Husk is a cool renovated house turned restaurant that is known for having a different menu every day. Our group of three came in on a Sunday for brunch and it wasn't too busy, but I do recommend reservations. To start, we had the buttermilk doughnuts with lemon glaze and my friends loved them but there was something about them I didn't like. It wasn't the lemon glaze.. that was delicious. But idk I just was not obsessed with the doughnut taste itself. For meals, I had the fried chicken with honey drizzle and a biscuit. The chicken was so crispy and delicious and the biscuit was too. However, it did feel like it was missing some gravy. The mushroom and Boursin omelette was good but again nothing to brag about. My friend got the fried rice with beef short rib and an egg and that was by far the favorite meal of the bunch. It was delicious and full of flavor. Definitely order this if it's on your menu! Husk advertised their mimosas served with fresh squeezed orange juice, but unfortunately the drink itself just tasted like watered down champagne... bummer! The espresso martinis were my least favorite of the whole weekend because they were VERY strong and tasted like straight vodka until I stirred it a bit. Overall, the food was good but we liked a couple other brunch spots better but I'd be willing to try again with a different menu.

Outstanding service. You can tell the food is locally sourced by the quality of the ingredients. And kudos to the guy who set the tables up. We watched him clear, clean and set up several tables and he was very metticulous. If you can get reservations...do!

We have been to the two other locations, and this one is the actual flagship restaurant, and just like the others, it was a wonderful experience. Their version of banana bread was other worldly and was beyond belief. Our server was passionate, friendly and enthusiastic. The food was delicious and the cocktails were next level. The restaurant itself is beautiful and every employee clearly loves what they do. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as did clearly everyone else.

One of Charleston's most compelling restaurants, Husk never fails to exceed expectations -- delivering amazing dishes, outstanding cocktails and impeccable service, all in a relaxed and welcoming setting. On a recent dinner visit, my wife and I were absolutely blown away by the flavors that arrived at our table, from the delicious Carolina Gold Fried Rice and succulent Shrimp Dumplings that we shared as appetizers, to the mind-blowing Pastrami Short Rib and Pork Ribeye we ordered for our entrees. The setting is classy but casual -- you'll fit in perfectly in jeans and a polo shirt -- and seating is available both inside and on the covered second-floor porch. Reservations are a MUST, but try to arrive early to enjoy a cocktail (or two) in the adjacent Husk Bar -- a fabulously eccentric (and somewhat crowded) lounge in an historic building next to the main restaurant. The Husk Old Fashioned and the signature Dragoon's Punch are two of the best cocktails in Charleston, and Bourbon lovers will appreciate the bar's extensive selection. Husk is committed to serving modern lowcountry dishes sourced from local farms in the surrounding region. If your perception of Southern cuisine is collard greens, grits and fatty BBQ, this restaurant will change it forever. The dishes rotate daily, but you can always expect a world-class experience, impeccable presentation and unforgettable service. I can't recommend it highly enough.

One of the best dishes of our trip was the biscuits and gravy here for brunch. The flavor was out of this world. First time we've had oatmeal griddle cakes. They were sooo good. Will want them again. Lemon buttermilk donuts were just okay. Too dry and lacking flavor. They should dunk them in the glaze, but they just drizzle them. Really good coffee and Bloody Mary.

Definitely worth the hype! The restaurant itself is beautiful and truly gives off an authentic Charleston charm. The food was absolutely delicious - the fish, cornbread, oysters, rabbit pot pie - everything was 10/10. Definitely would go back!

Had to try, saw much about this place, great ambience and the smells from outside were amazing! We had to make a reservation about 2-3 weeks in advance, for 2, and could only get 9pm on a Saturday, no holiday, in early Feb. With all the raving reviews and the amount of people here (PACKED) I had very high expectations. Even though our reservation was around 9, we only got seated 20-25 minutes after our reservation time. Then it took about 10 minutes to even get water or see our waiter. I get it's busy and there's staff shortage everywhere but even tables that sat around the same time of us were getting served sooner. Service didn't get much better from there.... When the restaurant emptied out around 10:30-11 pm, we ordered just 2 scoops of ice cream and that took almost 20 minutes to make it to our table in a near empty restaurant. The staff definitely prioritized cleaning up and putting away everything, just not us ... would have been 3 stars because of service alone but the food-- Food was delicious!! We had the rabbit pot pie which was so tender and flavorful. Loved the flaky/crunchy pastry. The meat was not gamey at all! We also had a southern fried rice dish which was THE BEST - crispy, blasts of flavor from the sauces with that Asian chili oil finish. I loved the combo of a southern/Asian dish with rice (an import the area was known for!) The sea bass we had was alright. The sweet potato sauce that dressed it was decadent, but the fish itself was bland. Corn bread is large for a party of two... it's a shame they only make a large chunk considering how many couples I saw eating there. Ice cream was interesting.... We loved the banana rum but not the other, too sweet and fudgy. Overall, a good place to try if it's your first time down and you can snag a reservation but I wouldn't be too pressed to get one.More like 3.5-4.
Be the first to ReplyThe service and ambiance were fantastic.
We ordered the carbonara, short rib and cornbread. Everything was a 10/10. The short rib is a must. Make sure you visit Husk if you are visiting Charleston for the first time.

