Delicious!
Excellent Dinner! With no reservation , we tried to get in for an early dinner after a matinee show . We were lucky to get in with only a 30 minute wait. We shared bread , two appetizers and two pasta plates and we were so happy with our selections. They had specials which we were intrigued with and were not disappointed. The pasta with lamb was my favourite dish. We also ordered the lemon pasta which was a perfect complement to the lamb. If you love Italian food this is a gem!
Be the first to ReplyVery Disappointing, No Reservations Taken!
I was trying to get my boss a reservation at I Sodi and I was told that unfortunately they couldn't accommodate my request because the majority of the seating is saved for walk-ins which is very odd. I even requested the reservation a month before so I thought and hoped that they would accommodate this business dinner. Very unfortunate and strange that reservations aren't taken considering this is in NYC!
Be the first to ReplyA Solid Night of Dining
We made our way into i Sodi one night without a reservation. Despite a wait with many others at the door they kindly found room for us at the bar. We found this to be a place of simplicity. Both in the decor, the vibe and the food. The menu is quite vast. The dishes are very approachable and we were torn trying to narrow down our selection. We selected the house bread, burrata with prosciutto, chestnut tortilla and the lemon pappardelle. All were outstanding. Don't even think about getting fresh ground pepper or Parmesan sprinkled on top (although I imagine they would accommodate). The plate is delivered to you the way the chef intended. A bottle of pecorino suited the meal admirably. Both the front of house host and the bartender treated us well. All menu questions were answered with firm knowledge. This was a real solid night of dining.

A very disappointing experience. We booked a table for 8:45pm as we had plans for afterwards. We were kept waiting until 9pm. We shared a lasagne to start which I must say was really nice. However the two mains - Rabbit and the short rib were disappointing. The Rabbit was dry and so fatty and the short rib was far too rich. We booked for a special occasion which was not even mentioned while we were there. Even just a word of congratulations would have been nice. I also found the staff stuck up. We have visited many high end and well sort after restaurants and as paying customers we were always made to feel welcome. Here I felt unwelcome as a tourist, as if the restaurant was only interested in locals or celebrities. A shame as we were really looking forward to it but I wouldn’t go back to this place.

My husband and I visited I Sodi thanks to our friends getting us a reservation. This place did not disappoint! The staff and food were incredible. We had the artichoke salad, burrata, lasagne, pasta with oxtail, short ribs and panna cotta. All were delicious and the portions were plentiful. We will be back to this gem of a place.
Be the first to ReplyBest meals our trip to New York!
Best meal of our trip to New York. Reservations are impossible to get, but went with our good friend who lives nearby, is a regular and we thankfully got right in. Our server, Chris, was friendly. Professional and warm. Every dish was simple, but delicious, made with the highest quality ingredients. We started with a round of Negronis and the fried artichokes which were so crispy, salty and highly addictive! Then we ordered a bottle of exquisite Chianti and had two salads between the 4 of us - the Valeriana (mache, pecorino and balsamic vinegar) and the Rucola e Castelmagno (arugula w/ castelmagno cheese) - both were incredible - and the arugula was just 3 ingredients - arugula, olive oil and cheese - but again, perfection. For our next course, We split 2 pastas, the Cacio e Pepe (spaghetti chiatarra w/ black pepper and pecorino) - one of the best I've had - and spinach Ravioli Burro e Salvia (spinach and ricotta ravioli in a traditional butter and sage sauce) - so good. For our entree, the 4 of us split the Ribeye special "for 2" - but it more than fed 4. We ordered it medium, which was perfect for us - still very pink, more like a medium rare. So flavorful. Also had a side of the spinach (very fresh) and the dainty peas (purposefully well-cooked, but a little mushy for me). Then, we saved just enough room for two affogatos which were incredible, and one espresso martini, such a warm, cozy, friendly place. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and hope we are able to return next time we're in town.

