Authentic and true Hunan food
Living in China for over 5 years, its hard to get authentic Chinese food outside of China. especially speciality food like Hunan, Sichuan food that isn't catered to the US palate. This place is the exception! The food was spot on and if I didn't know better, I would have through I was back in China ordering these dishes. from the MaPo Tofu, to the sour/spicy potatoes, the Mao Hong Xiao Rou...this was a real authentic treat! Great location and easy to find.

Great find if you are looking for Hunan food. The Hong Shao Rou (Red Braised Pork Belly) was pretty good - which is what I was looking for, reminding me of my time in China. Great for that chilli kick and well differentiated from its Shanghai-sweet counter.
The service friendliness was ok - standard for Chinese restaurants, quick as I went during lunch.
Good chinese (Hunan) food
This venue serves good chinese food. Especially the "General Tsao" tofu was liked by everyone in our party.

Small Chinese restaurant that specializes in spicy Hunan food. It's nice looking and clean.
Service was a bit spotty. Wait staff not on the floor or too busy with side work. But once flagged down the food came quickly.
I had an excellent sweet and sour chicken with a win ton soup. All the food was delicious.
Best part was that the price was right!
Truly Awful
I read a great review of this place in Cheap Eats in New York Magazine. From service to food the place was a mess. Some food was oddly cold or tepid, the fish was literally under-cooked so it would not come off the bone, which the waiter admitted and took it away. The Hunan Chicken was a gloppy, ketchup-tasting mess. Dishes came out in random order, like the rice with appetizers, long before the mains came out so it was cold; the scallion pancakes after the main courses; the vegetables we ordered never came, so we ordered them again. Mistake. The broccoli came out in large stalks, like tree trunks, inedible and under-cooked. Plus the room kept filling up with acrid, spicy smoke.
Stay away!
