Issima Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
Ok but not great service
This is supposed to be a higher end IHG hotel, but the service is about a 2/5. The lobby is very nice. I don't think the hallways or elevator entry areas were vacuumed at all during our several night stay. We asked both days for housekeeping; neither day our room was serviced. They used the texting app to contact us, but no one brought us what we needed or serviced the room when requested. We had one robe, no luggage racks (I had to ask 3 times for luggage racks and the robe), and I personally had to go get towels each evening when we had come back at 10 PM and our room had not been refreshed. The do not disturb was not on the door, and we did notify the front desk that we wanted the room refreshed. In addition, most hotels keep a few towels behind the desk. Both nights I waited 20 minutes for someone to go get me towels. The customer service is simply not there, and the communication with the texting app is ignored. We own an IHG hotel and stay in them all the time when we travel as well as other Kimpton properties. The bed was comfortable and the blackout shade worked well for being restful.
Kimpton La Peer: Luxury in Name, Letdown in Reality
Off to a great start, my great stay here came to a crashing halt when the power went out. I was escorted to my room by flashlight. At 3 am the lights came on again, courtesy the giant temp generator that was stationed right outside my room window. With the noise I could not sleep. Oh love the hidden charges here. Despise a $35 guest amenity fee.
Great Accommodations and Wonderful Staff!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the La Peer this weekend! The hotel has a wonderful vibe. The bar and pool area is so nice. The drinks are amazing! The staff at this hotel is super friendly and helpful in all regards. Big shout outs to Chris and his valet team for a warm welcome, and another huge shoutout to Ambre and the front desk staff for tending to all of our needs. We will definitely be back soon!
Would stay again
Hotel was fine and the decor is lovely! Overall the service needs some work, but the bar staff and valet teams were super friendly and great. Big shout out to Chris and his valet team for their great customer service. We look forward to staying with you guys again.
Stay Somewhere Else!
Prior to checking into this hotel, I met with the Manager to discuss my medical needs. I was assured that although there was a light fragrance in the lobby, there are no fragrances in guest rooms. Upon checking into my room, there was an overwhelming amount of fragrance in my guest room. During my stay I developed severe migraines and nausea due to the fragrance. I was unable to continue my stay at this property and was forced to check out early. I attempted to discuss with management and was not met with any compassion. I would never consider staying at this hotel again and if you desire any sort of customer service, I recommend you avoid this property.
Good hotel, but make sure to check your bill for overbilling
Hotel itself was fine, and the bar staff was great. However, after we checked out, we were overbilled twice for charges that should not have been charged, almost $50 in total. Make sure to check your bill after checkout for additional charges that should not be there.
Would avoid if possible
Avoid if at all possible. It was the worst service I've ever experienced in a 5 star hotel by far. The room was dirty as soon as we got there. Hair was on the bathrobes and dirt was around the bed. They forgot to clean the room multiple times over a week, didn't remove dishes, or deliver room service within a reasonable time. Everything tequires a follow-up. The front desk personnel are unhelpful whenever questions are asked about where to find things or if it's possible to have something delivered to the room. Lastly, there are about $110 of extra fees when staying ($65 for parking , $5 for hotel staff and $35 for ammenities). This hotel is a 4 star hotel masquerading as a 5 star.
Amari and the Valet Staff
This review is to highlight Amari and the valet staff. I drove up to the hotel with a very odd and specific request on behalf of a celebrity appearing in the WeHo Pride Parade. We needed a place to park our cars, then after the parade, have the parade car park, remove all the banners and signs and the entire speaker system from the parade car, have a shaded place for the celebrity to rest, unload water and snacks, release the limo, transfer the goods to the cars parked at the valet, etc. You get it. It was a logistical nightmare fit for Secret Service. Amari instantly smiled, gave me her personal cell phone number, and said, we got you, no worries. She confirmed a few days before the parade and the morning of the parade. We were not guests of the hotel. We received the standard hotel valet price and we were not upcharged like other valets in the area taking advantage of a special event to double or triple their prices. Amari never blinked an eye and took care of everything. Because of her, we were so relieved and relaxed on a very hectic day. That we were not even hotel guests and she went above and beyond for us is a testament to the hotel and the people they hire. Amari represented the hotel as a place that will follow through, do what they say they will do, show up for you and go above and beyond. Thank you, Amari!
