HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Very busy spot in the heart of Sedona!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Very busy spot in the heart of Sedona! Parking is tough but don't let that deter you!! There were 8 of us and service was great! The food is amazing! Everyone love what they ordered! I had the best Chicken Mole' Enchiladas I've ever had!! Both my husband and I ordered them and devoured every bite!! (Side note-let your customers know they put sesame seeds on top! Very strange? Can't have them) Our House margaritas were amazing as well! Service was great! The only bummer was one dish was forgotten my sister was waiting patiently and I think we were halfway through the meal when it finally came out. The server was so apologetic and didn't even charge her for it! Thank you for that! Definitely look forward to coming back!

Very busy large establishment that was able to accommodate our large group of 11. Menu had the usual as well as some interesting takes on Mexican food. I think we were too engrossed in our conversations to comment on the food, but that's a good thing. Service was good except for a moderate sized water spill that was never taken care of, and one order that was not taken with the others. My blackened catfish part of the dish was tasty, but I'm not sure the relleno part worked well. Overall, it was a good experience, though, especially the tasty margaritas. Be prepared for the Sedona prices, but that's just the norm.

Happened upon this place when talking to a Sedona local who recommended it for excellent Mexican food. Sat at bar instead of table in order to watch sporting event. Great bar service, very good starters apps! We enjoyed the very tasty chicken quesadillas. We were not fans of the salsa as it tasted a bit like Italian sauce due to the use of oregano in it. Wasn't bad but just didn't work for us with the chips or on the quesadillas. Overall ambiance was great - not too loud and was very bright (mid-day). Definitely a place we will come back to when we stop through Sedona again! We will definitely have a regular meal next time and not just the appetizer. Will update this review when we do.

Amazing experience!! Such good vibes and Mango is incredible- fun, knowledgeable and great!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and lots of vegetarian and vegan options.
I wanted to try the vegan nachos, but I couldn't get anybody to join me. We had great service and amazing food. Portions big enough to share or take home. The prickly pear margarita packs a punch! Thanks Javelina!!

The ambience was and music choices were good. The salsa was very fresh and complimentary. Service was very quick! Food was good as well.

On a first time trip to Sedona we ate at Javelina Cantina for an early dinner. Seated as requested on patio and were served our drafts quickly along with chips and salsa that were incredible. When the table next us had their food brought out it smelled incredible and we were optimistic about our choices. We were not looking for a large meal and decided on sharing beef and cheese quesadillas and chicken strips. Both arrived at same time as we wanted. The amount of strips was generous but we did notice some, about 1/5, of the chicken strips were more on the too done side. The server was fantastic!! He didn't wait for us to request different ones (who enjoys doing that???), no questions asked and a whole new batch was brought out quickly. They are smaller size cuts, breaded lightly in lightly seasoned coating. Best I have had, seriously. The quesadillas were simple but very well cooked and delicious with the salsa verde and shredded lettuce and diced tomato. So much for not wanting a large meal, left with a to-go box with over half of each item for a "snack". Would gladly go back again. All the servers were extremely busy but very attentive to every table. Wish more places were like them.

Food was good, however there were several shortcomings with the service which tarnished our experience for our first visit to Javelina Cantina. First, we received a text notification that our table was ready, yet when we checked in at the front desk a few minutes later our table had been given to someone else and we had to wait 10 more minutes to finally be seated at a table. We ordered margaritas, and the server brought us drinks different to what we ordered. Next, we ordered fajitas and our food server (Alexito) neglected to bring us the flour tortillas that were part of the meal. Although he apologized once we brought this to his attention as we were nearly finished with the meal, he made no attempt to make things right for this error. Giving two stars because despite the poor service, our food (fajitas without the tortillas) and drinks were enjoyable.

