Since moving to the area i've made a list of top rated restaurants in the area and if I'm being honest, this was one of the ones I was most excited about. I've had a few friends visit Gentle Perch so it was only a matter of time before I recommended it to my friend when she asked me where we could grab lunch in the East Williamsburg area. We made a reservation prior but when we went in for lunch it was practically empty besides a party who reserved a portion of the restaurant. When it came time to order we both went with the fried chicken sandwich ($16) and washed it down with a tiny juicy IPA ($7). The sandwich was pretty tasty and the vibes of this spot were great! Service here was also top notch! Even with a large party they were able to be attentive to our needs and got our food out to us pretty fast. I'd recommend coming here with friends during the day for a good time.

The place was really nice and the staff was extremely pleasant. I got the chicken sandwich with the fries and it was extremely tasty. I will definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food.
Great service. Great vibes! I loved this place. Our server was SUPER friendly and the food was quality. A Korean fusion restaurant that was tastefully executed
Be the first to ReplyTakeout was alright.
Got the porkbelly platter which was a bit too salty for my liking and a bit dry. Maybe the dine in experience and chicken would be better?

Service: 10/10Food:Chicken sandwich: 10/10 mouthwatering Galbi burger: 9/10 very good im a tough judgeJjajang bowl: if you love gravy w rice this one hits the spot and an overall great rice bowl 9/10Kbbq spare ribs: I'm not gonna give these a rating. They were disappointing due to me not getting along with the "gravy on bbq" concept, and that's a personal preference I just discovered- BUT in my attempt to be unbiased, I will say that the meat was pretty good, cooked proper with a nice tasty char, and it's very possible a lot of people would love this dish but just didn't flow for me :( the sides with the ribs were excellent I mean probably the best little macaroni salad I've ever eaten. Coleslaw and fries too. So good. Nevertheless, the meal was excellent and I would come back for that amazing chicken sandwich and to try something else or repeat everything I loved.
Be the first to ReplyJust ordered take out and it was absolutely superb.
I believe it was a Galbi burger with fries and a pina colada.

The ambiance was so fun, the food was delicious, and the staff was so kind. They don't have a huge menu which I liked because it didn't stress me out. I ended up trying a local sparkling water called Halmi, a woman owned/run business in Brooklyn, and got the kimchi bowl for dinner. Both were absolutely delicious and the flavor of the drink and food went great together. I'd definitely recommend going to Gentle Perch!

I'm Korean and this black bean noodle is an absolute disgrace, I can't believe I paid over $19 for this. They put too much sugar - it's way too sweet Just disgusting smh

Was here for the event that gentle perch had with maku and noona's icecream for Korean Thanksgiving and loved the vibe of the restaurant. There was a lot of food and I left stuffed! Would be open to try this restaurant on a regular day.
Be the first to ReplyNot very good.
. To start it was really empty to the point you feel kinda awkward talking. The waitress, while sweet, did not know the menu. We had asked if the rib plate came with buns, which we saw online, and she said she wasn't sure - which is kinda upsetting, given there's less than 10 things on the menu. We got the ribs (did not come with buns I guess they changed the menu and she told us after) and the chicken poppers. The rib plate was kind of all around bad. The macaroni was the only thing that was sort of good. The ribs were not hot, warm at best, dry and just not very good. Everything on the plate was kimchi flavored which just got old after a couple bites. But really emphasis on DRY. Chicken poppers decent, not bad BAD but burnt and drenched in sauce. Nothing was good enough to make me want to come back, 10/10 would NOT recommend.

I reallyyyyyy wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I was a little bit let down. I figured I had to try the korean southern bbq platter and I love pork belly so i went with that. The plating was definitely a southern style plating on a metal tray butttttt man the pork belly was on the thinner side and kinda tough, not soft and tender as I was hoping. The side of mac and cheese was good tho lol
Be the first to ReplyA unique take on Southern + Korean fusion food.
Loved the Korean Southern BBQ Box and the interior.

