Jeune et Jolie Carlsbad Reviews from The Last Year
Very unique flavors and a fabulous, filling meal.
They do not skimp on portions despite the very reasonable $115 price for a four course meal. However, service was extremely slow. 7:30 reservation and we didn't have a table until 8:00 and food until 8:20. We were there until 10pm. We did not have a view of the kitchen so perhaps we missed some of that finesse in the length of the meal. The sommelier paired the wrong wine with my husband's order (he bought the wine pairing, I did not, and the wines ended up being paired to my meal). Not the end of the world because we shared everything, but was disappointing. We would return as the food was excellent. My meal was the crudo, the scallops, waygu, and the levande. The crudo and scallops were highlights! The bread in between courses was also incredible!

Nestled in the heart of Carlsbad, Jeune et Jolie offers a delightful culinary journey through French cuisine with a modern twist. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a chic and inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. The restaurant's ambiance effortlessly combines elegance with a relaxed California vibe. The interior is tastefully designed with a contemporary aesthetic, featuring stylish furniture, soft lighting, and a welcoming bar area. The open kitchen adds an exciting element, allowing guests to catch glimpses of culinary artistry in action. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, showcasing classic French techniques infused with innovative flavors. Whether you're a seasoned fan of French cuisine or a newcomer, the menu offers something to excite every palate. Having heard glowing recommendations from several friends, I entered with high expectations. Jeune et Jolie did not disappoint, although I wished the bread had been better--it was soft but crumbly and dry-ish. Hopefully, they can improve on their bread offerings. The service at Jeune et Jolie is attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. The staff is passionate about the menu offerings and happy to provide recommendations, though I would still advise following your own gut feeling and preferences when making choices. Food: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Ambience: 9/10 What I got from the tasting menu: UN: Tartare DEUX: Porc TROIS: Wagyu QUATRE: Lavande What I got from the bar menu: - Oysters - Bay Scallops - Croque Madam Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving a taste of France, Jeune et Jolie promises an unforgettable dining adventure. Jeune et Jolie is not just a restaurant--it's a celebration of culinary artistry, ambiance, and exceptional hospitality. Can't wait to be back for more! In my opinion, Jeune et Jolie surpasses even Providence in Los Angeles (2 Michelin Stars), and I will definitely be coming back again. Tips: Be sure to make a reservation in advance, as this charming establishment is a popular destination in Carlsbad.
Ordered the French 75 to start the evening.
Great service and enjoyed the outdoor seating ambiance. This was more of a 5/6 course meal. I chose Poireau for the first course. Really enjoyed the Poisson ( sea bass ) which was the third course and the highlight of the night for me was the fourth course which was the Lavande paired with a pistachio madeleine. Would love to come back and try their wagyu steak next time.

Went to this amazing place to celebrate my son's bday! The food and services are excellent! It has soft music, pleasant and soothing ambience! Will comeback for sure!
Best dining experience I've had in a long time.
Went to celebrate our anniversary. Every single staff member we interacted with, which was about 6-7, wished us a happy anniversary. They gave us a celebratory glass of bubbles that was light and refreshing. We then started with the prawns, which were so good with the salt on them. Then had the crudo, saint jacques, gnudi and rhubarbe. Everything was unbelievable and I licked my plate clean with each course. I also had the espresso martini with coconut cream, and it is hands down the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go back.

The design is cozy and eclectic, almost like stepping into a Wes Anderson movie, complete with a staff that is so composed and stylish that they could all be famous actors. Incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, never snooty or imposing, the service excels in every aspect. The food is never an afterthought, and we sampled the raw bar fruits de mer platter, the croque madame, and the tasting menu. The raw scallop with green apple was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The veal tartare was a standout. The composition of every dish was lovely and we really enjoyed the casual but exceptional presentations. Highly recommend!

