Not the best ramen I've had in the city, but it's a solid
Not the best ramen I've had in the city, but it's a solid spot to get rid of your ramen craving. The staff is quick and friendly and our service was great. We both got the SHIROMARU MOTOAJI ramen (one with pork and one with chicken) and we both added a marinated egg. The egg is a must add! The broth is rich and the noodles are nice and chewy. The chicken bun tasted like an elevated Asian-inspired McChicken (in the best way possible!). The dessert - the Yuzu Apple Tart - wasn't our favorite. It had an odd texture. I would also recommend having reservations. By the time we left there was a crowd of people waiting to be seated. If in the area, we'd come back again!

Food was amazing, staff can be less enthusiastic but I understand because the place is constantly packed. It has such an authentic ambiance and amazing anime drawings on their menus. Feels incredibly immersive and small-town vibes.

Spicy ramen was flavorful but, unfortunately, the staff was incredibly rude and ruined the experience. The staff was very curt and clearly wanted to turn over our table from the moment we sat down. Felt very rushed. Upon paying the bill and leaving a tip reflective of poor service, the waitress came to our table with the tip circled on the receipt and questioned me about it. She proceeded to tell me that it was a low tip and that I should be understanding of their income being heavily dependent on tips. It was highly inappropriate and reflected poorly on the restaurant. Will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplySolid ramen place to scratch that itch.
One sad part is that the typical toppings I'll see don't come with it so make sure to get that (like the egg for instance).

The service was swift and reliable! The restaurant is neatly tucked away and the vibe is very chill inside. The food... a true highlight of my trip to NYC!! The edamame was perfectly salted and cooked to perfection. The gyoza were some of the best I've had to date. The ribs were ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! The miso ramen was a bit oily, but the flavor was well worth it. I will definitely be returning!

Never disappoints. Authentic broth and noodles. Sometimes a wait for a table but always worth it
Be the first to ReplyThe best ramen I have ever had.
Keeps me coming back to New York. The service is great and the cutest little restaurant. You will need a reservation because everyone loves this place.
Be the first to ReplyOverall, ippudo was good experience.
The ramen was good, nothing extraordinary. I got the Karaka ramen which spice level was good, I expected it to be more creamier which is how i prefer my ramen. My boyfriend got the Yuzu Shoyu which had fish dashi which made it a lil saltier but still very flavorful. The customer service was straight to the point, my boyfriend mentioned they should be more hospitable. Such as asked if we needed more things, if everything is okay, etc. I personally love the lighting in the restaurant, makes the ambiance somewhat romantic. Even though, I hate how the two seats are so close to each other because if felt like the couple next to us, just listened to our conversation lol. but other than that, it was good.

I love spicy foods and I loved the karake ramen as it maintained the creamy broth balance with the spicy flavor. I'm such a fan and came back twice to have this! It's a nice dinner spot and service was very fast
Be the first to ReplyFinally, trying the ramen and karaage at Ippudo Westside.
I left nothing behind in the bowl of Akamaru Shinaji. The broth is slightly thick, almost creamy. The noodles were al dente, if I may use this term with Japanese food. The red sauce adds another element to the bowl. That pork belly is unctuous. Now the karaage, I had to use my hands/fingers. It's appropriate when eating fried chicken, right? It was 2 chicken thighs cut in half thus 4 pieces. Perfectly cooked. The seasoning and coating is delicious. The restroom is beyond the black saloon doors. 3 restrooms: unisex, woman and man. The staff were patient with me and answered all my questions - I asked 3 or 4 questions regarding food and popular menu items. Everyone was happy and friendly with each other.

The servers are a bit inattentive but Ippudo has the best ramen in town. I've only had better ramen in Japan. And unlike the downtown Ippudo, you can actually get a table here quite easily. Stylish place to get ramen, befitting of the price tag. The pork buns are also delicious.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the better ramen spots in NYC in the heart of HK.
Would recommend this as a great client event or date spot. If you like ramen and buns they have a great spread. I had the chicken bun and it was soft and warm with delicious fried chicken. I'd recommend this.

