Very Nice Hotel
We have stayed here several times. We have stayed in the inn and in the Pinewood Lofts. Both are quite good. The inn is located at the Middle Falls, so an incredible view is a few steps away. Letchworth Park is absolutely beautiful, and staying at the Glen Iris Inn makes the experience even better.
Be the first to ReplyGreat location for seeing Letchworth SP
We have stayed here since yesterday. Tonight is our second night here. The Inn has a great location- right next to Middle Falls of Letchworth SP. It is a quaint lodging- shabbily chic and cozy. We can easily hike to Upper Falls or Lower Falls without moving our car. They provide good toiletries. There is an onsite restaurant- Carolineโs. We are usually easygoing and donโt expect much in term of food while visiting a park. The food and service of this restaurant leaves much to be desired, especially the hosts. We have had 2 dinners and one breakfast at the restaurant. Only the server tonight was good. He also asked us if we paid for the entrance pass $10. If we show him the ticket, he will deduct $10 off our check. The server of our dinner yesterday didnโt mention this at all. The park ticket is only good for one day. We paid for both days.

The best things about this Inn are its location and the public areas. It's an old home with quaint features. But the rooms are tiny and someone had the silly idea of covering them all in busy William Morris wallpaper which makes you feel you're inside a box. To make it worse, the furniture is clunky and there's too much of it, so you hit your knees on something every time you move. Get rid of the bed frames with big wooden ends that have scarred me for life, remove the useless armchair ( you can't sit on it - no room for your legs) and chest of drawers! The noisy fans in the bathrooms run constantly and the aircon/ heat is very noisy. The restaurant is okay, though the descriptions are better than the actual food. I hear the local B&B's are good. Might be a better choice.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant Stay!
We stayed in the Scotch Pine Room located above the inn. We were disappointed that we could not stay at the inn itself when we booked our reservation! We were pleasantly surprised on arrival. We had a microwave and refrigerator that we didn't expect. We would have planned breakfast and lunch differently and suggest bringing plates and utensils. There was a sofa as a small sitting area. There was a humidifier running that was a bit noisy but didn't bother us. Best of all, the view of the middle falls was fantastic! If you are at the inn itself, you can easily walk to the Middle Falls after dinner but really don't have a place to sit. After a day of hiking, we would have a drink at one of the picnic tables, shower then go to the Inn for dinner. After dinner, we would head back to the room and watch the falls at night. The food at the Inn was well portioned so that we ate half for dinner and half for lunch the next day. Prices are reasonable and comparable to a city prices. We don't use much salt when we cook so it was a touch salty for our tastes. However, we ate at the Inn all 3 nights of our stay. Definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyPerfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. Breakfast is expensive and subpar. The 2 twin room was comfy. No extra toiletries in t
It would have been better if they at least had a box of tissues in the room. Also,Beekman shampoo and conditioner in the shower, but I use the products, not. Very basic,I liked the Antique vibe,as this is what the Inn is about. Eat elsewhere, the breakfast is overpriced and just short order simple cook food. I brought bug spray and it's a must if you sit in the chairs at night. Also, any trail walks you will definitely need it. Price for the lodging good for location and mid week.
Be the first to ReplyPinewood Lodge-Mountain Room
I've been coming to Letchworth and the Glen Iris for over 20 years. I've stayed at the Glen Iris numerous times and always have a great experience. I've stayed at Pinewood Lodge twice, including this time. Upon entry the room is musty and damp. Even with the AC running, you can't get rid of it. For someone with breathing issues, this is problematic. The bed...is not comfortable at all. You sit on it and sink right down. Horrible sleeping experience. The coffee pot had water stains on it and didn't appear clean, but did use it because I was desperate for coffee at 7am. The toiletries in the shower are upscale, which was a nice touch. I was really disappointed with this room (Mountain). It won't deter me from staying at the Glen Iris again because it's amazing, but I won't stay in the lodge again. It's very clear the building has a moisture problem and charging $185/night is absurd.
Be the first to ReplyStay in the Pine Lodges!
We were in the Jack Pines room. The Pine Lodges are across the road from the Inn, on a bluff. You can walk 50 stone steps and cross over to Inn. The room was a very good size - the best part was we walked 30 feet away from our room, put up our camp chairs near the BBQ and enjoyed the Middle Falls view for hours! There are a total of 8 Lodge rooms and two lodge lofts. We were so happy to have this room. Plenty of space, nice mini fridge, microwave, two seated couch. Two chairs and table. The TV is on wall facing couch, so we put pillows at foot of bed to watch - no problem. Really happy with the Lodges.
Be the first to ReplyTwo couple lunch after waterfalls hike in the park 10/13
My wife and I spent several hours hiking around the Letchworth State park looking at beautiful waterfalls (see separate review, if the pictures ever download) and met another couple here for a late lunch. Pictures outside the Inn and of part of the dining area are attached.
The inn is above the middle falls, a viewing area is right out front (picture attached).
For the four of us we had three large salads (pictures of my spinach salad and my wifeโs southwest salad with chicken are attached),
The other guy has salmon filet that he like but said was a little dry.
Jennifer did a nice job helping us.
Keep in mind they will deduct the $10 park entrance fee from your bill!!
Grand Canyon of the east plus Niagara Falls
First the negative. I can't be any kinder, the room was SMALL. Enough on that. The positives, beautiful old house, fantastic scenery, extremely friendly and helpful employees. I wish I had kept track of their names. The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. We definitely will return!
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Wonderful Afternoon
We were two couples (one couple from Arizona). Lunch was delicious. Menu has a large variety of meals to choose. Three of us chose burgers of different styles - they were very happy with their choices. I chose the chef's omelet which was spinach and feta cheese with fruit cup and english muffin, since I did not have breakfast. It was tasty and generous. Wait staff was attentive and very courteous. We were at our table for quite along time (catching up) and did not feel rushed. We have always had a relaxing delicious meal at Glen Iris and will be back next year, if not before.

