Choreographed Culinary Experience that is Relaxed and Special
For my 60th my husband chose Goosefoot and we were not disappointed. The details and explanations are part of the dining experience. Woodstock theme was appropriate for our age, LOL. Edible flowers with sauces to die for.
Special place for a special occasion. Small intimate place that cannot be judged by the exterior and location.
Thanks for a wonderful meal.
Also note the Covid precautions taken very seriously here at this restaurant. Temperature taken when you enter building and silver ware and glasses protected from germs and environment with clear partitions between tables. Not to mention some fancy gadget at your table to take the particles out of the air at your table.
Wonderful experience
When I looked at the others' reviews, I said 'me too' many times! This place was the best! The host treated you like an old friend. The chef (her husband) put something so pretty and tasty in front of us. We took tons of pictures and gobble up the last bit. The server was professional and very friendly. Looks like she loved her job and and happy to have us there. (I was at Boka the evening before, and the servers were cold toward us) The menu change so I am not going to talk about it. The food was, and will be delicious anyway.
Plus, I love that they took the Covid seriously: All tables were divided by clear, clean panels. Host and servers all wore mask and keep the distance. All the beautiful, heavy weighted silverare were wrapped, pre-packed according to each course, and put together in a nice box, to avoid human contact. Each guess had his/her own box. It was a lot of work! They present the box in a neat and beautiful way. Truely one of a kind!

i have always been interested in dining at Goosefoot since it's inception but my dining partner is always intimidated by price fix menus and i can understand the uncertainty of what you will eat and if it will be substantial. Goosefoot proved those misconceptions so wrong. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Nina by name which made me feel very at home and she showed us our table..The theme of Goosefoot for this season is Woodstock and the music the atmosphere and the food has touches of woodstock going through. The thing that made the night special besides the food was the incredible service and just personal attention received by Nina who shared history on the restaurant and the dishes and made the time go by fast. The was never a lull in between courses as Nina was keeping us attentive and in suspense for the next course and of course we could see the other tables receiving theirs. The mean started off with the fois gras and the chestnut soup..so delicious, we then had the scallop in the lobster broth..we both wanted more and more of this...the parsnip soup was hearty and delicious with the lentils at the bottom adding a nice texture, then venison entree and the beef...creative, succulent and juicy and perfect especially when all the bits are added together. then we had the cheese course piped in the egg shell, the yuzu palate cleanser presented with the mini replicas of the bandshell at Millenium Park, amazingly creative with the origami touches, we then moved on to dessert which after the custard and the snow globe chocolate, we were so full which was a shock..we had to take the final desserts and the chocolate bars home. Nina was a delight, the food each course so unique and full of flavor and presented with such precision. If this is what Michelin is all about then i want this as much as i can. It does take 3 hours to complete the meal but as i said, the wit and conversing you have with Nina will not have you missing the food. Will be back hopefully soon.

Four of us were there for a birthday celebration. I love the fact that they change the decor and music to match their themes. The food for each of the courses was beautifully prepared and delicious. It's impressive that they can get their soups to the table served so hot. Nina was a wonderful hostess and our server was very thorough in her description of each course. The restaurant provides a great opportunity to pair your own wines with their delicious food, and you can buy wine next door, if you wish. A thoroughly enjoyable meal.

We have been trying to return to Goosefoot for a number of years since its early years. Finally got a reservation to celebrate my birthday. Absolutely worth the wait! Again, Nina and Chris delighted and surprised us with wonderful, warm service and excellent and creative food. It’s BYOB, which is great and the chef’s menu is varied and excellent. I hope it doesn’t take us another 4 years to return.

Our second time back to goosefoot and it was every bit as fun and special as the first visit.
Nina and Chris are amazing hosts and you feel like you are visiting their house and having dinner in their dining room.
Amazing service, playful menu, great music (curated by Nina to accompany the meal) and wonderful suggestions on the wine pairings (from the store next door - as goosefoot is byob).
A fun dinner experience and worth every penny.
Excellent flavors but something is not totally right..
It was a first BYOB experience for Michelin stars restaurant and I liked it. Although our wines were probably not a perfect choice for the menu, it gave a familiar approach to the experience. All be it, it is not necessarily what one is looking for in these fine dining experience.
The food was delicious, the flavors well balanced and the mix of ingredients not necessarily a surprise. Servings were too generous specially for the pasta dish and the corn soup. In both these dishes, they were also to hot. I almost burned my tong.
Plating is sometimes nice, sometimes leaving a feeling of something more or different should be done.
The atmosphere of the place sets the tone for a refine diner but the music chosen for this period’s theme, Woodstock, sometimes clashes with it all.
I really like our dinner, but contrary to other Michelin stars I have been to, I would not run over for a next time.
Good continuation to the chef and his charming wife and tks for the chef’s own chocolate as a going away present.
One of my favorite meals
What a pleasant surprise this little restaurant packs. The Woodstock theme was outstanding from the food to the music, it was spot on. Nina made us few like we were right at home. Every course was amazing. If you like a tasting menu and are in Chicago this is a place you have to visit. I will be going back for sure. It is BYOB, so grab a good bottle of wine and get ready for a fantastic meal. Parking is around back but street parking is easy as well.
