Absolutely horrible.
See my review on TikTok @jeanniereviewtype Had been going there for years spent tens of thousands. Had a problem last year, contacted the manager, told me to eff off after all the money we spent and referrals we went. Then told us this year not to come back. DON'T spend your money at this resort.
Be the first to ReplyNot what I expected.
My wife hyped this place and we came with our son for a nice quick trip. We had requested an early check in on Monday and were told no problem. When I went to check in they said that my wife made the reservation and since I wasn't named on it I couldn't check us in or even start the process. I was told it was a security risk, to my face. Valet said I couldn't self park in a mostly empty lot, and when they found me to tell me about an hour after we had arrived, they parked my car for me. When I went to retrieve it, and handed them the ticket, they told me to just walk to it down the parking lot. It's 30 degrees out. And isn't this valet? Finding our room, even with the map, was difficult and freezing. And with a very heavy bag it was both strenuous and dangerous. It smells like dead animals in several places outside. The hotel isn't nearly as nice as the prices would indicate. But the views are gorgeous. Ordered room service. Hotel didn't have a menu and didn't know the website. Ordered two cheeseburgers. They arrived without cheese. Sent it back and they clearly just sent the same burgers back with cheese, now 40 minutes cold. Sent it back said to make new ones. Waited another 30 minutes to receive THE SAME food again, now almost an hour old, this time with the order totally wrong again. This is an absolute disgrace for a 5 star hotel. Can't even serve a hot burger or get tha order right. And two burgers costs $80! Upon checkout the next morning, the front desk handed us a bill which included TWO lunches we didn't have. When I said that we didn't have any lunch on site, they said they had to check. I said no, you don't need to, we really didn't and please take off the charges. Nope. They proceeded to open up an envelope full of bills from the day, and one by one go through finding the charges, trying to prove us wrong. I said, "she doesn't believe us," and the girl said "I do believe you, but I have to check to see if you aren't lying." She made us wait ten minutes only to prove that they were in fact attempting to charge us $150 for meals we didn't have. And made us wait as if we were liars. Do not come here. It is a 2 star experience AT BEST. Staff didn't care that we were on a site visit for an ENTIRE HOTEL BUYOUT. We were just low tier guests.