Went here for my birthday and it was such a wonderful experience. I sat down and received a hand written card from the staff which was a nice personal touch. They also accommodated for my many dietary needs. Every course was so unique. Such a great find!
I might be biased because this is where my fiance and I
I might be biased because this is where my fiance and I went out to dinner to celebrate right after getting engaged, but it really was a spot worth the occaision! I love the colorful french pop ambience of the inside and the outdoor patio was extremely comfortable and warm even at night. Our servers were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we were well taken care of - even offering a compimentary bottle of champagne. Everything we ate was memorable and incredible. Would definitely recommend!
Went here a couple of months ago for a date night and it
Went here a couple of months ago for a date night and it was both one of our favorite restaurant and it terms of food, ambiance and service. They just recently got their Michelin star too. This place is highly recommended and I suggest you make reservations in advance cause it can get packed. Veal tartare - 10/10 the gelatin in the tartare just added such extra depth and flavor to it. I've had lots of tartare before this is by far the most intricate and tastiest one I've had. Rabbit - 8.75/10 new for me. Nice texture to it. If you didint know it was rabbit you wouldn't have been able to tell. Cooked really well and paired well with the green. Seabass 9/10 - fish was cooked perfectly where it was nice and soft. Pretty much slices with no effort when using a knife. The skin on top was also the perfect amount of crispy and crunch to it. Duck 8/10 - a lil bit tough for my liking but was still delicious. I just preferred the other main entrees tbh. Beets 8.5/10 - not usually my thing but they way they did it here was a new and interesting experience for me. Opened up my perspective on beets haha. Didint know it could taste like that Overall this place is a great value for a Michelin meal. Service was great as all the help was super attentive and helpful in choosing wines and explaining dishes. Can't wait to come back again
Second time eating here and the food and service never
Second time eating here and the food and service never disappoint. The broth on the crudo made you want to lick the bowl. The crispness of the pork belly and the accoutrements made the pork standout. You cannot go wrong with the Poireau, it's decadent and delicious. There was also Perdix (partridge), pretty tasty (like a really good chicken). Will always make the trip for this place.
Excellent meal.
Will add more later. Super service by Alan and Paige. Great patio! Good choices for each course and vegetarian off-menu options.

What an incredible restaurant ! Pure culinary artistry from the Chef. I have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in France and this is equal or superior to the best. The entire experience was wonderful. The service team was exceptional ! Wine pairings were spot on ! The atmosphere was inviting and the music selections they play from an old Akai reel to reel Tape Deck with a McIntosh receiver/amp were outstanding. Don't miss this gem of a dinning experience!
Such friendly service! Borderline contrived and unnatural
Such friendly service! Borderline contrived and unnatural feeling, but perhaps the most unforgettable aspect of the experience, next to the hustle and rhythm of the open kitchen. Beautiful bar and such a hip decor/atmosphere. The name is very fitting... everyone is young and oh so pretty... begging the question of diversity in such a diverse town. The food is beautifully presented with stiletto inspired silverware exchanged for each course, however the portions for a four course meal are too small, even with the complimentary extras. The servers should recommend the upgrades depending on the level of appetite. We drove three hours from Ventura County and informed our server of this detail, and were still a bit hungry even after having the caviar/brioche addition to the four courses. One shouldn't leave a Michelin Star meal, appropriately paced, and appropriately balanced with protein selections, feeling like something is missing. As for flavor... delicious and unique flavors and textures, beautifully seasoned. The caviar/brioche appetizer was my favorite, and the one I've highlighted by a couple of photos. Rich, layered, a marriage of sweet and savory; a perfect starter.

I've been to a lot of restaurants in my time, and some amazing ones, but I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best meal of my life. The quality was impeccable. The service was highly attentive to the point where you never had an empty glass or unfolded napkin. I don't want to ruin the experience but I recommend the wine pairing for some exquisite French wines! I will be back!
Sorry to say, but this place is over hyped.
You have to really love French cuisine to make this experience worth it. No doubt the service is the best in town, but the experience was not worth the price. There are better non Michelin starred restaurant experiences to be had.

