited in Korea (aka not on my Yelp profile.) I've noticed that a lot of Asian-inspired fine dining can be too thick on the creativity and not pure enough, if that makes sense. All of the dishes at Frevo were amazing in that you could really taste each individual ingredient without any one being too overpowering. I'd say the only one I was meh on was the wagyu. Everything else was very fresh and truly delightful.
Be the first to ReplyCool, smooth, polished and delicious! 5 stars - something
Cool, smooth, polished and delicious! 5 stars - something new and fresh, even for veterans of tasting menus and Michelin Star dining. We entered through the brightly lit art gallery where the hostess, who could pass for Zendaya's sister, welcomed us warmly. After a few minutes a hidden door swung open and we were shuttled into the restaurant which has a cozy, trendy vibe. There are only 16 counter seats and two tables and we really appreciated being able to see the chefs prepare each course. Service from start to finish was warm, professional and efficient. The chefs not only cook your dishes but present them to you and explain each course. The food was excellent, novel and surprising! My favorite dishes came in the first half of the tasting. A highlight was the amberjack with jalapeno gazpacho and fried curry leaves. Delicate fish, crunchy fragrant curry leaves and a subtle, rich creamy jalapeno gazpacho - so different from anything I've ever had. The second course was a two parter with wood ear mushroom, satay and salty iberico ham paired with a lobster, coconut, makrut lime foam. Light but rich, perfectly cooked lobster with a hint of sourness from the lime make the dish pop. The 3rd course was naan with tofu and shabazi. It doesn't sound very exciting but the homemade naan was delicious and the tofu and shabazi spread was so creamy and delicate, like the best cream cheese you've ever had! The protein courses (scallop, madai and zabuton wagyu) were all cooked perfectly and paired with rich accompaniments (sunchoke, koshihikari risotto, maitake). The madai was grilled on a Japanese barbeque and had a nice smoky flavor. It's so fun to watch everyone in the restaurant work with such precision and efficiency.Dessert was incredible -- chocolate, porcini mushroom and wasabi ice cream. It sounds weird, especially the wasabi ice cream, but it all works and is memorable. The meal was closed with some petit four and a copy of our menu enclosed in a mini print of one of the art pieces from the gallery. Very cool!Their menu is constantly changing but we were advised a completely new menu is rolled out each quarter. We definitely will be back!
Be the first to ReplyA dinner with my husband at Frevo was just special.
You enter through an art gallery and taken inside to a chef's table watching wonderful chefs make a spectacular French inspired tasting menu. The staff was on point and the Chef actually spoke to us and introduced himself. A Michelin star was well worth it. You must go!!

One of the best restaurants in NYC! We are very familiar with the restaurant scene in NYC and Frevo is hitting it out of the park. Truly a special restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThe gallery entrance was a nice gimmick.
Food was good - the main protein better than the starters. Both of the fish dishes were delicious along with the wagyu beef but I didnt bother finishing up the soup and preferred the birthday dessert over the regular dessert.Pacing was a bit rushed in the beginning (I understand that they want to get the second seating in) but they never rushed us to leave Enjoyed the meal but not wowed
Be the first to ReplyI was excited to try Frevo, located behind a artsy gallery.
Overall it was good but did not wow me. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice though. Service was good. Food was good too. But I expected more.
Be the first to ReplyFive stars, and five $$$$$.
The food was flawless and original, service warmer than one might expect... it had a human touch to it. The wine pairing was really well thought out. What a smart way to run a restaurant. 28 guests a night. No waste. I agree with some detractors about the upselling. It's a little heavy handed at times, but I commend anyone who can run this tight a ship in the current environment. Will come back after I rob a bank.
Be the first to ReplyOne of those places where the flavors don't hold a candle
One of those places where the flavors don't hold a candle to the presentation. Once you take your picture of the dish, the magic is over. Wagyu was caked in some weird sandy breading that absolutely ruined it. Literally cooked myself a better steak at home the next night. Not to mention the chef and sommelier wouldn't stop eyeballing my date the whole meal. Pretty unprofessional for a place that charges $150+ a head. I felt like a chump even having to tip these jokers like they did me any sort of favor. I'll give a second star for the ambience cause it was a well decorated place. But trust me, if you want caviar and truffles there's better places that don't lure you in with a gimmicky fake gallery. These guys aren't even from New York.
Be the first to ReplyFrevo is a special place.
We have been here twice, and both visits were 10/10 amazing. Chef Franco is a creative and you sense it, taste it, savor it from the first bite to the last. My favorite bites are always the openers, in our two visits I remember standout ingredients from the sea - uni, lobster, kelp, caviar, fluke, foie gras... well foie gras is not from the sea but always deserves a shout out none the less. The presentation of each dish is delivered with delicacy as if each course is an invaluable gift. We are just as enamored with the glassware and the plating as we are with the food. And everyone there is so nice and down to earth. It is an elevated space but there is no air of pretension. It feels like such a warm and comfortable, space. Oh and the wine, we have enjoyed some delightful French wines while visiting and the sommelier is so sensible and knowledgeable- happy to assist in helping you choose a bottle or two for the night. When someone asks what my favorite meal is in NYC, the answer now is always Frevo.
Be the first to ReplyWORTH THE HYPE.
I love the art gallery and wish I spent more time there before/after the meal. I love the "secret door" that opens to the restaurant. I love all the decor, dish ware, bathroom soap, service, and all the different flavors that complemented each other. It reminded me of Alinea; you'll just have to see for yourself. One of my favorite restaurants ever.
