Very authentic local flavours
If you are into local cuisine, this restaurant is really worth a visit. After sampling more than 5 Peking duck restaurants in 3 days, we were very delighted with the quality of the roasted duck in this restaurant. The duck skin was well roasted to a crispy but delectable flavour. We were served the typical condiments for the wraps and instead of cucumber, this dish came with tiny rock melon slices which was a pleasant surprise but we saved the melon for last as it was great for an in-between savoury bite between eating the wraps. We tried various local dishes to experience the quality of cooking and were not disappointed; the flaming glutinous rice was interesting but the flavour can be rather plain after a while; the braised pork belly was excellent; the lightly sautรฉed broccoli was pleasantly good; egg with crab roe was great; the sweet sour soup could do with more flavouring but a dash of vinegar made a lot of difference; stir fried beef with scallions/coriander was not as good as expected and the cumin flavour was strong. However, the stove cooked rice soup was excellent. Try the almond jelly with osmanthus dessert. Itโs really a great way to wind down. All the dishes were delightful and was refined in taste and quality and yet very traditional. This restaurant is worth a visit if you want to sample good local dishes. Total meal cost around RMB500 for 5 persons which could be on the high side but really worth the effort going

Juqi ๅฑๆฐ, in Beijing slang means fair and just. From what Iโve heard and read, thereโs a long long line to get a table. But when we showed up at its main shop โ the original one, on Wednesday at 1pm, we got a table right away, in the main dinning hall. The decor is all about my old Beijing, or Peking, or Beiping. The service is good. The dishes are very decent, nicely presented and tasty. The three of us ordered ยฅ146 (about US$22) worth of food and we left with a huge dogie bag. The chopstick pack is stuffed with a few extra useful items, aside from chopsticks, it's toothpick and chewing gum too. However, each pack costs ยฅ2. It seems ridiculous to me that a restaurant charges a fee on tableware.
