Walked in early on a Thursday evening and had to wait 15 minutes for seating at the bar. The restaurant is small and intimate. Service was excellent and staff was friendly. We started out with a couple glasses of wine, bread, olives, and the Burrata. The Burrata with prosciutto was excellent! For our mains we split the Cacio E Pepe followed by the Fried Pork Chop. Both were delicious! I am a big fan of Cacio E Pepe and I Sodi's did not disappoint. Pasta tasted freshly made and the sauce was perfection! Highly recommend all dishes. Reservations are difficult to get. If you arrive around 5pm the wait is not too long for bar seating.

I don't know why people are not rating this place as high as it deserves. Yes, staff is a little pretentious and it is hard to get a table but the food is excellent. Stopped in without a reservation around 5-5:30 and wait was about an hour. Started the dinner with an order of Burrata then meat lasagna and orecchiette with sausage which was the special for the night. Both our meals and the starter were excellent. Our server asked us if we wanted bread but he didn't make it clear that they charge for it. It's not much, 5-6 bucks and we would have said yes if we knew they charge for the bread, but I thought it was odd that they offer bread as a menu item while it's not on the menu. Tiramisu was really good, mostly cream but tasted good. Small cozy dining room. Totally recommend and I'm glad we were able to get a table.

Got there at 5:15 on a Friday night, put our names on the list and were seated by 7:45. Honestly the food was below average. The lasagne was dry and lacking flavor. Wayyy too much salt. The short rib was 75% fat so we sent it back. Customer service in this situation was honestly embarrassing. Our waiter didn't care and acted as if we are missing out/stupid because "short rib is typically a fatty dish". The ribeye was also tough, salty, too fatty, and lacking flavor. It's very cramped and crowded with no decor. Truly nothing about this place is worthy of the praise it gets. I am very disappointed since we were expecting a wonderful meal. At least now I know I will not be going back.
Solid Italian spot in the village.
We had their meat lasagna, oxtail tagliatelle, artichoke salad, and flourless chocolate cake. I didn't think the lasagna was that memorable as it felt a bit dry, however - the oxtail tagliatelle (their daily special) was INCREDIBLE. We sat at the bar which was a great vibe and the bartenders were friendly. Their cocktails were also strong.

I've been here twice within a month because I couldn't stop thinking about their menu. Whatever popularity ISodi has is worth the struggle of fighting for a table. I did both the walk in bar seat and the table via reservation seat. Amazing both timesThey're famous dish-- the lasagna was huge it's really flavorful. The texture it was a bit mushy which is different but not bad. The cheese sprinkled on top is perfect. I reheated it for lunch the next day and it was still amazing. The cacio e Pepe was the best I'd ever had. Like, I'm my entire life. So creamy yet light. At risk of sounding like a broken record, it was so flavorful (because I'm convinced every dish on their menu is insanely flavorful). The service is good. They could be a bit more kind, especially given how few tables there are. Speaking of tables, the interior at isodi is romantically lit the tables are near each other but not too squished. It's intimate and cozy with an upscale vibe. I left isodi telling all of my friends they needed to visit. Stat.

Saw this place had a very good lasagna so wanted to try it. Had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was amazing, explained the whole menu and was super attentive the entire time. The restaurant is super cozy and definitely somewhere I would come casually if I lived in the area. Started the meal off with the Italian meat and cheese plate. Definitely tasty when eaten with the honey and bread. Decided to go with the lasagna, cacio e Pepe, and their ox tail special pasta. Additionally we got the pork chop to split. I was expecting the lasagna to be insane, however it was extremely lackluster. Was lukewarm and honestly just super average. Was pretty disappointed about this. The cacio e Pepe was very good though, pretty decent portion and good flavor from the peppercorns. Ox tail pasta was also great. The star was honestly the pork chop. It was thick cut and lightly breaded. Super intense porky, herby flavor. Really good. Overall I would come here again for the ambience, the food is generally good but there are definitely some misses on the menu.

