Dinner after Wedding
Had our post wedding dinner at Hugo’s. It was amazing, food, service, wine was all superb. Had the special with King Crab, steak and large shrimp. Everything was very good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat birthday dinner overall
Friends of mine recommended coming here for an old school steakhouse experience and it was exactly that. We had a great time and great food. There were a few hiccups that kept thinks from being perfect, but it was a great experience. We sat down and had two of our party stuck in the traffic caused by the closing of the freeways. We hung out and enjoyed appetizers and wine and the staff was very friendly in dealing with the delays. We had excellent wine at very reasonable prices - utterly amazing prices, in fact. We shared a long bone-in ribeye medium. Others had the same, one had a filet and lobster tail special, another rack of lamb, and the last a beef Wellington. The tableside salad was very good. The one downfall of the evening came once we were ready to go. Staff seemed to have moved on to others and we were left scrambling to get the check to get to our show. I am not sure what changed as they were very interested in knowing our timeline up front. I would happily come back here again for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyUsually my favorite Restaurant in Vegas. Hope things have not changed
I have been dining at Hugo Wine Cellar and introducing family and friends to this hidden gem of Las Vegas for over 20 years. This is the first time I have to express how disappointed I was with my meal. I ordered the Prime Rib, as I always do, and upon taking a bite, I found the meat to be cold—even to the touch. It was disappointing, but I requested a replacement. For a restaurant as refined as Hugo Wine Cellar, I expected them to provide a fresh cut of meat rather than simply flash-cooking the same pieces, which alters the flavor. Unfortunately, they did not meet this expectation. I ended up not consuming most of the meat and even brought up the issue, expressing that a restaurant of their caliber should have brought out a new piece of meat. In the end, they compensated with a $15.00 drink. While I understand that mishaps occur, it's crucial how they are handled. I am very disappointed that they did not offer a new cut of meat, and I was further disappointed when they only compensated $15.00 after my feedback. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident, as we always make an effort to dine there. - Doug Bennett

There are dozens of great restaurants in Las Vegas but we believe Hugo’s is absolutely the best. The place, the food, the service is all above all others. Can’t recommend Hugo’s more highly!!
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for dinner!
We did not have a reservation and we were seated immediately. The service was fantastic as well as the food. Loved the ambiance.
Be the first to ReplyMastro prices for Sizzler Steaks
I haven't written a review in awhile but I am simply astonished that anyone would pay these prices for this place. One of the best steakhouses I have been to in Vegas was in Circus Circus so I didn't let the 4 Queens Hotel location in downtown discourage me from going. Quality steak can be found in the strangest of places in LV. My husband and I had heard a lot of rave reviews about this place and wanted to finally give it a try. Was a mistake! The service is good. The ambience is okay but the dress code is not enforced. The décor is very old school vegas but in a way that feel very cheap instead of dated elegance. Now the food. I give 1 star for absolutely everything. The table side salad is a gimmick for those easily entertained. It was clearly bagged $1 lettuce with limited veggie options. They come to your table in what looks like a dresser fitted with a salad bar. Now the steak.......... i have had better steaks at Sizzlers. Seriously, the ribeye is more expensive than at Mastros and is nowhere close to the same quality and flavor. The atlantic style topping was lukewarm. The only thing edible was the mash potatoes but even those were very basic...something you would expect at a regular diner. I was so completely underwhelmed I sent my whole meal back. My husband finished his filet but said it was the worst steak he ever had as well. If you want the experience.....by all means. But if you want steak that's actually worth the $400 price tag for a table of two then go somewhere else.
Be the first to ReplyNot the same Hugo’s
We have gone to Hugo’s many times. This visit did not meet our expectations. We were seated in an area where the waitstaff went zooming by. I think our table was on the flight path into the restaurant. Waitress was busy waiting on larger tables and not us. Food was good but should be. I don’t know if we will return to our favorite spot again.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious steak dinner experience
What an amazing and delectable experience at Hugo's! I am STILL talking about the tableside salad (so fresh and delicious). Also, as someone who prefers her steak Medium Well/Well (yeah, yeah, I know - please save your cries of outrage, I genuinely enjoy it), I am used to being disappointed or frustrated by the temperature, or having to battle with the servers/chefs, but not in this instance! My steak was cooked PERFECTLY and I absolutely devoured it. I loved the ambiance and experience of the entire evening, with the roses for women, the sunken-living-room-style seating, and the multiple servers per section. I'm also amazed by the amount of food we got for the price, including the chocolate covered strawberries at the end of the meal. Will absolutely return (and thanks to our bartender on the High Roller for recommending it!).
Be the first to ReplyIntimate dining with top-shelf food and service.
From the moment our party of 7 descended the steps into Hugo’s Cellar, we were treated to the finest of dining experiences. Our waiter, sommelier, and salad chef were professional and attentive. All the food was delicious, and the wine cellar was (as one would expect) fully stocked with a wide range of fine and finer wines. The “$$$$” rating is misleading…the cost of a nice steak dinner here will be less than at comparable steak houses in Las Vegas.
Be the first to ReplyYou don’t come for the food.
The best part of this 1960’s Rat Pack hangout is our sommelier who has seen it all for 39 years. He was courtly, knowledgeable and gave us some fascinating stories. The ladies received a long stem red rose and our table side salad was quite good. The food is not why you would make the trip. Our friends who have not experienced Fremont street rounds out their Vegas adventure. Downtown is a better gaming experience than the strip and the guys learned to play craps. All considered , we got what we came for at Hugos.

