Perfect place to spend a special evening.
Every time I have come here, the service is extremely professional and welcoming. You should definitely come hungry. There are options for 3-course, 4-course, and a chef's tasting, and all of these come with more than what you expect. There are small courses before, in between and afterwards that are nice surprises and make you very full. Don't be shy if you need to take your food home. We definitely had to ask to package some to go as we could not finish all our food.I opted for four courses - foie gras, sturgeon and sauerkraut, duck breast and the golden kiwi. The foei gras and pate was very light. It came with homemade rye bread that made me feel warm and happy. The sturgeon and sauerkraut tart was a combination I have never had before, so I liked trying this new flavor profile. The duck breast was cooked very well, but I think I will try the fish next time. The golden kiwi was also a unique dessert. The kiwi is hollowed out and made into a sorbet with coconut tapicoa balls. My husband got the yellowtail crudo, strip steak and the chocolate truffle. He especially like the milk ice cream in the dessert. Next time he also said he would like to try the fish. Definitely will return again for a special occasion. Lastly, Gabriel Kreuther, himself came to greet all the guests at the end of the night! He was so professional and kind. We also got a private tour of the kitchen as well. Amazing restaurant that goes above and beyond.

A mixed tale of fantastic food and disappointing service
Dinner at 2* Gabriel Kreuther was a story of fantastic food and subpar service. The food was outstanding. My friends only went for the 3 course pre-fixe, so I settled for the 4 course pre-fixe. They donโt offer a wine pairing unless you order the full 11 course tasting menu, so I asked the sommelier to curate a few glasses to pair with my menu choices โ but he never did. He never even returned to the table. Our server filled in to recommend a few glasses, but I was soured to do more after that. Then the server pretty much disappeared on us after the first two courses. This didnโt even qualify as 1* service. It was an otherwise delicious meal; the food was 2-3* worthy. I really enjoyed the lobster and bison tartare and carbonara with black truffle add ons, too. But I probably wouldnโt return for quite a while โ if ever โ due to the major service flubs.
Great service! I thought that the food was too fussed.... and very expensive. Some people love 'food as art'.. and if you do, you will love Gabriel Kreuther! I thought it was overpriced and too fussy.

Celebrated my anniversary here and did the chef tasting.
The presentation was fun and you get a TON of food, but there are way better tasting menus to be had in this town. The service was also a little disjointed.Food was overall great, though not the kind of mindblowing I like to experience at a tasting menu. The duck was my favorite dish, but nothing else was super memorable. Also, why was the butter hard?!I will say the vibe/ambiance in the dining room was great. I would consider returning to try the smaller prefixe menu, but wouldn't do the chef one again.

Excellent - Expensive
The place is in a great location, across the street from the park and just a short walk from Grand Central. The interior looks more formal/uptight than it actually is...once you are in the warm dining room. The space is open but still not overly loud. The menu is diverse, creative and includes detailed explanations. The service is prompt and refined but not exactly warm. The four courses we ordered arrived at perfect intervals. The Tarte Flambee, designed to be shared did not have the finesse of the courses and were probably unnecessarily large for our group. The amuse bouche offerings were wonderfully subtle, delicate and still very flavorful. The wine selection is excellent, although pricey. The cocktails are elegant, original and balanced, but weak. Our night of celebration was $1700 for four, including a healthy, but not record-breaking, tip. That is a lot of money but worth it for the experience. At the end of the night, the chef came out and greeted the remaining guests. For some reason, our table was skipped and some of the members of our party felt disappointed/slighted...perhaps he was being respectful of our privacy or just tired and ready to go home?

// SummaryA culinary experience that will absolutely blow
// SummaryA culinary experience that will absolutely blow your mind with taste explosions and supreme service.// Meal ExperienceI had a "treat yourself" type of moment and on a whim chose Gabriel Kreuther. I opted for the tasting menu along with the wine pairing. This may have been one of the meals of the year for me. Every dish was beautifully prepared and tasted as good as it looked.// ServiceAbsolutely exquisite. Each dish and wine pairing were described to perfection with poise and passion. Every bit of mess from crumbs or otherwise were promptly cleaned up, and my glass was always filled - whether that was the wine or the water. And my napkin was always well-folded when I had to excuse myself to the restrooms.// AmbianceIt does feel very upscale with that nice romantic mood lighting ready for a special celebration. But even in my quarter-zip and decent jeans, I didn't necessarily feel out of place - considering there might have been other people who maybe didn't feel the need to dress up as I did.// ConveniencePretty easy to get to as it's right across from Bryant Park. It did feel like a bit of a trek to walk to the restrooms, but who knows, maybe you need that exercise after the copious amounts of food you get with the tasting menu.