Went here on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant was quite empty -- one other table was filled, which I suspect is a product of how new the restaurant is.Service was great, waitress was definitely attentive. The food came out in literal minutes! The bad part...the food was all around subpar. We got the chicken poppers as an appetizer -- while it was a good portion, the nuggets were drenched in excessive sauce, there was mostly flour/cornstarch mass and very little chicken itself, and the flavor tasted like a simple sugar coat. The brisket platter -- while a great portion, also was disappointing. There was an excess of a slurried seasoning on the pork belly, the pork belly itself was tough and not tender like expected, and the consistency of the bao bun was also a dry starchy feel -- the kind that gets stuck in your teeth. The kimchi baked beans that came as a side was a weird combination of flavors. The pickles and korean bbq sauce were good. The bibim bowl was overall mediocre. While the veggies were plentiful and seemed fresh, the bulgolgi BBQ brisket was devoid of any bulgogi seasoning, and the brisket itself was tough and dry.I really wanted to like this place, as it's interior design was among the best I've seen, and the concept of it all is quite cool. Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever return.
Be the first to ReplyThe gochujang bbq chicken is SO good.
I will definitely be ordering that again. Corn ribs were ok but will def be checking out their other app options.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I came here for dinner on Lunar New Year's Eve.
They had a lot of specials going on including a regular happy hour, restaurant week, and a lunar new year set. We started with a Soju which is a potato and rice based drink. It was quite sweet and had a light syrupy texture. Quite similar to Sake. An interesting try and something I'd recommend to folks who like sweeter drinks. We also shared the fried chicken poppers which were delicious. Super crispy too.For our main course, I had the lunar new year special called tteokguk which was a brisket and rice cake soup. It was very rich and savory. My wife had the fried chicken sandwich which was pretty similar to the poppers we had for appetizer.I enjoyed their beer and shot special. I had a couple cans of the Makku original which is a fermented rice drink. It's essentially alcoholic horchata. It's delicious. Not sure why this isn't a more commonly found beverage. For dessert, my wife had the toasted rice ice cream. I had a spoonful. It has a very interesting flavor. I'd recommend giving it a shot. The service was quick and attentive. They have one spacious gender neutral restroom.

Gentle Perch used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. However I have been extremely disappointed with my last visit. Ordered the eggplant plant fries and bulgolgi BBQ brisket bibimbap. The order of eggplant fries were were a bit small (1/3 of container filled) but tasted okay. What really got me was the bibimbap. Even after adding the bibimbap sauce, it lacked flavor and I had to pack on a lot of salt. Some pieces of the briskets were so tender and juicy and some were so hard to chew and over seasoned with pepper. I don't understand why it wasn't consistent. I really hope this was only a one time mishap...

Delicious lunch or dinner spot! I love the Korean fried chicken and the Pork belly box. Both flavors of the chicken are amazing. Their teas are also really good. This place is a few steps away from my apartment so I've been here a number of times. This staff is super friendly and the decor and ambience is really inviting.

Came back for a second time after 5 months and was extremely disappointed. The poppers were amazing the first time but were mediocre this time around, the flavor of the soy garlic, which was robust the first time, was almost non-existent this time. The spicy poppers were the star of the show the first time, but this time they tasted like KFC's honey BBQ wings. The meat itself was also dry and somewhat hard. I have a feeling they might have changed management or something.

Take out review:Good Korean option in Greenpoint, so glad this place fills the void of solid Korean spots in the area. Wanted to eat indoors but decided to order to-go when I realized that only 1 employee seemed to be working both indoor and outdoor tables PLUS the take out counter, then I figured after walking 20 minutes here there was no turning back. Korean fried chicken sandwich was good but very heavy even with coleslaw to lighten it up. Very tasty but probably should have saved half for later. Brioche bun was fresh but very large and dense, plus the sweet glaze/honey-like sauce took it over the top for me. Black sesame shake was not worth $9, definitely save your money for a makgeolli or cocktail instead. Seems the cocktails here are decent, worth dining indoors for hopefully at a busier time when more staff are present.

Wait I'm so The brisket was good, a little fatty but good well flavored but the Mac and cheese side was the worst I've ever very had, like I'm confused at what kind of cheese had no flavore to use, it was like eating milk and pasta. Everything else was good tho, The nap buns were soft and warm the brisket too. Just that Milk and cheese...

You should really like barbeque if you plan to visit Gentle Perch and would benefit most from ordering one of their BBQ platters, which seem to receive the most praise here. There's a long menu of other items they bill "Korean Southern BBQ" corn ribs, eggplant fries, sandwiches that utilize Korean flavors, and a long list of more classic Southern sides like baked beans, mac n cheese, and coleslaw. If you're like me and you glide over all the meat items, there's actually a fair amount of vegetarian things you can order, like the tofu salad, bibim bowl, and eggplant BBQ sandwich. My tofu bibim bowl was a bit sad, coming in a small paper bowl filled with glass noodles, purple cabbage, and tofu. It didn't come with the fried egg that is signature to bibimbap and that was listed on the menu, which would've added a little more heft to this meager bowl. The kimchi baked beans were a nice little fusion side that I enjoyed overall, but didn't leave me with any sort of impression and not the greatest excitement to return again. To me this felt a bit like a cafeteria meal, which is in keeping with a category of food in Korea called "school food" but lacking in a lot of the elements and ingredients that make school food satisfying.