Great ambience upstairs. Although we only had the fries and fried chicken slider, it was tasty.

Lives up to all the hype, if you can get a reservation here definitely grab it. It also makes your experience ten times better when the waiter and service is so warm and welcoming-- there are other places at the same level that just feel too stuffy. The oysters were TO DIE FOR!

After having some delicious meals the past three days in Charleston. we really had high hopes for Husk. but what a MAJOR disappointment.we had a little concern from the menu offering out of the gate, The menu doesn't read great and it was executed just as poor as it reads. nothing was balanced in terms of flavor or texture. starters:caesar- tasted like very bitter and way to strong on the anchovy (needed lemon juice, egg yolk, and much more cheese to balance out) the croutons were so over cooked I'm shocked they didn't break someones teeth. scallops- the dish had no texture and the rice was undercooked. maybe try searing the scallops and cook the rice more.pork lettuce wraps- this was the best dish of the night. and the only dish properly executed. although misleading in verbiage as it says toro which is belly not cheek. and not enough lettuce.entrees:chicken- the thigh was under cooked and the bean puree had to much salt and citrus. we didn't eat it but were charged for it.beef- ordered MR came out overcooked, bleeding on the plate because it was not well rested before slicing. the shank was so over salted and over cook it was a puree. sweet potatoes were burnt. this dish had zero attention to detail.porchetta- was chunks of dry pork with a distasteful rub. we expected the belly wrapped around the loin with crispy skin and the waiter confirmed that's what it was. false advertisement, this dish was also only half eaten and left on the bill. The waiter didn't even inquire if anything was wrong? with the two uneaten plates of food left on the table? we passed on dessert and went to another restaurant to get appetizers as we left hungry. I do declare that was by far the worst meal in Charleston, don't waste your time or money.

Our first visit to Husk in Charleston, during the Wine & Food Festival weekend, was incredible! The atmosphere and building were perfectly appointed, light and airy, decorated superbly. The service was top notch! Each staff member that we interacted with was inviting and made you feel welcome. We sampled a few brunch items - sticky bun, smoked fish toast, Husk cheeseburger, beef shank hash - all delicious and highly recommended! We can't wait to return for another sampling!

We came in early and had dinner at the bar, which was an overall lovely experience! This place had the best drinks we had during our entire Charleston trip. Loved the innovative cocktails that were each mixed to perfection. We started with the hot chicken dumplings which were very tasty and VERY spicy! We also ordered the skillet cornbread (which was very savory and corny -- loved it with the whipped butter) and the porchetta. I probably wouldn't have ordered the porchetta as my first pick, but it had a lot of variety of flavors and was very well cooked! The service was really prompt and quick, except we waited quite a while for our entree. But the vibe was so fun and cool and the drinks were so good that it didn't matter too much.

My partner and I came to Husk for brunch to celebrate a milestone anniversary. The staff did well making us feel special from welcoming us to the printing on the menu. Unfortunately, the food did not meet the level of the service. We started with the Smoked Fish Toast and Arugula Escarole Caesar. The fish toast was overwhelming with the fresh horseradish we could not enjoy the other flavors of the dish. The Caesar salad was over-dressed and has so much anchovy in the dressing that even after asking for more greens to toss in, we still could not get the saltiness off our palates. For the main dish, my partner ordered the Shrimp Etouffee and Grits. I ordered the Rabbit Confit. The shrimp etouffee again was over salted and the grits lacked any texture. It was a mush consistency. The rabbit confit was the only good thing we had. The potatoes were crisp and roasted well and the rabbit tender. Other than that, everything was overly seasoned and salty instead of letting the flavor of the ingredients shine. With so many great restaurants in Charleston, skip Husk and spend your time and money elsewhere. The food makes for better photos than meal, unfortunately.

