I have just had the worst experience at Houston's.
I was there with my husband and another couple. One of our friends has diabetes and he can only drink Coke Zero. he knows that some restaurants do not have it so he carries his own Coke Zero, and asks the place to get him some ice or a buck with ice to chill it for a little bit. at Houston's they not only refused to give him a bucket of ice but they harassed my friend from drinking his coke saying that they do not allow anything from outside. that brought me to a question about their $15 cork fee. how is that allowed and my friend could not enjoy his own coke? the staff, especially the management kept passing by our table asking him to put his coke zero down as if he was doing something illegal. needless to say that from a regular we became averse to this place and we'll never come back again nor recommend it.

Classy ambiance, always excellent service and great food. Menu is not too extensive, but it has a good variety for all tastes. I usually start with a Grapefruit Aperol Spritz (it is a great variation of the traditional Aperol Spritz), lots of flavor and very refreshing. For an appetizer I love their grilled artichokes (although they have a very short season) and if you like salmon, I highly recommend their smoked salmon appetizer. It is smoked in-house and it is wonderful. And for entree, my 2 favorite ones are: the ahi tuna salad with mango slaw and the grilled ruby trout. This location does not have outdoor seating, but if you want to sit outside by the intracoastal when weather is good, you should try their Pompano Beach location. They have a great deck.

I've reviewed Houston's North Miami Beach before, but our experience just keeps getting better and better so I had to review it again! I was just there on June 30th. We were so fortunate to have had KRISTINA as our server. Houston's...KEEP HER FOREVER!!! She was beyond amazing, fantastic, personable, friendly. And just incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering specific information and ingredients for some of the salads I was looking at as well as my husband. She helped me decide between two and really gave depth between both. My husband is sensitive to lactose and gluten and Kristina was ON IT! Made sure what he ordered would work with his restrictions but still be enjoyable! He had the ahi tuna salad, minus some seasonings but was still delish! I was contemplating the ribs as I had them on my last visit, but I’ve also never tried the asian noodle salad. When Kristina told me I can add the ribs to it’, as part of the pork option…SOLD! best of BOTH! The noodle salad SOOOO GOOD! I swear they shredded a whole rack of the succulent, awesome fall off the bone ribs in there! My now new FAVE! I was also so impressed, that in the middle of enjoying my lemon drop martini (also a suggestion from Kristina!), she came with an empty FROZEN glass and poured in my remaining cocktail. How classy (and refreshing) is that! Between that little touch, and the impeccable VIP service, that's the reason I keep coming back and encourage others to dine there as well! Keep up the awesome work, Houstons! And thank you KRISTINA for such an enjoyable and special dinner out! We look forward to seeing you again very soon!

Some friends asked me where I wanted to go to celebrate my birthday, of course the answer was Houston's. (Easy decision). We had a 9:00 pm reservation, we checked in and waited less than 5 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was Lindsay, and she was fabulous, very attentive, and friendly. She took our drink and appetizer orders. The appetizers we choose were deviled eggs and the artichoke spinach dip, which was fabulous. The spinach dip was very creamy, and the taste was exceptional. (I'm picky about spinach dip) One friend ordered salmon, one ordered ribs, Kevin ordered his burger, and I ordered the Hawaiian Rib Eye steak, which I had been craving all day. The salmon, the burger, and the ribs were as expected, delicious. My Hawaiian Rib eye steak was perfectly seasoned, I ordered it medium, and it was. Unfortunately, my steak was 40% fat. That was truly a disappointment. I ate what I could and left the fat. I called Lindsay over close to me and to ask her to show my plate to the chef and to tell him that he should have seen this steak was 40% fat and shame on him for even serving it. I told Lindsay I didn't want anything but to bring that to the attention of the chef. She said she understood and took the plate away. Very shortly after. Caroline, one of the managers, came over and apologized. She said she remembered us visiting the restaurant many times before, and she apologized again. She said she would take care of my meal and then apologize again. She asked if I wanted anything else. I told her no and that all is well. Kudos to Caroline and Lindsay for their professionalism and kindness.

Wouldn't have waited if I knew I was going to be holding my child the entire time and taking my food to go.

Staff and management is rude and with no customer service skills. We were 4 adults and a baby and initially they located us in a table. Then, management came to our table and required us to divide into two tables, requirement we rejected and therefore we had no option than to live the restaurant.

They now take on line reservations,which is relatively new...so even though no one was waiting for a table, hostess said 1 1/2 hour wait for a party of one. Suggested I go eat at the bar. Waited at bar for 15 minutes, until a seat opened, I was THEN informed by bartender, that there is a different wait list for the bar that is 4 parties long. So WHY didn't hostess tell me that or bartender that saw me looking for a seat, say something I am over this place.

