Great nigh out with work team
I made a booking for a work related dinner with a group of 12 people. The Gunpowder team, Akhil, was very helpful in confirming the dinner and guest requirements, as well as welcoming and looking after us during the evening. We opted for the set menu and the food was fantastic, all the guest loved the dishes and we had a very pleasant evening. Im already looking forward to my next visit and I can highly recommend it.

Donโt go here if youโre expecting an authentic curry experience as itโs not that. Donโt expect your usual mixed grills, naan/roti or mango lassi as they donโt provide that. They provide an alternative typof Indian dining experience which seems to be loosely based on an upmarket dishoom concept. Food was fine and I enjoyed the spicy Brockley but nothing to shout from the roof tops about. e

Our overnight stay in London was amazing and finished our first day by visiting Gunpowder Tower Bridge. We had booked previous to our visit on the booking app which was easy and was sent a confirmation text the day before to make sure we would still be able to make the reservation. On arrival we were met by an extremely happy and friendly gentleman called Bibek. He showed us to our table which was set in a very nice ambience and was very clean. We opted for the festive menu without wine paring. The food arrived at separate intervals and was absolutely delicious the soft shell crab and lamb were to die for and melted in the mouth. My husband does not like bread and butter pudding but as it was on the options he gave it a go and devoured the whole pudding he commented that he is now converted. I would say the only thing which may I say is very small is the limited options for bottled lagers . We enjoyed our visit so much and shared photos on face book, now my parents are planning to visit in July. We would definitely visit again and would like to thank Bibek and all the team at Gunpowder, again a big thank you for such an amazing evening.

A place to revive your tastebuds in Indian cuisine. What an amazing service from Bibek and outstanding planning by Shawn to organise our wedding anniversary. Food is wow and the cocktails just go down like elixir. We will definitely be back. Thank you guys for the amazing service and food.

On Thursday night, a few of my coworkers and I arrived here. The location of the restaurant is stunning. Such a beautiful exterior. When we got there, it was crowded. Our table was cared for by Fahema. extremely polite and well-mannered. She was quite knowledgeable about the menu because she recommended every meal we tasted. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding.

We were looking for Sunday Roast and found something better! This place is close to Tower Bridge but a little hidden away. I my view its well worth looking for if you want a slightly different take in Indian food. All the food looked and tasted great. Full of flavour. I'm not a massive fan of very hot or spicy food and it was probably at about my limit. The thing I liked was the flavours of spice and smokiness from the grill came through the heat. Food great, service great, ambience chilled. Perfect from a Sunday afternoon.

I came here after work with some of my mates on Friday. It was not too busy at the beginning but then it got pretty packed. The menu had good amount of food and fahema thoroughly went through it recommending some dishes. She did an excellent job because the chicken chop, lamb chop and prawns all tasted amazing. Great food with great service.

I love Indian food and my friend suggested we try Gunpowder restaurant in Tower Bridge, the food was delicious and we had the pleasure of being looked after by Anna, a really lovely lady who kindly gave my friend a birthday desert! Thanks again Anna! The only thing I would like in the future is a bigger selection of dishes to choose from the menu. X

I was here with a large group and I must say the experience was fantastic. Fahema provided an absolutely wonderful service. She has a beautiful smile that instantly lifts the mood. It quickly became busy and she managed it expertly. Our food and drinks arrived on time and we didn't feel rushed. I would advise anyone to eat at this place.

We had the Christmas set menu for ยฃ65. The potato was cold. Bread and butter pudding was cold. Rather go down brick lane for the cost. No wonder it lost the Michelin star should sack the chef. Would recommend the use of a microwave to heat up the food.

Had a great trip out to this new attraction with close friends. Really enjoyed the experience and was able to get involved in the story - fab story telling and truly immersive through characters, VR and the authentic smell!! Enjoyed it so much, am planning a birthday treat for my teenagers. Suitable for school age groups so a great family activity.

