From the moment you gaze at the elegant entrance down the long corridor off Collins Street in the Heart of the CBD, you just know you're in for a treat. The first thing you notice is the very attentive staff who take your coat upon entry and check it in the cloak room. This Japanese Restaurant oozes class at every turn. You could see and taste the freshness of every ingredient in every course that was served to us. The masterful chef carefully proportioned our serves so as not to give the other couple an unequal share. Coincidentally, we opted for the same set course menu, which consisted of a prawn and scallop appetizer, followed by a delicious Miso Soup. However, prior to the preparation of our entrees and mains, the chef prepared mounds of freshly shaved garlic cloves on the Teppanyaki Grill. This was purposefully done, so that he could add just the right amount of shaved grilled garlic to every course he served. We were happy, as all of us love garlic. He then started to expertly carve the tenderloin steak we ordered. There was no need to trim it, as it was lean as they come. Then came the chicken. OMG, How Scrumptious. Then there was the endless supply of accompanying dipping sauces, which made our dining experience a sheer delight. Believe it or not...researchers say that this is the proper way to consume a meal. We also had white rice to top things off. For those novices who have never eaten Teppanyaki Style before, I suggest pouring one of the savory sauces over the white rice to enhance the flavour.Although, you would not call this a budget or even moderately priced restaurant, I still considered it to be great value for money. And lets face it folks...you can't really put a price on quality and the ultimate dining experience. Excellent for that special occasion.

I have been going here for many years and without fail the quality and consistency has been unquestionable. Personally the best Teppanyaki in Melbourne. Nice atmosphere although it may need to be refurbished. You have a few set courses to choice from I always go for the Teppanyaki special dinner with Wagyu or Tenderloin. Normally both and its shared. Always say yes to the Garlic and crispy prawn legs, you won't regret it. All the produce is freshly presented in front of you by your personal chef and cooled to your liking.

For Teppanyaki this place is excellent because you get your own table as a group, and you get the food quality, without over the top theatrics. We had a really nice dinner here, and while service was aloof, I'd return to it over other places I've been to in Melbourne before. It's about $40-$60 per person plus drinks. We also got the regular beef (not Wagyu which was pricier) and it was superb (although I've personally never really understood what ppl love so much about Wagyu anyway).

But these folks are renowned for their great BBQ steaks and seafood. No food throwing shenanigans here; Teppanyaki Inn is an upmarket Japanese restaurant.I normally reserve this great eatery for business; a great place to impress clients, however this was a very special occasion in my parent's 54th wedding anniversary. Michael our gracious host greeted the clan with smiles and promptly escorted us to our table. We ordered a mixture from the set menu; seafood, steak and chicken. All served to our individual tastes and liking. The food was exquisite and all served with a variety of vegetables which were equally enjoyable. They also boost an extensive wine list. Will be back for sure!
Be the first to ReplySo, there are a few different kinds of teppanyaki.
They're all cooked in front of you on a huge hotplate, but they aren't all the kind that throw it at you. Teppanyaki Inn is of the 'spectacle' kind, but you don't get covered in food. They set thing on fire, squash stuff, toss slices of food and write on the plate with salt when they're finished, but you needn't wear a plastic poncho. Having sampled a few teppanyaki grills around Melbourne, I feel I can safely say this is certainly amongst the best. Perhaps not the cheapest, but given the quality when compared to others in the same category it's all but a bargain. Whilst not really articulated on the menu, they cater to most dietary requirements (just let them know). Oh, and their warm saki is heaven in a jug.
