The best location in the heart of London. Cozy atmosphere, beautiful design and absolutely fantastic food! We celebrated the 8th of March wonderfully. I recommend highly.
Be the first to ReplyNice food- shame about the customer service and dirty toilets
Came here with my family for a small celebration. When we sat down at the table, there was a dirty knife and spoon on the floor. Service was very slow, and one meal came in two parts AFTER most people had eaten already. One of us waited for a coffee that just never came, so we cancelled it. Staff (except the man with the brown hair in a bun) seemed less than enthusiastic and unavailable. Food was lovely although not warm enough. One dish was just tomatoes and hard avocado and that cost ยฃ10, it couldnโt be eaten. Decor inside was nice EXCEPT for the toilets which literally had a pair of womenโs knickers poking out of the sani-bin and lots of used tissues on the side. Iโve seen cleaner toilets after a festival in a park. Iโve been to many โupmarketโ vegan restaurants but this one isnโt cutting it. Wouldnโt visit again or recommend.

Upon arriving, I must say, the lighting was perfect. Not too dim, not too bright. My eyes were incredibly comfortable. The choice of food was more than adequate for my elitist palette and I inhaled almost the entire lot, leaving only a few crumbs for the amazing, incredible and beautiful woman sat opposite me. Being a Dr, I was intelligent enough to follow this food order up with desserts and I was not disappointed. My waistline however was, as I walked out at least 5 stone heavier after demolishing all 3 plates. Finally, I took it upon myself to inspect the toilets as this is a crucial area of my Ultimate review of a place. It was quite the experience and I didn't hesitate to boast about this to my lady friend who rushed off soon after to bear witness to such a unique toilet experience. She was overwhelmed, over stimulated, and had to lie down soon after. All in all, it was amazing and I can't wait to go again and again. The decor, the lighting, the food, the toilet, wow. Bravo and well done.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing food in a beautiful location
We ordered the bread and butter and the tofu. All dishes were amazing and staff was super friendly. Would definitely recommend! Make sure to make a reservation though to avoid disappointment as they are popular. :)
Be the first to ReplyA fantastic experience in Veganism
Really enjoyed the food, ambience, service and relaxing nature of this dedicated Vegan restaurant and as such highly recommend - you will not be disappointed and the cocktails add that sparkle.
Be the first to ReplyI'm not even vegan, but this place was so good!
No, I'm not vegan. Just thought I'd check this place out after a business trip to London. It was surprisingly so good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, but very 'Knightbridge'
Having read great reviews and being mainly vegan we decided to come for dinner while on a day trip to London. Firstly the negatives - it's Knightsbridge (and part of an upmarket complex called Urban Retreat ( I guess the idea is you can retreat here after you have exhausted yourself shopping at Harrods round the corner). The room feels like it's part of something else and not a restaurant in its own right and I have to say it's lacking in atmosphere (with annoying 'banging' tunes not helping). Also you can easily end up spending over ยฃ100 for two with drinks if your hungry as the portions are very small. On to the positives - we started with the purple potato croquettes which were delicious - crispy on the outside and soft inside - very tasty and impressive technique. Equally good was the risotto which we both had. Loads of truffle and serious umami going on. However I had to eat mine very slowly as it was so tiny ( the size of a starter - only ยฃ17.50). I then had the chips with black truffle mayo to get some carbs in me - so I didn't leave the place feeling hungry. They were indeed very good chips. We shared the chocolate delice for desert - again very classy. So to be fair - there is real talent here in the kitchen for sure - all 3 courses were excellent, which is rare in my experience and the service was very competent and friendly. Would we come back? Probably not, which is a shame, but the portion sizes and the affluent feel of the setting means we will be going elsewhere for our 'plant based' dinner next time we are in London.
