Absolutely delicious and the service was excellent.
Great menu, great ambiance. We loved every bite and look forward to our next visit.

J. Sheeky is always on my stop over and dine here list whenever I'm in London. Seriously is. The experience there is just so essential London and ideal West End, its become personally cherished. My go to item is hands down, the J.Sheekey's Fish Pie. which is an extraordinary staple there that is well worth trying. It's essentially Shepherd's Pie however with three kinds of finned fish. The freshly baked sourdough bread and English butter sets the tone along with a perfect glass of Riesling. Trust me, you'll love it too. Be sure to make reservations as this location is quite popular. In the warmer climates, I love sitting outside taking in all the West End buzz walking through the alley between theaters. Love it.

J Sheekey was most definitely the highlight meal of my recent trip to London. It is the restaurant I was least looking forward to visiting, but the proximity to the theatre district and show we were seeing (Tina, The Musical .... which I HIGHLY recommend!), it just made sense. From the moment we stepped in not only did the hostess ask if we were seeing a show, but took interest in asking 'what' show (I noticed that this wasn't exclusive to us, as she asked people ahead of us as well). It's a little touch that in some instances may go unnoticed, but for me, it is just that little extra warmth you receive throughout London. We were seated toward the front of the restaurant in a very comfortable banquet with plenty of space between tables (one side banquet, one side a chair). The restaurant itself is just old-school beautiful. Service was impeccable and fast (to ensure there was plenty of time to make the show), but not so fast that you feel rushed. It is as if you know you're in good hands. Ordered a bunch of smaller dishes off the a la carte menu including - - Oysters. I didn't taste any but my niece said they were among the best she had during our trip. The finger bowl they put along side the Oysters and mussels are a very nice touch. - Tuna Tartare. I wish I had taken more time to ensure the lighting was optimal for my photos because this dish was not only beautifully presented (the edible flowers on top were a lovely touch), but it was possibly the best tuna tartare I've ever had (and tuna tartare is my go-to appetizer whenever I'm dining out). - Wild Mushroom Risotto. My order was the smaller portion, which was quite generous. It has just a touch of black truffle which sometimes can be overwhelming. But J Sheeky got it just right. I'd have a difficult time not ordering this again. It was absolutely delicious. - Steamed Shetland Mussels. A little chili, red miso, and lime broth. My niece loved it. - Creamed Spinach. And good creamed spinach, at that. - We finished with the Welsh Rarebit and a cheese plate. It was my first time having Welsh Rarebit, and I have to admit to being confused when they put the bottle of Worcester on the table. I wasn't sure what to expect with the Welsh Rarebit. I was thinking cheese toast, but it is really much more complex than that, and I'll admit that I have since gone down a rabbit hole (pun intended) reading about it. Definitely going to give it a try on my own. As for the cheese plate, it was a lovely combination of Montgomery Cheddar, Sinodun Hill and Cashel Blue. I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Neal's Yard Dairy (home of the Sinodun Hill) when I visited Borough Market. There are several places where I live where I have access to some of the Dairy's Cheese, and they'll be moved into regular rotation on my cheese plates! 3 glasses of wine and a coffee brought the total bill to $242.49. It was well worth that price and J Sheekey will be on my must-visit list next time I'm back in London.

Got food after an hour of ordering - first server disappeared, had to remind of good order. Seafood tower was below average and had sand on it. Over priced for what it offers
Be the first to ReplyWhat a wonderful meal and excellent service.
For appetizers, we ordered 6 jersey oysters, shrimp tempura, and scallops. The oysters were large and fresh, perfect. The tempura shrimp were less than exciting - a little bland. But, the scallops!!! I wish I had a dozen of those. Some of the best I've had in my life. He had the Roast Mixed Shellfish, which was fantastic. And, my hubby even let me have one of his yummy scallops!! I had the lobster Thermador, which was tasty. Our sides were the mash and tomatoes. Both lovely. Our drinks were spot on but everything about service was perfect. A fabulous meal in the heart of everything.
Be the first to ReplyThis upscale eatery does not disappoint.
From the bread and butter all the way to the coffee and dessert and the end were great. Can't wait to visit again.

We had the fruit-de-mer platter is excellent here. A nice assortment with lobster and oysters. Cocktails here are also quit good. And lots of choice.

Delicious meal with a variety of seafood options - vegan/vegetarian menu upon request. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Price was very reasonable for the quality of the food. Glad we made our way there this trip!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic seafood in a wonderful setting.
The service offered was as always phenomenal. A delight.

The hostess and coat check attendant were both very lively and warm from the moment I arrived. My reservation was for the bar area and several servers attended to me. I started with the shellfish bisque, which was delicious and the portion was very generous. I then ordered pan fried slip sole and mashed potatoes for my entree. Overall everything was prepared nicely and the service was excellent. I will definitely return on my next trip to London.

