Restaurant good but avoid the bar
Was ok experience. Steak was good and service in restaurant was good. Sides very small and very expensive for the portion size. The reason this review isn’t higher is because we decided to go for a drink I’m the bar before. The bar is ok but it’s very crowded and noisy and it’s full of drunk City people. It’s not the nicest place to enjoy a drink.

Forget the pretenders, still the best steak in London 13 years after I first visited the chain. Staff were top drawer. Chateaubriand with bernaise sauce amazing as usual. Keep it up all and thanks for looking after us.
Be the first to ReplyTreat from son
I had never eaten here before but my son booked it as we were at St Paul’s for evensong. My son has eaten here several times so was confident I’d enjoy the experience. Wonderful greeting on entering, coats placed in the cloakroom and shown to our table. The room reminded me of a corporate dining room but the atmosphere was amazing. Waiter was very attentive and brought our aperitif choices quickly rapidly followed by our first course. I would have liked a little space between the two but it was ok. The food was excellent, steak cooked to perfection and a wonderful selection of side dishes. The marrow gravy is to die for. Opted for cheese and it was a very good choice. I would willingly eat here again!
Be the first to ReplyHighly delicious
Highly delicious at each step of the way. Mackerel starter might not sound terribly exciting, but it is here: flavoursome, fleshy and glazed in incredibly tasty sauce. The sea bream main is equally good: incredibly tender and cooked just right. Beer is a little pricey but still commendable. Service is also very good. A little on the expensive side but great to try out as a treat.

An absolutely brilliant experience from beginning to end. Crab on toast was delicious as was potted bacon and beef starter. We both had the surf and turf which was cooked to perfection and the lobster was so tender. Just about room for a chocolate anglaise pudding. Drinks were spot on, gimlet, odesa punch and a dessert wine. Top class service from all the staff. Honestly cannot say enough nice things about it.
Be the first to ReplyGood Food, Excellent Service
I came here for dinner with work friends and we had a nice time – the food was very good and the service was excellent. We had a variety of appetizers as well as steaks: don’t pass up getting the maple bacon to go with your steak (the bacon order is enough for two). If you walk out of here hungry, something is wrong!
Be the first to ReplyGreat for steak (and fish!)
As usual, excellent service (even seated us an hour before our booked time) and delicious food. I had the monkfish, my partner had the fillet steak, we also had beef dripping fries, buttered greens and creamed spinach. All yummy.

The Hawksmoor doesn’t think it’s necessary to have hot water in their bathrooms. Or maybe they’re just too cheap (ironic, really, given the shameful pricing)? Assumedly this means staff, as well as customers, can’t wash their hands properly after going to the bathroom. And does it mean the plates aren’t cleaned properly too? I don’t know; but no hot water is a red flag to me. I can’t imagine many people want filthy hands all over their food. So I suggest going elsewhere for your steak; to a restaurant where they care about the health of the people who come in. Disgusting.
Be the first to ReplyTeam Xmas do / Private dining / Excellent food!
We were here last night for a work xmas do in the private dining room. Have visited before, so had a base level of expectation, and it was more of the same - a fantastic evening. The room itself is very spacious, can sit up to 22 people I think. We were a few short, and on the day had drop outs due to illness / transport issues, but it didn't feel empty. We were hosted by Jake, who was brilliant from start to finish, answered questions from everyone on food, helped with drinks choices, all round good host. Food was excellent, drinks choices were great. Only build I would have is that the room needs some background music to help with the ambience, but again, Jake went and got a bluetooth speaker for us so we could then link that up. Would highly recommend.

Have been to London a few times now and had not experienced a Sunday Roast. What a treat! The food and the service was excellent. Definitely a must do!

Very friendly staff, always smiling and chatting to you. Really made to feel very welcome. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and was very clean and very well presented. As for the food. It was amazing from starter to dessert. Couldn't fault a thing On a Monday night you can take your own wine for a corkage charge of £5. They give you an ice bucket and top your glass up as needed. We was asked if it was a special occasion and was given a glass of champagne on the house. Lovely touches Would 100% recommend the Hawksmoor

I can't express how great my meal was at this wonderful steakhouse. Everything cooked to perfection. The staff were all amazing and we can't wait to see Angelo and his team again. Topnotch all round.

We dined at Guildhall for my father in laws surprise 60th, in the private dining room. The lead up to the event couldn't have been easier, they staff were able to change menu items and customise things so it was a really special night! The staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food is next level - it really was a dream dinner! Couldn't recommend them highly enough - they made it such a special night!

