I popped in here for lunch when I finally realized it was here, after living in NYC for 20+ years.I'm more interested in reviewing, visiting and patronizing businesses in lower Manhattan because it's an easier and faster commute back home to Brooklyn. That's how this popped up on my radar.I'm glad it did.No one likes paying premium prices for pasta, but when it's this good I don't mind.Gnocchi and the sauce was perfect, with 3 small but very tasty meatballs.I grabbed a small table by myself and the place was pretty backed for an early lunch crowd. The small bread plate, which included some small garlic knot type bread was also awesome.I had attentive service, and the food runner makes it more efficient for delivery of my food and even scored me one or 2 more of those garlic knots.Lovely atmosphere to take someone from out of town or even a special occassion.Looks like during certain Summer nights they have entertainment in the park nearby, so you could make a night out of it.
Be the first to ReplyNice view, absolutely horrific manager.
Three out of four members of the party received the wrong order, I was fine and went with it as I am not a picky eater but one of the members could not eat pork and specifically asked for a dish without it. Once she realized there was bacon in the sauce and the server notified the manager he instead of apologizing gave us a nasty attitude and told us we would still have to pay for her dish(didn't even mention the other wrong orders) or he would call the cops. Hopefully this helps management to adjust their management and for anyone who reads this to stay away or make sure you review your order very carefully.

A bit unorthodox of a place, as its in a public park, once your seated outside and see the view and the fare coming out, you know youre in for a good time. The menu was mostly in italian whjch was a little confusing at first, but the item descriptions were in english and spot on for accuracy. I enjoyed my Frutti Di Mare very much and the Mussels in tomato sauce were pretty good, but we had more then a few empty shells.... The bread basket was a nice variety too, and very fresh. Be warned if you order a drink on the rocks, youre not getting a giant iceburg, or even ice cubes, its gonna be swimming in chipped ice, so if you order a fancy scotch its gonna get watered down fairly fast in the summer heat. Given the overall quality of the food, the fresh breeze, the view of the water and the statue of liberty id give the place 7/10. Just watch out for the mosquitoes after sundown. They drove us out of there real quick. But thats not really the restaurants fault.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful views, amazing food, and good service.
Make reservations ahead of time. Casual wear.
Be the first to ReplyGreat view of the Hudson & Statue of Liberty.
Decent food, though it's certainly overpriced. Service left much to be desired. Coming here once was enough.

If you reserve a table in the heat of summer, be sure it's going to be protected from the sun or bring a good supply of spf 1000 sunblock! We lost more water than we could drink, the tiny sun umbrella we asked them to open did not offer enough shade for our table and it was very uncomfortable. Food was well prepared, I had the Cozze A la modo mia, mussels with bread crumbs and peas in a garlic and oil sauce. The dish was well done, only one mussel was unopened, and the balance of garlic and oil was perfect. The bread crumbs looked and tasted like store bought in a box, not impressed, but the peas were nice and sweet, very good! Service wise, the staff was attentive, not entirely knowledgeable of the menu, we had to point out what we wanted, and the servers were not trained not to reach across the table to hand plates of guests, it's really not advanced hospitality to teach them that. Overall, my guests were happy with their food and cocktails, satisfied with the hospitality, and if we had shade from the sun, the ambiance would have been excellent. Make a note: there's only one restroom and it's a one seater and it's unisex! And it's also open to the folks sitting on benches in the park...hmmmThe good was good, the bad cost them one star.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed having dinner on the patio at Gigino.
The location absolutely cannot be beat, it's right on the water in Battery Park with a breathtaking view of the Statue of Liberty (my picture doesn't do it justice!).We started with frozen boozy drinks, which were so nice after a day of sightseeing in the sun. I got a strawberry daquiri which was delicious. Next, we all ordered a cup of the chicken vegetable soup as an appetizer upon recommendation. I'm a big soup person but it was hot out so I thought I might regret getting soup, however this soup was so incredible that I am still thinking about it days later. It was essentially chicken soup with a ton of noodles, but heavier on veggies than a standard chicken soup. One of the best soups I've ever had in my life and I am really hoping there's a way I can have it shipped to me back home somehow!I ordered Farfalle Isabella for dinner and it was very good but I would've been just as happy with a larger bowl of that soup. Big fan. For 3 people at dinner, our bill came out to ~$200 which was about what we expected given that the restaurant is upscale. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the restaurant failed to alert us when we made our reservation that there was an outdoor production of Romeo and Juliet on a stage/grassy knoll directly behind the restaurant patio that was scheduled for that evening. We kind of rushed through dinner so that we could get out of there before it started but we ended up still being there for a soundcheck which was super loud. I am not sure how frequently they do shows, I'd recommend asking if there is a play scheduled for the evening when you make your reservation.I will definitely return for the soup and the views alone!

