The food was absolutely delicious! Their sage aioli and the cheesy grits were to die for! The service was very good, and the ambiance was absolutely amazing! It was so cool being on a boat, and the decor was beautiful.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed this place for the ambiance.
Anything boat related in the city is always a nice touch. However, the BOAT DOES ROCK! It took me a minute to center myself to enter the boat. Be careful when exiting and entering the boat. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who easily gets motion sickness. The service was great and quick. The staff were all considerate. The food was pretty good and cheaper than i expected (though still standard Manhattan prices). The ambiance is the real selling point!

It's a fun, unique experience! Full review on IG @valeries.views You come for the ambiance and views, not so much the expensive mediocre food and drinks. It's beautiful and the staff are really nice. The lobster roll was just okay and the watermelon drink was nice although tasted a bit diluted.
Be the first to ReplyThe epitome of waterfront dining in Manhattan.
Really delicious lobster rolls and a great view. Be aware that the boat does rock up and down a little bit with the tide/waves. Also, there isn't much cover if a storm passes through. Service was good. Would love to go back at sunset!

The ambiance is great, especially when bringing someone who is visiting NY. Be warned however, that the boat rocks since it's docked in the water but waves still move it around. So if anyone in your party easily gets motion sickness, I would not recommend. Making a reservation was easy online and we were seated right away at our scheduled time. The food was delicious, and the place is known for its oyster bar so we had to try it. It's definitely on the pricier side, as a dozen oysters can easily cost $50+, but it's an experience worth trying. The Steelhead entree was delicious. Perfectly cooked and naturally juicy, which is hard to come by with some seafood restaurants. The fingerlings were also a great combination with the fish that melted in my mouth. The lobster salad was also great, with lots of lobster lumps included in the salad. They did not skimp out on the seafood!

The food is good; I got a lobster roll which came very quickly, and they put some sliced cucumbers in it to add to the crunch which made it better. The ambiance is SO nice and it's so cool being on a boat. I barely noticed the waves rocking the boat that much, but if you're someone who gets seasick very easily, I'm not sure if I would recommend (my mom didn't like the rocking back and forth). The boat was really pretty and it was so nice looking at the view of the water. Highly recommended!!

What a fantastic venue and it doesn't get any more waterfront than a boat complete with the rocking in the water. The view no matter which way you are facing is spectacular. Food selection, taste and preparation were all spot on. We had Lobster Salad, Steelhead Trout and Softshell Crab as entrees. Starters were Oysters, Crudo and Polpette. Key Lime Mousse for dessert. Our servers were efficient, attentive and entertaining. We are all wine drinkers and the wine selection was a bit weak but honestly, that did not detract from the overall experience or our whole hearted recommendation.

Great ambience, try and make a reservation for sunset as I'm sure most people do. We came here on a whim and luckily there was a spot at the bar, which we only had an hour before the host told us we had to leave. Not great, but without a reservation I get it. Do not sit at the bar! I, personally, hated it. The boat rocks and the chairs just felt very flimsy with people bumping into me twice. I kept thinking I was going to fall off, but my friend laughed at my troubles - so it could have been just me. We got Lobster roll, french fries, crudo, and steelhead trout. The food was very good, but overpriced - you are paying for the view. A lot of places don't do crudo right, but they nailed it! Definitely recommend trying it. P.S. If you are getting non-bottled water it's a $1/person and is called "Charity Water" a bit of an oxymoron.
Be the first to ReplyGreat service and ambiance.
The food was a bit pricey, but expected for NYC. A must when visiting so that you're experiencing a little calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Grand Banks has to be one of the best spots to go to during the perfect nyc summer night. The oysters were fresh and the shrimp cocktail had nice big shrimps. We also got the scallops which was delicious. Cocktails tasted great too. I really enjoyed the overall nautical vibe and the servers were awesome.

Dining at Grand Banks is a truly unique and wonderful experience in New York City. Walking out on a Tribeca pier to a gorgeous, antique sailboat sets the scene quite well for your day or evening. Once on board, we were treated with impeccable service, delicious food, and amazing drinks. I particularly enjoyed: the oysters which are so fresh and delicious, the tomato & watermelon salad-the epitome of summer dining, and the scallops, which were scrumptiously served with sweet corn. Everyone who works there genuinely wants you to be having a great experience. In the middle of such a bustling and busy city such as New York is, Grand Banks feels calm and relaxing as the boat glides back and forth ever so slightly with the motion of the Hudson River. And if you go in the evening, you cannot beat the beautiful sunset view backdrop.
Be the first to ReplyCame here on a Saturday afternoon with reservation.
They have a minimum spend, I think $50 or $60. The vibe is greattt! Amazing views of the skyline and water. Would definitely come back

Great service, food and ambiance! We will be back when in the city again!
Be the first to ReplyI absolutely loved my experience here! I was in town
I absolutely loved my experience here! I was in town visiting family for the day and my aunt actually found this restaurant - we had no idea it was the last day of it being open for the season either. She placed the reservation and ended up getting us an entire section of the boat to ourselves (could have easily sat 8-10 people). The service was really quick and everything was delicious. We split fries and two of the salads for the table. We all got drinks and they had great options for their cocktails, wine, and beer. My family enjoyed the lobster rolls but I went all in on the scallops and my meal was delectable. They were so fresh and the flavors with the corn and edamame side and the peppers on the scallops were so perfectly balanced. I highly recommend!!

