I took my wife here to celebrate her birthday and she loved it ! We dont go out much to fancy restaurants so we always feel a little uncomfortable but the staff here made us feel welcomed and appreciated.

We have been coming here for years and have never been let down. Steaks are perfect. The new upstairs is beautiful! And we are always treated like royalty by the service staff.

I received an email from another customer that was ghosted by Maggie. She as well received an email from Maggie to make things right but never heard back from Carlo and Johnnys.

What has happened to Carlo and Johnny? Second time in a row thoroughly not great. When we arrived there were 6 young hostesses hovered over the hostess stations. The dresses on several were very very short. Our server was not very attentive-he was serving a large party in a private room so that could have been part of the slow service. His helper was pretty good. We came for the lobster filet mignon special as we did last time we came, and I almost feel that they don't treat the customers ordering the special the same as if we ordered off the main menu. I ordered the raw oysters-they were good. The bread/butter basket is always yummy. Last time we ordered the special the Freddy salad was wilted so we ordered the dressing on the side which made the salad delicious. The filet was nothing special but the lobster was good. The comped us a round of drinks for the slow service when we mentioned this to the manager. They provided us with birthday bites compliments of the house however the chocolate chip cookie was dry as was thel little bite of the butter cake which we typically love. The cheesecake bite was yummy. For the price of our meal I don't know if I'll be back. Fixed my hometown. I live in Cinci-this review has the wrong hometown.
Be the first to ReplyMy family and I came for the lobster and filet special.
The food was fantastic, however the service was above and beyond. The hosts are very welcoming, and you are greeted by every employee as you walk to your table. Our server Joe was amazing! Kind, attentive, generous, respectful, and very funny. I couldn't ask for more! You can't beat the food, but you are definitely paying for the experience. Everyone we interacted with ensured we had a great time. Even walking to the restroom, the employees are eager to assist you. Not to mention the restaurant is beautiful. You can't go wrong with a single thing on the menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion. Truly a five star establishment!
Be the first to ReplyFood was great! But music was way to loud.
The problem was I couldn't hear myself think.
Be the first to ReplyWe had the best night tonight at Carlo and Johnny.
Our server was Jack and he was attentive without hovering. He gave the best recommendations and we loved our dinner. Between our server and the ambiance the dinner was a 5 star experience.
Be the first to ReplyWhat can I say about any of Jeff's steakhouses.
They truly do have the best steaks in the mid west. Each location has a distinct atmosphere. This location is in the era of the speakeasys. A classy staff and just excellent service. Valet parking or park yourself.

Was fortunate to have a work celebration dinner at Carlo & Jonny on Tuesday 1/16. Even a Tuesday night in January on a very cold night was extremely busy. Overall the service was excellent as you would expect at a Jeff Ruby steakhouse. Adrian our server did a nice job. The food was very good. Nice to see sushi on the menu. It was a nice place to start. I had the Burrow which is the blackened New York strip with creole topping. It was delicious! We shared the brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese, and mushrooms which were all good. We finished the night off with the butter pie and dark chocolate cake. Oh my they were very good. A couple of issues to note that kept this from being a five star review. Actually I would have given a 3.5 star review if possible. The dining room we were seated in was extremely drafty. Eventually we had to cover the fire place opening with a tablecloth to stop the cold air from freezing us. While the staff apologized and said the fireplace was to be fixed later in the week this is unacceptable for a restaurant like Carlo & Johnny. It would have been nice to see the manager come over and apologize. The other couple of issues were regarding drinks. I ordered a signature cocktail called "Snowing in Mexico" and the server came back and said that was no longer available. We also ordered a bottle of Quilceda Creek week that they did not have. While I know it can be challenging to manage a list with this many options you are a high end restaurant. You may want to consider trimming the options and make sure you have what is on the list in stock. While we did pivot and had a couple bottles of the Darioush Caravan it would be great not wasting time picking a wine that is not available.

We celebrated our 50th anniversary here on Dec 29th, our 1st time. From the moment we walked in until we left, we felt special. Clint stopped by with 2 champagne flutes and welcomed us. We had mentioned it was our 50th in the reservation. The ambiance was excellent. Our server, Adrian, took great care of us. Very helpful with the menu and making suggestions, including the barrel-aged Manhattan. We split a Freddie salad, enjoyed the warm bread & butter, split a classic creamed spinach, I had the Anthony Munoz filet, my wife the steak Diane filet. The food was delightful, probably the best filets we've had, cooked the way we ordered, medium. We were not hurried, Adrian checked on us several times, as did Clint. We split the butter pie Ala mode with coffee for dessert, also delightful. The whole experience was befitting a 50th anniversary dinner celebration. Highly recommend this superb dining experience for a special celebration. We'll be back. Clint also spoke to us as we left.

