So happy we took the plunge and ate here
The place is old world and eclectic. The steaks are aged to perfection. Our waiter was on it. Wine list, comfortable no matter which direction you go. Desserts especially the butter pie and carrot cake are delicious. It’s a place to go if you want to splurge. It was a lovely lovely evening. This restaurant is, plain old well done. On a sidenote, I absolutely loved the buttermilk ranch dressing. They just make an expensive dinner a lovely experience. Worth every penny.

We scored a table in the bar. The fantastic Robbie Bartlett was singing! We started with fantastic cocktails. They are generously sized to start your evening off well. Our server Loreal was an absolute delight and made our evening with her personality and top notch professionalism. We had oysters on the half and a king crab leg (which was huge!). That was very filling. Next we split the wedge and each got a large piece of deliciously cooked belly on top. We were getting full so we split a filet with mashed and Mac 'n cheese. We asked for something chocolatey for dessert. Loreal brought out a red colored chocolate torte and a rose that she poured liquid nitrogen over. We sang and laughed with Robbie and had an absolutely wonderful evening.

Big fan of this place. Will definitely return. Honestly can not say anything bad about this place. Usually eat at Tony's in Indy (favorite place). We would rate this place #1. We will return just for a good steak.

Be the first to ReplyJeff Ruby's Steakhouse in Louisville is 5 stars in my book
This restaurant is everything a classic fine dining steakhouse should be. It is a 5 Star in my book. Decor is great and ambiance fantastic (the piano player was very good). The service was impeccable and our waitstaff - Paul and Michael - were very attentive. We passed on the salads but did try the Wagyu meatball and the prawns for appetizers which were excellent. I had the bourbon filet and my wife had the petit filet mignon both cooked to perfection. And the mashed potato and creamed spinach sides were also excellent. The highlight of the dining experience was the Golden Glove Cake created by pastry chef Kelly Zeigler. Words just cannot describe the taste of the cake. Needless to say, we could not finish the cake but did bring it home to enjoy again.
Be the first to ReplyUber Fail! Front bar staff suck!
It’s really unfortunate that the first 10 mins can set the mood for the entire dinner. I was waiting in the front bar behind the people who were seated at the bar as no space was available to get a drink. This is where the girl in the front desk said I should stand as any of the 4 or 5 bartenders would see me and get me a drink. Uber Fail! Stood there for 10 mins and it was obvious that none of the sissy’s behind the bar wanted to get me a drink. I would have just let with my party but one of the people I was with wanted to try Rubys. I live in Cincinnat and have been to all of the Jeff Ruby’s and have never experienced such an obvious snub. Oh well guess the 10/15 dollar tip went to the server who waited on us. Btw - I live down the street from Logan Wilson LB from the Bengals. Won’t be back to this Rubys.

We just got back from the annual Kentucky Farm Bureau at the Galt House. Each year our group has a group dinner at Jeff Ruby's. We have been invited the last two years and have taken our toddler daughter. This place has rolled out the red carpet for us both years. We've had John as our server both years and he is just absolutely phenomenal. John is friendly and professional and makes you feel like you are the most important people in the world. Some places aren't tolerant of small children but they treated my daughter so wonderfully. John brought her a child cup and offered several times to bring her food out early. She was well behaved and he told us we had a very good daughter as we were leaving and he remembered us from last year. ALL of their food was outstanding. Their mac and cheese is to die for and steak is melt in your mouth. I look forward to our Farm Bureau trip every year just to dine here. It's not just dinner, it's an unforgettable experience. John, if you are reading this, thank you for making our visit amazing!

Jeff Ruby‘s steakhouse in my opinion is one of the best high-end steakhouse I’ve been to in a long time! For us, it was a special occasion because we came up to visit our son and his girlfriend on our semi annual trip to Louisville! From A-to-Z, everything was totally enjoyable Food atmosphere service. hats off to Max, Chandler and Abram, Chris the manager, stopped by to say hello to us, and check out our food quality!

Sat at the bar and the bartenders were prompt and super helpful in choosing from the menu items and making my meal a great experience!
Be the first to ReplySimply....WOW!
I have had the fortunate to have eaten at some of the best steakhouses in the USA and this is right up there. Why? 1. Amazing atmosphere and decorum. Tables in back nicely spaced out and not crowded. The bar area with high top tables and two TVs playing football games looks really fun....wished we had booked it. 2. Staff is super nice and professional. Our server Nick was amazing and had a great attitude and really helped us on menu. 3. Of course the steak....we had NZ Waygu Rib Eye Cap and and bone-in tomahawk. Love the crust (must have seared that at like 900 degrees), mash potatoes were good (where are garlic mash??) and believe or not, the blue fin tuna sashimi sampler was amazing--highly recommend. 4. Great wine list but unfortunately NYC prices. A few hidden gems on pricing if you hunt. Highly recommend....
Be the first to ReplyBlackened Steak
Ordered a steak cooked medium. I understand that anything more than medium rare is a sin. But I've had bad luck at other restaurants where a medium rare steak is super bloody and cold in the middle. This steak was well down to the point that the outside was blackened to a char. I thought maybe I missed that on the menu, so I checked just to make sure. Nope, nothing about a blackened steak. A very expensive steak that was, for the most part, ruined. On a positive note, the other two members of my party were very pleased with their meals.

