Il Veliero Ristorante Pizzeria Bologna Reviews from The Last Year
Il Veliero: Sailing with Great Food and Service
After having seen how mobbed this restaurant was mid-week for lunch, we made a reservation for a dinner. Long menu with many choices. We ordered two pizzas and two salads, a bottle of wine, and left stuffed and happy. Had Angelo as a server professional, efficient and quite a sense of humor. We plan to return to try other dishes!
Great Service and Food
First night in Bologna, and we were fortunate to select this great place. Pizzas were excellent and were served soon after ordering, even though the place was packed. The pasta dishes were generous and seafood brilliant. Service was very friendly and very efficient given how busy it was. When we left, there was a queue outside of about a dozen people waiting for a table, so clearly a big favourite for both locals and tourists. Recommend you book.
Useful for the time: you can eat early
Effective restaurant not far from the train station, convenient if you have to travel also because it opens quite early compared to the normal canonical lunch and dinner times. Characteristic environment linked to the theme of the name of the place (sailing ship, therefore nautical). Friendly service with polite and well-dressed staff. Fairly large menu, including pizza. Correct portion and normal prices for a restaurant of this range. I try tortellini with ragu and spinach with butter (plenty of it). With a bottle of water and cover charge I spend around 20 euros.
nice decorated room
Pizza is nice, but other dishes, such as seafood are not fresh, smell bad, and the price is not affordable, perhaps it's a touristic restaurant. We went there with 3 Asian people and were assigned small table next to toilette, though most of the table were still available. We complained about the small space and the waiter added one more table, but we did not like it at all. It's close to the hotel we stay during the business fair and we sometimes go there, but I don't think we will visit there again, as we found better restaurant nearby.
THE TOP OF BOLOGNA!
Always a certainty at Veliero. Excellent dishes, low prices, quality food. I couldn't ask for anything better. Excellent and fast service. Usual open-air pizzeria, beautiful. Mario the owner is humble and really deserves a lot for the commitment and dedication he gives in his restaurant. Compliments !!!!!!!!!!
Excellent food. Helpful staff.
A great local restaurant serving excellent pastas and pizzas. The tagliatelle bolognaise was scrumptious. A slightly eccentric maritime vibe inside, but don’t be deterred. Excellent food.
Tourists and babies are a nuisance and are not welcome.
Our last stop after spending a week touring northern Italy and having enjoyed countless magnificent gastronomic experiences with my wife and 7-month-old baby was Bologna. On the recommendation of the hotel receptionist we headed to this restaurant. We arrived, everything was full (or that's what they told us at least) and they made us wait half an hour in the street. While the Italian groups, couples or families continued entering as they arrived. As they saw that we were not leaving and we were at the door waiting for “our turn,” they told us to sit at a table where there was no possibility of leaving the baby's chair nearby. When they asked for explanations and asked for another table, they basically invited us to leave. Nothing like this had ever happened to me in my life.
An evening in Bologna
An evening in Bologna in the company of friends to eat a pizza 🍕 we went to the pizzeria il veliero, the pizza was excellent and the place was beautiful in a maritime style, fair prices and bon appetit
Excellent
I've been to eat in this place, the humility and courtesy of the owner is unique, I will definitely go back! Excellent quality of food and very quick service! I highly recommend it!
Dinner in Bologna
Everything was good, the fresh products, the exquisite pizzas, we loved it, you have to reserve because it gets crowded, to make a drawback, the sweet, the canone was not like the one I ate in Napoli.
This is my first time in Bologna, and my first meal in the
This is my first time in Bologna, and my first meal in the city - still, I've had amazing food in Saigon, Ha Noi, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans, Vancouver, Barcelona, Sydney, etc. so make of this review what you will. We came from a few days of great food in Rome and this was, the best meals by far. My boyfriend thinks I'm being dramatic but I did tell him: if I die tomorrow - I would be happy that was my last meal. It was 11pm on a Sunday and there were a few tables taken by local Italians (?) when we got there. We ordered the amatriciana pizza, the plate of salami, and the tagliatelle in ragu sauce. Totaled to 42 Euro - it's one of the more economical dinner we've had while in Italy! Plus, 3 Euro for 1/4L carafe of wine was a steal. The waitstaff is very no-nonsense, professional, knew exactly when to bring out the dishes, knew when I was done, and when we needed something. You know how people told you you'll eat so well when you go to Italy? This meal at Il Veliero helped me to understand why. Stop reading reviews and just go here!

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
