Hogarths Hotel Solihull Reviews from The Last Year
Standards have slipped for afternoon tea
Afternoon Tea. We have been here for the last 3 years for our get together and this year it was terrible. This place has changed the food was not as good and this was demonstrated by the tables that had lots of leftover food left from previous diners. The service was almost non existent and the worst part was the noisy building work above our head. 3 times we asked if the work could halt as it was very loud and making walls shake and 2 separate managers told us it would stop and it did not. This standard of hotel should have had alternative arrangements in place for diners to sit in another room or the restaurant. We will not be going back next year this establishment has lost our business.
Excellent staff
My friend and I arrived to have an afternoon cuppa in the hotel ,we like the ambiance and the peaceful surroundings. But what was exemplary was the staff service and friendliest of them all from coming in feeling welcome to being served drinks . Thank you
Work & family time
Had a lovely stay in this dog friendly hotel. Large comfortable bedroom with patio doors for ease. My husband is disabled and there was a convenient lift to bring him down to his room. Daisy the Spreagle enjoyed her stay and the goodie bag of treats. On the first evening I had dinner with colleagues in the restaurant and food and service was very good especially the crispy feta. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice in the buffet section as well as warm food from a menu. Over the three days we spent time outside enjoying a drink and coffee in reception. The riding stables next door have a large secure paddock for doggie exercise which I recommend also.
Mouldy food
I stayed at the hotel on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th July, and on Wednesday morning was served a bacon sandwich with mould, unfortunately I had eaten some of the bread before noticing it! When I raised this with staff, they were very apologetic and asked if I wanted another sandwich. To be honest surprised me as why would I want more food considering the concerns I had just raised. Eating mould including allergic reactions and the latest e-coli scare has highlighted the need for food safety, and their last inspection rated food safety as Generally satisfactory, this does not seem the case. Considering that this is basic food safety and hygiene it makes me question what standard the rest of the food was I ate at your hotel? I also had breakfast on Monday, Avocado on Toast, and during the day I had an upset stomach, which I was not sure of the cause, but after this morning’s breakfast it’s a possibility it may have been your food. In respect of how my complaint was dealt with, staff were very apologetic but did not seem to understand the implications or seriousness of what I was telling them. I felt nauseous, which I am not if it is the thought of what I may have eaten, from the food itself or both. As the staff didn't appear to be concerned with the issue I had raised, I contacted the hotel directly on Wednesday via their website - which they haven't responded to. Overall, a great looking place, good rooms and location but their food hygiene and how guests concerns are treated is very poor.
A high quality hotel
The Hogarth hotel is ideally placed to explore the many plases of intersst around Warwickshire and Birmingham. The hotel itself is situated in lovely well maintained grounds. The room was well appointed and had everything you would expect from a hotel of this quality. Staff throughout were attentive and keen to ensure that out stay was problem free - which it was. Breakfast on each day was very good, great choice ot items - overlooking the gardens. Eating in restaurant on the Sunday night was a joy - great food and great service. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.
Hogarth's gave us a perfect day
We had our wedding and reception at Hogarth's, Laura and Jess were absolutely fantastic from the pre wedding meetings through to the day its self, the staff, the grounds, the food and the room were perfect, we had a brilliant day and can not thank the whole team enough, nothing was to much trouble and we were looked after with respect and consideration. thank you Hogarth's we will be back very soon. Gary and Nicola
Beautiful hotel but noisy stay
Friendly, helpful and professional staff. Beautiful garden area. The food was very tasty indeed. Impressed very much. Unfortunately the noise of noisy pipes every 40minutes or so affected my sleep. A sleepless night which ruined the experience.
Beautiful Baby Shiwer
We held my daughter’s Baby Shower in the Board room on Sunday afternoon. It was just perfect. The room was beautifully laid out, and the staff so helpful. They couldn’t have done any more to look after us. The afternoon tea was lovely, with endless coffee and tea. I couldn’t fault it. It all felt very special. Just what I’d hoped for.
Wonderful afternoon tea in the woods
I had afternoon tea in the woods for my baby shower. The team were brilliant and had thought of every little detail, nothing was too much for them. We were a group of 19 with a variety of dietary requirements which were all catered for. The setting was beautiful and the afternoon tea and food was delicious.