5 stars for the Lasagna a Sugo!! This is the reason we came here and it was worth the hype. Perfect ratio of pasta to sauce. Didn't want it to end!Also recommend the Tortellini stuffed with prosciutto if it's still on their specials menu. We got this as an appetizer and it was served in a nice broth The rest of the dishes were good, but honestly not as memorable as the lasagna. - Pappardelle Al limone: very light sauce so mixed reviews from the table. I personally liked this - Fried artichokes: a little too fried for me. Could hardly taste artichoke - Oxtail pasta: this was on their special's menu. The sauce was delicious but didn't pair well with the wheat pasta - Tiramisu: this was a little different than traditional tiramisu. The top was super creamy/ custard like and very little espresso taste since there weren't soaked ladyfingers throughout. Personally would pass on this The place is super small/cozy - makes sense why it's so hard to get a rez here. The service is excellent and waiters offered us a drink until our table was ready. Overall, worth it if you can snag a rez, but there are equally good Italian spots in the area

I Sodi has the noteriety of being the hardest reservation to get in nyc, and while i always love a challenge if the food lives up to the hype, this place is decidedly is not worth the trouble. my friend wanted to go here for her birthday dinner and made a reservation for 4 people right when reservations were released, and still was only able to get a table at 5pm. the restaurant is cozy and chic, service was attentive and friendly, but the food left me underwhelmed. we ordered a number of dishes so i was able to try a bit of everything, we ordered some appetizers, one of the salads which was forgettable, the artichoke fritti was also a miss for us as it was over fried, but my friends enjoyed the steak tartare. their lasagna tasted pretty good although served lukewarm, be warned it's extremely dense and rich, after a few bites we were done honestly. they didn't have the tagliatelle capriossa on the menu, or any pastas that featured tomatoes for that matter because the waiter said they were out of season... so I ordered the lemon papparadelle and it was just fine. one of my friends who is gluten free got the short rib and polenta but it was such a small portion of short rib she was still hungry. I Sodi was i guess decent enough, but with so many other excellent italian restaurants in the city, i would say don't bother setting that alarm at midnight to get a reservation here.

Right away when I saw the menu, I knew I wanted that multi layer Lasagna a Sugo! I've only seen a multilayer lasagna like that in instagram photos, but the real thing doesn't disappoint! I ordered it to go so the photo doesn't do it justice, but it was hands down the best lasagna I've had so far!

What an amazing meal! We got the black truffle burrata, fried artichoke, lasagne with meat sauce, cacio e pepe, pappardelle al limone and the oxtail pasta special. My favorite was the lasagne but the boys both loved the cacio e pepe. The fried artichoke is another MUST. It really was amazing but a little aioli or some dipping sauce on the side would have made it phenomenal. They also gave us a side of grilled endives since one of our pasta dishes arrived a bit on the later side which was also perfectly charred. The drinks were also spectacular - I had three different negronis. The negroni rosa was my favorite even if it was on the sweeter side. Absolutely worth the hype. Get that reservation and get ready to feast!
In love - and can't go back soon enough
Okay my husband and I are a Rita-Jody fan couple....we love all their restaurants (and I am now the proud owner and user of their new Via Carota cookbook). We had not been able to get into i Sodi for awhile so we reverted to the walk in trick - you show up when they open (now 4:30) and you might get a seat at the comfy bar. Well we went on successive nights and got in both nights for two sensational meals. Over the two nights we had the arugula salad, the mache, the endive and walnuts. We had the tagliatelle with carmelized onions, a ravioli, others that were specials of the day. Dessert yes. Great drinks one night, wine the other. Rita Sodi runs a phenomenal kitchen. Love the bar staff. You do not feel second class in any way. We get to NYC every month for work now that we work remote. Well we are going back soon and our first dinner will at the bar.
One if the yummiest Italian meals I've had....EVER!!!
My daughter and I have been on a 3 year mission to eat at all the best Italian establishments in NYC, especially downtown. I Sodi stands at the top of the list which includes: Via Carota, L'Artusi, Rezdora, Palma, Don Angie, Babbo. While I prefer the atmosphere of some of these others over I Sodi, I just absolutely loved the food. We ordered the Beef Lasagne which melted in my mouth. It was the most delicate lasagne I have ever had. We also ordered the lemon pepper pasta which was delicious.

Overhyped restaurant with average food
Not sure why this place is so hyped up. The fried artichokes and cabbage salad were recommended to us by our server and they were both okay. There needed to be a sauce/dip with the artichokes. Their lasagna (the most well known item on the menu) was dry and salty. The only thing I really liked was the pappardelle with lemon and it didn’t even have much of a lemon taste. Not worth the aggravation of trying to get a reservation on Resy. There are so many better Italian restaurants in the area, I wouldn’t come back here.

