Jimmy’s Killer Prawns Manchester Reviews from The Last Year
Gorgeous Prawns
1st time here and as much as the American waitress was 'too american' she meant well but the mountain of prawns were spot on and we will be back with the family soon
Mountain of Prawns
Our first time at Jimmys Killer Prawns and we went for the ‘Mountain of prawns’ and they were amazing! The spices on them were delicious. On Tuesdays and Thursdays the dish is at a slightly reduced price, we got so much food! Great food and great service, especially from Srikanth who was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back again!
Avoid the seafood boil
Food was tasteless, nothing about this sea food boil was nice! Starting off with the potatoes they were rock hard, the crab shouldn’t be served even if it’s a different type of crab there was nothing inside for me to eat, the corn was burnt and tasteless, the prawns were okay I think the only best part was lobster! I was told to come here as many people have said it’s nice but it was the absolute worst and I definitely will not be coming back. When speaking to staff I was told that they’ve only just brought the seafood boil onto the menu and they specialise in other options on the menu. If you only specialise in certain options, maybe they should rethink about having the seafood boil on there! As it was not worth 39.95 for the portion or the taste 👍
lovely food friendly staff
lovely friendly place, this is a young fun hip place with lots of young people enjoying getting stuck into prawns and fish platters, a fun way to eat with gloves on cracking open the prawns and dipping them in that lovely source they serve with it. i would definitely go there again, yes its a little expensive but worth it
Paella rip off
Really awful food , the paella or there version of it , was like a bag of savoury rice. £18.50 disgusting. No tap water available which i find really bad practice. Prawns were ok , defo will not be returning. I did complain to the waitress about the paella she said she would pass on my complaint. I emailed the next day to tell them, im still waiting gor a reply.
Lovely seafood, lovely staff, lovely place
Delicious seafood, friendly staff, nice local and good location. Srikanth was our waiter and provided a Great tailored service and have us the best recommendations
Bad service
We walked in and were asked to wait to be seated. Apart from one table, the restaurant was empty. The staff member walked away and we were waiting about 20 minutes. A lady walked in also with no reservation and was greeted and seated immediately. I got up and left
Amazing
We have been to this restaurant 3 time and every time the seafood has been amazing would highly recommend you visit, all the staff are so friendly and helpful Like to thank all the staff
Terrible service
A party of 16 people and two allergy in prawn. They refused to accept order for other food without prawn order. Spoiled the gathering were 2 kids and adults. Charged 25% service charge. Very disappointed
Great Food but False Pricing!
Allow me to begin by expressing my initial delight with the food at your establishment. The service/experience, however, left much to be desired, which is the basis of my rating. My girlfriend and I went here on 27/04/24. We ordered the millionaire-sharing platter priced at £125 (this should be for four people, but I eat a lot). The food was great; we enjoyed everything on the plate. After finishing, I asked for the bill and noticed I had been charged £135 for the millionaire-sharing platter. I asked the waiter why as I didn't order anything extra, and was told: "The menu has the old price, the new price is £135, we're getting new menus made". He then just stood looking at me, and I didn't really know what to do. I'm sure there's a legal obligation for them to charge me what they advertise the food at, but I felt a little silly questioning the bill. I paid, we left and it seemed the shine had been taken off the evening. I wasn't told about the price increase at the time of ordering; the only time it was mentioned was when the bill was presented (at the end). I really enjoyed the food, and even though this happened, we will very likely go back. I just felt things weren't handled very professionally, and the staff could have been more polite. Danny
Amazing meal
One of the best meal i ever eat in my life and I love to eat different things in the world, so I really recommend to come and visit this place
Can't wait to go back
We went on a Monday night with a reservation. Service was very quick, and the food delicious. 5 out of 5 and can't wait to go again and bring the rest of the family. We got the prawn fiesta platter between 2 people, which was quite indulgent but managed to finish with happy tummies
Disappointing service for families.
Absolutely awful and disappointing service. We went as a family of 6 people and ordered some platters amongst other things. We were told that only one crab picker and one crab claw cracker are provided per table! It was ridiculous. How is anyone supposed to enjoy a meal together when we are waiting around for each person to use the tools! Moreover we had a child and ordered chips. When they arrived they had red salt on them. It does not state anywhere that there is red salt on the chips as standard and when we asked if they could change them for a portion without salt….the staff refused even for a baby and asked us to purchase another portion. We already had a lot of chips on the table and didn’t want or need anymore. They are not accommodating at all. I’m not sure what kind of training the staff receive. But we left early without dessert and will not be returning. We often visit the branch in Leicester. It is a franchise and the Leicester staff are so much more accommodating, especially towards young families. Very disappointed.
Seafood Broil
Loved it.... always wanted a broil.... so this was the place... the crab was a bit of nothingness... small with no meat... but the rest was full of flavour and filling.
