This place was delicious, and it's unfortunate SF couldn't appreciate quality Mexican food. Street food has a lot of lard and extra oils but home food cooked this way has tons of flavor without a ton of oil. Mexican food is so much more than quesadillas and tacos with grease. The mole here was so good, layered with so many spices and topped with seeds. The enchiladas had sauce that was made fresh. If SF can't appreciate quality food, it doesn't deserve it. Hope to patron another Gracias Madre in a deserving city.
Be the first to ReplyThis is one of my favorite Vegan restaurants in SF.
Great people and great food. I really love their pozole and tamales
Be the first to ReplyI would not come here if i am not vegan and craving vegan
I would not come here if i am not vegan and craving vegan mexican food. The food is mediocre at best, especially for the price point. I wouldn't go here again. Having said that, the ambiance is good and servers are polite. Not super noisy so if u r looking to talk then grab a drink with a friend here probably.

Visiting from London we were brought here by friends to enjoy vegan Mexican. Hadn't tried before and really pleased we had the chance. The nachos with jackfruit were great and my quesadilla with tofu chorizo delicious. Very filling though so no room for dessert.

Hope to some day see another location up here. This was our go to spot. I was planning lunch today with my husband.
Be the first to ReplyMexican food actually accommodates dietary restrictions
Mexican food actually accommodates dietary restrictions very well given it's flavor. After a two hour wait, I was offered black beans that were mashed and tasted like gentrification and baby food. I've had delicious vegan food. The overall taste is like someone had Mexican food and burped into a water bottle and you were given the water as a meal.
Be the first to Replythe food was incredible!! service was very fast and kind.

I'm no vegan or vegetarian but I'll always bring people to this restaurant! Honestly if you'd not told me it's meat-free, I wouldn't have known. It's that good! Omnivore that has carnivorous tendencies says meat-free restaurant is amazing... whaaaaaaat!?
Be the first to ReplyThe food was a bit too leafy for my taste here.
While I knew it was vegan, I was not impressed by their flavors. I did really like the drinks and the beans on the side!
Be the first to ReplyI was really eager to see; it was what I was most
I was really eager to see; it was what I was most anticipating in San Francisco, but perhaps my hopes were too high. That was excellent--not that it wasn't--but it wasn't as spectacular as I had anticipated. Unusually for him, my spouse had no interest in his eating at all.
Be the first to ReplyHad a semi-disappointing dinner here:.
We made reservations ahead and were placed at a really awful table location. On top of that, we were clearly being rushed to eat and leave as fast as possible. Quite literally the staff, including manager, was asking to take plates while they still had food on them and while we were holding out I utensils, in between bites. I put my spoon down at one point while eating and the guy came by "are you finished with that?" -- "dude, no, I'm literally just taking a sip of my drink and then I'll eat more" - this happened MULTIPLE times. It truly felt rude to be so rushed. I get that restaurants make money by turning over tables, but it is not unreasonable to sit and enjoy a meal and some drinks. I love the food here. It's absolutely delicious, I have given them a lot of business over the years... this was my first time coming since the end of the pandemic and it was still delicious, but a different vibe, rush, rush rush! Such a bummer.