Sorry to have to write this but arrived at 5:45 and an hour later our food never arrived to be served. Yes management was apologetic but I had to do something I had never done before. I had to leave without eating because we had theatre tickets st 7 pm. Very disappointed. FYI I did offer to pay for the bread but the manager declined to accept

For our table of five, we ordered calamari, mussels, caprese, penne alla vodka, tagliatelle alla bolognese, and rigaoni pulcinella. Service was friendly and you get a nice view of the Statue of Liberty. Food was solid but nothing special, except for the mussels. We got the one with garlic, olive oil, herbed bread crumbs and peas. Both of my parents mentioned that they never liked mussels (they remembered them as dry and tasteless) but they ended up LOVING this dish! The taste was unique and not overpowering and the breadcrumbs added a nice texture to it. As for the pasta dishes, our favorite was the rigatoni pulcinella (rich, creamy flavor) and our least favorite was the tagliatelle alla bolognese (I thought the tagliatelle could be more al dente).

Gigino's definitely wasn't the easiest place to find - we were walking in the Battery Place area looking for it and nearly passed it. I'm sure glad we didn't. Although it was a beautiful day, it was still quite cool and windy. The patio seating looked inviting but it was not heated so we opted for the indoor seating - there is not a lot of indoor seating so make sure you have reservations, especially in cooler weather. Once seated, we were warmly greeted, offered water and soon after served homemade bread with olive oil, Parmesan and black pepper for dipping. I could probably have just made a meal of the bread and dipping oil it was so good. We ordered the Funghi e Cipolle Saltsti to share as an appetizer. The sautรฉed mushrooms, onions and garlic were delicious, the only downside was that they were served on a lone slice of grilled bread and there were three of us sharing. I saw a few other appetizer plates going past and all were definitely made for sharing. We continued onto our second basket of that wonderful bread as we waited on our entrees. I ordered the Rigatoni con Salsissia - rigatoni pasta with a tomato and house made pork sausage sauce. It was so delicious that I purchased a pint of the sauce to take back to Alabama with me (it may be a challenge but it's so good that I'm up for it!). One of my dining partners ordered Spaghetti Allฤ Cozzi - spaghetti noodles with muscles in a light spicy tomato sauce - she loved it. The other ordered the Gamberoni Aglio E Olio. This dish was similar to shrimp scampi on house made calamarata pasta. While two of us had leftovers, she ate the whole thing all the while expounding on its "deliciousness". We were quite full yet decided to look at the dessert menu anyway. We opted to share the tiramisu and a slice of Pastiera alla Napolenta - a ricotta and farro cheesecake. The tiramisu was as good as expected but the Pastiera totally fell flat. The texture was strange and what we expected to be creamy was rather dry. I'd definitely opt for something else from the rather extensive dessert menu. Gigino's offers a $29 lunch special which includes a selection of pastas (including the above mentioned rigatoni and the spaghetti) and a glass of wine. Since a glass of wine was $13, this was quite a good deal. They offered a prix fixe menu until March 30. Except for the one dessert, our food was delicious and our service exemplary. I won't be back in Manhattan anytime soon but if you do find yourself there, you can't go wrong by dining at Gigino's.

We stopped in here on a freezing day after a trip out to Ellis Island. We were craving some warm, comforting food. This place did not disappoint. The chef, we discovered is from Positano and the food was positively delicious. I had Farfalle Isabella, my friend had a Pollo Limone. Our meals were full of flavor and accompanied by good, crusty bread. We shared a tasty bread pudding for dessert. ย We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Found this gem while walking along the Hudson River toward Battery Park. It was a beautiful day, as you can see by the photo below. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. One of our best meals in NYC this trip!

Who knew? A tiny little Italian gem inside a concrete building with a great view of the Statue of Liberty. The pasta is fresh, the bread is definitely baked on-site, and the flavors are bright and delicious. The waitstaff were flexible, fast and friendly. Definitely worth stopping for a bite if you're in the area.

Wow, here's a restaurant with a waterfront view of the Statue of Liberty and a beautiful sunset that was easy to get into a recent Saturday night. We took advantage of the low price ($35) 3 course meal which was excellent. Come here before the tourists discover this place, just a 15-minute walk from the Sept 9-11 memorial.

Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely stunning views especially at sunset.
The food was amazing and the service was top notch! The chicken parm was amazing! The zucchini with the cheese on it was also amazing. Didn't prefer people bringing dogs in to the outside dining but that's just me. Does not change my opinion on this plan and I could not ask for more. #NeverForget9/11

Whenever I'm in NY this is my favorite go to restaurant for great food, cocktails, service and fantastic views.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect spot for outdoor dining.
Minimal inside. All of our appetizers & pasta entrees were good. Service very friendly.

This was truly one of the worst experiences imaginable. Let me begin by saying we had two monster-sized rats run under our table. We also had a three-inch bug of some sort 1 foot away from our table the entire meal. All the food that was extremely overpriced was inedible as it was immediately swarmed by flies and gnats. Only come here if you're willing to pay $100+ for a view and you don't mind rats, bugs, and overpriced food. We quickly left after only having a few bites of our food because we didn't want to share our overpriced meal with rats. When we got home and called the restaurant to let them know of our experience, they offered us zero support considering the terror we experienced during this dinner that was meant to be a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible place.
I Had lunch here, and ordered the pasta fagioli. I was shocked when I got a spoonful of glass! ย There were Shards at the bottom of my bowl. ย The manager Rafea (spelling ?) was so unprofessional. He took the bowl away and kept insisting it was plastic. Why would I lie? ย He wasRude, and the overall experience was so bad it was shocking. I bit down on the glass and it cut the inside of my mouth. Stay far away from this place!