Food is alright, but the service is awful
Food alright services awful ask 3 time to clear the table but they are too busy doing nothing at the end we have to complain and then we had cleared the table
One of the best sea foods in doha
This place is very nice, Great food, people are very friendly specially Mr. Omar and the other staff. better to try with family and friends.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience, we basically got kick out while we were eating cause they had to close the restaurant, even if the restaurant was supposed close 1h after
killer prawns
excellent service fast and swift. Food was amazing loved the staff they were very helpful and attentive. Lucy the manager was lovely and salam the waitress. i would recommend the prawns and the rice. loved the concept of gloves to keep your fingers clean.
Very Rude Manager
We've been frequenting this place for years, in fact my business partner and I used to come every Sunday for a long time. Our experience this time was extremely poor. All due to the manager who was clearly struggling, even though it didn't seem busy. We booked over the phone for five, or at least we tried, but was told to 'just come in' (presumably as they weren't busy). When we arrived the manager never greeted us or even spoke to us (or even looked at us!) , she tried very hard to avoid talking to anyone in reception. 15 minutes later we were seated. Not too bad. Until we were seated, that is. We spent around £70 per head, almost £350 bill for the five of us but we were mistreated by the manager several times. For the first time ever at JKP we were asked how we would like our lamb chops, the options were 'medium' or 'well done' (although the server offered us 'medium well' the manager said only 'medium' and 'well done' were the options. Normally we never had to make the decision they have always been cooked perfectly - medium, slightly pink. When my portion arrived (we love them that much we ordered 6 portions) they were severely undercooked, one lamb chop was significantly raw in most places. I politely told the waitress, she walked off with no remorse. Some time later the manager came and argued with me that that was how the lamb chops are cooked. I explained to her that I was a regular customer and that the lamb chops were undercooked, one was definitely mostly raw inside. Her answer was "lamb chops cannot be raw" - an absurd thing to say but quite embarrassing too, as she continued to demean me in front of my table. I had a second portion coming with the main and (walked to the reception area to not embarrass myself further) politely asking the manager to change to 'well done' as I seemed to have no option between 'not cooked' and 'overly done'. She continued to tell me "that's how they are cooked" - I've had JKP lamb chops at least 60 times. When they came they were literally burnt to a crisp, they had been cooked for so long that they were totally black and half the size. It was terrible. I wouldn't mind if I hadn't paid £70 per head. It was more the argument that the manager had with me (I own restaurants and certainly know how lamb chops should be cooked), it was truly embarrassing, not just for me but for her and those on my table. We were made to feel very uncomfortable about complaining and it ruined my friend's birthday meal. I hate complaining. But this was terrible. Made ten times worse by the attitude of the manager that night. Not only that, but my friend was made to wait 26 minutes for a sprite and actually finished his main meal before it came. Every time we asked the manager she was rude and gave us so many random disingenuous answers, never showing remorse once. I honestly don't know why. It actually upset my friend, but we tried to nervously laugh it off. The manager, being the manager, could he just facilitated the glass of soft drink but clearly didn't want to "it will arrive when it will arrive, the bar is busy" - it was the quietest we've ever seen JKP and we've visited countless times. I don't know what happened on this visit but the service was truly dreadful. We recognise the manager has been the same for a long time and she is usually quite good but our visit this time really ruined my friend's birthday. At almost £350 for five people I wouldn't bring a birthday here again. Especially as we had travelled for more than an hour each way. Please JKP if you're reading this, sort the lamb chops out again. They were always cooked to perfection EVERY SINGLE TIME we dined, this time it was really bad. And the random rude replies the manager said to me (and other guests on my table) were, to be honest, truly embarrassing. Telling us all "lamb chops cannot be raw" amongst other absurd remarks was probably the most random thing any manager of any restaurant has ever said to me. If my restaurant manager had said that to one of our customers, I would probably have needed to apologise or explain the situation too. Normally 10/10.this visit was 2/10 at best.
✨My first experience and honest review✨
It was my first time trying this restaurant and I’m glad I did!!! They have the best prawns in town I would 100% recommend this restaurant because the food is delicious also the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. I went with my friends and we couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was. Also we was served by the beautiful, sweet and funny lady called LUCY she was the best honestly! She gave me good recommendations as it was my first time visiting I wasn’t sure what to order. Lucy delivered an excellent service which has helped our experience to be unique and remarkable.

When you sell a reservation that has a prepaid fee AT takes a commission on that fee. This doesn’t really make sense because it’s an expense the seller incurs not part of the profit that is shared.
For example:
Carbone NYC fee to book table for 2 is $108.88
If you sell it for $200 on AT you get $140 from them.
Your net profit is $31 and AT collects $60 in fees.
It would make more sense not to charge commission on the upfront fee as this creates a disincentive and results in higher costs for buyers.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
