Be the first to ReplyDelicious food and fabulous servers
We visited Ivy at the Shore between Christmas and New Years. The food was very good and the servers were very attentive. Just beware it is a pricey restaurant.

The atmosphere was lovely but the food was way overpriced for average quality. I felt I was being scammed as a tourist to be honest.

I had the steak tacos. Very tender and tasty. Also had their breakfast. Made to order. Good food and staff very friendly. MUST GO!!!!

I visited recently with my family, the service was poor and somewhat arrogant, we were served scones and jam as an appetiser, this is a sweet or desert so I presume they were trying to use something they had over. I had crab sandwitch that arrived with fries, which were not on the menu, when I questioned this I was told it was in the small print at the bottom of the menu, which also offered other options , none of which was mentioned when I ordered. This restaurant is living on the name, the standard is poor, I use Ivy in the UK and have used the other one in LA, this one lest the name down.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, great service
We ate here on the first night of our stay in Santa Monica and the food and service were excellent. It was pricey but that was expected.
Be the first to ReplyGreat menu in a desirable location. Nice environment!
Lovely menu with choices for every palate. I had the vegetable chopped salad that was fresh and filling… you choose what protein you want and it’s a complete meal. The setting is right along the busy ocean drive in Santa Monica but the greenhouse walls make you feel private from the tourist crowds. A great choice for outdoor seating mixed with an upscale menu.

The Ivy at the Shore is a lovely restaurant with quality food. My favorite part is that the wait staff is very friendly and responsive.

Dishonest staff! An hour after leaving the restaurant, my boyfriend realized he had left his credit card in the payment wallet after settling the bill. As we were waiting to join the hop on hop off bus he sprinted back to the restaurant to retrieve it. Where on arrival he was expecting it to be presented to him as we categorically knew that is where we had left it. However, this was far from the case! As they were adamant it was not there! The waiter that served us had clearly taken the card, yet disingenuously pretended to search for it! Knowing full well he had taken it! After 30 minutes of us insisting they had it, (whilst at the same time my boyfriend was anxiously cancelling the card!) It miraculously appeared! Just be aware as we were appalled, as have never experienced this kind of behavior in a restaurant before or in fact anywhere!

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Service was next level. Cocktails unique & exceptional. Dinner was delish! The chilean sea bass was our fave! Even the table setting is gorgeous. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyJust nice - Great location
This location is amazing right across the street from views of the ocean, pier and walking trail. The decor is whimsical with floral and pinks. Even the waiters all wear pink shirts and floral ties. Not sure if it was a special menu though with nothing bad to say, but nothing great to say either. It was nice. You will get a nice meal but not amazing. And yes the Ivy pink sauce is nice. It is a bit noisy so you know.

Our unforgettable experience started with valet parking just outside the entrance. Once inside, we were promptly seated by very friendly, courteous wait staff who were all resplendent in their crisp white pants, pink shirts and floral pink ties. They all looked as if they had just been properly starched and ironed. Within minutes our drinks (passion fruit martini, virgin mojito and wine) were served and shortly after our appetizers of delicious crab cakes and calamari were before us. Fresh wild swordfish, shrimp scampi with jumbo shrimp (as advertised) Shrimp tacos with ortega chili aioli or spicy swordfish tacos. All were beautifully seasoned and tasteful. Deserts were decadent: Tarte Tatin with whipped cream, Hot pecan square with praline gelato and hot fudge sauce and the blackberry apple crumble. This was our first visit here and will definitely not be out last. Location, cuisine and service were all outstanding!! Highly recommended!

We've been here several times but the friends we were with had never been here. We were visiting from Canada. The food was still delicious! Consistent to other years. Great service, and walking along the Santa Monica pier is the highlight of every time we have been to Santa Monica

Beautiful restaurant with great views of the ocean. The food was outrageous. You definitely get what you pay for. The cocktails were made with the freshest fruits and veggies. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely lived up to our expectations!

