J Carver Austin Reviews from The Last Year
Had great dinner here for my birthday.
The staff made it a very special night. Oysters were on point so was steak. Try the gnocchi for sure
OMG. Sweet six lb eight ounce newborn infant Jesus this
OMG. Sweet six lb eight ounce newborn infant Jesus this restaurant was incredible. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The ambiance was amazing, very dim lit much like many steak houses. But the difference here was the center "bar seating" that definitely doesn't feel like bar seating with the massive gorgeous velvet chairs and the front view of the oyster shucking! We had the pleasure of having Loren as our sever, he was so friendly, knowable, but most of all made us really have fun! The menu is impossible to choose from, as everything looked Amazeballs. But Loren was so sweet and thoughtful with his recommendations and we felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant with such attention to detail. Turns out the peeps next to us were my friend's homies and they ordered the garlic bread. LORRRT don't skip it but share it y'all I could have filled up on just that alone. Next we had 12 oysters, 3 different kinds. They were so fresh and it was so much fun to watch them shuck them right in front! Delicious. We both had the 10 ounce filet, it is by far one of the best I've ever had. So juicy and moist (I love this word makes people cringe) but it was so tender and cooked perfectly medium rare with a beautiful buttery middle. I had more than half left for the next day. Swoon. The corn creme brûlée sounded odd but I freaking love corn so I was sold. This was almost the star of the show. It's hard to describe but it is one of the best side dishes to accompany a steak. We also had a lot of leftovers of this. We capped it off with an amazing espresso martini, one of the best in the cities in my opinion. And there are a lot! It's rich but you can taste each ingredient. Finally Loren treated us to an unreal sorbet with a lil cookie on top. Y'all this spot might be the most sexy date night restaurants here in austin. I highly recommend giving them a try and make sure to ask for Loren! also I know my pix suck but we were having too much fun to even take out our phones!
Superior dining experience.
Yellowtail tartare, scallops, superb tenderloin followed by a delicious crème brûlée. The atmosphere was wonderful as was our server, Brittany. She was professional, personable and made our dinner even more of an amazing experience. Thank you J Carver's and Brittany for a wonderful evening! We look forward to dining at J Carver's again when we return to beautiful Austin.
absolutely the best dinner and service.
I think I've ever had in my life. wonderful, wonderful service and food was delicious.
I love this place.
Intimate. Exceptional service. Exceptional cocktails. Exceptional menu. Steaks cooked to order every time. Yeah. You get what you pay for. It's worth it!
If you haven't been here, you need to come.
Red Ash vibes (same owner). Everything was absolutely delicious. Complimentary champagne if you're waiting for your table. Will definitely return.
What a fantastic evening.
My wife retired after 39 years with State Farm. Bradley was our server and did an outstanding job. We started out with escargot. It was delicious. Then she had the crab cake which was full of crab and hardly any filler. My wife loved it. My filet mignon was cooked perfectly. We also split the gnocchi. So rich and creamy. For dessert we had the grand desert tasting. It was fabulous. Andrew the manager was awesome. He had us set up at an great table with a cute sign on it. Thanks for making my wife's evening unforgettable.

We visited for my husband birthday and it was one of the best decision. The service was paced very nicely so we can enjoy the dinner. We ordered the tomahawk steak and it was one of the best. Definitely get the cream corn and broccoli to pair with. They also offer a complimentary dessert for birthday celebration! The food taste was delicious with unique flavors!

A highly sophisticated restaurant, delicious menu and very pricey too. It's also very dark inside, but the ambiance is perfect. Great cocktails too!
What an incredible experience! I would highly recommend to
What an incredible experience! I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. We went for a birthday dinner and I have never felt so special. Their service was out of this world (shout out to Ryan!), the ambiance is executed to perfection and the food was delicious. My fiance makes an incredible steak, so we tend to be disappointed when we go out for steak. No offense to my fiance, but J Carvers' steak was on a whole different level! We will most definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Good Austin Steak Place
Great steakhouse with seafood appetizers. Tried the oysters, crab and bone marrow plus steak. Good ambiance - perhaps a little dark as we needed a light to read the menu which was typical per the waiter. Great waitstaff and good food.