Perfect the second time around
Iโd been here some years ago close to when they first opened and though the food was excellent thereโd been a slight incident with truffles. Nevertheless, our concierge at the Mark encouraged me to try it again and so glad I did. First of all, it is a gorgeous space. Open and bright and elegant. We went after a show so it was not until 10 but we were warmly welcomed and invited to have a cocktail at the bar before sitting. Drinks were excellent and we were not rushed. The entire meal was excellent and shout out to the sommelier who guided us through excellent pairings. Funny story though - there was this obnoxious couple (him really worse than her) sitting next to us speaking so loudly and rudely about the restaurant and service (both of which we were finding to be excellent). Finally the conversation turned to their bedroom habits. At that point I told our server I couldnโt take it anymore. Without missing a beat and appearing to know exactly what I was talking about she asked if weโd like to move. They set up a table at the opposite side next to a lovely couple. Now that is service - the Somme even gave us an extra pour of champagne.

Wonderful experience, tried the chefs tasting menu with a group of four. The staff was very attentive to our pace with each course, we really appreciated the attention to detail. Its always nice too when the Chefs smile at you while working these wonderfully inspired, creative dishes. Thank you for making our dinner memorable!

Great Dinner Even in the Lounge

Dined here just before Christmas. We had a tight schedule because we were seeing a show, so we made reservations in the lounge since we didn't have enough time for the full tasting menu. The food, wine, and service were all fantastic. Both of the tarte flambes were divine, and the Alsatian sausage was the best sausage of any kind I have ever tasted. The violet mustard perfectly accentuated it as well. The sommelier recommended an Alsatian cremant that was perfect. Although we enjoyed our show, we ended up talking more about our regrets at not being able to sample the full menu here. We are looking forward to another trip to enjoy the full experience!

We came here for our 20th year annivesary.
The place excelled on every aspect. I am hard-pressed to find a single way to improve upon the amazing room, attentive knowledgeable servers, well prepared and executed food. I am not a huge desert person so I was able to do 3 savory dishes instead. We both started off with their mixed cocktails. I had their special Manhattan and the wife had their herbaceous martini as we scoffed down the shareable mushroom flat bread. So lite, so good flatbread. The amuse bouche was a playful presentation of savory dishes disguised as desert pieces. The open course was the aged yellowtail and king fish crudo. I ate the pate of foie gras. We washed it down with a 1/2 bottle of rose Ruinart. Not a bad start indeed. The next was the soup of smoked eel, fennel and crab. Our main was the sea bass and the aged smoked duck breast. Both were exceptional mains. My wife has a slight aversion to any foam dishes so we switched the main. Honestly both were well executed and delicious. I did think the duck was out of this world and would gladly dive back into that again. We had these dishes with a bottle of Nuits Saint George Philippe Pacalet. It drank lovely for a young wine. The nose was phenomenal. The sommelier (Lara) it was her recommendation. Their menu consists of 10,000 bottles and 2000 producers. I know my wines but it would take a day just to navigate it. You may spend a pretty penny here on food and booze but I can not think os a better way to spend it.

This place was great.
5/5 stars for the food - Gabriel is a culinary and creative genius. Our experience started out a bit rocky - we were about 20 minutes early to our reservation. We grabbed a drink at the bar to kill time. The bartender was great - answered all our questions, and our drinks were amazing. We ordered the pear cider and the mocktail that started with an "e." We were seated almost 15 minutes after the start time of our reservation. Two parties who arrived after us were seated before us. We were given a round corner table, which was nice. When we went to order the chef's tasting menu, our server did not know what a "lacto ovo vegetarian" was - they assumed it was the same as being a vegan, so I explained what it meant. Normally I wouldnt mind this, but I'd assume at a place with two stars, they'd know. So I docked a star for this and the late seating. We did end up getting the chef's tasting menu - one for a tree nut allergy, and another for a lacto-ovo vegetarian- and it was absolutely incredible. Each course was more creative and delicious than the next - I can't remember everything we had, but I do remember liking the first bread course so much that we ordered another. This was a mistake because we then were too full to enjoy the final two courses of the meal. Wait until the end of the entire meal to repeat a course! The food included a traditional Alsatian bread with a fromage blanc/chive sauce, daikon ravioli, a mushroom pasta, artichokes in vegetable broth, a porcini gingerbread man, and lots of other creative dishes. Most of the food was "shut up and let me experience this because it's blowing my mind" good, and those that were not were still really really good. At the end they brought out a cake for my birthday in addition to the dessert courses. I also ordered the royal Tokaji which came out in a crystal spoon on a silver platter. The ambience was upscale romantic - the kind of place you'd propose at. The staff was patient and answered all of my questions. The food was incredible. I'll definitely be back here.

We came here for our first date and returned for our third
We came here for our first date and returned for our third anniversary! Chef Gabriel was kind enough to come take a photo with us and sign his cookbook! I have loved each and every experience at GK and the food here is always wonderful. Also I highly recommend getting Gabriel Kreuther's cookbook which is a beautiful presentation piece and tells you the back story about his life.
We just returned from a trip to NYC and canโt stop talking about our dinner here. It was perfection from the service, to the sommelier, to the outstanding food. I canโt stop thinking about the sauerkraut and sturgeon tart, and my husband dreams about the hay-smoked duck. We did the 4 course prix fixe and it was all delicious. A shout out to our server Adam and to the very friendly and knowledgeable sommelier (I forget his name). We loved it!