My husband and I love Gurneys and we recently came back for our baby moon. The entire stay was such a lovely experience (even in off season during early February!). I hadn't been to the spa since it had been renovated and it was really nice. I got a prenatal massage with Basia that was amazing. I'm 8 months pregnant and lots of muscles and joints are starting to hurt. She helped me feel like new. Emily at the spa's front desk was exceptional and I appreciate that helped me with my appointments. There was nothing she couldn't sort out and I really appreciate people like her - they're what make a hotel stay such an amazing experience. Also, the gift shop had such beautiful things. The blonde woman working there was incredibly kind and always had a smile on her face. We loved walking by and saying hi. Her positive energy was contagious and she was very sweet about our upcoming baby :) With the baby coming soon, we may not be traveling in the immediate future but we're already excited to bring her back with us one day soon so she can fall in love with Gurneys like we have.
Be the first to ReplyReally pricey and not worth it unless you come in warmer
Really pricey and not worth it unless you come in warmer climate. There is no connecting hallway to go from the main lobby/restaurant to your rooms or the spa. So when it rains or snows you have to go outside to go to one place or another. Rooms need updating ceilings in the residence area has paint peeling and looks like there were leaks. No other food options nearby because everything is far away (not walking distance). The spa doesn't have much features. Would be nice if there was a heated pool outside for the winter. Our room had issues too, toilet didn't flush well and when it did it would splash up like a geyser. We could hear a dog barking next to our room. And we had to ask for obvious things like additional slippers and robes when they knew we were a party of 4 (we only had 2 of each). Definitely not worth the price to come in the winter.
Be the first to ReplyUnfortunately, we had a less than stellar experience.
Even after we brought this up to management their process of "fixing" it was absolutely horrible. No focus on Customer Service. our cabin was absolutely unacceptable and after one night stay they switched us to a new cabin. We were told by management that they would not charge us for the upgrade... What a silly thing to say... of course you won't charge us. Also we were informed that we would have to check out our old cabin at 11 AM and would not have the new location available till 4 PM! Absolutely unacceptable to not have a room for five hours when that was our only full day at the spa. We were also promised a night credit and it has been over a month and we have not seen this credit back to our credit card. Numerous emails and phone calls and asking for confirmation and no response back. Many other things happen during our stay but I won't for you with the details. What a disappointing visit. So unfortunate.
Be the first to ReplyRecently stay at Gurney's for a short getaway.
While the spa was excellent. The room was disappointing. Rooms need major refresh o/a. The view was of ocean, but overlooked parking lot. This was not what I expected. The room was too far from restaurant & spa. The issues with room was a missing toilet paper holder, mold in tub and no functioning bedside lamp. There was no luxury here. I would return to the spa. Massage therapy was the best I ever experienced.
Be the first to ReplyOk, amazing location and views.
We stopped in for a drink and to relax at the outdoor area. Nice fire pits to help warm you. We ordered 2 drinks: a Peroni beer ($12) and a glass of Prosecco. Tan came out to $44. That's right, $32 for 1 glass of Prosecco. The menu said $20, which is also ridiculous. But, I get it, the view. I was going to complain , but I didn't want to be that guy. Definitely glad we stayed at Montauk Manor.
Be the first to ReplyAgain back from another work getaway but I'll be honest
Again back from another work getaway but I'll be honest this is a 3.5 at best. While the room was decent the view was beautiful but there's somethings that definitely need to be improved and/or addressed. This resort although I did not need it needs to be more accessible. As people stay with luggage and going up and down flights of stairs is not feasible for some. Valet leaving peoples keys in their cars with windows wide open is not cool by any means. Several coworkers have to agree. One of my coworkers even had the wrong car pulled up when she wanted to go into town because of the lack of communication slash language barrier. Again on my personal experience I had asked to have my bag placed in the front passenger side on the floor of my vehicle. When following one of the valet guys because I needed my sunglasses he immediately questioned me why I was at the vehicle I retorted to getting my sunglasses and then asked where my bag was? Mind you I just asked the same valet guy less than 2 minutes prior on where to put my small suitcase. He appeared annoyed that I was trying to get my bag out of the back of my car. I prefer it up front with me and plus my USB cable was in the front of the bag so I wanted to be able to plug in my phone to use Apple CarPlay. Service was definitely lacking during all the meal service. Which I can sort of understand... but something's were definitely lacking and almost awry. Like first night for dinner we had choice of steak (only allowed to be cooked rare), roasted chicken (which for a few coworkers it came out raw) and salmon (which I had and it wasn't cooked very well either). Also post dinner some of us wanted to sit outside in one of the igloos. After we were all settled a worker came out and told us we were not allowed in the igloo. A coworker asked "why?" to which a lousy reply of "it's reserved." No where did it say reserved and a whole bunch of us were now huddled under the heaters and the fire pit. Cell phone service was definitely crappy but also I equated it to us being at the end of the island. Bed wasn't too comfy and while the shower was definitely warmer than last year at MYC (fka Star Island) the fact that the water wasn't going down during the shower was rather skeevy. While I'm sure I'll be back for another work trip which I appreciate but I don't think I'd be too happy with the amount of money they charge for a room if my job wasn't comp'ing it.
Be the first to ReplyI never been more disappointed in my life.
I've been dying to go to gurneys for years & I finally made it there recently & to my surprise it was nothing like I expected. First off, no is friendly or helpful. No one knows anything & you get the run around when you do ask. I tried to reserve an igloo & was told to do it online. I checked online it said there was none available mind you they were all empty & available. I then asked the bartender who directed me to the waitress who directed me to the front desk. I went to the front desk & they directed me to the hostess. Long story short I just ended up leaving because clearly I got tired of standing around for over an hour. For such a "luxurious" place I would never go back to be treated in such a manner.

Gurney's Montauk is simply the best! Our family has made a tradition of going out to Gurney's since our daughters wedding there in 2019. This week we spent out there was wonderful as usual. Service is great, views are second to none, fire pit afternoon/evening's are fabulous and Scarpetta is amazing! Day of departure breakfast at Tillies is delicious. One of our favorite places to take a break from reality!! Thank you Gurney's Montauk for making our stay fabulous.

Gorgeous Location! They have no elevators to get to your room, which I understand since it is a local beach front hotel. But... you HAVE to be RICH, otherwise don't bother to stay here. Maybe for a drink at the bar on season. Off season I was here and the walk up and down the many stairs with luggage and having to valet my car to go get anything was less than fun for the money. I love the location, about 3 hours from NYC off season, 6+ on season. Montauk is lovely and Gurney's is a hot spot. It's gorgeous and its also a challenge.