Jeune et Jolie instantly transports you to Paris, with its decor and ambiance. Very reminiscent of a nice macaroon shoppe. Our party instantly fell in love and couldn't wait for service. From a service point of view, reservations were handled very nicely and efficiently. Our head waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us make great choices on the menu. While not a knock on the service, we order bottled water for our table, but a wait staff proceeded to refill our half empty cups with non bottled water..... yes it's probably a first world problem but our party had a good laugh about it. The food was simply divine..... our party is not stranger to Michelin 3* and in terms of taste, presentation, and surprises.... Jeune et Jolie earns top marks. I do not recall the French name but here is the breakdown of the food Leeks with béchamel (I think) 4.5/5 i did not know leeks could taste like this. The only .5 deduction came because I also tried the tartare Tartare. 5/5 My goodness this was fresh, refreshing....incredible... The bread and butter with tomatoes. Wow (5/5). We had members in our party who do not eat carbs and they could not resist the bread... it's that good. Rack of lamb (5/5). Again incredible. Non gamey, non lamb lovers could not get enough of this... sadly no picture since we devoured it. Scallops (4/5). For me, I'm a big seafood guy, and the scallops were done perfectly and paired with a great sauce. Points deducted only because of my personal preference. Wagyu (4.5/5). The consensus on the wagyu was not unanimous . 3/4 people enjoyed the wagyu and gave full marks. The last person enjoyed it, but felt it could have been better with more char on the surface. All agreed it was one of the best dishes from the entree. Partridge (2.0/5). The only stand out, not in a good way was the partridge. Flavors were excellent, but my partridge was over cooked. It was not dry, but definitely has no juiciness to the meat. Maybe it's intentional... but I wasn't thrilled about this one. Fish (5/5) the fish dish I did not personally try but our Indian friends remarked that was their favorite dish. Gnudi dish (5/5) again, I did not try this dish but our Indian friends loved this dish.... Dessert, (4/5) fantastic dish, very refreshing and great way to cap the evening. Unfortunately, I only remembered how I felt during and after the dessert, but not the dessert name itself so maybe that's on me... We also had various oysters and drinks. (Oysters HIGHLY) recommended. Thank you for the read. We had an amazing time and the price point was not too bad. Well worth the experience and I cannot recommend Jeune et Jolie enough.
Great food, even greater service.
I'll say the best value Michelin star restaurant I have been to. If this is acceptable price range, bring your loved one here and enjoy the special day.
My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary in September
My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary in September 2023. It has lovely art deco interiors (pink!!) and was such a beautiful space to spend our 1-year anniversary together. Our server was very attentive and helpful with recommendations! I loved the tasting menu options (4 per course) and each dish came out beautifully. To start the night, we indulged in a few cocktails, my favorite had to be the French 75 (together, we had 3). We started our meal platter of oysters, prawn and other shellfish. The seasoning was on point, and we contemplated on getting more! They served us a small appetizer before our first course. I secretly mentioned to my boyfriend I was still a bit hungry from the few drinks we had, and they brought out another appetizer! First course, I chose the Crudo; mix of the tuna and watermelon was just amazing. My boyfriend got the veal tartare and loved it as well. They served us bread a butter right before the first course. Second Course: I got the Saint Jaques, a scallop dish with matsutake and green grape. The scallop melted in my mouth. Third Course: Poisson Dessert: Peche: Made with peach, lemon verbena, hazelnut and amaranth. This had to be one of my favorite desserts of all time. The flavors were balanced just right, and I probably finished it too quick. Finished the meal with a digestif recommended by our server. At the end they gave us stickers and a card signed by the staff! I truly felt special dining here.