Over priced and not at all luxury
We checked out early. The whole place was filthy. The elevator lobby had dust everywhere, our room had a copper bar sink that was stained, the bar under it was dusty and stained, the floor was wood and beat up, the upholstery on the chairs and sofa were stained, the foam broken down dirty. The shower had large containers of amenities, this just grossed me out to think that other people used the same container in the bathroom, it is not sanitary. The toilet didn't flush, the sink was too far forward so toothpaste fell on the counter, not the sink. Not enough towels, and what was there was not luxury. No electrical for the phone, and the safe wouldn't lock. By the way, this is hotel IHG rates as luxury. The staff is very nice. But the hotel design is an epic fail, the finish materials are not suitable for use and they can't withstand the wear. Shame on IHG technical team for allowing this. The hotel and the brand are grossly mismanaged, there isn't the staff for a luxury title. these 3 stars at best. It is a great location, and the restaurant next door Gracias Madre is delicious! vegan Mexican. The hotel food is way overpriced and way overhyped. I got a bowl of canned chickpeas with lemon and garlic for $19, not even a lame piece of pita to dip, that was extra. This place exemplifies what is wrong with the luxury market, merely charging more for a low-end hotel doesn’t make you luxury. Great service and great design with constant maintenance are luxuries. I should never see any sign of a previous guest's wear and tear.
love this hotel
Great experience! Hotel is awesome, great food and warm atmosphere. Loved the rooms, the cocktails, the pizza and the friendly service.Shout out to the parking concierge Brandon for helping sort out getting my car from parking during a busy morning.
Surprise Stay at Kimptopn
We spent two nights on a business trip at the Kimpton. I was very impressed with the service. There are some training defects evident but nothing that the management team can’t fix. For the purpose of this review I can totally over look this as it did not affect my stay in any way. The team members we interacted with from conference /catering, front of house staff to the team in the dining were excellent. The bartenders were also amazing and made some really great cocktails. The room was so comfortable. I enjoyed going to bed here each night and waking up to a great shower. The food was also tasty and well presented. I will be back when next in LA. Such a great accommodation option.
Top Notch Hotel. Super friendly staff, great Bar, great pool, great food and very relaxing room just like being at home!
Awesome hotel! Very close to several top notch restaurants. Lady Hawk Restaurant in the hotel was great! Soaking tub in the King Spa Room was so relaxing.great great great roof top area for relaxing and couple ball with bar and umbrellas. Highly recommend
Extra $700+ charge on top of paid room
They charged $700+ extra even though I paid with points through American Express, then pretend like the charge is normal. I had to dispute the charge with them. I believe this is not an honest mistake on the hotel's part. So, be careful if you book with points, always check your card's statement after because this is suspicious. The room was great though.
Beautiful hotel marred by poor maintenance and inconsistent service
The Kimpton La Peer is a gorgeous hotel in a prime West Hollywood location. Its proximity to the local LGBTQ+ nightlife is super convenient for travelers looking to enjoy that scene. However, the hotel suffers from poor maintenance and upkeep of its decor and furnishings. Lobby sofas were stained and unclean looking, grout in the bathrooms was strangely discolored (not dirty, but showing poor maintenance), and most disconcerting of all- the headboards in a number of rooms showed serious signs of wear and tear. Service too was mixed. While we found most staff friendly and eager to help, brunch service over the weekend was slow, with some meals taking 30 minutes to almost an hour. Pool lounge chair and cabana reservation was poorly managed and communicated, and billing mistakes were common. It's a shame, because this hotel is so pretty and in such a good location.
Not worth it
Guest service is inconsistent with multiple people telling me different things. Staff are also unfamiliar with local tourism which is insane for tourists. Front office staff on departure charged / settled my account with out first showing me the final bill on checkout (fair enough if I did express checkout, but I went to the desk on this particular occasion because of the lack of knowledge when I arrived). As she didn’t confirm the final bill with me on departure, they incorrectly charged me resulting in me now awaiting a refund. Pathetic. Food and beverage staff as well as porters were nice and the overnight gentlemen at reception was super friendly. I’ve travelled to multiple Kimptons worldwide and this by far is below par. Room is beautiful but would not recommend or stay here ever again.
Unforgettable Experience!
My stay at Kimpton La Peer was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I stepped onto the property, I was greeted by the sheer beauty of the surroundings. The ambiance was simply breathtaking, a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. However, what truly stood out was the impeccable customer service provided by the staff. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable. A special mention goes to Amari, whose genuine hospitality left a lasting impression on me. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive care throughout my stay, Amari truly embodies the essence of hospitality. Thank you all for such an amazing experience! I can't wait to return.
Weekend getaway to LA with my parents
My trip in LA was so cool !!! Loved staying here was really helpful because its so close to everything being close to Beverly Hills, made it convinient to get from point A to B. Service was great ! The food was also delicious. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful with guidance around the city and gave me great advice on where to shop for vintage items. Would definitely come back here if I were back in LA.
We will come back!
I stay together with my family and it was perfect. spacious room with views, lovely natural light, big bathtub for the kids, staff always helpful and the area was perfect for us, we could walk to different places to grab a coffee/matcha or to have breakfast (for Europeans used to walk, this is perfect). We dinner at Lady Hawk and all the dishes were tasty, the quality of the ingredients were 10/10. We can’t wait to come back.
Dreamiest hotel in West Hollywood.
The ambiance, aesthetic & service was phenomenal! This is truly the dreamiest hotel in West Hollywood & we will definitely be back for our next trip. Everything from smooth check in, friendly staff & the beautiful room! We also loved the free social hour where we could get some complimentary drinks & socialize & relax. We loved the convenience of the stocked snacks/drinks in the room, the fun rooftop, the pool & the gym! It truly felt like we were pampered all weekend - can't wait to be back!