Be the first to ReplyAwful
My friends and I came here for a celebration. We were all really excited to try the food, having heard good things. However when we arrived (it was a Saturday evening) we waited for two hours to receive our starters. In the meantime, no one bothered to come to us and ask for our drink order (despite the fact that the restaurant was not overcrowded and there were quite a few wait staff) - after half an hour we had to ask ourselves. No one attempted to explain the wait time. When we asked we were told (rather rudely) that the food was coming - which it wasnโt. For these kinds of prices thatโs bonkers. When the food did arrive it was below average. My risotto was cold and very greasy. The others had some kind of deep fried mushrooms (buffalo wings) and we all left feeling very queasy from the grease. When we pushed we managed to get the food taken off the bill, but they werenโt happy about it. Avoid at all costs!
Be the first to ReplyEmpty restaurant
We arrived without a reservation, to an empty restaurant at 1 pm. We were told we couldnโt be seated because the internet was down and we were turned away.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful anniversary meal
My wife and I recently ate at Holy Carrot for our first wedding anniversary and it was excellent. The staff were very attentive and helpful, we did not have to wait long for food or drinks and there was always a staff member around to ask for help when needed. The cocktail menu is very interesting with some unique combinations so we tried a few of those which were very good. We also appreciated the bar manager re-opening his bar for us towards the end of the day so we could have another drink even though he had already closed for the day. We went on a Sunday so they were serving the brunch menu, but it is actually a nice mix of stuff including a few of their usual evening main courses and starters and a Sunday roast. We tried the calamari and green vegetable rolls to start, both of which were excellent. They had really interesting flavours and textures and were a nice vegan take on the dishes. For our main course we both had the roast which was incredible. Every element of it had been cooked perfectly and had so much flavour. The truffled cauliflower cheese, vegan Yorkshire pudding, mushroom and lentil dish and the jus were particular highlights. When we ordered dessert, the restaurant also kindly gave us a couple of complimentary small cakes on a plate with an anniversary message written on it in chocolate, which was a really nice touch. We also had the apple pie for dessert which had a beautiful crunchy apple crumble top and the apple filling was flavoured really well. The restaurant is quite expensive but not outrageously so for Knightsbridge and the portions are decent. It is also in a lovely setting with the room decorated beautifully. The dishes are flavoursome and inventive and the staff were great. We had a lovely anniversary meal here and would highly recommend the restaurant.

Most amazing Vegan food, well worth a visit. Friendly staff especially the tall one, very attentive. Friends loved it and would highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food, superb service, lovely place
I went here for my birthday this week and it was a superb evening. The staff were outstanding - Kate, Julia, Sara and the whole team. Kate went out of her way to make it special and ensure we had everything we wanted/needed. She was warm and friendly. The food was incredible, as I knew it would be. Most of my friends aren't vegan and said it was amazing. They loved it and some already said they must go back. We had the sharing menu which I highly recommend in order to try lots of things. There were 12 of us and there was plenty of food. We weren't left hungry! And the chefs are such artists here! Such creativity! The environment is lovely - a cute, comfortable restaurant where the tables are not crammed in. Lots of space to breath and high ceilings. Would definitely recommend and go back there. Thank you for an awesome birthday!
Be the first to ReplyHoly Bar - Botanical cocktails ** Nathan's fantastic customer care
I discovered this place online after trying to find vegan afternoon tea. Sadly they are not serving afternoon tea at the moment but the Holy Bar Botanical cocktails sounded super interesting. We popped in, to have a look and we were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming Barman ( we later learned his name was Nathan) who invited us to pop back later and we could have a table for two, which we did. Nathan warmly greeted us the second time and took our orders throughout the evening with continuous warmth and attentiveness. All night I watched Nathan serving multiple people and doing various other tasks with continuous warmth and professionalism, he knew I was celebrating my birthday and even arranged a candle-lit slice of cake. I also tried the bar snack calamari which was tasty. Nathan really made this whole experience with his wonderful presence and attentiveness and we will definitely visit again.
