Very unique and cool diner. Great Rueben and old fashioned. Wait staff was very good and on it. Lots of neon signs and decorations.

Brunch on a busy Sunday morning. Sat at the bar and ordered french toast and my spouse an eggs with potato and toast. Being lactose intolerant we noticed possibly some cheese sauce on the potato. Asked if they might contain cheese, the answer was no but they would have a new plate made up. Sounds nice, but the wait was long. For the wait that meal was compensated for. Which was very nice.

Recently enjoyed a very nice breakfast. Very clean and service was great. They have a beautiful old bar which I will check out on my next visit to see our daughter in Detroit.

We went here for breakfast Mid May 2023. Great food for the both of us. Food took a long time coming but it wax great. Went back yesterday for lunch and the wires chicken roll up was very good. My burger on the other hand was horrible. When they say they can't cook a burger to order that kind of alerted me to trouble. Wanted Swiss cheese on it instead of American cheese. It also took a. Long time for the food to come up and tge place was near empty. My burger was like it was cooked the day before and they reheated it just for me. If that was Swiss cheese it was a kind I never had before. Looked just like fake American cheese. For the cost of $14 and an exrra $4 for fries, it is off the lunch/dinner menu. Beer was also not very cold. We might go back for breakfast sometime but they failed my burger test to see how a place is.

I had a seasonal drink; the spiked hot chocolate! Arrived warm with plenty of bourbon. My friends both had the Spanish coffee, and they enjoyed them. The biscuit (one biscuit) and gravy was just okay. Stingy with the gravy. It was Saturday, so it was crowded. Lot and street parking were full, we parked a block away.

When checking into my hotel I asked the bellman for a good recommendation for breakfast. Something local. He recommend this place. They open at 7:00am and my colleague and I were the first. Very nice staff and promptly served our coffee and water. I ordered the breakfast special and “grits” as I am from the south and wanted to try them. Food was very good and a lot. 2 eggs. Lots of hash browns and 4 sausage links. It was all very good. Grits were good but sweet and I am not use to that. I would recommend and yea it is a bar and the bar is open at 7:00am with most folks getting drinks. You noticed a lot of the night shift nurses coming in for breakfast and drinks so I read that as a great thing.

Loved the stacked with bacon BLT on toasted texas toast! The place was busy but service was good. Drinks were strong and priced right, you can't beat that! Parking was easy and we like this area of Midtown.

I had a great time, we sat outside underneath a huge Circus tent. The menu was American based, I ordered the O’ omelet with pancakes and whole wheat toast. My spouse ordered the chicken and waffles. The food was great! If sitting outside you have to go and draw your own water from the yellow igloo cooler if want a drink. If sitting outside your meal is brought to you in take out containers inside a brown grocery bag😃. The waitress who delivers the bag ask us the question. “Do you need anything else?” 🤣🥲🤣 She never comes back!🥲 Would I return sure.

Great breakfast! Prices were good, service was fast and friendly, easy parking. Lots of safe options - carry out, tent seating, spaced out indoor dining. We look forward to our next visit!
Be the first to ReplyHonest good breakfast
They are managing the pandemic well offering in restaurant and outdoor tent seating. The eggs, vegetables in omelette were fresh. Service was very good. The Bloody Mary was very good tasting. Personally, I am tired of all of the to go packaging, so presentation is lacking. I am sure it will be much better once full indoor service resumes.

The 1st time I had the Chicken Strips & Waffles. It was a large round waffle with 3 nice, crispy chicken tenders, but when I went back and ordered the Fish & Chips, I was disappointed. I was going to order a sandwich, but at $10 they didn't come with fries or any other side. The Fish & Chips were $12 and came with Tartar Sauce, Cole Slaw and Fries. First, tartar sauce should not be added as a side, it's a condiment. Next, there was 2 fork fulls of cole slaw in a jello shot cup, not enough to mention. The big issue was the entrée, 3 pieces of fish, the size of a credit card. I must say, the Bloody Mary was good, maybe a lil heavy on the Worch, but it packed a punch. I don't think I will go back.

Ate breakfast here. Tonnes of choices and great value for $. Service was fast and friendly. You know it's good when there is a Saturday morning lineup

Met my daughter here for bloody Mary’s and breakfast. I ordered a veggie omelette, and she ordered chicken and waffles. It was just ok. My toast was overdone with no butter, and my hashed browns were mediocre. Omelette was pretty good. My daughter’s meal was the same-kind of bland. However, bloody Mary’s were very tasty, and the coffee was good( I am a stickler about that!)
Prices were moderate, but I think next time we meet Downtown, we will consider another restaurant.
Delicious food, indifferent and unfriendly bar staff!
My friend and I visited this place for lunch, deciding to sit at the bar. Took several minutes for us to be greeted (we felt like we were invisible) and when we did, the bar staff was less then friendly. Mediocre pour of their drinks on the rocks! We did have the turkey Reuben and it was delicious. Loud and crowded environment. We were looking for a throw-back bar ....this wasn’t one of them.
Be the first to ReplyGreat breakfast, great eggs
I have mostly quit going out for breakfast...most places the eggs not only look like rubber fakes, they have zero taste. I am spoiled; our neighbor has chickens and most of the ones I eat are fresh outta their butts. (OK, cleaned and cooked, but only 1-2 days old). But Honest John's is sourcing their eggs from some place that has great tasting eggs. I had the Cass platter, my wife had chicken wings on a waffle. She loved the taste but thought the wings were a tad bit too salty.