Had dinner Friday night March 3rd at Hugo's Cellar.... Absolutely phenomenal! Was there for my fiance's birthday and they made it a very special night our servers and other support staff were extremely helpful and attentive. I've eaten here multiple times and it never ever disappoints
Be the first to ReplyNot The Same Hugo's Cellar Food As Years Ago
Having dined at Hugo's Cellar several times over the last 20+ years I was pleased to be returning for dinner last week. With reservations at 7:00 I suggested we pop into the bar around 6:00 to enjoy a few Martinis and the little crocks of cheese spread and chicken liver pate that alone were enough to bring me back to Hugo's. Advising the bartender of our intentions, he replied that it must be at least 7 years since our last visit as that's how long it's been since those items were discontinued. Saddened to learn of their demise we nonetheless thanked him and said we would return at 7:00 for our table. Returning at 7:00 we were greeted by a most charming and gracious Maitre D' who seated us without delay. Service was prompt. I suggested we start with Hugo's Hot Rock Specialty for Two with a Trio of Sauces along with the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms as the appetizers, followed by the N.Y. med. rare with Potatoes Au Gratin and the Maple Bourbon Duck with Fingerling Potatoes. After a delightful conversation with the Sommelier Frederick, we chose a St. Emilion for $120 to wash it all down. Well, the wine was delicious. Unfortunately, the food......not so much. The Hot Rock Specialty was clumsily prepared - the waiter dropped the tongs on the floor and did not replace them for us to continue the searing process, so we used our silverware to flip and sear, serve, and dine on the meats cooking on the Hot Rock in the middle of our table. The meats presented for searing: Medallions of Filet Mignon, Ahi Tuna, Shrimp and Breast of Chicken - arrived unseasoned and therefore were rather bland after searing. The Trio of Sauces: a good Bearnaise, a lackluster Mustard, and a Plum sauce from a jar didn't do much more than make the results boringly passable. The Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, on the other hand were inedible. One taste revealed that the crab had turned rancid. I politely handed the dish back to the waiter, politely informed him that they were inedible, politely asked that they be removed from the check and politely requested he inform the chef of the state of his crab stuffing. Unfortunately, in spite of my politeness. I fear the waiter took my displeasure with the mushrooms personally, and without so much as a "Sorry about that." just took the plate and stormed off. He remained distant and aloof throughout the rest of the dinner. I personally have always thought of the "Hugo's Famous Tableside Salad" service with the sixteen or so available "toppings" more of a gimmick than a true culinary adventure - something to be tolerated before the main course arrives - so we just asked for small Caesars and were pleased with the result and the friendliness of the salad preparer, who over the course of the meal morphed into our server as our original waiter found little reason to continue on with us after our displeasure with the mushroom appetizer. The N.Y. was mostly fat and gristle, the Duck and it's Maple Bourbon Glaze was, well, just not that tasty and far from delicious, the Maple Glaze a real disappointment. But having already reached our self-imposed limit of only sending one dish back to the kitchen as unacceptable per meal, we just lingered over our mostly uneaten plates, cutting them up into little pieces so it looked like we were eating. The Potatoes Au Gratin were, however, a triumph. Absolutely delicious! And paired wonderfully with our bottle of St. Emilion. After the meal we ordered Irish Coffee - also delicious - and were presented with a hot molten lava cake and a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries and apricots. The tab was $400. We left an $80. tip. In summation, the front of the house staff: the Bartender, Maitre D', Wine Steward and Salad Preparer were pure Old School Joy: super friendly and attentive, well spoken with a quick sense of humor and skillful turn-of-phrase, eager to engage in friendly banter and repartee and happy to share stories and reminisce on the Las Vegas of years ago, and eager to speculate on what the future holds. That night, though, the back of the house, the Kitchen: Not so good. So, there you have it. Our night at Hugo's Cellar gets Two Circles on TripAdvisor: "Poor."