From the greeting at the door by Chris, through the presentation of the specials and detailed knowledge of the dishes on the menu, the experience of fine dining Italian style was top notch. After an appetizer of anti pasta and perfect tartar, three of us chose a family style presentation lasagna al sugo, hand torn pasta with oxtail and tagliatelle con cipolla which gave us a variety of home made noodles perfectly sauced with a range of rich flavors. For those not keen on sharing, a dish of rigatoni noodles was savored. All in all, everyone agreed we had as nice Italian dining as any of us had experienced before and to a person each of us would go again to enjoy the menu selections we missed the first time.
Fantastic small tuscan restaurant
I understand it is hard to book this place - we lucked out. It feels like one of those cozy neighborhood spots that just happens to have fantastic food. While we waited for our spot at the bar, I had a delicious Negroni. At the bar, we tried the lasagne, the deep fried artichokes, the cacio e pepe, and a rib eye with arugula - all were fantastic. The cacio e pepe was flavorful, yet subtle. After dinner, there were so many bottles of Amaro at the bar, we had to taste a couple. Fine way to finish off a delicious meal.

This place continues to deliver some of the best Italian food anywhere. Sublime negronis - there must be some alchemy involved - and truly simple but astounding pasta .Go!

Cramped ,Dark Dump with no possibility of Making Reservations
This place has a crazy reservation system. The host is very dumb.He told me I couldn’t sit at the bar unless I have a reservation. he told me I can’t make a reservation then but “could come back later” Is he hallucinating? The place looks like a tiny dump and they pretend they’re so “In Demand”? I’d rather go to Babbo Marea, Fiorello or Gabriel’s or any legit high end place and be treated better and have Michelin rated food. Apparently, the owner of I Sodi thinks she’s the best chef in Greenwich Village cause she owns a few other places-the other one is no better! Unfortunately,the place is Not Carpe Diem but rather Run for the Hills!
I Sodi he's been one of my favorite restaurants for years.
The food is next left and staff top notch, but I'd like to take a moment to gush over the simple, understated and outrageously chic interiors. The use of natural woods and stone is a master class in it doesn't matter if something is simple of the materials are high quality and love and devotion goes into their selection. The fluted glass partition at the entryway and in the front window allows light to enter while maintaining this meca of fashionable dining's intimate and private vibes. The blown glass light fixtures are what I must assume murano and a nod to the owners Italian root. My only negative is the chair selection for a space that is so tight, the chairs wood back wrap around and pretty imprison you to the table which isn't the worst place to be but makes it a feat of acrobatics just to get in and out of. Still hands down one of my favorite dining experiences of all time and I will always and forever dream of the fried artichokes.

.. came for the much hyped lasagna and it was served cold. I told them all they tried again and parts of it were still cold... They must be cooking it earlier in the day or the night before or something and maybe even freezing if and then thawing it out / like microwaving it. Really unbelievable maybe it was some weird night or something.

We had heard great things about I Sodo so we put our name in just in case they had a cancellation. We got it! It was a delicious meal from appetizer to dessert! We had a great experience. Thanks for a memorable evening.

Appetizers were OK+, pastas were very good, and, unfortunately, deserts were a complete disappointment. The meat lasagna and a special pasta with mushrooms and lamb were the highlights.Service was fine and dinner for 3 with 3 drinks, 3 appetizers, 3 pastas and 2 desserts was $233.54 (20% tip included). This was very filling and we took some of the pastas home, although we each only ate a few bites of the two desserts we ordered because we didn't care for them.

A resounding yes on I Sodi! Worth the hassle of getting the reservation. We started with the artichokes which were amazing! They were beautifully light, with each leaf separating into crisp layers, while the heart was soft. I would definitely order this again. For mains, we ordered a special porcini lamb pasta and the meat lasagna. I really liked the porcini lamb pasta (it tasted much better than it looked). The pasta came in these wide sheets that picked up the sauce well. The lasagna was also great and I enjoyed that it wasn't too saucy. We finished with a flourless chocolate cake. Decadent and creamy, without being overly sweet. Definitely a great option, especially if you're impartial to chocolate, but otherwise it might be trying something else on the dessert menu. It can be difficult to get a reservation here because it's such a small space inside, but I really enjoyed the experience! I'd love to come back soon.