Perfection!
We had our Wedding Breakfast last Thursday 6th June in the Boardroom at Hogarths and it was absolutely fabulous. The food was amazing and the service first class. Jess and her team couldn’t do enough for us and they made us and our guests feel truly special! Laura, who was our event planner was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. She guided us through all the planning so personally and professionally. To say it was the ‘perfect’ day is an understatement and we can’t recommend Hogarths highly enough. Thank you Laura, Jess and the Team you did us proud. Steve & Debbie xx
The Perfect 50th lunch
I had my 50th Birthday Lunch at Hogarths in the board room for 15 of my closest family & friends. From the minute we arrived it couldn’t have been more perfect. The room was set out beautifully with fresh flowers, the staff were so friendly, helpful & attentive & the food was just amazing. Every single one of my guests commented on how amazing the afternoon was. When is was time to sing happy birthday the managers came in and were dancing with us all. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to hogarths again whether it’s for an event, a meal in the restaurant or even a drink at the bar - every aspect was 10/10. Thank you Hogarths & staff for making my day very special x
What a comfy bed!
The bed was the most amazing sleep I've had in a hotel in a long time - the combination of the sheets, pillows, duvet and mattress was glorious! Really comfortable, great shower, lovely bar area and very friendly staff. Stayed for work and would definitely recommend!
Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. Luxurious, but missing the basics.
Beautiful hotel in beautiful setting. Luxurious, but missing the basics. We stayed in superior room, it was lovely, a nice size, very comfortable, beautifully decorated, nice views of the garden, albeit covered by scaffolding during our visit. Easy to check in, and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We did notice almost immediately the lack of a fridge. So queried this and was told they need to be requested ahead of time. That seemed a little odd to us. There was a very large illuminated decorative cabinet with water and an ice bucket, but no ice machine to be found anywhere. I’m not sure why they’d prioritise this illuminated cabinet over something more functional like a fridge! For dinner we wanted to order room service but there was no menu in the room, so we went down to reception to be told to do it on the tablet in the room, turns out we didn’t have one. The receptionist said that’s probably because it’s broken, they don’t always work, and she rounded up some menus for us to take up to our room. A few hours later we ordered food to the room, and were told it’d take around 30 minutes. An hour later my husband goes down to enquire and told “sorry, the order didn’t get put through, we’ll do it now and prioritise it”. They also comped 50% for the inconvenience. The food did arrive very quickly after the second order, but arrived with no salt & pepper, and my husband got a dirty napkin. My husband opted for fish and chips which was very oily. I opted for chicken flatbread which was very tasty, and the chips that came with it were the clear winner of both meals. A few other oddities about the room: there are no plug sockets or USB charging points next to the bed, which whilst only mildly inconvenient for me not to have my devices next to me, could prove wildly more than inconvenient if you rely on powered medical equipment whilst sleeping. There’s nowhere to hang a coat that isn’t wardrobe - which means you can’t hang them when wet, and it’s in England so there’s always potential for rain, and we did experience this inconvenience! There was no soap in the bathroom, we had to use shower gel to wash our hands. The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, weren’t all the same brand. It was a nice touch with anti-fog section of mirror, though no good if you’re shorter than 5’5! It is a dog friendly hotel with dedicated dog-dining room so furry friends can join for dinner/ breakfast and plenty of room for them to run off-lead. We also spotted a secure dog run, but didn’t use this ourselves. Owners do have to sign a “good behaviour” agreement, which is brilliant in theory, but not so good when it’s not enforced, sadly the dog in the room next to us was quite noisy throughout the night, so we didn’t get the best night sleep. Which was a shame as the bed was very comfortable and the pillows fluffed to perfection! It would have been a nice touch to have some towels for dogs available if it’s raining out since they specify not to use the human towels on dogs, which is fair but if, like us, you didn’t have a towel with you (we left ours at crufts!), there’s no way to dry off the dog! It did say in the welcome there were dog treats in the room but we didn’t find them. Breakfast was another miss for us. There was no sugar tongs in the open sugar bowl so dread to think how many fingers have been in that. I ordered smashed avocado on toast and my husband ordered eggs royale. My plate arrived with a hair on it, and eggs more akin to very hard boiled so I sent it back. I think it was a manager that I asked and he didn’t offer an apology, just took my plate with a nod of the head. My husbands eggs were also overcooked, so we summised they are probably cooked earlier and left on a hot plate, which obviously results in overcooking. My second plate of food was redeemed and came with an apology from the manager but it meant I didn’t eat with my husband, rather 10 minutes after he had finished. When checking out I was asked about my stay so gave them our feedback, and they took it well, which I was happy about, as often staff are trained to ask this but not really care. I got the impression they really did care, but I’m not sure they agreed it wasn’t usual practice to have to ask for a fridge! All of the little things in isolation we likely wouldn’t have noticed, but they all added up to something being not quite right. It feels as if they’ve put in all the “extras” of being a beautiful luxury hotel but haven’t yet mastered the basics. If I went in expecting it to be a little bit odd, I’d have enjoyed my stay. So I would return, but if I did it would be with altered expectations!