There were 5 of us. The server was wonderful and making suggestions. We got a lamb dish, basic spaghetti, spinach ravioli (not my favorite as I am not a spinach fan but was for table) the sauce on the ravioli was wonderful. Noodle dish with cream sauce. The food, service and whole experience exceptional. I would gladly recommend this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyI Sodi disappoints
This was my third time to I Sodi and I came from out of state to take a friend that is Italian and cooks beautifully. I Sodi has gone downhill. I was so disappointed( as was she) and I will never return as there are too many wonderful restaurants to choose from in NYC! We waited 1 hour in line to get in since making a reservation seems impossible. The server was extremely rude and rushed us which made the experience most unpleasant. It appeared that the bar seating added more seats so everyone was squished and there were empty tables. The cocktail and anti pasta were tasty but The meat lasagna was so dry and the cold grated cheese on top unappetizing. Not worth the effort to get into I Sodi for an okay meal and poor experience!

First time, amazing meal. Crispy artichokes were spectacular. All the pasta dishes were fantastic, lasagna, Cacio e pepe, lamb special, lemon sauce. Rabbit was delicious. Nice portions. We had leftovers, yah!! Great cocktails and service. So lucky to get a reservation!!
Be the first to ReplyIn love - and can't go back soon enough
Okay my husband and I are a Rita-Jody fan couple....we love all their restaurants (and I am now the proud owner and user of their new Via Carota cookbook). We had not been able to get into i Sodi for awhile so we reverted to the walk in trick - you show up when they open (now 4:30) and you might get a seat at the comfy bar. Well we went on successive nights and got in both nights for two sensational meals. Over the two nights we had the arugula salad, the mache, the endive and walnuts. We had the tagliatelle with carmelized onions, a ravioli, others that were specials of the day. Dessert yes. Great drinks one night, wine the other. Rita Sodi runs a phenomenal kitchen. Love the bar staff. You do not feel second class in any way. We get to NYC every month for work now that we work remote. Well we are going back soon and our first dinner will at the bar.
Be the first to ReplyOne if the yummiest Italian meals I've had....EVER!!!
My daughter and I have been on a 3 year mission to eat at all the best Italian establishments in NYC, especially downtown. I Sodi stands at the top of the list which includes: Via Carota, L'Artusi, Rezdora, Palma, Don Angie, Babbo. While I prefer the atmosphere of some of these others over I Sodi, I just absolutely loved the food. We ordered the Beef Lasagne which melted in my mouth. It was the most delicate lasagne I have ever had. We also ordered the lemon pepper pasta which was delicious.
Be the first to ReplyOverhyped restaurant with average food
Not sure why this place is so hyped up. The fried artichokes and cabbage salad were recommended to us by our server and they were both okay. There needed to be a sauce/dip with the artichokes. Their lasagna (the most well known item on the menu) was dry and salty. The only thing I really liked was the pappardelle with lemon and it didn’t even have much of a lemon taste. Not worth the aggravation of trying to get a reservation on Resy. There are so many better Italian restaurants in the area, I wouldn’t come back here.
Be the first to ReplyAs good Italian dining you will find in NYC.
From the greeting at the door by Chris, through the presentation of the specials and detailed knowledge of the dishes on the menu, the experience of fine dining Italian style was top notch. After an appetizer of anti pasta and perfect tartar, three of us chose a family style presentation lasagna al sugo, hand torn pasta with oxtail and tagliatelle con cipolla which gave us a variety of home made noodles perfectly sauced with a range of rich flavors. For those not keen on sharing, a dish of rigatoni noodles was savored. All in all, everyone agreed we had as nice Italian dining as any of us had experienced before and to a person each of us would go again to enjoy the menu selections we missed the first time.

I understand it is hard to book this place - we lucked out. It feels like one of those cozy neighborhood spots that just happens to have fantastic food. While we waited for our spot at the bar, I had a delicious Negroni. At the bar, we tried the lasagne, the deep fried artichokes, the cacio e pepe, and a rib eye with arugula - all were fantastic. The cacio e pepe was flavorful, yet subtle. After dinner, there were so many bottles of Amaro at the bar, we had to taste a couple. Fine way to finish off a delicious meal.