After a day of sightseeing, headed to the restaurant hoping to land a table for 2 (no reservations). Upon arriving we were greeted by a server. I inquired about a table for 2 and was told the wait was 2-2.5 hrs. I decided to place a togo order. Once we put the order in. We were told by the server it would be about 30-35 mins for our order. We decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. We headed back to the restaurant 25 mins later. As we were waiting outside, a couple walked up stating they had no reservation and wanted to see if a table for two was available. The same server informed them that in fact a table was available. As the server was getting the couple's table ready I confirm with them what I just heard. After the server seats them he comes back out to give me an update on my order. I ask, "what happened to the 2-2.5 hour wait. It's been 25 mins?" To which he answers, "a few reservations didn't show up." I then ask since our order isn't ready could we be seated and have our meal inside the restaurant. The server informed me that, that wasn't possible. He wasn't able to make the change. The icing on the bad service cake. As we waited, another couple walked up. You guessed it, "we don't have a reservation and wanted to see if you had a table available?" The same server, "give me a second and I can get you seated."Honestly, I would have cancelled the order as the tone and attitude was horrible. Unfortunately, I had already paid. We grabbed our food and headed back to our hotel only to find no utensils in the bag. The lasagna was good. I'd pass on the cacio e pepe. However, all of this was completely overshadowed by the service. In the end, I wish I had read the reviews prior as this seems to be an ongoing issue with service.

Disgusting people work here!!! Disgusting humans who feel too powerful for their own good. There is trillions of places with good food. Don't waste your time on this ugly place. We had a reservation for 4. We called several times to change it to 2 and no one picked up. We even looked for an email address and none existed so we went as far as message on Instagram to be NICE. We get here... the bald headed rude man name David (who apparently is the manager) said we were going to be charged for the cancelation of the two people AND we couldn't be seated!!!!! I showed him the calls, the messages, he said I should have texted back.. but when I text back I get an error message. Then after I started arguing with him he said we could sit at the bar when something was available. Two mins later someone walked in for four, he goes "oh, look great no cancelation fee!" You must be joking????? This is how you treat people???? I will NEVER coming back to this dingy little place. If people like him are hired here then you know it's just bad vibes all around. Don't waste your time on this piece of crap and rude, bad energy people. If you want good pasta go to Don Angie's, Via Catora, Charlie Bird or Carbone. You'll get good food AND good service. This place will treat you like crap. I hope this places closes.

We are Covid averse and we’re perfectly happy to accept a 4:30 PM outside table - others might not. But the inside seating is rather close. We were very happy outside in beautiful weather. Unusual menu was very interesting and the dishes we ordered were great. Wonderful service by Chris

While I Sodi remains one of the hardest restaurants in NYC to get a reservation, the lasagna is so worth it. Intimate atmosphere but great vibes and service, not snooty like some tough to get in NYC restaurants.

So I've never actually heard of this place as a New Yorker however, it's obviously hard to hear of every single establishment in this great city LOLMy cousin and I scheduled a very very last minute date to meet up and she was recommended this place by a colleague. The place opened at 4, she got there at 5:45 (i was sitting in my car to avoid a ticket) she texted me that all tables were full and there was a 2 1/2 hour wait. I told her no way that's ridiculous and let's just sit at the bar. Bar was FULLWe were immediately disheartened and ended up going somewhere nearby (I will not disclose where since this place deserves its credit) Anyway plot twist, we were going to hit a bar and she shows me a text from I Sodi that a bar seat will be available in 10 mins. We took this as a sign and went right back!!!Though we had just ate, once you step foot in this place, the AIR alone, you can test the food. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced. So, we ended up ordering the spinach ricotta ravioli (we shared it was about 12 nicely stuffed raviolis) and we ordered the bread. This ravioli, IS THE BEST RAVIOLI I've ever had in my entire life. (And I've had my share!!!) it was light, it was fresh. The bread and the OIL! Omg. Amazing. We paired it with a Negroni Terra (recommended by our awesome bartender/waiter Chris) absolutely delicious and will be coming back once I try and get a reservation!! **definitely try and book a reservation first