Delicious food, great service, was gifted some free items for my son's birthday, a bit pricey but worth it.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dinner… Friendly and amazing service
Just wanted to leave a review for a lovely dinner had just now. To close off the week, I decided to treat myself for a steak… and where better than Hawksmoor (addicted to Shakey Petes and their creamed spinach). Food and drinks were up to Hawksmoor’s usual high standards as always. I just wanted to give a shout out to Vero (Veronika) who made the evening very memorable. I was dining alone and Vero would check in on me regularly. She recommended the new cheesecake (I’m a sticky toffee pudding fan but I’m glad she convinced me… lighter and more refreshing for hot days like today!). She even took some time out to chat to me about her time at Hawksmoor and their various restaurants across London. Thank you Vero for the company, and I’ll see you all at Hawksmoor Guildhall again soon.
Be the first to ReplyHave a Caesar Salad!
Good service, a tasteful setting and fantastic food! The Caesar Salad (with anchovies) deserves a special mention as it was stunning! I had the ribeye for main with chips which was very good too.
Be the first to ReplyBone marrow to die for!
We were a party of 7. Everything we had was great. The bone marrow was exceptional. We had a very hefty bill, but with Champagne at £72 a bottle and wonderful sherry, plus all the other alcohol, it bumped up the price. There were a couple of Chateaubriands, a fillet and a ribeye, et al and we were all very happy. We wanted rare and it came rare! Others ordered as they wished and they were not disappointed. A particular mention to Emily, the sommelier, who is absolutely superb. I think we'll all be back again, but it's not cheap just make it a special occasion and it will be worth every penny. Our waitress I felt had not been well trained. I learned that she had only been there a few weeks and I feel she was just finding her way. At first I thought she was not very good, but on learning her situation, I actually felt sorry for her. It must have been stressful for her as it was very busy. Yes, it's rather noisy, but so too were we, haha.
Be the first to ReplyService Charge
The service charge price was crazy!! We went for dinner with my friends and there were 6 of us. The service charge was 44£ !! For an average customer service this price was crazy!! And it was written optional but they charged us anyway.
Be the first to ReplyLovely steakhouse.
Excellent steaks. Fast slick service. Restaurant was pretty much full too. Side dishes are equal quality. Would go back for sure.

Went for a Team lunch a week ago. Food was amazing and service was fabulous! A real gem! Definitely going back soon. A very big thank you to the Team at Hawksmoor.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding steaks served by engaging staff
The dining room is downstairs and a surprisingly large space, wood panelled and perhaps because of that the sound levels are high. But the tables are well spaced and one never feels crowded, and the ambience is ;bustling' rather than 'noisy'.
Although there is an excellent selection of starters we opted to move straight to the main event which, at Hawksmoor, is inevitably the steaks. I have travelled a lot in the US and have often eaten at 'legendary' US steak-houses but my 400g sirloin (rare) was as good as, or better, than the best I had in the US. Beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked, and completely delicious. A good steak is a thing of beauty and this was, without question, a good steak - a very good steak.
Accompaniments were also excellent - the beef-dripping fries were crisp and full of flavour, the creamed spinach rich and tasty, the buttered greens al dente.
Desserts did not disappoint - I opted for the cheese selection, with the suggested Oloroso as an accompaniment. my friends the rhubarb pavlova and the "Ambassadeur" - a nut related concoction. Both averred that they were more than happy with what was presented - and their plates pleased the eye as well as the palate.
The staff were delightful - well-informed, attentive without being pushy, engaging and charming - a credit to the restaurant.
So why only four stars, rather than five? It's because of the wine prices, I am afraid. The selection on offer is impressive but the prices are, candidly, on the optimistic side. The bottle of 2018 Corbieres was charged at £49 and that is rather galling when one can buy it at a decent wine merchant for a tenner. It was a nice wine, for sure but very much at the cheaper end of the list, where prices rose quite steeply from ~50 per bottle to dizzying heights.
Perhaps I am carping, because it was a splendid meal, in very agreeable surroundings, with extremely welcoming and competent staff - just be prepared to shell out for the vino :-)
Brilliant lunch
Another visit to this brilliant restaurant.
Table for seven at lunchtime.
A couple of beers in the bar first.
Great service and great food.
All the steaks were cooked to perfection, and served at the same time.
Finished with a glass of port.
Reliable, mouthwatering steaks
A couple of sirloin steaks with chips and spinach, washed down with a full bodied glass of red wine for lunch.
I’m thinking I could do it all again for dinner.
No frills reliable steak restaurant.
Since Hawksmoor first rolled out it’s restaurants in London the competition for steak-focused restaurants has developed considerably but I find the offering here is still consistently in the top tier. Had a lovely rib eye steak at a business lunch, complimented by an enormous wine list and attentive waiting staff.
What sets this place apart from Goodmans is a better range of sides which personally I find essential to enjoying a steak. Fine hand cut chips (for someone who prefers French fries), creamed spinach and a mac and cheese were rather good.
Small hangup was the ketchup wasn’t Heinz and lacked flavour. On the whole very good and not badly priced.
Sunday lunch
I used to visit the very 1st hawkesmoor in Spittlefields before they became a chain.
Always an exquisite experience & lived up to the quality of their claims on every level.
Sadly when I visited the guildhall yesterday it was a very different experience. The place resembled a canteen & was very noisy. We weren't inspired, but continued to order after being very kindly accommodated in a quieter corner by the helpful staff. Lunch ordered, our plates were brought up almost immediately, further adding to the canteen feel. I tried everything in the plate & when asked by our waiter if all was ok, I was honest & Said that we were both disatisfied with the content. He very graciously spoke to the chef & our bill was waived, but as we didn't go out to not pay but to enjoy a relaxed quality lunch, we were most disappointed. When restaurants expand so much this quite often happens, quality not quantity cones to mind.
Staff were optimum though, i hasten to add
