if you think im a picky eater, wait til you meet my mum.
brought her to imperial treasure teochew fine dining and thought i can order all my favs. but upon browsing the menu, my mum told me she dont really like braised duck, dont eat 'spare parts', no chili, no sour and if can no deep fried. that means my hope to order teochew famous braised meats and intestines, steamed pomfret with tomato and salted vege can all dissappear in thin air. . in the end, i ordered hor fun with kailan and radish, iberico pork with mustard greens and prawn and crab balls. she enjoyed everything. phew! we wrapped up dinner with dessert each - white fungus with red date for her and mine, or nee. im glad she enjoyed dinner tremendously. . price isnt the cheapest here but i love the food. although i must remind myself not to order the prawn and crab balls next time because each of them cost $10 a pop, when i can get 4 for $1.60 from old chang kee.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best Shanghai cuisine.
All the dishes were excellent, service was great, and the ambience was cozy. My favorites were the smoked chicken, Pomfret congee(not in photos), and satay horfun. Did not try the fried egg with oyster omelette as I was going to be traveling. Will certainly come back for the Beijing duck and oyster omelette on my next trip.
Be the first to ReplyTL;DR: Generally, don't bother.
For the price, there are tastier and more filling options nearby.Visited Imperial Treasure on a Thursday evening, and was drawn in by their weekday meal set ($16), which has different selections of a main dish, dim sum, and dessert. I went with that, ordering the Roasted Duck with Noodles for the main, and Siu mai and Salted Egg Yolk Buns for the dim sum and dessert respectively. The ambience was alright, given its location in a mall, though being seated so near to a walkway of shoppers did dampen the experience.Though I was seated and ordered quickly, they took a while to bring out the dishes. In fact, when my Roasted Duck came to the table, the Duck was barely lukewarm. Alongside the noodles being so saturated with oil that they were borderline dripping, it was not a pleasant eating experience. The sides dissapointed as well, with the Siu Mai being bite-sized and the Salted Egg Yolk Bun leaking its filling before I managed to even get around to eating it. I had ordered water as well, which I found out they charged a dollar for. I left the restaurant still mostly hungry and wishing I had spent my dinner somewhere else.I won't be returning, and if you want some actually good Duck Noodles or Dim Sum, i recommend visiting a local stall instead of this restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyDinner at Imperial Treasure Fine ShanghaiService was
Dinner at Imperial Treasure Fine ShanghaiService was abominable!Reserved 3 hairy crabs and was at first told all sold out last night despite being informed that I had reserved them. Then was told that I had reserved so they had the 3 crabs. Then was told that there were only 2 crabs. The same waitress asked which type of tea I wanted at 3 different times. I said Pu Er 3 times. She isn't old enough to have such a bad memory and there were hardly any customers at 6.30 p.m. The restaurant was only full after 8 p.m. Another waitress poured tea but it was so light. I asked that the tea be steeped before serving. Turns out they served the wrong type of tea. Then the waitress kept saying that I needed to order more because there's not a lot of food. So I did. Of course there was too much food. I requested for the hairy crabs to be cracked properly. They did but it seems that they don't usually do that. For the price, I would have expected it. 5-Star price but service is not 5-Star.Then we had 4 waiters/waitresses staring at us while we ate. Why? Because they were too darn free. They cleared plates and didn't replace them. They took away the lime dishes for handwash when we still had another dish of lobster. Such poor service. Our economy is not good now. People are losing their jobs, shopping centres are empty, GrabCar Drivers are complaining about super low incentives and few passengers. Yet the standard of service in Singapore is generally poor. Sigh!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic oyster omelette, that is fragrant, perfect tinge
Fantastic oyster omelette, that is fragrant, perfect tinge of crispy infused with fatty juicy tasty oysters spread across the dish. Probably the best oyster omelette I ever had! The taste across all dishes is generally very refined, even with their soups, for example in a chicken broth that is boiled to its fullness and very tasty whilst maintaining a rather clear clean taste. The sour plum fish came with an abundance of appetising gravy which is a plus for soup lovers. A yummy meal no doubt, though somewhat pricey and be prepared for a queue during peak dinner hours. An enjoyable experience nonetheless!

We are big fans of the Imperial Treasure Group, and used to go to its first restaurant - the Teochew outlet at Ngee Ann City - at least once a month until it closed down towards the end of 2016. This is the first time we've been to the Ion Orchard branch. With the move, it has added "Fine" to its name, the menu is now more focused on Teochew dishes (many Cantonese dishes are gone, as well as the "Yin Yang" (tomato and cream sauces) fried rice which one of my sons loved), and prices have moved up. The décor is also more refined, but still very 'Imperial Treasure' in style - ie. elegant and understated, much less screaming than its counterparts at Crystal Jade and Paradise groups. What is somewhat unique is the most attentive and professional service by a loyal, low-turnover staff, who REMEMBER old customers like us by name, but treat all patrons with the same courtesy and efficiency. I believe Michelin inspectors are lousy at rating Asian restaurants (be it Chinese, Indian, or Japanese) anywhere (be it Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, or Paris, London), so I don't know if the one star here is well-deserved. There are many Chinese restaurants in Singapore which are as good as this one (in fact, I believe the Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck at Paragon is better), but for an overall dining experience (including service and ambience), this is certainly up there.

