Been trying to get reservations to this place for month and
Been trying to get reservations to this place for month and finally got an opening. The set up is not the typical dining as you would expect. Each session set in different parts of the venue, which I appreciated. The food was very authentic Japanese flavors, which I appreciated. Every dish was very thoughtful and delicious. When doing a lot of courses I usually can't finish when we get towards the end but every plate was light so I got to the finish line without feeling super stuff. The chef was very meticulous and the food was perfection. The areas where they loss a star was in the service. The staff was all very nice but there was mishaps along the way which caused service to be not seamless. I had to ask for my sake order twice, One of the dessert was given to us incorrectly and we had to fetch someone for our check. But if you are going for just food alone.. 5 stars
Be the first to ReplyHansei x JACCC was a wild theatrical dining journey.
Upon entrance, the storytelling of Chef Ono's inspiration starts by a walkthrough tour of the Japanese Gardens and the history of Japanese first generation immigrants unfolds. (Of which you'll have to visit to get the in-person explanation so I don't spoil it!) We were seated facing the idyllic gardens for our first course appetizers. Their libations were personally selected by Chris Ono and each sake represents a prefecture in Japan along with this dope last batch of beer with packaging that showcases Little Tokyo. (Souvenir anyone?)Of the 3 appetizers, my favorite was by far the pate ball. Again, without spoiling the dish, I would just say it's the perfect bite of pate - rich and velvety paired with a crunchy texture. Then we were escorted indoors where Chef Ono, himself, served us 3 more courses. A sublime Japanese American take on the tostada, a wonderful sashimi dish with some of the best homemade dashi broth I've had and finally the wagyu course. From the main course, we were then moved over to a hybrid indoor/outdoor space for the final dessert course. There was a lot of TLC in developing a traditional Japanese cuisine melded with JA influences, a truly unique dining experience. I've learned new ingredients to try with traditional recipes! Really forces me to think outside of the box.Recommend booking this before it sells out since most of the limited spots in Sept are already fully reserved.