This restaurant is exceptional! The salsa is chunky, not puréed. The guacamole is fresh and perfectly seasoned. They have outdoor seating with stunning views of Sedona. Great margaritas and a larger fishbowl size. The portions were generous. For the two tamale platter they will let you choose different sauces and fillings in one platter, loved the flexibility to have choices and sample all. Don't pick red or green sauce, have both! And, they have a DOGGY MENU!! Can't love this menu option enough. Get your best friend salmon, a burger or chicken. We all loved our food. Walk out the door and go up the stairs for an amazing view, great art and wall murals with angel wings. Epic lunch experience away from crowd.
Be the first to ReplyWow!!! Cannot say enough good things about the service.
.. They understood my food allergies and worked with me. We ordered a flight of margaritas and a Bloody Mary delicious! The Del Mar salad they subbed goat cheese for me it was a hearty salad. Chips and salsas with Guac were so good. Give this place a try it won't disappoint!!!
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is nice.
Food was ok. The beef Machaca was the best thing at our table. The chimichanga was very saucy. Service was polite. Fork was dirty out of the napkin and not much concern, but they did get us a new one. Queso dip wasn't bad, but would prefer more spice and flavor. Overall not terrible just expected more for such a high rating and a restaurant voted best Mexican restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyVery, very average food and service.
There's a lot of hype about this place and it sadly does not live up to it. Fajitas were average at best...like maybe in the same category as getting them at Applebees but paying a lot more money for them because of where you are. Drinks were meh. Our service was also very average. If you're wanting great Mexican in Sedona this isn't the spot!

Free parking lot, though it can get busy. The food comes in large portion sizes, and free chips and salsa. Highly recommend the prickly pear marg. I ordered the fajita salad with steak. The steak was a bit sweet which was unexpected $20 , also got the chicken vegetable burrito $19 and came with rice and beans. Can order it a la carte. Service was quick! I also sat on the patio which has great views . They do have warmers too.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a delightful meal here.
The margarita was yummy, but the steak fajitas were outstanding! The marinade/sauce was delicious, so flavorful with a smokey chili flavor without being too hot. It was so good, we took the leftovers with us all the way home to San Diego. Two days later I topped a simple cheese omelette with it, and thoroughly enjoyed that too. Since it hadn't been overcooked to begin with, it traveled well and held up for a second meal.

We picked this place while staying in Sedona over spring break. Although they were running a little behind (it was pouring outside and one of the busiest weeks of the year), the hostess Sasha was very friendly and calm amidst the mob of people. Our waitress Ruby was so sweet and personable, and the food was terrific. Highly recommend to anyone who wants good Mexican food.

5-star fajitas3-star chimichangaVery nice atmosphere and service here. The server highly recommended their fajitas and the shrimp fajitas I got were excellent. Lots of balanced flavors and everything is just to the point. The chimichanga is OK and the texture is not the best. Ground beef feels more like an American style of flavor instead of the authentic Mexican style. Overall still a great place for dinner.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Sedona! An upscale Mexican restaurant with great cocktails! My favorite dish is the rotisserie chicken enchiladas but all the dishes I've had there are outstanding. It does get packed, though, so go at an off time or be prepared for a wait if you want a table.

Best margaritas! Best cheese dip! Unbelievable Mexican food! We sat outside and it was perfect!
Be the first to ReplyFood was good on a cold rainy holiday weekend night.
We got to watch javelinas on the deck snack on tortilla chips which we all loved.
Be the first to ReplyService was really rude.
Usually come here all the time and they kept asking us to leave when we were seated down for less than 40 min. Bartender was rude, service staff was rude. Food kinda sucks. Won't be back
Be the first to ReplyThe decorations stay with the Javelina theme.
The food was fine. Bean dip when served looked like it had been microwaved together. Street tacos lacked flavor. Could not taste the goat cheese in the chicken enchiladas. Server was nice, however did not give a genuine feel, felt more like we were a table checking off her list.

Service was quick, was busy on a Sunday night! Fun atmosphere and the the servers were friendly. I got the chicken mole enchiladas! Was very tasty and a big portion with beans and rice. Chips were warm with a fire roasted chipotle salsa that was delicious. I got a gold margarita, it was tasty, but very weak on the tequila.

Super delicious food! Highly recommend the tamale & chile relleno. The fajitas were also good, but the tamale/chile were stronger dishes for sure! Defintely a great option for food in the Sedona area!

Get the prickly pear margarita! That made it worth the visit for me! Food was good all around, fron my street tacos to my picky kid's chicken fingers (I try getting her to branch out, to no avail).