Absolutely amazing food, service and experience! Can't wait to come back to SF just to come eat here again. I'm not vegan but have had vegan food many times before. This place is hands down my most favorite vegan restaurant place so far. You NEED to try the cheesecake OMG!
Be the first to ReplyI love this place.
We went last night for my husband's birthday and the food and drinks were great, but the highlight was when our server, Jenny brought over a flan with a candle and sang happy birthday to him. I didn't mention his birthday- I felt a little silly asking them to do anything since we're adults, but Jenny overheard me wish him a happy birthday and brought us dessert. It was so sweet of her. A+ service- she went above and beyond. thanks Jenny!!!
Be the first to ReplyThis was my fourth time at this restaurant over the years!
This was my fourth time at this restaurant over the years! Once for brunch, once for happy hour, and twice for dinner! It's hard to find vegan places for cuisines that are not traditionally vegan. Service has always been prompt from my experience. And there was even live music one Friday evening! I've yet to find better loaded vegan nachos anywhere else! The jackfruit adds a lot of texture and makes up for the spice that is a bit lacking in the dish! Make sure to ask for their hot sauce if you like spicy food!
Be the first to ReplyOh my goodness.
The most delicious Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. And unbelievably vegan! We were on cloud nine! Left feeling so full and happy. Top recommendations: oat milk chagachinos and pozole.
Be the first to ReplyI got the mole enchiladas and really loved it; great flavor
I got the mole enchiladas and really loved it; great flavor for the mole, and very tasty filling. The kale on the side was super fresh too. They had nice patio seating with a heater too which was great for us.
Be the first to ReplyWe're always excited to find vegetarian/vegan restaurants,
We're always excited to find vegetarian/vegan restaurants, but were a little disappointed after finally trying this spot. Fun ambience - ample seating indoors, with a little bar area, and seating in the sunroom in the front as well. Service was a little sparse for being 2PM and not too busy. I was happy that they (eventually) brought us a kids menu/coloring sheet, since then we got to try both the nachos and the quesadilla for half the price! Once in a while it pays to have the kiddos! For better or for worse, the kids' nachos was probably my favorite dish of the meal. Chips tasted super fresh, and the bean spread and light amount of 'cheese' were pretty good. Quesadilla- kids definitely didn't like this one, and I don't blame them. It was basically a tortilla stuffed with a thick amount of pureed sweet potato. I love sweet potato, but the presentation didn't work- it was just felt like baby food poured into the tortilla. Enchilladas- the sauteed kale it came with was fantastic, also liked the flavor of the beans, though I prefer them chunkier and not a mash. The mole sauce on the tortillas were great, but again didn't like that it was just filled with pureed potatoes. It needed something thicker and/or more flavorful inside. Tamale- was interesting- the jackfruit substitute wasn't too bad. Overall, glad we tried it, but don't feel a need to come back.

Tucked away on the mission is this beautiful restaurant but not just any tests it's a vegan oasis that serves Mexican vegan food. I'm far from a vegan I love my meats especially in my Mexican food. I was willing to give this place a try. Glad I did ! Friday night and was still able to get a table. It was full inside but I got a table outside under some warm heaters. They have a great drink menu with some margaritas and mezcal drinks. I love the smoky flavor of mezcal. I'm started with the blackberry margarita very nice not too sweet and right amount of punch. Next was the appetizer which I picked the trio which was pico, guacamole and Mole. Their mole is so good I can taste all the nuts, and spices. For entree I couldn't chose between the fajitas or the flautas. Went with the fajitas which came with rice beans and fresh homemade thick tortillas. The fajitas were a mix of onions, bell pepper and portabello mushroom. A little too heavy on the onions I would have liked more bell pepper but overall great flavor didn't miss the meat at all. Desert was flan since the coconut lemon cheesecake was sold out. So creamy. Loved my meal and I'll def recommend this place to my vegan and non vegan friends.

Excellent food, good quantity and plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans. We reserved ahead of time, parking is tough but got a spot two blocks away.

Amazing vegan food and customer service, and I always leave feeling good. Personally, I enjoy the chilaquiles and come for brunch on the weekends solely to enjoy them. We had Eduardo serve us today, and he was so attentive and kind!

Amazing food! Every time I'm in sf I can't help but come here!! It's the best to fufill your vegan craving for delicious and healthy Mexican food! Even my non-vegan friend loved it too! Great drinks as well!
Be the first to ReplyPeople need to chill.
This place was delicious. A wide variety of eats for anybody. The food was hot, the chips were crunchy, and the order was correct. Great takeout for a work lunch as well. Great spot!
Be the first to ReplyI've been coming here for 10 years and the food and service
I've been coming here for 10 years and the food and service has gone downhill so much that I will not be returning or recommending this place :( I came on Saturday with my partner and 2 teenage kids. The food was served lukewarm/cold, and was so overpriced that we could have eaten 5 meals at any taqueria on the street for less money. A glass of horchata for $7? are you kidding me? $120 for 2 starters, 2 burritos and 1 main course? I had to send my "quesadillas" back because they were literally served cold. There was barely a hint of cheese to them and they were stuffed so full of canned sweet potato that it was like opening a can of vegetables and squirting some sauce on top. The food came out so fast it was like going to the most overpriced McDonalds on earth. The only thing that was good was the chips and the beans. Save your money and go ANYWHERE else in SF for food.