Hands down this was one of the best steakhouses I've been to ever. The customer service was fantastic. Alex was very great and didn't miss a beat when serving us. From the moment we walked into the restaurant we knew what was ahead of us. Definitely will be going back next time I'm visiting Austin. All the food we got was very delicious. Highly recommended to try this place out.
Possibly the best steakhouse in Austin.
Everything from the service to the drinks and food was amazing! I am not a huge bread eater typically but their bread was the best bread I've ever had. J carver's is a must while in Austin!
Super swanky spot.
Very dark and secluded. Perfect for a special night out. The food was phenomenal and the service was impeccable. I've never been to a restaurant where you get to pick out the knife you will be using for dinner. The sides are big enough to share and the potatoes were my favorite! Fish was buttery and delicious and we had a steak Oscar style (not pictured) that was excellent. I will definitely be back!

This place is my Jam! The jumbo garlic shrimp is out of this world. And we cannot forget about my favorite tequila. I can eat here every day.
A Birthday Dinner Letdown at J Carvers, Austin I had high
A Birthday Dinner Letdown at J Carvers, Austin I had high hopes for a memorable birthday celebration for my wife at J Carvers in downtown Austin, a city renowned for its vibrant dining scene. Regrettably, our experience was marred by a series of service failures and organizational mishaps that cast a shadow over the entire evening. Our reservation was initially delayed by 15 minutes due to "car traffic," an inconvenience we were willing to overlook, hoping for a delightful dining experience ahead. This understanding, however, was met with further disappointment as we were awkwardly positioned behind the bar, an area cramped and ill-suited for waiting guests, especially near dining patrons. This setup immediately made us feel overlooked and out of place, a sentiment that was reinforced when the head chef personally greeted every table but ours, rendering us invisible in our corner. The neglect extended to our service as my wife's simple request for a glass of wine was seemingly disregarded, with the wine never arriving and our server clueless about the order when we were finally seated -- a half hour later than promised. This was just the beginning of a night characterized by delays and disorganization, as even "simple" appetizers and mains took an inordinate amount of time to be served. To compound the frustration, our coffee, meant to accompany dessert, was forgotten until after we had finished our dessert and the bill had been prematurely presented. Despite our server's best efforts, who was the only semblance of a saving grace in an otherwise chaotic evening, we found ourselves repeatedly reminding and asking for items we had ordered, including basics like bread. The culmination of these issues was the difficulty in even settling the bill, a final testament to the disarray that defined our visit. The restaurant's gesture to comp my wife's $14 dessert, while appreciated, did little to amend the cumulative effect of the evening's disappointments. Considering the significant cost of a birthday dinner in downtown Austin, the value and experience we received were exceptionally poor. In a city teeming with exceptional dining options, our experience at J Carvers stands out for all the wrong reasons. This review serves as both a cautionary tale for potential patrons and a plea to the restaurant management to address the glaring deficiencies in service and organization that spoiled what should have been a joyous celebration. The first impression is indeed lasting, and unfortunately, J Carvers has left an indelible mark of dissatisfaction. For those seeking a special dining experience in Austin, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I loved it here.
First, the ambiance is nice. Dark and mysterious with good music, but low enough volume to hear your friends. I had the crab cakes, oysters and short rib ravioli. Oysters were good, fresh and briny how I like them. Crab cake. You need to try it. It's blue crab and not lump, but has a GREAT flavor with hella crab and a nice crunch. The remoulade was also good without being overwhelming. Short Rib Ravioli is fragrant and savory. It's good and I recommend getting it as a side instead of the as a full dish. It's very rich so I think it's something to share as opposed to it being your full entree. Bartenders Jesse and James (Team Rocket) were very attentive and open to helping suggest drinks or tweak things based on preferences. I'd definitely comeback. Also. Make a reservation. Even for the bar. This place is booked and busy, baby. If you walk in, you might miss out. I was lucky enough that the amazing hosts and hostesses were able to squeeze me in for a limited time.

