Has been our go-to sushi place in Palo Alto for many years but they no longer have a prix fixe menu so it is now very expensive. For example, dinner for 4 with 2 draft beers including tax and tip was almost $400. It's about 50% more expensive for a comparable meal. Bummer!

We were planning to go to another sushi restaurant in Palo Alto, but they only had outdoor seating available. So we found this restaurant, Jin Sho offered indoor seating and we made a reservation for indoor seating. When we arrived, they said only an outdoor table is available (even we specifically reserved an indoor table). We said we don't mind waiting for an indoor table but the waitress insisted telling us that only outdoor table is available and the inside table will take a very long time to wait. So we sat outside, the waitress was not attentive at all. We waited quite some time to get the menu. Asked for hot tea, they gave us ice water. When our food arrived, we had no utensils and soy sauce plates. The food is alright, regular Japanese food, nothing extraordinary. Fish and uni were not really fresh and fish is very thinly sliced on nigiri. I liked the chicken karage and hot sake.

The fish is also not as fresh as it should be. The piece does not stay together when you pick it up. It's also overpriced for what it is. There's definitely better quality high-end sushi in the area.

I really wanted to enjoy this place because if you charge $140 for omasake that feed 4-5 then that should be true right?My girlfriend purchased their special via take out and we were all surprised by the amount of lack of the amount of fish there was... it was worth maybe $60 max.. not $140 that would feed 4-5, more like 1-2 people... (I should have known when I only saw two ebi:shrimp heads) definitely feel cheated as it was false advertising A lot of the selections was not even fish and it was random cheaper seafoodI should have read the reviews before all of us girls went in on an overly priced mediocre sushi joint.It's sad because I wanted to support this local business but you can get so much better in SF for cheaper and better quality

Honestly their rolls are nothing to write home about, with the exception of the spicy scallop roll which is my favorite! Their spicy rolls are unique because they add tempura pieces inside. The chicken karage was good but I wish it came with kewpie Mayo or some type of sauce. Their prices are pretty standard for Palo Alto.Their prices may vary from online versus their actual menu.

I have been coming to Jin Sho for many years now, and it has evolved from my go-to spot to my "there aren't many other sushi restaurants open at lunch but I'm craving some sushi" spot. We've had some great meals in the past, but the recent meals have been poor or just OK, primarily due to the subpar fish quality. Perhaps this is because chef Masa left?The service can be hit or miss. It's been pretty good and efficient lately with the addition of the write-in menu due to COVID. However, during peak times, expect soggy nori because your dish will sit on the counter for a while. My favorite waitress at Jin Sho is Julia; she is thoughtful, precise, and attentive. Some of my favorite dishes here are: - Tempura: good variety of vegetables available. My favorites are shredded carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, and broccoli. The dipping sauce is flavorsome and not too sweet. - Chicken with miso dressing: good flavor on the dressing) - Tuna sashimi: good bang for your buck; it's 2pc/order. - The variety of toro available Some dishes that are decent, but not that great: - Rolls: the sushi chefs sometimes seem to use the scraps of fish, which have a stronger fishy flavor. The rice ratio is occasionally off as well. The rolls are never inedible, just not quite up to my standards. - Agedashi tofu: the fried layer is gummy, but the overall flavor of the broth with the mushrooms is good. - Yellowtail jalapeƱo sashimi: slimy and unappetizing pieces of fish skin are often left on, which detracts from the usual pleasant mouthfeel of sashimi and boosts the fishy taste. The ponzu on this dish is perfectly tangy, though... I've ordered extra of this sauce! Overall, if you can't get into Nobu Palo Alto for lunch, this is a good alternative to satiate your sushi craving. For dinner, skip Jin Sho and head down the street to Daigo or splurge at Nobu. These spots offer more finesse in their dishes and are overall more consistent in terms of the holistic experience.

We hadn't been here since before COVID and were surprised to find that the interior no longer looks like a restaurant, but rather like a kitchen/staging area. We had booked a table inside but opted to eat outside because it was so noisy and messy inside. Because the doors were all open (for the servers' access) it was just as cold indoors as outdoors.The chef's menu is no longer available although they still have sushi omakase offering.Once we got over our surprise, and found a table, we enjoyed our food and found the wait staff very attentive. But this is no longer a special occasion restaurant--just more of an expensive sushi takeout place with an eat outside option.Something that surprised me--next door is Terun, an italian place with a similar layout and size--but at Terun, they make use of both their street seating and their private patio--they have added lots of twinkle lights and table cloths to make it festive. Jin Sho uses the back patio as storage and hasn't really decorated the tents in front--no surprise that by 8PM Jin Sho was empty, while Terun was full with a wait. The food at Jin Sho is great, the service is fine, but the atmosphere is disappointing.

service: great! since it was cold out, the waiter was really attentive and helped us find a seat asap! interior: wooden furnitures with a cozy ambiencethey also provide outdoor seatings with heaters!there's also a sushi bar but unfortunately it's not available due to covid health and safety: masks required Ā· staffs wear masks Ā· staffs get temperature checks Ā· staffs required to disinfect surfaces between visits would you crave for it?yesssss although the dishes didn't really wow me but this was more of a comfort restaurant for me. for appetizers we ordered the mixed seaweed salad and the chicken karaage. the chicken karaage were super crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside; i expected them to be bite-size portions, but they were the size of meatballs haha for sushi entree, we ordered the sashimi deluxe. the quality of the sashimi were AMAZING, especially the chu toro! it literally melts in your mouth, it is for sure one of the best toros i've ever had!! their uni and salmon roe nigiris were also super fresh, the uni tasted of the ocean with a rich, buttery texture their sakes and plum wine were amazing as well! i personally loved their tamagawa "time machine" sake as it had a sweet, savory and umami flavor to it! those who live in palo alto should really check this place out!

Best AnswerYour bid has been ā€œmatchedā€ with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.

Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.

Best AnswerMostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Best AnswerHey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

It's fine if the sellers are just individuals that can't use the reservation. But just curious: 1. What's preventing people from creating lots of email accounts and write a script to book all the reservations FOR FREE then resale it here? 2. Since restaurants can be partners, can they benefit from the bidding? If so wouldn't this just be ridiculous? So a restaurant can sell reservations just like selling a ticket? And customers not only need to pay for the reservation also need to pay for the meal?

Best AnswerHey @HolisticQuestion30, whenever a bid expires, can't be filled or is cancelled by you, your funds are deposited in your AppointmentTrader Main Account in real time so you can use them for another bid instantly and don't have to carry multiple authorizations on your credit card for a number of days. You can access the funds with the credit card number that is shown next to your main account (labeled 'Show Card Number'). The real-time access is also true for any funds you earn from selling or reselling a reservation. You can use this card-number at any place online that accepts credit cards. (Currently limited to USD, multi currency support is planned.) AT is currently working on implementing a push-to-debit function, if you would like funds sent to your bank account before this feature is live, please email support [AT] appointmenttrader.com The team is usually very responsive and happy to assist with bridging any tech gap with their service :-)