The food, drinks and atmosphere are really good but unfortunately the service is bad every time I go. It seams as if the staff is always brand new and not trained enough. We have had to place an order multiple times before we get it.

Awfully Rude Demeaning Customer Service! Subsequent to our sublime visit, they took out $200 from card on file of two "what we believed to be" disposable spa bracelets! When we called about the dispute, not only did "he" not apologize for the misunderstanding, the representative insisted that there's no way the spa attendant at check-in didn't tell us of having to return the bracelets after treatments. Well ... the spa attendant absolutely didn't. A bad taste this has left in me. Though it's absolutely gorgeous, it's the treatment of their customers that counts most of all. Being so, I cannot rave about this spa as I did before.cheers!
Be the first to ReplyI don't think I've ever had an experience quite as terrible
I don't think I've ever had an experience quite as terrible as I did here & unfortunately I was celebrating my anniversary. A designer handbag of sentimental value was stolen out of my room & I wish I had read the reviews because this isn't the first time something like this happens. My boyfriend (who gifted me the bag) & I both saw it prior to leaving to the spa in the morning on the chair next to the bed. When we came back to start getting ready for dinner it was gone. We reported it immediately. We also called our doorman back home to check our apartment to make sure we hadn't left it behind. We were both in complete disbelief that this would happen at a place like this & blamed ourselves first. There is an open investigation on this but here are a couple of the ridiculous excuses & commentary I received from multiple managers at this "5 star" establishment:- maybe they thought it was trash (a duster bag with the brand logo on it and a bulky handbag in it?) - Our staff doesn't even know what a duster bag is! (... ok?)- Maybe they thought it was trash because the people that work here are so old (I saw staff ranging between ages of 22-40 around our room)- We hate to use the word stolen maybe it was rolled up in the sheets or something & taken with the laundry (I don't cuddle my bag to sleep why would it be rolled up in sheets?)- Maybe it was taken by another guest staying here (I never took the purse out of the room)The investigation requires checking hours of security footage & can take months assuming that the staff member would be stupid enough to be unaware of where security cameras are & wouldn't conceal it. But you know they are sooo old so maybe. I didn't receive any sort of compensation, discount, a free drink, a promo code nothing. Just a generic so sorry about this with an air of we don't care nor do we believe you. As a woman of color, I can't help but wonder if my case would've been treated with a better sense of urgency or overall consideration if I were white like the majority of patrons. This isn't the type of customer service I'm used to from any hotel let alone 5 star when even smaller incidents would happen. They will reach out to me with "updates" on this "case" which sounds like they hope I let it go at some point. I will promptly add an update if there ever is one. The only two positives I can give this place is the gorgeous spa and the restaurant. Go relax & eat while your room gets robbed should be the tagline.
Be the first to ReplyStayed here with my wife for our anniversary.
Our cottage was clean and comfortable. The food in Scarpetta beach was excellent, dinner especially. We had a few hiccups throughout our stay, but the resort staff took care of everything. Thank you
Be the first to ReplyI am so disappointed in Gurneys.
They claim to be a 5 star hotel but lost my girlfriends keys to her car. They put blame on the valet and didn't bother to follow up with us or check that we got home. When we called them back after getting a ride home from other friends they couldn't be bothered to return our calls. No offer to comp not even breakfast.Overpriced, over rated. Never again!

From the residence's incredible decor and private patio, to the perfectly placed indoor pool fed by the ocean, Gurney's keeps getting better with time. The new indoor pool and pool area is flawless. The spa is excellent and the cold plunge pool area is super chic. Service was impeccable. Room service was on-point at all times. Our room was unreal. We'll be back. Checkin & checkout were a breeze.