For our trip to Charleston from Seattle we got many recommendations to be sure to go to Husk. It was not OMG, but good, nothing tremendously outstanding except for the spicy lamb dumplings appetizers. I had a catfish plate, my companion a beef and roast beet plate. Server was somewhat knowledgeable but seemed to make up some of his answers as he went along. No longer a fancy dress place, staff and well heeled diners were in jeans and tennis shoes for dinner. Other diners also seemed to be visitors, recommended to this restaurant. This is currently not a "must visit" in a sea of great Charleston restaurants. They seemed to be riding a wave based on their name.
Be the first to ReplyHusk was good.
Not great, not bad. The food was decent but nothing spectacular. The service was slow but our server was nice enough. The host desk was not very friendly over the phone or when they seated us. The ham and biscuits were pretty good, as was the chicken dish. The carrot side and banana pudding were quite good. Chocolate cake was sadly mediocre. Certainly not a bad establishment, but there is definitely better in Charleston.
Be the first to ReplyHusk in Charleston lived up to all of the hype.
We went for brunch and were treated to a culinary Southern delight. The old, historic building is beautiful and added to the charm of the experience. The service at Husk was friendly and attentive, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. We started by sharing a pecan cinnamon roll, and it was a perfect start to the meal. The roll was sweet, crunchy, and absolutely delicious. For my main course, I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit, and it was amazing. The biscuit was flaky and perfectly baked, and the sausage, egg, and cheese were cooked to perfection. The side of creamy grits was also fantastic and added to the Southern charm of the meal.Overall, I had an amazing experience at Husk in Charleston. The food was exceptional, the service was excellent, and the historic building added to the overall charm of the restaurant. If you're looking for a great brunch spot in Charleston, I highly recommend giving Husk a try.
Be the first to ReplySuch a great experience.
The food was perfectly prepared , service on spot and a great friendly southern vibe. Our best meal in Charleston.
Be the first to ReplyAlways such a wonderful experience at Husk.
The cocktails are always refreshing and delicious!
Be the first to ReplyI had so many high hopes for this place.
..We didn't finish a single course we had... We had pimento cheese, Caesar, cornbread, pork belly wraps, catfish and Rabbit. Caesar had crumbled corn bread that was hard to chew through. Pork belly was SO tough, but flavors were good. Cornbread was lackluster, Pimento cheese nothing to get excited about. Fermented chill made it so bitter. My catfish was under seasoned, but the real problem was the dirty rice and collard greens. They were so sweet and off putting. My friends Rabbit was such a weird textured and didn't smell good... Huge disappointment. Go to Magnolias instead.

Great food! I am GF and the server recommended the steak hash - was amazing. My husband enjoys a country breakfast and they created a version of a country breakfast that he really enjoyed. The Bloody Mary's were excellent with the perfect spice!

Super nice location and venue ! The food was great! We ordered the biscuits and gravy for appetizer which was a "home run" as per my husband ! We finished the whole thing !!! Very yummy. Then for main dish he ordered fried chicken and biscuits with a side of that gravy :) and I got the shrimp and grits with a side of bacon! Just perfect! Full bellies and satisfying meal! Recommend if you're in the area!
Be the first to ReplyI will think about this meal for a very long time.
Everything about the experience was awesome. We were a party of 5 so we were able to order a few starters as well as entrees and that was a treat. But what really topped this already wonderful meal was dessert. The basque cheesecake was delicious BUT the chocolate chess pie...easily one of the top 5 best things I've ever eaten. If I could have hugged the pastry chef I would. Would seriously not miss out on that dessert if you have the opportunity. Will be dreaming of that for a while.

anniversary dinner august 4th:our only other dinning experience here was pre covid lunch, it was incredible. Dinner on the 4th was good, i do not think Husk is at the cutting edge of driving Charleston cuisine any longer. the food was good, competent but not exceptional. We had the Oysters, good but again not so great i was blown away. The flavors did carry the chefs intent, but almost to obvious. The Chicken was outstanding! i ordered the Catfish and I will tell you it was cooked to perfection , clean and juicy, crust light, the accompaniment on plate perfect to balance. The wine list was ok, we ordered a Far Niente Chardonnay. We fully enjoyed our dinner here.