This is a very cool place but expect some old school issues. Our friendsโ room had a very loud, portable air conditioner in the middle of the room. Our roomโs thermostat was set at 60 degrees and we were unable to change it. The third floor library had a nice view of the falls, but was so hot you couldnโt enjoy it (another portable air conditioner trying to cool the room). The location could t be any better, though. You can overlook the falls with a glass of wine. The restaurant is also pretty good. Great breakfast.
Be the first to ReplyMajor Birthday Event for Wife and Me
We had been to the Glen Iris a few years ago, but were shocked by how its quality had eroded. Gone were the white tablecloths and welcoming atmosphere. Reservations were easy to make by phone, but upon arrival we were greeted with indifference. The meals were expensive with my NY strip lacking much in the way of flavor and was poorly trimmed. The cocktails were expensive and mediocre--I ordered my manhattan up with a twist, but it arrived on the rocks with a cherry. After sending it back it returned in the same glass without the cherry and ice. If there is one thing to recommend the Glen Iris it is the spectacular view of Letchworth Falls. In the future we'll go for the view and enjoy a meal elsewhere.

We toured Letchworth Park, and decided on lunch here on the veranda. Perfect timing, as it stated pouring heavily. My husband had the Reuben, I had the Angel in Heaven which was absolutely delicious!! Would have liked to stay here, but didnโt this trip. Loved the atmosphere on the veranda.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place to stay to make the most of a trip to Letchworth Park
This is a lovely, quaint inn with great views of the waterfalls from the front patio. The rooms are small (specifically Larch), but are well furnished and equipped. There are easy walks directly to the falls right from the front of the property. The large dinning room was good for dinner and breakfast, and there is an outside dining area for lunch and drinks. The creaky staircase and small corridors give the inn a lot of character.
Be the first to ReplyI LOVE the Glen Iris !
My friend and I wanted to explore Letchworth State Park and I made reservations at the GLEN IRIS. This old hotel is amazingly beautiful. Our room was small, but clean and had everything we needed. The third floor library is available for guest to gather or just to watch TV and maybe play cards. We had one meal in the restaurant (breakfast) and it was very good, and the server was friendly and helpful.
Be the first to ReplyHistoric Dining Spot in Letchworth
This is a fine choice for a bite to eat when spending the day at beautiful Letchworth State Park. For this review I will base it on dining only, because we were not guests at the inn for lodging. The Glen Iris offers both inside and outside dining options, but in colder weather forget eating outside here. However, the inside dining room where we ate was very spacious and the tables far enough apart so any worries about coronavirus were put aside. Service was good for our party of four, and the wait times to place our orders and get our food were about average.
We had lunch here on a fairly busy Saturday, but did not have to wait for a table (likely due to many people opting to not dine inside). The menu was good, but a few more main entrees would have been nice. It's primarily salads and sandwiches, but if you're looking for something more it would be a good idea to dine here later when their dinner menu applies. My burger was excellent, cooked to perfection and served on a fresh brioche bun. My wife enjoyed her Monte Cristo sandwich, but admitted she's had better ones elsewhere. Overall, everyone enjoyed their meals and it was a nice break from the extensive trails walking that you do at the park.
Prices at the Glen Iris are a bit on the high side, so be prepared. With beverages our four meals came to $84 and then $97 after the tip was added. But, the portions were good and nobody left the table still hungry when we finished.
Just a few minor complaints included having to keep after the waitress for soda refills and the parking (or lack of it) around this place. If the south entry gate to Letchworth is closed (the Portageville gate) you're forced to enter at the main gate at Castile. Once in the park if you seek parking in this area the hike to the restaurant is long and can be treacherous for older individuals. Best advice is to drive as far as you can to reach an area near the restaurant before setting off on foot.
But, overall it is still worth the effort to catch a bite at the Glen Iris Inn as you enjoy this beautiful state park. Just be sure to bring along a few extra dollars when you visit.