The experience at Gabriel Kreuther, particularly the chef's
The experience at Gabriel Kreuther, particularly the chef's table was an amazing experience and well worth it!We came in a group of 4 and sat in the kitchen with a great view of all of the chefs working their magic, which is always so fun and really makes you appreciate each course. The hospitality was first class as they took care of any dietary restrictions or preferences in our group seamlessly and fluidly. We started with 3 amuse bouches and some delicious cocktails. It was then followed by courses of: foie gras, sturgeon and sauerkraut, trout, squid ink ragu, duck, white chocolate shiso leaf pallet cleanser and 2 desserts of pomegranate and pear bite with cotton candy and an apple tart tatin. I also appreciated that we got 3 types of breads throughout our meal, though it meant by the end I was very full! My absolute favorite dish was the trout - the shrimp sauce poured on top and the mashed potatoes underneath were all so delicious and silky smooth. It was my favorite fish course I've ever tasted. The water buffalo ragu was also so good. The desserts were also very tasty, though my favorite was not on the tasting menu - the chocolate flan. Wow that was amazing. Lastly we ended with 4 bites each which were quite big, I was surprised. All in all, an amazing night and even more amazing meal. We had the best time and really delicious dishes while having an intimate experience in the kitchen.

Gabriel Kreuther is one of the best restaurants I have had
Gabriel Kreuther is one of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure to dine at in New York City. It is located right across the street from Bryant Park so it is somewhat easy to find. The chefs table was a fantastic dining experience where the chefs come to the table and you can watch the sophistication of the kitchen. The kitchen has a presence to it yet a peculiar silence that was very interesting to witness. Nonetheless, the kitchen table was an experience well worth the money! The staff was very friendly and attentive. So attentive that my water was never not full. The restaurant catered greatly to dietary needs and the restaurant made sure that the dietary needs of some of the party did not impact the experience. Likewise, we were able to add additional dishes to the menu at an additional charge without a problem. My favorite two dishes were the trout and the orecchiette! Also their fish and duck portions are very generous without losing the precious flavor profiles. The Apple Tart Tarin was a great dessert and was a very generous portion. Likewise, the bread they provide are tasty! The tasting menu left me very full, happy, and was an experience well worth the money. Although the staff could have done a better job explaining how to eat the dishes but other than that it was the best experience I've had at a restaurant so far! 8/5!!!!

A wonderful evening where we were fortunate to dine at chefs table. Our son, training to be a chef at a fine Scottish restaurant chose this venue. We were absolutely thrilled with the quality of service, dining experience, wine and kindness shown by your staff. We enjoyed a wonderfully presented and prepared tasting menu which was elegant gastronomy. Truly a masterpiece that tantalised our taste buds and left us hugely impressed. There is nothing ordinary, dull or disappointing about dining here. Having dined in other 1+2 star Michelin restaurants in the UK, the only one that comes close is The Savoy, but your experience was even better. You fired our sons enthusiasm to greater heights and the time given to him and tour was second to none. He works crazy long hours five days a week away from home but itโs his calling. I hope one day he can come and learn more with you.

Excellent tasting menu and wine list beautifully presented
We truly enjoyed our evening. The dining room is elegant and quiet enough for conversation. The sommelier was very good and although staff were efficient, we found them not to be as well trained as at other Michelin starred restaurants (knowledge of French food terms should be a requirement!). The amuses bouches were creative and tasty; the foie gras and duck especially delicious. The chocolate dessert was superior to the grape meringue dish (tasted like Welch jelly to me). The wines we were recommended complimented the dishes.

Spectacular, but could have gone so differently
I love Michelin star experiences and had very high expectations. This was a $600 dinner for two including drinks and service fee. We started off with a very very rude waitress, I cannot refer to her as wait staff as she was no better than what you would expect at a fast food location. We had a lot of questions and she walked away from me in the middle of my inquiries and said "your not ready, I have another table. I was shocked and called for the manager - who saved the night. Our waitstaff was upgraded and we had a marvelous experience. The food was spectacular. We opted for some shares, and the 4 course pre-fixe. Every treat, bite and course was better & better as the night progressed. The bread, the desserts, the end of meal treats were divine. Service was smooth and exactly what one expects from a restaurant such as this. Our waiter was kind, friendly and funny - he was very sensitive to my friends concern with alcohol products etc as she fully abstains. This restaurant recovered brilliantly and provided an excellent evening - I commend them all for that. Thank you
We did the 4-course menu and every single dish was impeccable. The service was on point. I would gladly go back and I would love to try to chefโs table!