Ippudo used to be our go-to ramen place in the area and believe me there are plenty of places from which to choose. This last visit was not so much about the food as it was about the service. Expect a wait as they're always busy. We don't mind the wait but we do expect some accurate information when we put in our name. There is someone in front who enters our name for 2 people into her iPad and tells us it will be a 20 minute wait. We wait but then see other parties who came after us get called to be seated before us. We go up the hostess who took our name and reminded her we had already been waiting 20 minutes and have a show to catch. She then runs off somewhere and we see her go to clear some counter space, presumably for us but no, it's for another party. The 20 minute wait became a 45 minute wait so finally by the time we were seated we quickly surveyed the menu and tried to order the quickest thing, a bowl of ramen, a sushi roll and some chicken appetizer. We waited about 10 minutes for the server to come back to our area to take our order. There seems to be a trend of the hostess and server disappearing for a significant amount of time after making initial eye contact with us. We can see the kitchen from where we were sitting at the counter and we know the server wasn't there putting in or taking out orders. Our server was no where to be found so I was curious where she might have gone for so long? We seriously thought she might have taken a break because it was quite a while before she returned to take our order. While apologizing for making us wait would have been appropiate, she seemed annoyed when we tried to flag her down. We were just trying to let her know we were trying to make a show. Did she go to the other room and serve other customers? We had no idea. Now we were getting nervous because we had been waiting altogether about an hour and we didn't even order yet and the theater is about 6 blocks away. After she finally took our order, my bf got his ramen and chicken pretty quickly but my $20 shrimp tempura sushi roll still didn't arrive. I told my bf to start first and eat the ramen and not wait for my order to arrive. When my roll finally arrived, my bf was done with his ramen and I was rushing to eat my sushi so we could get to the show on time. Are they understaffed? Also, both the hostess and the server in particular, simply ignored us several times during this 1 hour wait. We just wanted to make the server aware we were trying to make a show but she seemed to not have a method to her excessive motions, told us she would get to us soon and never apologized for making us wait the 10 minutes after waiting 45 minutes to be seated. I found it rude she wasn't concerned that we had been waiting at her station and her demeanor was inappropriate. It's too bad that the service has diminished. It will be a while if we ever come back to Ippudo again.
Be the first to Replyto the people in recent reviews saying they have a vegan
to the people in recent reviews saying they have a vegan ramen option are FAKE vegans. their noodles have egg in them and the waitress said they haven't have a vegan noodle since 2019.... so if you're ACTUALLY vegan and want ramen this is not the place for you.
Be the first to ReplyCozy ramen bar which was perfect on a rainy afternoon.
The ramen broth was a bit on the lighter side which lacks the umami kick but has enough that it was still both flavorful and easy to drink. The pork chashu was a little tougher than expected, but not enough to ruin the dish. However, the best part of our meal was the pork bun which was perfect and juicy all-around.
Be the first to ReplyProbably one of the best dinners of my life.
Akamaru Modern Ramen was very flavorful, and the Classic Ramen was very refined and flavorful. This restaurant has amazing customer service, and our server was very hard working and polite. The vibe of the place is very bustling and happy. The only small gripe I have is that it is slightly pricy FOR ME (Tennesseean) but all in all is very affordable for New York. Wonderful 9.8/10

Ippudo was the restaurant that started the Ramen craze in NYC. And while now there are dozens (hundreds?) of great Ramen spots Ippudo still holds its own in the Ramen Wars (Can it really be a war or am I watching too much Food Network?).I have never had anything here that I disliked. Their delivery is even good as the food does not suffer in the trip. The Tonkotsu ramen is my go to though the spicy is very good also. It's interesting that I order the egg and it comes soft boiled even in delivery! Add a couple pork buns and I have achieved full carb coma. Smiling in a coma. In fact writing this has me on Uber Eats now.
Be the first to ReplySolid 4/5.
Ippudo is the perfect place to be if you want to get your ramen craving fill. Even though the prices are much higher than I remember pre-pandemic, the food is still good. I usually get the signature Akamaru ramen. Some people say that broth is really salty, but I think it flavors the noodles pretty well. Wouldn't recommend downing the broth though. Overall, it's a good spot- no complaints here!
Be the first to ReplySuper good - would try & recommend to friends & family.
Very cozy & in a cool location

Amazing authentic ramen , great service and chill atmosphere. Got there before the afternoon rush. We will be back for sure.
Be the first to ReplyBest ramen in Hells Kitchen.
Typically a 30-45 minute wait but definitely worth it. The ramen does cost more than your average shop but worth it if you want good quality within walking distance. Once you get past the bar the restaurant is fairly quiet allowing customers to have conversations without having to yell over one another. Great spot for a date or a tasty meal on a cold rainy night.
Be the first to ReplyLiterally can't say enough.

My friends and I visited Ippudo for dinner before watching Moulin Rouge. We didn't have reservations but arrived at 530 and were able to have our party of 3 seated right away. Happy hour specials are great and I took advantage of the deals on the Yuzu martini. We weren't that hungry and the bowl of ramen with an egg topping really hit the spot. We also had dessert. Food was served very quickly and you can be in and out in time for your show.

Such a great location! We were treated at the bar before we ate. Great sake and snacks like gluten free fried chicken. Had to remind bartender of our orders bc he was doing carry out too. Super busy even on week days.
Be the first to ReplyThe most impeccable Japanese restaurant I love eating
The most impeccable Japanese restaurant I love eating whenever I visit NYC! The taste and atmosphere mimics those from Japan so it's worth the price and the opportunity to eat. My friend and I came around 12pm and we had a brief wait to sit at the bar. We didn't want to sit at the tables since the bar was more brightly lit and had a better feel for the two of us. We each ordered our own ramen, plus their Aburi Unagiri and Oishii Karaage. Both appetizers were top notch and was amazing to the taste. I highly recommend trying both, especially if you enjoy fried chicken and unagi (eel). After dining, as we walked out, it was snowing outside and seeing it through their window was a nice scene to walk out to. The food and experience was worth waiting in the cold and it definitely filled us up before heading to MoMA.