Unfortunately we did not have dinner reservations, but we went before they opened and waited to get a seat at the bar. Although it is a fairly long bar it filled up fast and we were fortunate that we had arrived early. The staff behind the bar were all top notch dressed nicely, very friendly, attentive and helpful. We enjoyed some appetizers and drinks and there was live entertainment in front of us. The atmosphere is so pretty with beautiful chandeliers and decorated for the holidays when we visited. We ordered the cheesiest Mac & Cheese and some flavorful, tender meatballs. We enjoyed visiting again and would highly recommend it.
Be the first to ReplySteak night out. Weekend stay at Galt House
Love the steaks here. However, I was disappointed when I could not be seated except at the bar because I didn’t have a reservation. This steak restaurant had been recommended by friends. The food was delicious. The servers at the bar was awesome.

To start off I would like to say that the service was excellent….. superb! The food….. I would have to say was the downside. Everything was super salty. From the steak to all the sides to the Bernaise sauce I could barely eat most of the meal and it was very disappointing. I would probably not go again for this reason. I even love salt but the food was so overly salted. Big disappointment for the price especially. Also the sushi chef had an earbud in which I thought was very unprofessional as well. Overall, I probably will not be eating here again.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Birthday Dinner with Excellent Service
Last night my wife scheduled a large 40th Birthday dinner, and I couldn’t have been happier. The service from our captain Nick was top tier. We did have a last second change, and the GM Tony saw that we got everything taken care of when the restaurant was fully booked. Nick made great recommendations and the whole party was impressed with the food. Recommend ANY of the dry aged steaks and don’t pass up the truffle mash. Everything was exceptional. Can’t wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyHannah & Chris (Bar)
Hannah & Chris (Bar) Where do I even begin? After a dreadful and challenging few years and pandemic, I think I finally found my comfort place to just be myself and have a great time with myself and my surroundings. I recently had a traumatic event with my private life around a week ago, regarding my partner and I splitting up after four long, incredible years. The events that lead to the separation were really, really traumatic and heartbreaking, which made it hard to live everyday life and begin the grieving process and begin healing. Moving forward, I wanted to have a nice dinner after a good shift at work. I felt like I was at ease when I walked into this gorgeous, stunning steakhouse. The environment was beautiful and I felt super welcomed and pampered the second I walked in. I was introduced with a warm greeting and bread and butter from a very handsome, generous gentleman named Chris haha! The bartender, named Hannah, gave me water and offered me the greatest, and most CORRECT, VESPER martini cocktail, to start off dinner. The butter was succulent and divine, salad was fresh, I tried the Freddie salad, which has the best tomatoes, (kind of working on a tomato diet haha, believe me, it works!). Moving on, I got the "Steak Collinsworth" which consisted of a filet Oscar Style with their house made Borderlaise. Best steak I’ve had in a long time, tender, full of flavor, rich, buttery, bold, all of the things. Get it when you come here, and move your way up. Their steak options are limitless! I finished it all, I finished my wine which was a steakhouse favorite Cabernet Sauvignon, and ordered my dessert to go, a bourbon chocolate cake! To digest everything I got a nice bourbon neat. Located next to Whiskey Row, Jeff Ruby has the BEST bourbon selections. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. Visit the steakhouse yourself and you’ll be amazed and stunned at the food and opulent, real service! I’m very impressed and feel so loved! Thank you so much for having me tonight. You all won a regular, frequent guest! Cheers!
Be the first to ReplyEverything delivered with perfection!
Arrived early and was immediately seated. Upon being seated we were greeted by assistant water and given menus and water. Shortly, waitress came to table and took drink order and asked if we had questions. Bread and butter followed. Drinks were delivered and salad order was taken. No rush in taking dinner order. Delightful! As a couple we order a 12 oz filet, Caesar salad and Brussel sprouts. We asked that salad and steak be split. No problem whatsoever. In fact, steak was cooked at two different temps. Service to perfection!!! Don’t forget dessert…crème brûlée was delicious and also large enough to share. Everything was perfect! Love sitting at high top in the bar. Great vibe with awesome pianist!

Sumptuous, decadent, does not disappoint. This is an old school steak house. Gorgeous cuts of aged beef, and discerning accoutrements — sides, cocktails, desserts. Be prepared to shell out a little more, but it’s all top shelf.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic dinner. amazing service
We made reservations for 9:15 PM and we were seated immediately. We changed a few seats and found a comfortable table. The service staff is super accommodating. We started with some Balvenie 30 year old scotch - they ran out after pouring 4 drinks for our table so we switched to wine after that. They have a very good drinks collection. The wine was fantastic. We had so many dishes for our table - pork belly, meat balls, crab cakes, etc. Folks had steaks and a bunch of sides - all phenomenal. Also had a bunch of desserts. Phenomenal butter cake, ice cream, carrot cake...All home made desserts and all phenomenally good. They also have a cigar collection though we cannot smoke inside. Our group tried some cigars as well. Phenomenal service, awesome food, great atmosphere. Highly recomended.
Be the first to ReplyPerfect Anniversary Dinner
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome. We were seated in a nice half moon seat in the bar area. The wait staff were very informative and gave us just enough time to decide what we wanted to eat/drink. The atmosphere was perfect with dim lights, a nice bar, and a piano player. I had a delicious Apple Cobbler Drink, the chicken dish with asparagus, my husband had a steak, we shared a salad, and the Mac and cheese. Everything was super yummy! My husband said it was the best steak he ever had! For our anniversary we were brought out a nice little sampler of some of their desserts. They were all delicious and a tease! Next time we will order the chocolate cake and the butter cake! The carrot cake was delicious as well!
