This is such a gem in little italy.
Its not tacky or stereotypical it has a wonderful atmosphere and a unique feel. We had a table outside but it was a little too cold, so the hostess gladly made accommodations for us to move inside which worked out perfectly. The menu is a perfect balance of classic and new. And the food never disappoints! The sizes are perfect for sharing as well. Come for a pizza, a pasta and a bottle of wine and you wont break the bank! If you're in little italy this is a must!

An updated take on a classic NYC trattoria in the heart of Little Italy, Gelso and Grand is a nice spot for a pre-dinner drink downtown. We stopped in on a cold Friday night and enjoyed a couple glasses of white and a Black Tea-Quila, an earthy black tea and tequila mix, around their generous bar. Romantic lighting and the low hum of the convivial crowd made for a great vibe.

Great place to meet with friends or a Casual date. Good Italian wine selection and fun cocktails with an Italian spin. We shred the spaghetti pomodoro and the chicken Parmesan. The sauce on the pasta and chicken was just the right amount of tanginess But the portion of pasta was quite small. The chicken Parmesan was pounded thin, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. I highly recommend both options. The wine and food prices were reasonable too. Our server was prompt and came back to check on us to be sure everything was to our liking. If you are hungry I recommend sharing an appetizer and then order dinners.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch on our last day in NYC, and I'm so glad we did. The restaurant wasn't very busy at the time, understandably so as it was around 2pm on a Wednesday. We chose to sit at the bar, and the bartender was friendly. We shared the meatballs and arancini appetizers, both were excellent. The meatballs were tender and served with plenty of marinara and Italian bread. The arancini were crispy on the outside and filled with soft spring pea risotto on the inside, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and lemon aoli on the side-amazing. For entrees, my friend selected the truffle pacchieri and I ordered the campanelle alla vodka, and we both couldn't decide which was our favorite because they were both so delicious. The pachieri had a truffle cream sauce, burrata, and bits of Italian sausage. The campanelle was tossed with vodka sauce and chili flakes, giving it a nice kick. The portions were very good sized, and we ended up boxing about half of our pasta dishes. I kept mine in the hotel fridge overnight and ate the leftovers on my flight home the next day! The restaurant was spacious and clean. The restrooms were located downstairs. Also downstairs was a pretty cool private looking room with tables, chairs, and a bar. It looked like a hangout for celebrities. This place is a must visit if you're in NYC!

Hands down the worst prosciutto I've ever had. Would have preferred prosciutto from cold cut section at Gristedes. Their prosciutto was dark and tough. Clearly not di parma or whatever is below that. The other food was meh. Spaghetti pomodoro had a weird taste. Pesto pasta was dry. Chicken parm was good. Vongole was weird. It like they use fresh clams but dump a bunch of canned clams on right before they serve it. Also tastes bland and lacks briny flavor.

Good spot for a casual lunch, has a big space and good sized sharables. We got the octopus and meatballs as appetizers and they were pretty good. The best was the shrimp diavolo pizza, the olives and shrimp were a great pair with just a small kick.

You can't see easily inside but it's quite spacious. Fresh pasta and wood fire oven pizza. It's a little dark inside and the music is relatively loud EDM. Not exactly the ambiance I was expecting but could be nice for a night out. The service was solid and food came quickly. I had the lamb campanelle and it was delicious. The portion was filling but not oversized. I tried a couple of house cocktails and they were well balanced. Overall would recommend them for a night out.

10/10 on everything. Fantastic, no "slow tactic" bullshit on the drinks came out lightning fast. Would book again.

It was great, but we did need to wait for the waitress a few times. We asked for figs in the side and never got it.