Be the first to Replysorry not very 'holy'
Well, I have been wanting to try this place since it was raved about in all the magazines, so I eventually got to go, Big disappointment. Pros.. nice area, some dishes were very good. Cons .. 1/ service, was terrible. nobody greeted us, nobody came to check in to see how the food was, Plates taken away before we even finished, it was run by very uninterested staff, with zero personality. 2/ decor. It felt like I was eating in some department store cafe. this place is called holy carrot, not a single accent of orange to be seen which I thought was a missed opportunity. the connecting bar (the holy bar) at least had a vibe, It felt like 2 different people had designed it, actually it could have been done by some amateur 'changing rooms' team from the TV reality show. I mean it wasn't awful but it doesn't give you any urge to return. 3/ food, hit and miss, some dishes were outstanding.. the gazpacho tasted amazing, along with the sexy tofu, the crispy maki were tasteless and the calamari came with this cheap ketchup dip. The holy carrot juice was great along with the cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent plant-based restaurant that will disappoint even the most discerning palate.
Fabulous atmosphere. Delicious plates with a variety of pleasing tastes. Highly recommend the Sexy Tofu and Truffle Risotto. Vegans and Non- vegans alike will enjoy this dining experience. My only complaint is the bread used on my โ crab cakeโ sandwich. Tasted more like a hockey puck than a roll. Otherwise everything was great!!
Be the first to ReplyWonderful meal for veggie lovers.
Service was wonderful the bubbly waitress made both me and girlfriend laugh, was a perfect spot for our anniversary meal. Prices were really good value aswell!! The food was outstanding and the ice cream for dessert was a highlight.
Be the first to ReplyReally original food, spirited service, a unique delight
We stumbled onto this place without knowing a thing--just around the corner from Harrods--and were really pleased. All the (vegan) dishes were unique, healthy, fresh and very tasty; my Japanese wife said the vegetarian sushi was as good as anything she's had in her native Kyoto. And our waitress must have been the friendliest and most colorful soul in London. A cool and consistently unusual pleasure.
Be the first to ReplyWaste of money , and poor cocktails
The cocktails were well below average . It looks great on the website the presentation but the waitress had no idea how to replicate it. Poor Wouldnโt go again
Be the first to ReplyLove this place!
Love this place! Good price for Knightsbridge
The decor is beautiful and the food is delish. Highly recommend the afternoon tea and the sexy tofu
Fantastic Experience
My fiancรฉ and I spent our anniversary here, and we had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, and the waitress who served us, Hijia, was friendly and caring, making our experience even better.
Be the first to ReplyUnbelievable vegan lunch
I am not a vegan. I can honestly say not having meat on the menu meant absolutely no compromise in flavour or meal satisfaction. Everything that came out the kitchen looked amazing and the cocktails looked just as impressive. The Miso cake is a must! I have recommended this gem of a restaurant to everyone I know.
Be the first to ReplyA long wait for some okay food
My partner and I visited Holy Cow on a Saturday evening. We had made a reservation, but the restaurant didn't have a table ready for us when we arrived and we didn't end up being seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. This seemed to be a consistent problem: throughout the duration of our meal, there were customers who had made reservations standing around at the entrance waiting to be seated. I think the restaurant needs to make some changes to their booking policies, because there were clearly not enough tables for the number of bookings.
Once seated, we had a pleasant but not particularly remarkable meal. The smoked aubergine dish was good, but the vegan sushi selection lacked flavour. They had an extensive drinks menu, and we enjoyed some fun cocktails. The serving staff were friendly, but clearly very busy.
Overall, we had a rocky start to our meal, which did improve over the course of the evening, but I wouldn't go back.
Marvellous vegan food!
5/5 fabulous vegan food! Really interesting dishes. Enjoyed the maki, main course and stupendous desserts!
The afternoon tea also looked wonderful.
Must make reservation.
Bland food and carelesness.
Bland expensive sushi. Not at all like in the pictures you can find online. No seasoning. 28ยฃ for 12 pieces of sushi that nearly all tasted the same - like nothing. The waiter didnt seem interested. Also - we waited 50 minutes for our food. We ended up walking to a different place to continue eating.
Be the first to ReplyPretentious and bland
Great location, great hype but sadly lacking in delivery. The dish we were looking forward to ordering was not available the day we visited. The wrong dish arrived and the waiting staff did the โwaitingโ part of their role well when sorting the issue out. Each of the dishes we chose was bland - flavours blending into one homogenous averageness. Staff were rude and disinterested. Music was dominating and distracting. The whole operation is outclassed by a multitude of better plant based restaurant options. Try somewhere else instead.