Most disappointed with everything! From cold, tough duck to chipped glass. Waited way too long from ordering to actually get meal.
Be the first to ReplyOld School Vegas at its tastiest!
Booked a table in late December to celebrate the birthdays of two friends who'd never experienced dining at Hugo's before. From the roses at door to the chocolate dipped strawberries, they were completely blown away! For me, the salad cart experience is always the highlight! It's wonderfully theatrical and always fresh and delicious. I ordered the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked. Both friends were spoilt with chocolate birthday cakes too. Service is always perfect and this was, as ever, a wonderful dining experience. My only issue, and it's a strange one, is that when the bill was settled (by card) the tip wasn't debited. No idea why. Next time, I'll tip double!

We had been to Hugo's about 20 years ago so decided to see if it had changed. It really hadn't! A long stemmed red rose for my wife, warm, dark colors with leather coverings and romantic lighting were welcoming. After being seated (at our reserved table) we were greeted quickly by David who offered the menus and took our drink orders. The steaks we ordered were tender and perfectly prepared and the attentive staff made sure we had anything else we needed. That included a table-prepared salad that was delicious. It was a satisfying experience which we will attempt to repeat on our next visit. Just be sure you saved some of your payout winnings to thoroughly enjoy a guiltless evening.

My boyfriend wanted to try a nice steakhouse downtown and picked out Hugo’s Cellar. What a choice. The service was exceptional. The tableside salad was a lovely touch. We ate so much food by the end of our meal we couldn’t of eaten a single bite more.
Be the first to ReplyOld School All the Way
We had reservations at 7:15PM on 12/11/22. We were so excited to dine here. Walked down the famous cellar steps to an old school waiting area, bar and entrance to the restaurant. We were early and opted for a drink at the bar, Have a Martini. Made and served very classy. Bartender was fantastic. I don't recall his name. Table was ready. They give a fresh rose to all women. Table was roomy in the main room. We had a staff of waiters that explained the menu and provided top notch service. I ordered the NY Strip. The lady ordered Salmon. The meals come with tableside prepared Cesar salad, potato, veggies. My lady wanted her salmon rare which caused an issue. Waiter advised he will try. It came out well done. My lady didn't enjoy. However, my NY Strip was awesome. Nothing left on my plate! There was more discussion about the Salmon preparation between my lady and head waiter while I had coffee and a complimentary dessert plate. Manager( was professional and fantastic) came over, expressed his sincere concern for her displeasure and did the right thing. We are both looking forward to our next visit. I highly suggest you try Hugo's Cellar.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
I really wanted to love this old Vegas restaurant but sadly, I cannot. Service is spectacular and it’s has all the cool vibes that one can expect of an old basement but I was disappointed in the food . My husband had the veal and it was tender and sauced well but not spectacular. I love Duck but it was not at all crispy and the fat didn’t render so I could barely eat it. The table side salad was delicious as were the drinks. It was a very expensive meal but we would t mind if the food was great. Fir that price, I expect the meal to wow me!

