A Find in Crown Heights
This outdoor very casual restaurant in Crown Heights with its DJ playing 70s music was a lot of fun. The food which was simple, was also very good. Take my chicken sandwich - yummy. It may have been the best sandwich I have had in recent memory. Crispy, moist and vegan! The arugula salad along side of it was fine. The peach whiskey cake was tasty and worth the calories. Service was good too. Each night they deep discount wines. This is more snaking food than a full meal, but it is good. They serve breakfast, lunch, are vegan and dinner and get a Michelin rating. Tax and tip are included and all orders and bill paying are done through your phone which made ordering simple and quick.
Be the first to ReplyFun Place for Brunch with the Millennials
Our millennial daughter chose Hunky Dory for brunch after we saw the Pierre Cardin exhibit at the nearby Brooklyn Museum. She made a reservation for 1:30, as it is a relatively small place. Boy, did we bring up the average age of the customers!
Our first thought was to have a cocktail. I asked for a Bloody Mary. They didn't have that (really???).....but they had something similar with carrot juice (????) and other strange ingredients that were unknown to me, so I ordered a cappuccino instead!
We shared the smashed cukes, which we enjoyed, and the Very Good Side Salad with grapefruit, coconut, chicories, crispy shallots, fish sauce, and lime vinaigrette that sounded good but was basically tasteless. We all enjoyed our egg sandwiches, including mine with lamb and pork sausage, hold the cheese, and my daughter's with bacon, bring on the cheese.
Service was good throughout. We enjoyed our time visiting with our daughter amidst the millennials of Brooklyn. Hunky Dory was much more fun than the restaurant at the Brooklyn Museum.