We had an absolutely divine dining experience at the Ivy on the Shore restaurant in Santa Monica, California. Truly wonderful!
Our party of four (4) were seated promptly and the service was awesome starting from the valet service all the way to leaving this magnificent place.
The food was well prepared, fresh and presented like we were royalty. The Snake Farms Wagyu steaks….. so tender it melted in my mouth. No sauces needed to bring out the flavorful taste.
To be truly honest. We enjoyed our dinner experience so much that we returned the next morning for their awesome breakfast.
I recommend the 15oz Wagyu Ribeye Steak! Yummy!!!
Food quality needs to be upgraded
We had Sunday brunch at Ivy at The Shore. Service was good. The good was meh, a 6 out of 10 at best. The most egregious lack of quality was the orange juice...it was an absolute poor quality joke. Orange juice served even at The Cheesecake Factory, just blows away the alleged orange juice served at The Ivy. We think The Ivy is in an identity crisis-- years ago, The Ivy was top-notch in it's food quality, at both locations. Now, the restaurant appears to be more concerned about holding prices, than it does about maintaining premier food quality. Anotherwords, sadly we think The Ivy has lost its way. We will not be returning anytime soon.

Enjoyed another excellent dinner at this long-lived and popular place. Great food, great vibe, terrific staff — special thanks to Mark and Angel.

Good food, menu has a wide range, fast service. A little on the noisy side but fun atmosphere. Loved the decor.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, location, and service
The service, location, and food were fantastic. Be sure to check the menu and pricing in advance. This is a high-end restaurant and you will pay accordingly.
Be the first to ReplyA must!
The restaurant is very charming. It has a very cute and quaint "New Orleans" vibe. The service was great and the food was even more amazing than I expected. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because by dinner time they were all out of quite a few items on their menu. The food and cocktails were very fresh and you could definitely taste the quality in every bite and sip you took. This is a definite must visit!
Be the first to ReplyIvy...ignored!
I have no idea what the food tastes like. We were brought to a table for dinner in the back area, which was transformed to be outdoor dining over the rear parking lot. Very pretty set up, but we were brought to a table that was in a corner and completely ignored. We sat for at least 15 minutes - not one server even made eye contact. We just got up and left. It was extremely busy, but we watched so many servers walking around and tending to other tables except ours. Very disappointed.

Do not miss the lobster scramble at brunch. You can't really go wrong, there is something for everyone here. Service is top notch. Fantastic menu.

It had been about 15 years since we last ate at the Ivy- stopped choosing it as a result of a couple of bad meals. Decided to give it another try; it will be another 15 years before I dine there again. It’s a pretty place; the service is attentive…so, what’s the problem? THE FOOD! I had the sea bass, and there’s no doubt in my mind that I ate frozen/ microwaved fish. It came out to the table not 5 minutes after being ordered. And it tasted watery/soggy.
One other negative- when a waiter is asked for suggestions and every single response leads to the most expensive item in its category…it’s an insult to the diner’s intelligence. He asked if we wanted desert- we said no. He insisted that he at least bring us 4 cookies to leave with a sweet taste in our mouths…and added them to our check…leaving this writer with a bad taste.
Excellent service and tasty food
I would like to share my experience with excellent service in LA.
I’ve been to many places, fancy and not really. In LA to find good service is super hard. I’m demanding, will not hide this moment.
But this place impressed me a lot.
I’m working in service industry for about 9 years and I know the way it should be.
A very nice gentleman Sina was taking care of our table, it was 7 of us and everyone felt care and personalized service.
Full explanations about every dish, how much time it would take, if we need heater on or off, pillows for our backs.
I’m honestly saying it’s one of the best services what I ever had.
And I promise, I saw a lot.
Food. We took different dishes and each and everyone was delicious. Seafood was super fresh.
I will definitely come back.
Thank you for this beautiful experience.