Never have I been so disappointed in a place that had such a good reputation, the service started nicely with our host seating and greeting us very professionally. They seem to be trying to see how many tables they can fit till you can't move. Our table was practically attached to the folks in the booth next to us. Two members in our party have been there in the past and could not believe how many tables they stuffed into this space. Well it started with our waiter, he was attentive at first but drifted Steadily away, we where done with our drinks before we even got bread. Then after another 20 we were told the salad was on the way. Finally the salad came, then after another long wait we had our order taken. The food was not worth the price. The only meal in our party that someone enjoyed was the beef Wellington. We were well done eating and no sign of our waiter, not even a drive-by how is everything going? I had to flag down a different waiter to try and find our waiter, and we still had to wait. Overall, the food was average, service subpar.
Be the first to ReplyOld Vegas gourmet room, pretty good food
I've only eaten here twice, once with my family and once with my son and one of his friends. This place is Old Vegas nice and the food is quite good. I have no doubt that some places on the Strip are better, but at substantially more cost. I honestly don't remember what I got, but all of us liked it. The Caesar's salad is prepared tableside, and there are about a dozen things you can have thrown in. I'm pretty much a purist when it comes to Ceasar's salads, but in any event I enjoyed mine. We didn't get desert but they brought out some complementary sweets. I think it was chocolate covered strawberries. In any event, we liked it. They jacked up their steak prices about six months ago (after my visits) and I suppose it isn't quite the value it was. But it's still a somewhat good deal compared to high-end restaurants on the Strip.

If you were looking for a great dinner set an old school Las Vegas setting, Hugo seller is where you want to take someone that you truly care about. From the service to the excellent food everything was 100% perfect!
Be the first to ReplyI give Hugo’s a 10-Star rating
Right up front I state that you will pay 5-Star prices for 10-Star service and meal quality. The servers are a team and they efficiently work together to give you the best dining experience possible. Everything is perfect. The classy touches are: a rose for each lady, a custom made salad for each person at their table, a generous bread basket, the chocolate covered fruit, heated hand towels at the end of the meal. The portions are huge! My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We can’t remember a better meal. Thank you for making our special day memorable.

The bartender is a true artist. My martini included an extra carafe that came in a crystal ice bucket. I only had appetizers but they still treated me like a queen. The host was a true gentleman (he gave me a rose), and the server was a true professional. The lobster bisque and escargot were delicious. This is a very nice, old-school, lovely reprieve from the loud bustle on Fremont St.
Be the first to ReplyBest Steakhouse In Old Las Vegas - A Class Act From Start To Finish!
My wife was very excited to take the family to this restaurant for a special dinner as our son had just graduated from University. She had read a lot about this place which was under the Four Queens Casino on Fremont Street.
This is another one of the very rare, old style steak houses that has become increasingly hard to find in Las Vegas. It perfectly captures the look and feel of the old style restaurants from the golden age of the Vegas strip.
Its a very classy place and it starts right at the front door where all the girls and women are presented with a beautiful, long-stemmed rose. There's even a vase provided at the table when you're seated. We chose a nice booth at the back of the restaurant where its nice and dark and secluded.
All of our servers were great, the sommelier was a funny guy who had been there forever and recommended a wonderful bottle of wine for my wife and kids (Bin 669 - $49).
Our son ordered the wrapped prawns ($21) for an appetizer and we had a delicious cheese board ($18) for everyone to share.
We were having so much fun that we took an extra long time to order our entrees and we didn't feel rushed at all by the staff.
If you order the entrees they come with a table side prepared salad - the server brought a cart over to our table and it had a plastic divider set up for social distancing. There he made each of us a beautiful salad with a huge variety of fresh toppings. I had the Caesar salad and it was really tasty!
After the appetizers and salads were done, we were brought these tiny little ice cream cones that had a wonderful raspberry sorbet on them - it was the intermezzo of the meal meant to cleanse our palettes for the main course.
When we finally did order our entrees, I had the stuffed jumbo pasta shells ($46), My wife had the Cellar Prime Cut Steak - Oscar Style, which meant that it came with a giant crab leg, mashed potatoes and veggies - ($78). Our son had the Hugo's Prime Cut Steak, which was a whopping 24oz and also came with the Crab Leg. His girlfriend ordered the small NY Strip Steak.
The portions were huge and absolutely delicious. they were all very hard to finish but somehow we managed.
We were them presented with a selection of little desserts that are included with the meal - chocolate dipped strawberries, figs and apricots.
Then we had our real desserts - creme boulle, chocolate ,mousse and chocolate cake ($7 each).
By this time we were absolutely stuffed.
What a magnificent meal in a truly wonderful restaurant. The whole place and all of the staff a real class act. If you have the time and the $, you are definitely going to want to check out Hugo's Cellar for a slice of old Vegas that'll make you feel like you stepped back in time!