Taste: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Presentation: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Saw this place on an episode of worth it and had to try it! The food was amazing!!! Love that we had so many small plates! This is a great spot for people who like tasting menus but has someone who likes a little bit of a selection instead of going in blind
Delicious food paired with a welcoming atmosphere and
Delicious food paired with a welcoming atmosphere and fantastic customer service! If I had the money to eat here every night for dinner I would. They had 4 sections on the menu to choose from. You would choose one dish from each section. You can also pair your meal with alcohol or virgin drinks for an extra cost. We came here for a birthday. Two people were late, but they were very accommodating and had us seated while we waited for the rest of our party. We ended up talking until way beyond the time they gave us the check, but we never felt like they wanted us to leave. Waiters were super attentive. I can understand why they have a Michelin star! The meal was beautiful and memorable. I have to convince my husband to come back with me.
FABULOUS!
Anyone that gives this less than 5 stars is not a foodie! Every dish I have ever had here has been amazing and the service is attentive but not pretentious. If I could afford to eat here more often I would be thrilled! It is fabulous and you should give it a try!
Delightful and delicious
We celebrated New Years at Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad, California. What a delightful experience from the moment we were greeted and throughout the entire meal. Everyone made us feel special, and we felt like they were genuinely pleased we were there. Our primary server Kyle was engaging and helpful. All supporting staff were cheerful, upbeat and attentive. The special five course meal was exceptional. It began with an amuse-bouche that was a tantalizing treat. We started the celebration with their Plateau de Fruits de Mer- oyster, prawn, bay scallop and mussel. Each with their own delicate taste. The second course was either a Croque Madame or Croque Monsieur- the Madame was made with caviar and Monsieur with black truffle. Both had Iberico ham on brioche with bechamel. We enjoyed each. For the third course we chose the lobster on a harissa sauce with basil and tarragon. Though the serving size was appropriately small, the lobster was sweet and perfectly cooked. For the fourth course I had the sea bass served on spinach with saffron, vanilla and warm spices and my wife had the liberty farms duck with preserved plum, anise and black pepper. The bass was cooked to perfection and delicious. The duck was one of the best prepared we have had- tender, rare and scrumptious. For our fifth and final course we chose the ‘Automne’- hard to describe 😊 Had a coffee crème with parsnip, pumpkin, and grape. Basically, tasted like a very delicate coffee mousse. It was accompanied by an apple tart- fresh and delicate. All was enjoyed with a bottle of brut champagne. The ambiance is certainly part of the enjoyment. As every order came in the details would be called out to the crew who would in unison acknowledge it with a loud “oui.” Michelin star winning Chef Eric Bost oversaw the well choreographed sourcing and cooking while ensuring each plating was meticulously prepared before being whisked to the respective table.
Affordable Michelin start restaurant!
Got lucky to get a dinner table with girlfriends and we had a blast! We were all so excited to try this Michelin star restaurant and we were not disappointed. They wagyu beef is definitely worth a try (it's an option for your main entree).
Memorable
One of the best meals ever. Superb food, unpretentious atmosphere , great service Two weeks before, we were at a Michelin rated restaurant in Portugal The food here was better A truly memorable experience A winner
Fabulous but expensive food deserving a better atmosphere to make it a fabulous night to remember.
The food is fabulous but we expected the atmosphere to be as unique. It was not. We made reservations 3 weeks ago. We expected to sit inside. The hostess dressed run-of-the mill stationed outside at an uninviting desk was quick to tell us they were full inside. We insisted gently that we made reservations inside, she brushed it off and said : sorry it’s full. All right. Should we stay or should we leave. California after 7pm is cold. Believe it or not with the dew falling, it’s not pleasant to be out at night unless you are dressed for it. We were then directed outside to a small bistro table without a tablecloth ( the patio is next to a parking lot). We spent $300. for a 4 course dinner @ $105 per person including a 4% surcharge per guest( really ! ) and tips. That’s a lot. We expected a lot. The service was great but the serving staff’s dress code leaves much to be desired. Casual at a French restaurant. It was more befitting a regular hamburger joint. Sorry for saying that but that is what it is. For a French restaurant with such great food and a phenomenal wine list, it was disappointing to be in such ordinary surrounding. The presentation of the food stimulates the senses so why not go all the way and deliver such magnificent food in the best atmosphere possible to make it an absolute fantastic night to remember. I suggest to the owners to visit Valle restaurant in Oceanside, another Michelin restaurant. Talking about the all around perfect experience, where the food and the food presentation is not only great, but so is the serving staff who by their impeccable look, manners and service transport you for a few hours into another world.
Simply Outstanding!
All I can say is wow! Jeune et Jolie never disappoints. We have been there four times now. They are so deserving of their Michelin Star. Service is outstanding, food and drinks are on point and simply the finest! The food is artwork at it's best. We thoroughly love dining at Jeune et Jolie. It's small and quaint! The pictures I am going to post speak for themselves. Jeune et Jolie is fit for us foodies and our foodie friends. We will be back!
Slipping a little
This was our 4th trip to the restaurant. Exceptional service, paired wines were excellent, food a bit off, a lot of citrus on many dishes. My wife ordered different things and felt the same. Too much citrus. Still an solid experience and we will continue to visit the restaurant.
Fancy Food with a Casual Vibe
Excellent evening. Price fix menu and wine pairing without being pretentious. Deliciously prepared dishes. Attentive staff. Casual environment. Calm heated patio seating. Busy bar scene. Accommodated a few ingredient intolerances with ease.
Creative fixed price menu; poor service; a la carte bar menu worth trying
Four-course, fixed price dinner is $105. À la carte menu is available at the bar. We enjoyed the crab and veal tartare appetizers. Creative mix of contrasting flavors, textures, for both. Tasty use of crisp, apples, to contrast with the veal and dash of wasabi on the tartare ($21 at the bar). Had the salmon ($24 at the bar) and rabbit ($24) for the second course. Again, creative presentations, use of ingredients. Third course, the entrées, we had seabass ($36 at the bar) and duck ($36). For a big addition, go for the Wagyu, a $55 extra charge for a ribeye, with sweetbreads, and mushrooms in a bordelaise sauce. Fourth course is dessert. The chocolate with beets and raspberry looked like a rose out of the garden. Short but well conceived wine list. Corkage $30. Very slow service. Big delays between the appetizer and the second course, then again to the third course. Had to ask for water refills. Perhaps shorthanded? Not terrific busing. Dinner was over two hours, which is fine when lingering over the food rather than nursing your wine so it lasts longer.
Wonderful gustatory and visual experience!
From the moment you step foot into the restaurant, the staff make sure you are well taken care of: from the hostess, to the sommelier and the wait staff. It is very SoCAL with a casual vibe but the quality of service is immaculate. We had the prix fixe menu and everything from the amuse bouche to the various courses were absolutely delicious. Our favorites were: the duck, the asparagus, the lobster, the bread, all the desserts, the sea bass, and the must have wine pairings were right on. Would definitely recommend the pairings! We will definitely return if the menu is indeed seasonal and would also try the raw bar the next time we are in town.

Prepaid Reservation Fee

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