Hello,My fiancé and I were supposed to get married at Gurneys in 2020 but due to covid it obviously didn't happen we had to postpone it for 2 years waiting for the world. Having spent 4 years planning you would figure the venue would be equipped to handle such an event. We arrived and the disaster began. 1. Venue did not have anything specific for us upon welcoming to the venue. You spend 10- 100's of thousands of dollars on a venue and plan everything around it and not even a card or note or bottle of champagne for our special weekend. 2. Venue placed us in a unrenovated portion of the property with active water running down hallway and rust throughout the venue. Our door didn't close to our room and was partially open most of the time.3. Staff were ill equipped to handle items on their menu. My guests wanted to buy cigars and sit on patio. No staff knew anything about it or could find it after 40 min of waiting they asked if I wanted to go into the back to find a cigar I wanted instead. 4. We had an open tab and 50 guests on the back patio. We had to beg wait staff on a Friday night to give us attention to spend money. 5. Our rehearsal dinner had raw Hamburgers. Not medium rare or rare. Raw. I advised the wait staff of the issue they pretended to not hear me nor speak English. No leadership6. Room rates for our guests were not locked at price and we had to speak to the venue on its behalf several times to correct them. No leadership or consistent experience7. Our guest couldn't get anyone to answer the phone to book the room with the room rates. And we had to facilitate on their behalf. No leadership8. The wedding itself the floor gave way on our 85-year-old grandmother fell through the floor and had to the hospital. She had 5 staples put in her leg from the falling through the floor and missed the end of our wedding along with other damages. No leadership was onsite at the time of the event, nor could we get a hold of anyone. The venue did not reach out to me, or anyone post event and I had to demand to speak to the GM 5 days after the incident. He advised it would be handled. Then when it came time to handle, I was told not to contact him anymore and deal with insurance. Once I went down that route, I was advised they don't have insurance to cover disruption of an event. 9. The afterparty said would feed 150 people I had to request to bring more food out with only 60-70 people present. Nobody could help nobody to talk to. Nobody to resolve. You may ask why not talk to the venue. I spoke to everyone at the venue in the last few weeks following all of this issue and the biggest being an 85 yr old grandmother falling through a floor. This venue is poorly run, managed, maintained and quite possibly the most unprofessional response I have ever seen to a disaster wedding that could have been resolved by any customer service initiative. Instead, I am left with advising everyone else. Hold your wedding elsewhere demand they prove event insurance prior to holding the wedding there. I have never been more insulted by a venues incompetence on delivering the basic necessities of an event than in this trip. Buyer beware.

Be the first to ReplyWent there for lunch.
Everything was cold. Decent service. One beer and glass had soap and tasted like it for $11. Aperol Spitzer on menu was $18 charged $20. Two hamburgers below average, french fries cold, clam chowder cold and below average, caesar salad average at best. So disappointed. Beautiful view of ocean beware of the bees. Would not return nor would I recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWay overpriced and the management team is just horrendous.
Joshua Strom aka (JUBBSMONEY1 on instagram) was by far the rudest hotel manager I've ever dealt with. Not only my wife's birthday but our 1 year wedding anniversary they promised to accommodate our reservation because of a mix up with there sister hotel at star island. We even have the conversation on a recorded line and they did not care or acknowledge any compensation to fix the issue. They then tried charging us an additional $1,400 a night when we even found the identical room on hotels tonight for $800 a night. I'm disgusted by Gurneys and there management team, they should literally just fire the management staff and start fresh. Hey Josh once your done reading this, remember my name pal. This will not be the last you heard from myself or my legal team.
Be the first to ReplyAs a visitor, we had a great day at Gurney's.
We booked spa appointments weeks ago just to make sure we could get in during our vacation. The hotel and property are gorgeous. The staff was attentive and efficient. The food and drinks were amazing. Spa services were impressive. We would definitely come back.
Be the first to ReplyRecent visit unfortunately was far less than desired.
We had an ocean view room, which was great however, something wrong with a fan which we complained about from the beginning of our stay, noise was constant and annoying, sleep with the noise was impossible. Here's the thing, initially we were told the room was not available, suddenly upon check in the room was magically available. Seems to me previous clients complained, were moved and we got stuck. Shoddy desk staff, horrible customer service, I would think corporate would admonish those responsible for treating there customers so poorly. Spend your big bucks elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyWe've stayed there many times and we've always had issues
We've stayed there many times and we've always had issues with our bill (extra charges, incorrectly charged items etc). My wife and I always rely on American Express to handle our disputes with hotels (when we have them). We booked a 5 day get away with our kids and they cancelled our reservations because we've had Amex dispute charges more than twice (and most we were ruled in favor). WARNING - do not do it because you will be put on a black list. They don't care for returning customers. Marram right in Montauk is a much better option. People there are wonderful and the service is top notch. Also, walking distance to more food and bars.

We loved our experience at Scarpetta beach next door to gurneys. Avery and Rosalitta were incredible. However, I am sad to say that we attempted to wait in line for the bar at Gurney's next door and had the most hostile and negative experience I've ever had with the door/bar men there. We were a group of 4 girls waiting in line and they threatened to kick us out unwarranted and told us how terrible the bar was inside and insulted the nice staff we had at Scarletta beach restaurant for no reason. Very disappointing from gurneys and I will not be returning there.