Really poor food. Service was nice but the food was to a poor standard. Also is very expensive for what it is, try another Indian restaurant.

We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. We were looking for an interesting Indian food restaurant and this place did not disappoint. We tried many dishes and they were all delicious. Our server was new and did a great job. This is a wonderful spot to enjoy a top end meal. I read all sorts of reviews from many different sources. So glad I chose Gunpowder. Highly recommend.

Yesterday, my family and I came here for dinner. I have to add that the service was excellent. The young girl handed us drinks as soon as we sat down and even inquired about whether we needed ice. She quickly ran through the menu with us and made a few dish recommendations. Food was excellent. We are grateful to meet you again, Fahima.

Stated meat lamb & chicken is halal, but cross contaminations with non halal meats like duck & pork also

We've been to quite a few Indian restaurants in London, and Gunpowder belongs near the top of our list. Every dish was interesting and memorable. The location of the restaurant is nice -- good for a stroll after dinner along the water.

This week, I had a great time with a friend. The food was very delicious. Fahima, the small girl who greeted us, performed an outstanding job. Her customer service was excellent. She was incredibly kind and friendly. Always kept an eye on us. The soft shell crab was highly recommended by her. It was wonderful, as was the full beef rib for the main course. I'm definitely going to return!

The experience is still under construction in places but food was amazing and the staff are friendly and willing Toilets clean and the overall VR a experience has been worked on so much that itโs really good Made me jump a few times

Pleasant restaurant by Tower Bridge. It is not a traditional Indian restaurant and we had what I would call Indian tapas. The selection is a bit limited but the food was delicious and came very quickly with friendly service. There were only 2 desserts to choose from.
Inhospitable Staff, I'd Stay Away
I went here to have lunch, but wasn't given a table as they said it was their closing time for the afternoon. Before, I set to leave from the restaurant I asked if I could use the loo, to which they refused by saying, 'toilets are for customers only'. Now I appreciate why 'toilets are for customers only', but I was actually a customer who had gone there to eat, and it just turned out they didn't have tables. On highlighting this fact to the receptionist, I was told that she was just following orders, following which I asked to speak to the manager, who decided to hide their inhospitable behaviour behind the veil of Covid measures, when the truth is that all Covid protocols have been lifted a couple of weeks ago. I would strongly suggest people to not go here, as this behaviour is not only inhospitable, it doesn't reflect the Indian value of 'Atithi Devo Bhava', which means that a guest is like God.
Be the first to ReplyNot very indian
Had a nice evening here albeit a bit unusual. The waiters are all Indian people but thatโs about as Indian as the restaurant gets.
For example no Indian beer available. Local London IPA or lager. The menu is slightly strange. I suppose you might call it modern Anglo Indian.
Certainly not traditional Indian. As an example no breads of any description. No Dhal. No pickles etc.
The menu is constructed of small plates and sharing plates. We were four people so had a fair selection. Best by far was the lamb chops. Simple and nicely spiced.
Duck leg in a sauce, prawns in a sauce, potatoes in a sauce, cheese in a sauce all oily wet unremarkable things.
Not much on the accompaniments list. Plain rice was about it.
Lots of sauce no bread? Surely an error?
2 desserts to chose from.
Nothing wrong with the quality of food here.
We were in a booth near the serving area where a juggler seemed to be practicing (badly) with crockery and glasses. Other than that there was very little atmosphere.
Itโs actually a glass cube not very charming place with a few Indian trinkets.
Nothing wrong with the food and good value for what you get.
For people that donโt know much about Indian cuisine but want some good quality spicy food.
Just not traditional enough for me.
Lovely meal quality food
Limited menu but the food is of high quality. Not cheap - dinner for 3 with water and couple of drinks ยฃ210 but the food was good. Staff were a bit funny about table timings which proved not to be an issue but otherwise it was good and I would go back.

Some fantastic Indian food! Very good menu with a lot of different choices which caters for both meat lovers and vegetarians. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. 9/10
