Be the first to ReplyTiny little eatery but it has great food.
And great service too!! Lovely English breakfast. Would definitely recommend for breakfast/lunch in the city Centre

Walked for a while around the centre of this wonderful city trying to find somewhere independent and pleasant for breakfast and coffee. Who were your town planners, Birmingham? When are they due to finish? Anyway, found this great wee place near New Street Station, just outside, in fact. I'm in the station fairly regularly but won't have to eat in there again. This is a great coffee shop, lovely morning roll, excellent coffee. Served with a welcome and a smile. Peaceful atmosphere. Just the kind of place where I could spend an hour or two with the newspapers. I will return. And again.A wee oasis of fine-ness.

Great independent for breakfast or lunch. I had a bacon and sausage bap and flat white for £5. It will be much better when all the tram works are completed.

Very friendly staff and great food make this venue pretty good! I went twice in two days. They do a £3 meal deal for a baguette, can and crisps and they make the baguette infront of you. This isn't like the baguette shops on new street where there are 20 staff churning out the food and shouting the baguette name. It's a personal service. There's lots of seating should you wish to sit and eat your food. But if you are looking to support a local business with hardworking staff you can't go far wrong here.
Be the first to ReplyMonday morning coffee is pretty much a necessity.
My morning cup today came from the newly renamed Grand Central Kitchen. Conveniently located right outside the station this is a nice little find as It is very fairly priced for both coffee and food items. I paid £2.30 for a late latte that at some places in the area can be closer to £3. As my train was not too far away I decided to take away, but I would come back here again. A pleasant start to another week.

Edd and I were looking for somewhere to eat and everywhere was full! We remembered that Grand Central Kitchen was now open and had heard good things about it.It was reasonably busy in there. Being straight across from the station, it is ideal to drop in and pick up something before or for during your train journey. Quite a few people were sat at the tables.I liked the feel of the place, they've put some effort into making it look nice. Stylish light fittings, furniture and signage make this a bit more than a bog standard cafe. The food is fine. I had a pulled pork wrap which was freshly made, I could choose what salad etc I wanted on it. Edd had a pizza which was bought in and heated but was fine. They have a salad/sandwich bar so you can build your own meal subway-style and there are a range of hot foods too. I didn't have a coffee but they have a proper coffee machine. There's also a huge fridge with a big selection of soft drinks. Handy to remember before your train journey.I don't think I would go here especially but it would be handy before a train journey. A pleasant atmosphere and serviceable food.

A solid cafe in a great location, perfect for the weary traveller. This is a nice little contemporary cafe right opposite new street station, décor is clean and modern with a nice airy atmosphere and high ceiling.Seating is comfortable and the free wi-fi makes this a great spot to wile away the time waiting for the train away from the manic bustle inside the station itself.Food is cheap and cheerful with a good selection of wraps, pizzas and burgers to either eat in or take away.

Well, gone is the old deli that stood here and in its place is Grand Central Kitchen. Had a burger from here which was reasonably priced but most certainly had about of a premium on the cost due to their location. The burger itself was nothing special, and there was not much of note there. The decor is quite modern and nice and if you get the right chairs then it's comfortable. All in all, not that great and can get better for less fairly close by.

You might remember this venue was previously occupied by Stone Willy's Deli. Stone Willy's has gone forever and out of the ashes has emerged Grand Central Kitchen... Which is an improvement (to say the least).Grand Central Kitchen was another business that popped up whilst I was away and once I was made aware of it, I decided I would pop down and see if the new offering was like. Grand Central seems to be a much brighter and bigger venue (or more cleverly laid out) than it's predecessor. Mainly in place to offer a resting place for commuters using New Street Station, it has it's purpose and seems to be able to cater for it fairly well. This venue has a range of tables and offers power points and WiFi (perfect for that hour/half hour before you catch the train) and offers a range of convenience food, snacks and hot drinks.I was planning to visit and do a bit of work as an afternoon office, but it didn't feel like that sort of venue. There were a few commuters whiling away a short period before moving on to their next destination and a few people ordering a late lunch when I popped in. The food and drink centres around jacket potatoes, baguettes/sarnies, salads and pizza's and the venue offers a range of hot drinks (coffee, tea and hot chocolate) and seems to be reasonably priced for the location. I grabbed a quick Americano to go (priced at £2.20) and snapped some quick photos before sitting in the cathedral grounds. The service was polite and friendly and the coffee was actually fairly good (considering what you might find in the station). I wouldn't say this is the sort of coffee shop you're going to sit and write your next award winning novel in, but if you have some time to kill before catching a train or want to grab something substantial before a journey (they do offer takeout too), I would definitely opt to grab something from here over the offerings in the station itself.
