Service was fast and food was good! I had the pork and egg congee, a noodle soup, fried noodle and beef dish, and fried squid. The fried squid wasn't super flavorful, and even some of my friends who visit Great NY Noodle Town more frequently said there was something different about it. My favorite dish was the fried noodles with beef--the noodles were 5 stars by themselves, but the beef wasn't the best quality, and I felt like it brought the dish down. I'm not sure if this is worth a complaint given how affordable the restaurant was, but...Overall, for an affordable and generally satisfying meal, Great NY Noodle Town is a good option, but maybe not a "great" one.
Be the first to ReplyBBQ was cold, as if it were from the day before.
Brooklyn Chinatown has better BBQ products.Pan fried noodles were decent but there wasn't enough sauce. Large portions and low prices are a plus though.

ALWAYS better than Wo Hop. Sliced fish with bitter melon. Bitter to the taste is sweet to the blood.

Our usual order consists of two duck noodle soups with a combination plate, but after seeing the difference in how they cut the meat when you order it by itself, we decided we would do just that next time. This month, we got the 1/2 Soy Sauce Chicken, Beef Chow Fun with Vegetables, and, as usual, the Duck Noodle Soup. The chicken was SO much--two people could share this and easily be full. But it was sooo good, with thick cuts and well-marinated all-around. We were expecting our beef chow fun to be dry, but this dish was still good nevertheless! The beef is really tender and it's easy to eat. But this dish was also soooo big and could also easily fill two people. And the duck noodle soup... perfection. The cuts of duck were thicker this time around, too! I'm happy to say that we have more than enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. I love Noodle Town. Period.

Food was terrible! The barbecued spare ribs had a horrible taste, were very fatty, chewy, and inedible. The roast pork also had a terrible taste, was extremely fatty and chewy, lacked meat and was inedible. The roast chicken was slimey and grossly inedible. We threw out the majority of this inedible "food" and had to eat another meal.Based on this horrendous food experience, we checked the current NYC Department of Health Food Inspection rating for this restaurant; it was a "B". This means there were significant Health code violations. Not surprising.
Be the first to Replywe are so happy we found this place.
We had the Pan-Fried Duck Lo Mein and Roast Duck with E-Foo noodles. We gulped it down! Wow...just exactly perfect! Great service, great prices and great complimentary green tea. Probably the best duck I have ever eaten.

I enjoyed the roast duck and roast pork over white rice combo. I also ordered half a soy sauce chicken. The chicken was cold and a little undercooked. I would return to the restaurant to order their bbq meats.

the food was OKAY, the roast meat was good but overall any chance of a good experience here was obliterated by the horrendous customer service. it was pretty busy and we were only a party of two, but that's no reason to treat us any worse just because we weren't going to be giving them as much business as a larger group. the waiter barely gave us a minute to get situated before coming over and asking us for our order, and i felt very rushed the entire time i was trying to eat. we actually wanted to order something else, but the waiter didn't even give us a chance before slapping down our check. the second that we paid, another waiter swooped in to say "we have a very long line." and that was that. i didn't even have the chance to take a sip of water. i will never return here nor will i ever recommend anyone to come here.
Be the first to ReplyTop spot in Chinatown.
Get the roast baby pig and the duck. When in season the Soft Shell Crabs are amazing.

Be the first to ReplyThis review is embarrassingly belated as I've been coming
This review is embarrassingly belated as I've been coming here for years, but also--there's really nothing to say that hasn't already been said. This place is an institution in Chinatown (and Manhattan in general), and it has endured the best and the worst. The food is traditional Canto, from the fried egg noodles to the BBQ. This is not the place to look for soup dumplings or mala, so if you don't know your Chinese regional cuisines, you might be surprised/disappointed. The quality is fine, but not remarkable, but the food comes fast and hot at any hour of the day. Speaking of which, I'm sad they're no longer open 24/7, but I get that the pandemic has screwed up everything good in our lives. Keep on keeping on, Noodle Town.
Be the first to ReplyI think this is a solid 3.
5 stars. I don't think I'd wait to eat here or necessarily seek it out, but I will say it's good for inexpensive and quick eats. The restaurant itself is really small and very standard, but it doesn't matter because you're not coming here for ambiance. I tried the below:-Snow Pea Shoots: these are very good. Perfectly cooked and garlicky. -Jumbo Walnut Shrimp: standard. They don't coat the shrimp in the dressing, it's just in giant globs on top which is odd. But overall it tasted fine. -Roast Pork Noodle Soup: one of the dishes they're know for (the other being the duck). This is pretty good - definitely worth ordering if you come here and it's insanely inexpensive. -Salted Fish Fried Rice: didn't enjoy. I know the fish is salted, but I just thought it was overly pungent and far too salty.

5/5Service: 2/5If you asked me about Noodle Town a few years later, I would have given it 5/5 but recently, the way they treat some of their customers, especially the old customers, has gone down. Yesterday, we were rushed to leave as soon as we got the food. I feel like if you're a new customer, you'll be treated well. I can't say enough good things about the food, but the service has gone down. It's quick, but they expect you to leave quickly as well if there's a line.

We ate here twice in two days when visiting NYC during our family trip because it was that good! Food was fresh and came out super quick! The restaurant is a hole in a wall and can get very busy during lunch and dinner but it was worth it. Highly recommend!!

Great NY Noodle Town specialty: roast duck, char siu and roast pig. Cash only of course, on the outskirts of Chinatown on Bowery. If you can see the Manhattan Bridge, you are at the right place (there are similarly named restaurants in Chinatown as well). The menu is placed under the clear glass covering on the table (so you know the table is clean enough for you to see through it haha) and service is really quick. They may not look attentive, but once you wave them down, they quickly come over and take your order. Would recommend the 2-meat combo, picking between roast duck, char siu and roast pig. I feel like the 3-meat combo they automatically shrink the portions since they're giving you more variety. You could always be better off ordering the meats to go and cooking your own rice at home. I came right around mid-Autumn festival and the line was out the door of people getting whole ducks to bring home. Nowadays, I find myself realizing that most Chinese food is just as good in the restaurant as it is at home. You're still supporting the businesses but giving them less stress in worrying about staff shortages, less dishes to clean and less chance of exposure to sickness. Don't forget to tip your favorite restaurants and keep coming back! Ordering directly from the restaurant is best, since delivery services like Grubhub, UberEats, Caviar etc take a percentage of their profits.

One of THE best Chinese restaurants in NYC, no frills just good eats... I moved away from NYC about 3 years and every time I go back I have to stop by. Go-to order is the half Roast Duck, Roasted Pork and a side of Shrimp Fried Rice and/or the Pork Lo Mein.... Always consistent, always delicious. Each dish is made to order and packed with all the flavors. It never, ever disappoints and hits the spot.