This place has been on my list for 2 years and when I finally tried it I was a little underwhelmed. Nothing was bad but it also wasn't amazing. For the price and the hype, I was expecting one of the best oysters I've ever had but it wasn't the case. The vibe was cool and something different, but I probably wouldn't spend the money again

Met a great group of people here two years ago for brunch and we've been doing our annual friendaversary here ever since. The views are gorgeous and the caviar hash is EVERYTHING. Drinks are okay. The only alcoholic drinks they serve are the ones on their menu. Don't bother asking for a vodka soda, they won't make it. It's kind of a fancy place in a fancy neighbor so you expect it to be a tad pretentious. Make your online reservation and be on time because they won't budge on how much time you have left despite all the empty seats. It's pretty much exactly what you think this place will be like. Basically, cross your t's and dot your i's. I will still be back for the views and the food alone... once a year
Be the first to ReplyAwesome vibes, spice girls themed right now.
Cocktails were great. Limited menu for non-seafood eaters.

Great place to sit and have a drink or dinner by the waterfront. Food was very fresh and the sunset is hard to beat. Easily accessible.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has become extremely snobby.
Very rude, not welcoming or accommodating. The staff makes you feel like they're upset you showed up.

I am an Aunt to a beautiful baby girl who is to be named later. After spending some time with the mom and dad, I went here to meet up with my guy. He decided to take a cab on a Saturday in NYC so he was clearly running late. I sat by the oyster bar and ordered a drink while waiting for him. I met a lovely couple and they let me third wheel while I waited for my date, who did come all flustered and sweaty. I was not upset to begin with but if I were, boy did he make it hard to be upset with him. Anyways, this place is literally a boat. If you plan on going, go when it is slightly warmer out. It was fine when the sun was up, but as the sun set and the temperature dropped, the drinks and the cold air made it unbearably cold. We were very cold and desperately looking for warmth. However, this place has amazing oysters, strong drinks, very nice staff and the customers that come here are also great. Such a great spot. I would most likely come here more during the summer now that I know this is a moment. Such a shame we found this place so late..
Be the first to ReplyThe best date dinner spot! Dine on a docked sailboat.
Be sure to prep your reservation because they are limited. If you're sitting on the boat you will feel the waves! considering it is a sailboat it is a bit crowded with staff and other guests. Our dishes were delicious! We would definitely be back!

Be the first to ReplyStarting off, the main thing that drew me to Grand Banks
Starting off, the main thing that drew me to Grand Banks was the concept of eating on a functional boat. The boat sits in the water, attached to a dock and yes it does move a bit while you eat. The views are fantastic, the ship is well kept, and the ambiance was lovely. I went here on a summer evening, which I think is the perfect time to go. The prime reservations do go fairly quickly so I'd recommend reserving in advance. Also there is a per-person deposit required so just be aware of that. I had the Wellfleet oysters to start, which were lovely and exactly what I expected. The oyster prices are all very reasonable, and the staff seemed knowledgeable about the oyster selection, which made me happy. My only qualm is that the actual food is a bit overpriced for what you get. I came here in the summer, and had the crab, which was breaded and fried to the point that I couldn't tell if there was any crab at all. It also came lukewarm. However from what I can tell this place isn't really marketed as a restaurant but rather an oyster bar, so if you just came for oysters and maybe drinks (I didn't have anything to drink so I can't speak to that) you'd have a great time. Some more general information: this place is not open year-round, so make sure to check the schedule. Also, the pier directly to the north of the pier that Grand Banks sits on has a lot of green space and benches (including swinging ones), and visiting it after eating made for a really cool end of the night for me and my party. Overall, Grand Banks is a great oyster bar on a lovely historical ship and fantastic views of the surrounding city.

How can you not love this place? ย You sit on a docked boat and get cold drinks and fresh oysters brought out to you on a warm sunny mid fall day. ย It's a perfect place for a brief respite from lower Manhattan.

I recently had lunch at Grand Banks on a beautiful November day. ย Frequently restaurants with great/unique locations and views don't actually have good food and service. ย In the case of Grand Banks, however, I have to say that the whole experience was outstanding. ย Both the food and the service excelled. ย I thoroughly enjoyed it. ย I strongly recommend Grand Banks as a place to go to for a great meal and overall experience!