Without intending any disrespect, I never really understood why there are normally always lines of patrons awaiting entrance to Houston's / Hillstone's restaurants. In my opinion everything about the experience there - the menu, the food, the service, the ambiance and the price point is always good, but nothing outstanding - certainly not a dining experience that should command the long wait times for a table that one finds there on a regular basis - which isn't helped by the fact that their restaurants generally don't accept reservations and won't add your party to the wait list until everyone who'll be dining with you has arrived. There are just too many alternative spots available, usually with no wait - but I digress... We arrived to this Houston's location at around 8 on a Sunday night. We checked in with the hostess and were told it'd be about an hour wait for a table for 2. We figured we'd order a cocktail and have a seat at the bar if something there became available in the meantime, but were informed that the bartenders here have their own check-in process and waitlist for customers hoping to sit at the bar. We put our names on that list as well, ordered a cocktail and by the time we'd finished, a few stools had opened up for us. I had the scottish salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes while my husband had the prime filet. Both our dishes were very good, and service from the bartender/servers was solid throughout our meals. One oddity about this restaurant is that it's right on the water with a view of the city in the background. One would think they'd take advantage of that, open the blinds and allow customers to enjoy that view, but on the night we came, the blinds were all kept closed.

However, the prices are way out of line for what you get. I ordered a $20 cheeseburger (my first mistake), when it came I looked at it and wondered how I would eat it. They serve it on a huge bun, lettuce, pickles, and a smattering of onions. I don't know anyone on the planet with a mouth large enough to eat the burger the way it is served. I had to use a knife and fork to eat a burger, which kind of defeats the purpose. That was annoying enough, but what really stuck in my craw was the check. I had a burger, my wife had a salad and we each had 2 drinks. It was $100. Really? for a burger, and a couple of weak drinks? Not going back.

The hostess told us the wait was 1hr and a half. We decided to wait. After about 50 minutes, we asked how much longer they thought the wait would be and they were counting minutes. They were more concerned about sticking to having us wait the hour and a half and not actually seating us. Over 12 parties were sat before us when they arrived after. Our kids behaved extremely well while having them wait around. At the hour and 30 mark, I went back and asked how much longer. She said a couple more moments and then had a manager come ask us if we wanted fries for the kids. I replied no Ty, but how much longer to be seated? The manager replied "if you can please have your children not be so loud or you can step outside." I must repeat our kids were not fussing or loud. It was so evident they just did not want us there with kids. They replied with "we haven't sat you because you have a stroller." she could have kindly asked us if we mind leaving it in the car but again their concern was to scare us away with the wait time. After telling her she was extremely rude for even saying the loud comment about a BABY!! Not even a toddler, I asked her for her full name. Her reply was "I'm going to have to ask you to leave!!!" After we waited 90 minutes with kids!!!! I don't know who raised these humans but they did an awful job! We proceeded to ask for other managers and she called the cops on us. She called the cops on two parent with two babies who were upset at the way she was treating us. She later kept repeating she just needed us to leave. The cops never arrived Ofcourse because there was nothing they can do about two civilized human beings asking about a wait time. Hillstone restaurant group, do better!!! Train your employees to be kind. Hire people who truly want your business to succeed. And to the GM who treated us this way, Sydney Edelstein! It starts at home!! I'm sure your mother tried her best with you, but her best barely scratched the surface to raise a decent human. You are miserable!

I have always had wonderful experiences at Houston’s, food and service. Unfortunately today and unacceptable way a receptionist treated me very badly and in an extremely racist and rude way. To finish dramatically, we found a worm on our table, see the attached photo. Because of this I will never return to this restaurant where I have been treated so well in the past.

They treat you like really badly . We were 2 families: 4 adults and 4 kids. We asked for 2 tables for each family of 4 people and the manager said that she cant let us get 2 tables. Then i asked for my family 4 people and she said the same. That we need to leave, because we are 8, but i asked for my family, 4 people, and she answered the same, this is the second time that happens this. Never coming back to this place!

Houston's is a place you should definitely get reservations to before you decide to go here especially around dinner. The staff is friendly and remember peoples faces I was really impressed due to how many people were there, the servers are really nice and quick with the service. The food is amazing! The roasted peppers caught me off guard I thought they would be warm they were cold! They were good though The steak was cooked perfectly! The inside is very upscale and modern it's pretty! I would definitely recommend this place if you have the time and extra money to spend!

I'm a huge fan of Houston's Restaurants and have been to many different locations. The food was impeccable as always, and the server was super nice (even a little embarrassed about the hostess behavior). But the hostess, Evan, was a jerk! We knew about the police for seating and for that reason made a reservation for two tables. Boy did that guy had a field day on the rudeness. When we got there and where thinking how to divide the tables, it didn't take us 5 minutes and the guy told us 3 times that we had to seat. On the third, already seated, I had to be just as rude. Tree kids on the other table, sitting, eating, behaving, at the end of the lunch a little girl came and sat at her moms lap just to adjust the wifi, and he did everything but scream at us. Extremely rude for no reason at all.

