The zhang fix we needed
Ordered the nonya and bak zhang as really fancied them. The former was a bit too sweet (why aren't nonya zhangs blue anymore??) And one of them broke apart when I unwrapped it. The bak zhang was nice. They came in a bag which suggests they are from Joo Chiat? Also got steamed yam cake which was tasty though could have done with more chilli. The layer cake was probably the most disappointing & we have definitely had better.

We note that the quality and taste of the chwee kueh from Jian Bo has been deteriorating, especially in our more recent visits. This was the stall to go for chwee kueh in the good old days and currently, it is sad to know both the chwee kueh as well as the chai por (preserved radish) and chilli cannot match those from the same stall during the 70s and 80s. Personally, we feel that the quality and taste has been overtaken by its competitor Bedok Chwee Kueh.

this chwee kueh is very oily. be prepared to wait cos of the queue. they are still open in the late afternoon. overall a good and cheap meal.

I seldom have this treat for breakfast but when I do I have to buy it from Jian Bo Shui Kweh to satisfy my craving which I can only buy in Singapore.
I usually buy it take out and consume it at home for breakfast the following day.
Awful
JIAN BO Shui Kueh recently increased their price by 20%, new packaging was designed to shortchange customers by giving less ingredients.
Quality of shui kueh, chai po and even chilli also dropped tremendously, probably the owner further cut corner by using bad quality of ingredients.
Regular customers should boycott it and make it close down.
Cha po and chilli nice
The chwee kway texture soft and nice. Cha po is tasty but is oily and abit salty. Mixed with chilli also nice

This hits the chweekueh spot right smack in the jaw.
Chye poh is generous and salty enough with a good bite. Chilli is fantastic and mixes well with the radish. The starch is soft yet firm. Definitely way too oily though. Canโt hardly blame them fer having not enough time to drain off the oil with sucha roaring queue.
The Loverโs momโs fave place!
Bangs of flavour, cheap as chips
I've never had shui kueh before, so didn't know what to expect. The rice based discs that house the topping is slick, smooth, and glutenous, and the sweet salty topping (allegedly turnip) that goes on top is delicious. I bought a serving of five in a takeaway pack, had a couple in the morning, then had them as a snack in the evening. Still good! No queue when I went on Monday morning, and service was prompt.

The texture is soft and nice with very tasty turnip sauce.. However, a little too oily so each time you must remind them not to scoop too much oil...