This place continues to deliver some of the best Italian food anywhere. Sublime negronis - there must be some alchemy involved - and truly simple but astounding pasta .Go!
Be the first to ReplyCramped ,Dark Dump with no possibility of Making Reservations
This place has a crazy reservation system. The host is very dumb.He told me I couldn’t sit at the bar unless I have a reservation. he told me I can’t make a reservation then but “could come back later” Is he hallucinating? The place looks like a tiny dump and they pretend they’re so “In Demand”? I’d rather go to Babbo Marea, Fiorello or Gabriel’s or any legit high end place and be treated better and have Michelin rated food. Apparently, the owner of I Sodi thinks she’s the best chef in Greenwich Village cause she owns a few other places-the other one is no better! Unfortunately, the place is Not Carpe Diem but rather Run for the Hills!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing meal, private exclusive feel
We had heard great things about I Sodo so we put our name in just in case they had a cancellation. We got it! It was a delicious meal from appetizer to dessert! We had a great experience. Thanks for a memorable evening.
Be the first to ReplyGreat
We are Covid averse and we’re perfectly happy to accept a 4:30 PM outside table - others might not. But the inside seating is rather close. We were very happy outside in beautiful weather. Unusual menu was very interesting and the dishes we ordered were great. Wonderful service by Chris
Be the first to ReplyWhat is all the fuss about?
What is all the fuss about???? We woke up at midnight to grab this “hot”reservations for a Saturday night at a less desired 9:30. Getting to the minuscule restaurant is an ordeal of one way streets through the Village. And while the cocktails were excellent the food really disappointed with cold pasta that was over sauced and inedible. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyA piece of the Tuscan countryside in the west village
I sodi is the best. It is worth the difficulty of getting a table or seat at the bar for walk-ins. Aged fiorentina is excellent but really everything on the menu is worth trying.

Incredible food, fabulous drinks, impeccable service. A true local gem for perfect pasta and more. Get in if you can!
Be the first to ReplyBest meal of the trip
We tried both I Sodi and Lilia back to back and we liked I Sodi the best of the two. The food was excellent at both so you can’t go wrong with either but I Sodi just seemed smaller and more quaint. The dishes we ordered - the usual menu items not specials - were stellar. Service was exceptional and friendly and you can tell the dishes are created with incredible care. The meat (or artichoke) lasagna is the most popular dish and it’s really good unless you like a saucy lasagna with less than a dozen layers but the flavour is top notch. The fried artichokes were also a hit. This place books 45 days out in advance and according to Resy it books up within a minute of tables coming available and it’s true from my experience.

Food was bland and presentation was poor. I was so disappointed with the food here. It was not easy to get a reservation so maybe our expectations were too high. The pasta was bland, the polenta looked like a bowl of porridge and waitstaff seemed stress. The chicken and fish were overwhelming for the plate (The only item on it) and very unappealing to look at it. And then the sides you have to order separately. The endive salad and the artichoke salad were good but not worth the expensive tab.
Be the first to ReplyArrogant and unprofessional service and overpriced.
My partner and I visited I Sodi after it was recommended highly by a friend. We had researched into the restaurant on Instagram and online and were really excited to try it.
I myself come from London and my parter is Italian, so we are used to high standards when it comes to dining.
What can I say.. we were very disappointed to say the least. The man behind the bar was very cold and quite arrogant. He spoke to my partner in a very rude and condescending way when she asked him if he was Italian (he was not, in fact they were all American- not ideal for an authentic Italian experience)
The food was good but for the prices we expected more. We found it to be extremely overpriced.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, when we arrived my partner gave her coat to be put in the cloakroom. She was given a ticket number to retrieve it later. When we came to leave, she asked for her coat and a member of staff pointed to it; it was just chucked on a bench by the toilets where people were waiting. It was a very expensive coat and had valuables inside. In a place like this you expect that your belongings are kept safe and out of harms way. Anyone could have walked off with it or taken something from the pockets.
Really disappointed and won’t be recommending to anyone.
If you want a better meal, with better service and a more authentic Italian vibe, head a few doors down to Fiaschetteria. Beautifully fresh ingredients, every member of staff is Italian and friendly. Go there instead!
Worth the wait
Difficult to get in there but so worth it. We sat at the bar and shared the most amazing antipasti and pasta. The lasagna was excellent as was everything else. The wine was very very good and even the lower priced ones can be highly recommended. They know their stuff here