Came here with my coworker and we were not disappointed! The ambience is lovely, and the food is excellent as well. The scallops had this amazing sauce that was so flavorful and my burger was juicy and filling. The portions were plentiful as well. Definitely recommend!
Be the first to ReplyI do not know quite what to put on this review.
I liked J. Sheekey OK but would I probably go again probably not. The food was good and the service was OK but I just wasn't sure what to get. I got food and it tasted OK it's just I wasn't thrilled. My friend got the grilled platter and I got the Seabass. My Seabass was cooked OK and there was flavor the potatoes were OK I just wasn't thrilled. I got the soup and there really wasn't anything in the soup it was just the soup more like an emulsion. My drink that I got it was just OK as well. So I'm not saying not to die in here because it was good but I guess I just was left feeling like I wanted more. It was very busy and it was in a part of town that appeared to be like the theater district or some thing. But I would say try it and see it if it's your thing.
Be the first to ReplyReally great seafood options.
Everything was cooked to perfection, and the mussels were stand out. The place is a little pricey but worth it if you're in the area looking for good fish.
Be the first to ReplySo fantastic in every way.
The oysters were fantastic and they were expertly prepared and presented. Crab and avocado salad delicious. The caviar under the house name was nice though it seemed a bit lower grade than advertised. Only short coming was the ice cream was not quality, more ice milk than cream.

I will start with the positives, the cocktails we had were good and some of the staff were very curious and attentive, unfortunately the waiter we had wasn't very helpful, the starters came quickly although not all at one time, the main course took almost an hour to arrive. The food wasn't good, I had shellfish bisque, which I was expecting to be more like lobster bisque, but was brown and not very rich in flavor, I also had Monkfish and King prawn Tikka Masala, which I was expecting to be like Chicken Tikka Masala, but with fish instead of chicken, but no such luck, again was brown and the flavor was not what I was expecting. My wife had the lobster which also was disappointing. The waiter suggested we take some side dishes including potatoes, despite the fact the main course already came with fries, which also didn't taste good.
Be the first to ReplyQuality selection of "as fresh as it gets" fish in London.
I had some local plaice and it was pretty nice. They kept the accompanying ingredients light with a hint of savory olive oil / butter sauce over the filet. Oysters on the half shell were out of this world - had 2 from each source. Incredible! I'd go back for the oysters alone. The ambiance was quite pleasant as well. The place itself has an elegant but not stuffy appeal with no modern decor. So it's like you're stepping back into the pre-2000s. I loved that. It felt very comfortable. No complaints about the service - our waiter was well kept and very attentive.

My daughter and I had dinner on Valentine's Day prior to a show next door. Although we had good service during the meal, we both became violently ill later that evening. Unfortunately, this occurred the night before I was to return home to the US. Because of this, I had to change flights, extend my hotel stay and also have a nurse come to my hotel room to provide IV fluid so that I could eventually make the trip home.I had selected this restaurant based on the great reviews and the proximity to the theatre we were attending. Unfortunately, the experience did not turn out as expected and ended up costing me a lot more than just the price of the meal.
Be the first to ReplyMeals that never disappoint seafood lovers.
ย The restaurant sticks to its specialty and does it well. ย Service is friendly. ย I ordered iced berries dessert without knowing what to expect , what a delicious surprise it was .
Be the first to ReplyWonderful food and really welcoming environment.
I will definitely go back. The cocktails were very good.

Some of the best seafood in London together with classy ambiance and attentive service and just off Leicester Square this venue is a good choice indeed. Great bar.

Have walked by multiple times, finally dropped in after Theater Fri night. First lesson: do a reservation here in any case! Staff managed to get me a table outside, while it was getting cold and drizzling outside it still was pretty and perfectly heated. I'm a lover of seafood... and what can I say, it was totally with it. The tempura oyster was just fantastic as was the fish. Great selection of wine.
Be the first to ReplyHorrible food and service.
I would give this place zero stars if that were possible. They were not able to make substitutions for those in our party with allergies. Vegetables we were served had not been prepared properly, and our sprouts still had stems and outer leaves on them. The seafood was below average, and everything was either under seasoned or over seasoned. One dish was so over salted that it was inedible. Also, it's incredibly overpriced. Our dinner for two was almost ยฃ300 (which is INSANE for awful food). The service was also terrible; we waited for what seemed like an eternity for someone to take our order, yet the service continued to worsen. Sadly, our experience was better than most. The group at the table next to us had to send back multiple dishes because they were cold. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Be the first to ReplyVery good meal and service.
Had the crab bisque to start - tasted good. Then had a couple fish dishes - salmon and cod. Both were well prepared and tasted good. Good atmosphere but missing any wow factor.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is over priced and very mediocre.
Could have gotten the same meal somewhere else for half the cost. Also they put a $4 "cover charge" when I asked what it was for, my waiter said it was for the bread that they brought out in the beginning. So I followed up by asking why they would bring bread that costs money to the ย table without asking us if we wanted to pay and he had no answer. To top things off, the food was extremely mediocre. Totally not worth the money. I regret going.

Delicious filet of sole, very tasty smoked eel appetizer, lovely wines, attentive yet relaxed staff, a wonderful pre-theater meal in London's West End. This place is a cut above New York's Joe Allen with Michelin-Star quality food, historic and classy ambience and a dazzling seafood menu. Book well in advance for pre-theatre.