My husband & I went there recently and it could've been better. Service was slow but passable. He got the Cowboy Rib eye and I got the Boneless Ribeye. We both asked for medium+ doneness. That seemed right. However, they were a bit tough. We both agreed it seemed like the quality of the steaks has gone down. A lower quality but at the same high pricing. Anyway, we couldn't finish our food so we took home leftovers. We went straight home and put the containers in the fridge. Only two (2) days later we both heated up our food for dinner. My husbands steak had a bad taste. Went in the trash. By the way, this was not our first visit... But we agreed it would be our last.

When I am looking for a NICE meal with family, friends, and customers, this is the place. The service and food (especially the steaks) are always excellent. I don't give many restaurants 5-star reviews, but this is one that is worthy of it.

I haven't left a review of a restaurant in years, so you know this is important. The boneless ribeye was the best steak I've ever had at a restaurant; the smoked old fashioned and house manhattan are also the best version of each I've had.My first night, Ashley and Katie treated me like a king. Tonight, Ashley and Kate did the same. My burger was not good in any respect, I have to say, but Ashley made it right by exchanging it for the salmon and brussels sprouts which were great. Kate made me an amazing whiskey sour and I only wish I didn't have to be up at 6am and the place didn't close at 10pm so I could stay and converse. They're the nicest people, best bartenders, and the scene is just amazing. If I ever come back to Cincinnati, I will make sure to stop by and hope Kate, Ashley, or Katie are behind the bar because I know I won't be let down!If you doubt me, I'll fight you.

What a great atmosphere if you haven't been, you really need to visit. We had excellent service from the moment we were greeted. The food was the best we have eaten, my husband got the steak, which they are known for. He said it was so tender you could cut it with a fork.I got the sea bass which melted in your mouth, They also have salads, which we got the Freddie salad which comes with homemade bacon ranch dressing. It was delicious. The night ended with such a nice gesture, the waiter brought us three desserts which was so amazing each bite had so much flavor, it kept you savoring the moment, What a way to end a wonderful night. We are already making plans to go back in the fall to enjoy the warmth of the fireplaces. This is one of our favorite places to go.
Be the first to ReplyFood was amazing.
They made me a speciality salmon for my birthday. Service better than the food if that's possible.
Be the first to ReplyWent for birthday celebrating.
Everyone had steak which was cooked to perfection. Had plenty of sides including Mac and cheese, fingerling potatoes, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, and baked potato and truffle creamed corn. Plenty to share. I highly recommend the corn and fingerling potatoes. The birthday celebrants got a nice desert and cocktails were also great. Dan, our waiter told us the story of the place and provided excellent service.

Service was good, food was somewhat disappointing compared to other steakhouses we have been to recently. The overall experience was less than we had anticipated based on the reputation of the establishment. Steaks were not of the quality what you expect for the money. Sides were average at best.

Another Cincinnati example of a restaurant resting on their laurels.Prime beef? Ten years ago. Execution and presentation?Lacking, and just a couple of notches above Longhorn. And that's certainly not to disparage Longhorn. But at these prices that you expect to pay, you obviously expect more, as well as, the caliber or cachet of a Jeff Ruby establishment. Or, at least when the name used to mean something.I won't bore with the details on what entree etc.... Otherswho have experienced what we unfortunately experienced have done a fine job of providing a review of their disappointment. We dined on March 22nd ( our 25th anniversary), to celebrate. I really wish that we would have prepared our own meal. We loved this restaurant for over 20 years. I hope that C&J will improve in quality and offerings moving forward. Institutions have a reputation to uphold.

I was so happy to come for my birthday ! This restaurant was just ok. The service was good ,but the food was just ok . Maybe they had a bad night . I don't think we will be back .

Unbelievable ambiance. It is an old mansion owned by the Fleishman family. Was a brothel at one point. Service is on point, Dan was very knowledgeable and friendly, he has been doing this for 30+ years, and it shows. He made my gf his special sweet tea. I had my usual Moscow mule. We had the crab cake and some tiger prawns for appetizers, as well as the artisan bread and truffle butter they serve. For Entres I had the Cowboy steak, she had the NY Strip. The steaks were cooked to perfection, with that char bark Jeff Ruby's is know for. For sides we each had our own potatoes, she had the mashed and I had the baked. We split the asparagus and mushrooms. The meal, atmosphere and service was outstanding. We will be doing this every year at this time. Thanks Dan!
Be the first to ReplyA Jeff Ruby restaurant.
Price to quality ratio is a bit outta skew. It's not my first choice. I have to be in the mood for heavy food. Old Skool. There are other great restaurants that have eclipsed this format.

Where else does one go in town to celebrate milestones? We had such a great experience. The staff was so kind, and helpful. This was my first time at a Jeff Ruby establishment, so I had been looking forward to this for a long time! Of course we started with the Freddy salad, the half salad is plenty, I wanted a whole so bad, but I'm glad our server changed my mind because it was huge for a "half salad". I ordered a filet, and it was so tender. The sides were the star. That Mac and cheese is incredible, the crust is perfect. Also I'm sure a lot of people think that you can get fries anywhere...these fries were awesome, and I wanted to put that aioli on everything! The perfect spot for celebrating!