Love. Love that there are so crazy lines (like paradise dynasty at ion or the ding-tai-fengs), love that the food is awesome, love that the price is reasonable and love that there is amazing service! We have tried so many dishes over multiple visits. Imperial treasure restaurants are great in maintaining consistencies and great food at fair prices. This is definitely one of my favorites in the chain (their super Peking duck at Paragon tops this for me). Soup dumpling (the Xiao long baos) are the best in the city (in my opinion!) beautifully thin translucent skin, wrapped around a sweet rich meaty broth and meat. It's even better than those in the famed Ding-tai-fengs. The other ala carte dishes are mostly great. Noodle dishes are good too, since it's a Shanghainese restaurant after all.And they take reservations! So save your time and come get your soup dumplings here.
Be the first to ReplyThere are a few Imperial Treasure Restaurants in Ngee Ann
There are a few Imperial Treasure Restaurants in Ngee Ann City (Imperial Treasure Nan Bei, Imperial Treasure Shanghai Cuisine), so make sure you go to the right one. If you are meting up with a friend, make sure you clarify which restaurant you are going to as they are all located within a stone's throw away of each other. I would recommend making a reservation. The price is a little higher than Crystal Jade's, but the dim sum is excellent. You have to fill out a sheet of paper to indicate which dim sum dishes you want. I would recommend getting the fried carrot cake in XO sauce, which is delicious. You will also be served a strong shot of tea before the meal. I guess it s nice way to wake you up before the meal so you will remember good it was. Service is good. I really enjoyed the quality of the food, I ate the usual har kow, siew mai, chee cheong fun, a bunch of different dumplings. No complaints. In fact, it was so good, I definitely overate but I don't regret it. i will be back.
Be the first to ReplyReally nice food, good quality and in a pleasant ambience.
Had the Xiao long Bao which were excellent - in my opinion better than Din Tai Fung. Skin was translucent thin and filling / gravy was tastier than DTF. Noodle dishes were good too - no overpowering flavours or greasiness. We had two noodles, a Xiao long Bao and a pot of tea for $33, which was very reasonable I think.

All workers were attentive and polite. Would definitely come again!
Be the first to Replythis place does it for us when we want truly good, refined
this place does it for us when we want truly good, refined cantonese food - which is all at once classy and nostalgic at the same time. gorgeous space, fantastic food.the restaurant predominantly booths (spacious for four, probably tight for six), dark furnishings and well-placed white light. it's a little more intimate, but still very much in a posh-family sorta' way.when you're in a cantonese/ teochew restaurant, always start with a bowl of soup - it opens the palate in a clear, savoury manner that entices but never overwhelms. and while I don't have a picture for you here, any of their double-boiled clear soups would do you well (I like the melon one).jellyfish is always a must-order, and definitely when the imperial treasure restaurants serve the delectable crunchy head. we tried something new with this braised beancurd and belly pork laid over with mildly-chewy slices of squid (very nostalgically tinted orange on the exterior), and it was pretty darn good.they've got some serious food cred here, with skills to the sky in expertly sauteing meats and seafood (like those shell-on prawns that are well-worth the peeling effort - or just eat them whole, eh?).our utter favorite: the diced beef cubes topped with crispy slivers of garlic. impossibly tender like filet mignon, proper browned outside with a good sear, and sauced with a dark brown savoriness, it's really rather amazing.fried rice comes well-seasoned and expertly fried till moist but loose and tender, strewn between with slivers of egg and sliced asparagus, and those free-form patties were tender with tofu and prawn.I'm trying not to be too bombastic with praise - I rather worried I might have over done it in the last post - but this restaurant truly is a family favorite. we return nearly every month and a half at least (if we make effort to try new things), go through as much of the menu as we possibly can, and always have a great time.props for awesomeness.
Be the first to Replywe came to Singapore for a stop over on our trip back to
we came to Singapore for a stop over on our trip back to the US. It's my boyfriend's favorite place in Singapore. We met up with his old student, and some good friends of his. Good food and great company! What can go wrong? We ordered a LOT of food! Peking duck with pancakes, these are always my favorite dish to order. The skin was crisp and not greasy in the least! And they even wrap the duck and skin and green onions for you. they don't do that in the states! long beans with garlic. always a great dish. hor fun noodle dish, that was quite tasty. We also had a tofu dish and 2-3 others, but everything we ordered was delicious with amazing service! Definitely will be back to this place the next time we are in Singapore.
Be the first to ReplyService: Yay and Nay.
On one hand, it's good to have the waitresses be on standby at all times to change the plates, take orders etc. But it gets pretty irritating when I'm obviously not done with my food and the waitress comes asking us if she could clear the dish. What really pisses me off is that she's not even making the effort to ask politely. 'You don't want this already right?' with an irritated face instead of 'Do you still want this dish?'Food: Good but not fantastic. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the price. One small plate of seafood crispy noodles cost $20. I have to admit that the scallops (although only 2) taste pretty fresh. But still, I think some tze char stall might have even better offerings at $6-8/ plate. Overall: Won't exactly be going back anytime soon unless I get a treat :P