This was the nicest restaurant I've been at in a long time; really fortunate to have the opportunity to dine with them at a business event. Most folks got the filets and loved them, I ventured for the ravioli and was blown away. I've never tasted those flavors weaved together so wonderfully before. Must try. Godfather was a solid cocktail choice, while you take in the classic steakhouse scenery. Service was pretty good. If you hit quota or get your bonus, swing by.
Spent our fifth anniversary celebrating with J.
Carver. Located in the space previously housing Holy Roller, but redesigned into a chic, sophisticated dinner spot. If you love bourbon, exotic, expensive tequilas and rare, cultivated wine lists, the bar is your spot. Bring your black card though. The experience of having a 2 ounce pour of Remy Martin Louis XIII will set you back $600! There is a good selection of dry aged meats, fresh seafood and pastas to choose from, along with decadent side dishes for dinner. We decided on the burgundy escargot, covered in puff pastry. Heavy on the garlic butter, we found the dish flavorful and worth the calorie splurge. For dinner, we shared a 30 ounce bone in filet of beef tenderloin that was sliced and served with sizzling shallot butter. The meat was perfectly fork tender and melted in my mouth. The broccolini was roasted and dressed with lemon, grana padana and tomatoes and just perfection! We also had the puréed potatoes, also delicious and creamy. Every bite was amazing! For dessert, the restaurant gave us our choice of desserts to share and we chose the crème brûlée which was phenomenal! I have celebrated milestones, birthdays and anniversaries at many upscale eateries in this city, and I have to say, J. Carter's hit it out of the park in making us feel special and celebrated. There were fresh flowers and a nice card on the table when we arrived, we were wished well by several staff members. The amazing dessert was also a lovely end to our meal. The prices are high, but you're paying for the experience, and the caliber of food and service. It's worth it.
Excellent overall
This was an excellent meal. Service was great, but busy. We tried several different dishes. The pasta Bolognese was some of the best I've ever had. The steak was VERY good and, oddly, seems to be a better value in the filet size. The Halibut was just ok. The corn side was epic. Deserts were very good. Bring your checkbook. Worth it.
It's been a while since I've been to a nice upscale steak
It's been a while since I've been to a nice upscale steak house. After spending 3 years in NYC, I'm a bit spoilt when it comes to a good steakhouse. My colleague from work wanted to grab a good steak and this place came highly recommended by a bunch of folks. Getting a table reservation was tough so we had to make do with sitting at the bar. ++ Starting with the ambiance. This place looked every bit like the fancy NYC steakhouse that I've been used to. The clientele were definitely folks with relatively deepish pockets (not the folks you'd see at a Texas Roadhouse), and people either here on a date, couples or folks from business. ++ I'm still on an alcohol break, so I just had soda and bitters while my colleague had an old fashioned (it was some variant of that). He liked it and has ordered it before ++ We did 2 appetizers. The foie gras and the beef bone marrow. The foie grass was smooth, supple and buttery. It was gone in a quick moment. The bone marrow was probably the best I've ever had. I spread it on the bread and it just melted in my mouth. I'm literally salivating as I'm writing this ++ For the entre we did the Tomahawk steak. It took a while to show up, which in hindsight was a good thing since it gave us some time to let the appetizers digest. We had it medium rare, it was well seasoned , had the right amount of marbeling and was gone within 5 minutes. Overall this is a great place if money is not much of a concern and you want to enjoy a beautiful steak.
My husband surprised me with a reservation to J Carver's
My husband surprised me with a reservation to J Carver's for my birthday on the 2nd. I love the other sister restaurants, but had never eaten here before. We were greeted by Peter at the front and he was so kind and accommodating. We were led to our seat by another woman who took my coat for me. The vibes were already immaculate. Our server was helpful and knowledgeable, and truly a blast to be served by. I cannot seem to remember her name, though. We had a few courses, but we started off with the tuna tartare and that truly set the mood for how the night was going to go. It was flavorful and light. When it finally came time for our entrees, we ordered the pork chop and halibut. Both were incredible, but that pork chop has to have been the best pork chop I've ever had. We finished off with a creme brûlée, and the night was perfect. 10/10
Anniversary dinner
What else can I say but this restaurant is 5 star. The entrance to the rose, cards for our anniversary was a beautiful touch. Our server Ryan and everyone helping him was stellar. I even shook hands with the owner/chef. If you are ever in Austin you must try this place. Just fantastic!
Amazing place
Amazing place ! We are French and we have been there on August Very very good restaurant. As soon as we arrived, the welcome was wonderful. And dishes worthy of famous French cuisine: pan-fried foie gras, garlic bread, delicately spicy shrimp, incredibly tender and tasty beef. And we were also surprised by the quality of the wines that the sommelier had us taste before making our choice. a very good evening in an extraordinary place. Thanks Kim and John

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!

Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
Payouts Blocked Because of Sell Through Rate
Does anyone know how AT plans to handle cases where a seller is quitting the platform but has a sell through rate <25%? The error message I got said to fill more bids or find other ways to increase the rate.
Is AT really going to block sellers from withdrawing their money? Especially revenue made before the sell through rate was introduced??

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