An excellent afternoon tea experience
I took my daughter and granddaughter to Hogarth's for a birthday afternoon tea. It was an all round excellent experience. We were greeted warmly and given a secluded window table. The options were clearly explained by a very personable waitress who remained attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious l, freshly prepare, imaginative and tastefully presented. The waitress had noted the birthday and it was marked with a decorated plate of delicacies.
Perfect Christmas Stay
We checked in Christmas Eve with our dog Maisie for 2 nights together with mum, step-dad and his sister. We decided we wanted to have a Christmas with no cooking and a couple of days being looked after and a time to chill. Christmas Eve was a 3 course meal, breakfast both mornings and a 3 course Christmas Day meal. We booked a few months prior and pre booked our food orders prior to arriving. Laura Kembery was our contact who regularly kept in touch with us and was excellent with her communication. The food was superb and the staff amazing who went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel is a fantastic place to stay and we wouldn’t hesitate in spending another Christmas here. Our room was a nice size and very clean throughout. We had a deluxe room overlooking the gardens as requested making to easy for us to take our dog out. Special mention to both Craig and Wayne who were brilliant throughout our stay.
Xmas break 2023
Spent our Xmas this year at Hogarths . Had the most wonderful time. Service, food, facilities were second to none. The staff were so pleasant and so well organised and nothing was too much trouble . They looked after us from start to finish. Have spent Xmas there twice before but this was the best ever. Wonderful hotel and is very local to us so we do use this on a regular basis. Easy topark, great atmosphere so what more could you want. Well done to you all.
Excellent Christmas Stay
This was our third Christmas spent at Hogarths and this time we stayed 8 nights. We had a wonderful Christmas stay, with excellent service for our Christmas Day and Boxing Day lunches. We found Laura and Lee very helpful, friendly and attentive, always. The food was consistent with Hogarths high standards. We will definitely be staying again.
Party for family and friends
We hired the Board Room for a 50th Wedding Anniversary party. It was just perfect, food excellent, service exceptional, staff incredibly helpful especially Tash who was at hand for all our requests. The afternoon was booked through Debbie Murray who could not have been more helpful, and proffesional she helped us have the perfect day for us all . 5* +++ would highly recommend!
Left us with a bad taste
The service charge left a bad taste. We had been given a thoughtful gift of afternoon tea. When we came to leave we were asked to pay an enforced £6.50 service charge. As this was a gift I wasn’t expecting to have to pay for some of it myself. If they are so desperate for the extra money just add it into the cost of the afternoon tea.
Excellent 30th birthday party
We booked our daughter’s 30th birthday party via Louise in events. Louise was extremely helpful in arranging the party and communication was good. On the night the team working the event were extremely helpful and professional .Initllaly the room was not laid out as we had requested, but the staff soon remedied this and the room was set to our liking .Throughout the night Jake was attentive and made sure all was running well, other members of staff were all excellent.Could not have been better .

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.

So glad I came across this app :)

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??
Tune into NBC News - Top Story Tonight 7:40p ET
Let’s go. Get more people placing bids!
I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