My family recently purchased a condo in North Miami Beach, right next door to where Houston’s is. (How convenient is that! Hehe) So when we go, we have the privilege of a five minute walk instead of driving and fighting for parking! We LOVE Houston’s and always make sure we have one of our dinner’s out there! (FYI make sure you make a reservation WELL in advance!). Last night was our Houston’s night. We had a 6:15pm reservation. We arrived right at 6:15 and we were seated within 5 minutes. Dinner and our whole experience was SPOT ON and soooo good!! I’ve cycled through most of the menu but somehow I have never ordered the ribs. “Knife and fork” as they call it. OMG!!! They’re not kidding!! No messy hands for me! Unless you like eating ribs that way! They were beyond so succulent and delicious! So soft and tender, falling right off the bone with my fork. Didn’t even need the knife!! Accompanied by a loaded baked potato! Heaven on a plate! I want to give a huge shout out to our server, Hunter! He was amazing!! So attentive. Personable. His whole team of wait staff were great! Drinks always filled. Hunter kept checking up on us. I do have one little favour to ask of Houston’s. PLEASE BRING BACK YOUR ORIGINAL CHINESE/ASIAN CHICKEN SALAD. There’s a newer version on the menu now but it’s not the same or as good as what used to be there. We asked Hunter if the kitchen could make the older version. He went and asked the kitchen. Came back disappointed and told us they can’t. Not his fault. Understandable. He said they don’t have all the same ingredients. But appreciate the effort in trying ! Overall a fantastic experience. Can’t wait to visit again soon! And for any kids going there (or even big kids!) they made a killer delish grilled cheese sandwich for my 9 year old!! I was lucky to sample! LOL

We had last night the prime New York steak.
It was amazing. Char grilled and medium. I never had such a good juicy steak so properly cooked. As a side dish I had a small kale salad. A stellar beer to wash it down and a tasty key lime tart to finish the meal. Houston's is still the best!!!
Great food with a terrible service
Food was really good but the staff was rude and not polite. They picked fight with us because we wanted to sit together but they would not let us, even when there were big tables available. Evan the host was specially irrational and bully, I felt he had something against Latinos, making his personal purpose to ruin our lunch. It’s just very sad because this restaurant it’s one of our favorites, however we will not come back due to the poor service and the rude demeanor of the staff.

Bad Management and Service
Had dinner with my 14 year old granddaughter and we both ordered the Hawaiian rib eye steaks which was good but half of mine was fat. The waitress offered to take it back and bring out a new one. While waiting the potato and broccoli was cold when the steak was returned. Another wait for a new order of sides. Ordered the pan fried snapper for my husband and was not aware that it would be two strips of breaded fish one piece cooked hard and different sizes. Spoke with several of the managers who was not accommodating and said the fish is caught daily, breaded and fried. The fish did not taste good and looked like breaded fish from grocery store. Also shared how I had to send my steak back and the reply was I should know rib eye steak has fat. I was really taken aback. Our dinner was $250 and I’ve been to Houston’s on a number of occasions and never met managers like these. Do not order the fish. It is not a whole snapper which is not noted on the menu. Ruined dinner with my granddaughter who witnessed this poor service,
AN INCOMPETENT AND RUDE MANAGER
after eating a salad on December 24, 2023 I paid the bill, but only after leaving the restaurant did I realize that the bill was wrong. I returned and the waitress and manager apologized and found the error and gave me the correct bill and told me that I would receive a refund of the extra amount paid on my credit card within 5 days. I didn't get a refund of the extra amount I paid so I went back to the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. The manager showed up only after half an hour, showed up with a rude and unsympathetic attitude, then disappeared and only after having asked for him many times did he reappear with an annoyed attitude and inventing excuses for not wanting to give the refund. Great disappointment for this shameful behavior on the part of those who have made a mistake and do not want to answer for it.

Terrible experience. We arrived at Houston’s at 12:00 to an empty restaurant. We were talking in Spanish when we entered the restaurant since we’re latin. When we asked for a table we were continuously denied one and mistreated without any reason. The manager Syndey Edelstein, was extremely aggressive and discriminatory; she was covering her ears with her hands as to not listen to us. This is an episode which should be frowned upon in this century, we are in awe. A clear case of discrimination. We are disappointed and hurt, we’ve been coming to this restaurant for 20 years. We will obviously take the necessary actions so that no other person suffers this kind of treatment.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Stephanie who was so very warm and friendly. She showed us to a lovely table by the window. The service was first class and the food was delicious absolutely amazing. I cannot understand all the negative reviews.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.

Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
